a crackdown on protesters reportedly left more than one hundred people dead moscow says violence on either side of the country's conflict is unacceptable. egypt's own fire again is troops in cairo clash with demonstrators demanding fast changes after february's revolution. and a rare deadly tornado hits one far eastern russian city injuring dozens and reconned widespread. plus all business of crude oil prices fall down i mean good news for russia and the world economy will tell you and business and twenty minutes. ten pm london idea of moscow you're watching. with me kevin zero in this hour and
2:02 pm
first u.s. lawmakers are gearing up to vote later monday on an emergency deal to raise the country's debt ceiling and to avoid potentially devastating default it was finally struck after weeks of stalemate and political wrangling between democrats and republicans let's get more than should be from our correspondent newscycle final she's across developments for us in the u.s. capital now given she loses so why should we expect that over the coming hours will this bill finally be passed. well if it won't the u.s. is certainly in a tedious position now of course lawmakers did finally hash out a deal party leaders with the white house the house of representatives is expected to vote this evening in just about three hours time now of course the house is a little bit more tricky there's a lot more folks over there and in order to get this legislation to pass the republican leader john boehner will actually need two hundred and sixteen votes he does not have that from his own party a lot of conservatives say frankly the cuts in this deal just not enough for them
2:03 pm
and so in order to get this legislation to pass in order to to prevent the u.s. from a first ever default they will need at least sixty six democrats to sign on board and now we've seen actually the vice president joe biden has been dispatched to capitol hill this afternoon to sort of tell democrats you got to get behind this you know this isn't a raw deal for you a lot of those folks are criticizing the legislation because they say hey there's no revenue raisers we can't says yes enough money through this deal in order to pay for all of our obligations and now of course the senate the other chamber here in the u.s. congress is also expected to go down this the timing is a lot more tricky on this but the majority leader harry reid does expect for some sort of vote this evening so. keep watching this hoary live here out of washington are a lot of question marks absolutely lou some reason. for that. even if it does get through these readings it isn't going to be the problem soon for all of the ills of the u.s. economy right now. that's true there is
2:04 pm
a lot of criticism in standard and poor has said that they might not they may not be willing to keep the u.s. prize aaa rating as it is regardless of what comes out of this they don't think the cuts go deep enough and quite frankly this kind of last minute negotiating really taking the nation to the brink of default right against the clock is it's not a positive sign for the markets for for other financial watchers it's quite an embarrassment here in the u.s. and please let's let we all have to keep in mind that this whole debate over the debt limit it really is about previous spending spending that the united states has already agreed to make it does not address the bigger deficit problem and the long term picture of the long term fiscal health of the united states you so can follow from a correspondent in washington d.c. you could have had if you will if you could only culture it would be good later thank you thank you well america's possible two folds resonated for of russia's
2:05 pm
prime minister says the current deal struck by u.s. lawmakers will not solve the underlying issues as you just heard in from lucy but in a putin believes that raising the ceiling yet again only it was spose inevitable problem . does that mean you get away. actually there's nothing good about it you're just postponed making more system in other cities this colossal day fourteen trillion means of the country has been living like christmas which is really bad for one of the world's leading economies this means they live beyond their immediate click on a button on the entire world's economy to some extent they sponge on the world's economy and on them on a political positions this means that firstly the other reserve currency should show up in the world not just the dollar the euro should be consolidated will usually come up with a regional reserve currencies the ruble can become a regional reserve currency. because of the good. that spring are malena no no mag skies there as well financial analyst and host of the kaiser report here on our
2:06 pm
team joins us live from new york city very good to see you well the deal reached by the u.s. lawmakers could still fall through there in the vote in congress in the coming hours how big a risk is that happening though at the eleventh. well all of the proposals on the table all. debt and that's the basic underlying theme u.s. treasury bond market will be downgraded it will no longer carry the aaa rating no matter what they decide and this is exactly what wall street banks want you don't make much money trading aaa rated u.s. government that spreads a very tight and there's not much money to be made traders on wall street what i call the nine eleven crybabies like jamie diamond or lloyd blankfein they want the u.s. dead downgraded to if they can't just junk status because you can make a lot more money trading junk the spreads are huge more volatility more money for
2:07 pm
blankfein and diamond the nine eleven crybabies who for ten years have been getting all of the money they've extorted from government whether it's hank paulson back in two thousand and eight or now barack obama who's just a puppet of wall street extorting once again for free handouts free money again for the too big to fail banks and this is going the way of all these other countries of saying where they've downgraded the debt great for bankers great for fees great for christmas bonuses this year for the kids but unfortunately horrible for anyone living in this country also because the chair is most what you saying is all of this is all constrained. well it's in their best interest in other words most of the economy in america over fifty percent of the economy is tied to investment banking and wall street trading so they control the g.d.p. for them to continue to make money they need to look for new business new revenues turning america's aaa rating to junk will make them many many billions of dollars
2:08 pm
in fees it's just simple economics and simple business just follow the money but if everyone can see that issues piling debts on to dead how did merican public garden seeds dealing with this. well the american public is having their worth decimated by wall street banks j.p. morgan and goldman sachs are two americas little class what buffalo bill does to the buffalo population in america their interest in wiping them out. the democrats sense of the politics of it on the face of it anyway have made the biggest concessions to reach these deal crucially a doesn't involve tax hikes for now at least the republican house speaker told his party that nothing in the agreement quote violates our principles now does that mean that the republicans are just better of brinkmanship or do they just have more clout when it counts. it's foolish to think of this in terms of republicans versus democrats this is about as i've
2:09 pm
been saying savers vs speculators speculators a lot of interest rates at zero percent and they want u.s. treasury bonds and junk savers who are not getting any return on their investments because interest rates are zero are buying gold which is about to hit another new all time high today hitting new all time highs and currencies around the world they're buying silver that's what the silver vigilantes are doing because they realize that the american kleptocracy and the folks on wall street the american public by the juggler they're going to keep squeezing and so they end up putting another fifty or sixty million of people permanently into poverty and just destroy this economy for the purpose of making a quick buck these needler financial terrorists are the nine eleven primary baby crew which includes blankfein and diamond and what a cleric obama needs to do if you were working in the interest of the people would be to nationalize j.p. morgan and goldman sachs immediately fire these products and start all over again
2:10 pm
because you've got a predatory monopolist down there on wall street is interested in wiping out the middle class for a quick buck and that is tyranny all right i'm taking away everything you say in a market i want you comments as well and i'm the face of it of what you think of president obama what he said about all this he said that we will not face this kind of crisis in six months or eight months or twelve months if this goes through but i think about i think is smoking his own belly button lint and he's getting high on his own delusions he is if he thinks this is going away any time soon. he's he's he's mistaken what a beautiful phrase what a would must be of service because of financial analyst and host of course so because report here and i'll say it was a pleasure to see thank you. or anything. several nato states

threatening action against syria with the u.n. security council set to hold an emergency meeting on the situation that of course is activists reported syrian security forces have renewed attacks on the city of hama more than one hundred people is said to have been killed on sunday when government tanks forced their way into the opposition stronghold russia's condemned the violence in syria calling on both sides the government and the opposition to abstain from brutality and abide by the law this is the e.u. is expanding its sanctions on the massacres so let's talk more about the prospects than of resolving the situation in syria and basil east with his former u.k. ambassador to the country joining us now live from oxford mr eastwood thanks very much for being with us and taking the time as a former ambassador to syria you know the country and the people there well what do you see as the best solution to this worsening crisis. i have to say that i don't see any solution in sight at the moment what one would hope would happen is that
2:12 pm
the president would make more realistic efforts to negotiate. genuine offers of reform at the moment he has talked about reform but not done anything. about checking the security state but in fact is on the ship. real moves in that direction however. would have to be made in order to encourage any of the demonstrators to enter into negotiations at the moment anybody who said he wanted to negotiate a transition with the government would be disturbed by those who are demonstrating . today the u.k. foreign secretary william hague said that military action against syria was not a remote possibility but of course that's been said before isn't it i mean is intervention in syria likely to be considered by western powers as time goes on i
2:13 pm
doubt it i mean post the military and for political reasons as william hague said. the intervention in libya was completely different not least because there was a decision by the arab league which in effect sanctioned it to it so that i don't see the political basis for intervention internationally i don't see that intervention militarily would be anything other than disastrous within syria all syrians would have ject of that would be the one thing that might unite all syrians behind the government in fact. so i don't see any prospect of it sanctions what we called only a blunt instrument i mean that as and when they are applied now increasing sanctions how will the government survive not only strong enough to see it through . the answer is that the economic sanctions are not of themselves going to bring down but what will undermine him over
2:14 pm
time is the fact that the economy is collapsing. it is a truism of syrian politics that if he loses the sunni little plus support from damascus and aleppo to a lesser extent. he will not be able to maintain his hold on power and when they see that the road he is leading them down is leading to economic disaster then they are more likely to turn against him serious as it's fighting insurgents not protesters with that in mind who is the real opposition do you think well i think the syrian official media are propagating complete myths. and i don't think if you attach any importance to what they say except in so far as there is a possibility that some of the syrian leaders themselves believe that. there is
2:15 pm
a terrible process in totalitarian states whereby people tell leaders what they think the leaders want to hear and it is just conceivable that the leadership in syria are being misinformed ok basil eastwood former you can pass it is serious pleasure to have your insight of a program thanks so much mean with us not to talk but give me time egyptian troops have clashed with protesters who are camping out in the center of cairo hundreds of demonstrators were cleared away from tahrir square where they've been gathering for weeks to demand faster reforms after february's revolution michaelmas professor of modern history docs had university told us gyptian is ready for another uprising because they see too much of the old regime in a new one. the secular opposition so who are unhappy with the changes since we're broke while in the military government in practice is a continuation of the old regime and also they want to talk not even down. to
2:16 pm
a just when we see this attempt here the square may well more protests more violence from around into the other hand it also may be a sign the government wants to you ram it down as a month to calm the situation before we're supposed to have elections. in eight weeks time now that could of course provoke more protests we could see as we've seen in other parts the arab world the expectation in the evening after the end of fasting people will just. demonstrate or we could see the government thinking this will be an opportunity to crack down some support from people who feel they've had enough demonstrations in cairo you have a kind of weariness of demonstrations that will so many people. hope would also garner this is our feet from moscow with me tell you know i'm coming up rewriting history veterans of his track hold a rally in a so dear of being bandied of a country very revived back in europe that report ahead tonight.
2:17 pm
next in israel thousands take industrial action in tel aviv in protest against the government so it's all a weekend of massive demonstrations of a rising house prices an escalating cost of living people are demanding social justice and better working conditions i think the policy is there for us following developments in tel aviv. israelis are mobilizing on the streets of tel aviv tonight money day for another demonstration against the government although the numbers on mighty soon reach the twins of pounds and that we witnessed over the week in the demonstration was much the same as it has been over the past two and a half weeks it's been burglarized and mobilized online the grievances are against these maybe governments normally augustine's there of course obviously i missed it even that's enough which was signed as well as for a regime change time ago gives way because eventually on paris mixed with some of these protest organizers he initiated the meeting and said he wanted to see what the grievances were and finding that reason to say that one needed to be changed
2:18 pm
would be changed a very different message from page about the ceiling of the minutes on the upper hand written out in the solid has been putting money over these protests since they began we know that he is pushing play thousand votes because as quickly as possible this is a poll that would say that we want to see surrounding construction and mind that an office spokesperson saying that these different stations were also offered pollution and that was really put to meet with sound and healthy having said that though the director general of the finance ministry the science that's anomalous is the special committee to meet with the protestors and looking so they grievances the soapy government is struggling to deal with what is really one of the largest midst of crises that they've had in least since yes there are of course having those being made between what's happening there in his role model sort of the arab world to be arab spring in the past few months there was a first rate seems to be no indications of this protest dissolving into violence
2:19 pm
although one of the pentode they have been a member of a race made that's according to this past weekend of the weekend before there was another mobilization happening online for a million man march tens of thousands of israelis have already signed up for back which is scheduled to take place in this new claim of september perhaps the best way to describe the new feeling as well at the moment this was a good weekend. maybe politics is the fate of. eighty eight. and was reckless thinking more of the opinion back in one to forty eight forty three i want to tell. you there's a lot more course on our website oxy dot com is a taste of some stories you catch up with tonight just a few clicks away china opens its own coffee cup i clear there it is a giant furniture store in the style of the iconic swedish radisson authentic imitation here right down to the davy yellow coloring and the free pencils paper rulers neat balls all about online and moscow's old architectural gems are getting

a band we cannot go in both in order and go hear it in a stain year it's a different story altogether. it's common in the story to call these people freedom fighters we hold our protest rallies on the same day behold this event to remind them we are giving allegiance to hitler you can tell them that they have never liberated. moreover any of them are engaged in and all of them are more innocent qantas's of crimes committed by nazi germany. in fact in recent years the a stain you know thirty and made it increasingly difficult the days to come to a paisley event this year once again members of the anti fascist movement detained at the buddha today that by the way the car we were travelling in was a stop the questioning on the way in i was stopped. i have an entry to the country and of course any kind of other opinions of their own opinion which

either gathering for fights or for an dangerously a fascist state there is the government's failure than it is seen at the very least as being morally politically insensitive so. finally tonight freak weather destruction and death one victim was killed by a powerful twister as it swept through russia's far east twenty eight others were injured by the huge whirlwind a natural phenomenon considered rare not only in the region but also for the whole of the country take a look at these pictures you can see the power of it's amazing the tornado tore through this city center tearing apart the rooftops and balconies of more than one hundred buildings as it went such was the power it overturned trucks trees ripped power lines only went on for a few minutes but i would assume say that it caused incredible damage most roads have now been cleared but many homes are still without electricity and if you want more pictures dramatic pictures as they are go to our website dot com.

economic growth is slowing down the latest manufacturing figures from the u.s. and europe make this more reading the slide and oil may not be all bad for russia as yvonne chicago from renaissance capital explains. if you look at the u.s. economy for example one reason why because he has not done very well in the first half of year is because the american consumer has suffered because of the high oil prices social have also if you use the purchasing power of the american consumer and again this is a drag on global growth in my opinion the best lights for the global economy right now and maybe even for russia is not one of them great the problems around ninety five dollars or a little bit the road slow down a little bit would be nice you know prices right now i think would be very beneficial for united states for the world and for us. let's take a look at those oil prices now right it's currently trading at ninety four dollars
