changes to february's revolution. deadly tornado hits one far eastern russian city injuring dozens and widespread. plus all the crude oil prices down but good news for russia and the world economy we'll tell you in business and twenty minutes. ten pm monday night here in moscow you're watching r t with me kevin zero in this hour and first u.s. lawmakers a gearing up to vote later monday on an emergency deal to raise the country's debt ceiling and to avoid potentially devastating to fold it was finally struck after weeks of stalemate and political wrangling between democrats and republicans this

get more than it should be from our correspondent lucic of find out she's across developments for us in the u.s. capital now you can even see so why can we expect over the coming hours will this bill finally be passed. well if it won't the u.s. is certainly in the tedious position now force lawmakers did finally hash out a deal party leaders with the white house the house of representatives is expected to vote this evening in just about three hours time now of course the house is a little bit more tricky there's a lot more folks over there and in order to get this legislation to pass the republican leader john boehner will actually need two hundred and sixteen votes he does not have that from his own party a lot of conservatives say frankly the cuts in this deal just not enough for them and so in order to get this legislation to pass in order to prevent the u.s. from a first ever default they will need at least sixty six democrats to sign on board and now we've seen actually the vice president joe biden has been dispatched to
2:05 pm
capitol hill this afternoon to sort of tell democrats you got to get behind this you know this isn't a raw deal for you a lot of those folks are criticizing the legislation because they say hey there's no revenue raisers we can't get enough money through this deal in order to pay for all of our obligations and now of course the senate the other chamber here in the u.s. congress is also expected to vote on this the timing is a lot more tricky on this but the majority leader harry reid does expect for some sort of vote this evening so we'll keep watching this for you live here out of washington are a lot of question marks absolutely lou some reason. for that even if it does get through these readings it is going to be the promise soon for all of the ills of the u.s. economy right now. that's true there is a lot of criticism in standard and poor has said that they might not they might not be willing to keep the u.s. prize aaa rating as it is regardless of what comes out of this they don't think the
2:06 pm
cuts go deep enough and quite frankly this kind of last minute negotiating really taking the nation to the brink of default right against the clock is it's not a positive sign for the markets or for other financial watchers it's quite an embarrassment here in the u.s. and please let's we all have to keep in mind that this whole debate over the debt limit it really is about previous spending spending that the united states has already agreed to make does not address the bigger deficit problem and the long term picture of the long term fiscal health of the united states to secure a correspondent in washington d.c. you've got a busy day ahead of you we'll let you get over that culture with you give it to thank you thank you well america's possible two folds resonated for why russia's prime minister says the current deal struck by u.s. lawmakers will not solve the underlying issues as we just heard from lucy the duma putin believes that raising the ceiling yet again only postpones inevitable problems. actually there's nothing good about it it just
2:07 pm
has been making more system in the centuries this colossal day fourteen trillion or more means of the country has been living in a critical time which is really bad for one of the world's leading economies but this means they live beyond their me and put it on a burden on the entire world's economy to some extent they sponge on the world's economy and on them on the political positions this means that firstly on the reserve currency and should show up in the world not just the dollar the euro should be consolidated will easily come up with a regional reserve currencies the ruble can become a regional reserve currency. that spray our man in the know max kaiser as well financial analyst and host of the kaiser report here on our team joins us live from new york city very good to see you well the deal reached by the u.s. lawmakers could still fall through there in the vote in congress in the coming hours how big a risk is that happening now at the eleventh hour. well all of
2:08 pm
the proposals on the table all. dead and that's the basic underlying theme u.s. treasury bond market will be downgraded it will no longer carry the aaa rating no matter what they decide and this is exactly what wall street banks want equal you don't make much money trading aaa rated u.s. government debt the spreads a very tight and there's not much money to be made traders on wall street what i call the nine eleven crybabies like jamie diamond or lloyd blankfein they want the u.s. debt downgraded too if they can't just junk status because you can make a lot more money trading junk the spreads are huge more volatility more money for blankfein and diamond the nine eleven crybabies who for ten years have been getting all of the money they've extorted from government whether it's hank paulson back in two thousand and eight or now or barack obama who is just
2:09 pm
a puppet of wall street extorting once again for free handouts free money again for the too big to fail banks and this is going the way of all these other countries of saying where they've downgraded the debt great for bankers great for fees great for christmas bonuses this year for the kids but unfortunately horrible for anyone living in this country also because the church is most what you saying is all of this is all constrained to well it's in their best interest in other words most of the economy in america over fifty percent of the economy is tied to investment banking and wall street trading so they control the g.d.p. for them to continue to make money they need to look for new business new revenues turning america's aaa rating to junk will make them many many billions of dollars in fees it's just simple economics and simple business just follow the money but if everyone can see that issues piling debts on to debt how the american public bond the seeds dealing with aids. well the american public
2:10 pm
is having their worth decimated by wall street banks j.p. morgan and goldman sachs are to america's middle class what buffalo bill was to the buffalo population in america they're interested in wiping them out. the democrats to the politics of it on the face of it anyway made the biggest concessions to reach this deal crucially a doesn't involve tax hikes for now at least the republican house speaker told his party that nothing in the agreement quote violates our principles now does that mean that the republicans are just better of brinkmanship will do they just have more clout when it counts. it's foolish to think of this in terms of republicans versus democrats this is about as i've been saying savers vs speculators speculators want interest rates at zero percent and they want u.s. treasury bonds and junk savers who are not getting any return on their investments
2:11 pm
because interest rates are zero are buying gold which is about to hit another new all time high today hitting new all time highs and currencies around the world they're buying silver that's what the silver vigilantes are doing because they realize that the american kleptocracy and the folks on wall street have the american public by the juggler and they going to keep squeezing until they end up putting another fifty or sixty million of people permanently into poverty and just destroy this economy for the purpose of making a quick buck these people are financial terrorists they're the nine eleven primary baby crew which includes blankfein and diamond and what a virus obama needs to do if you're working in the interest of the people would be to nationalize j.p. morgan and goldman sachs immediately fire these crooks and start all over again because you've got a predatory monopolist down there on wall street who's interested in wiping out the middle class for a quick buck and that is tyranny all right i'm taking away everything you say in
2:12 pm
the market i want you comments as well and on the face of it of what you think about president obama what he said about all these he said that we will not face this kind of crisis in six months or eight months or twelve months if this goes through what i think about that. i think is smoking his own belly button lint and he's getting high on his own delusions he is if he thinks this is going away any time soon. he's he's he's mistaken what a beautiful phrase what a word must you are service because of financial analyst and host of course of the cars report here on r t it was a pleasure to see thank you. or anything. several nato states threatening action against syria with the un security council set to hold an emergency meeting on the situation now that of course is activists report and syrian security forces have renewed attacks on the city of hama more than one
2:13 pm
hundred people who said to have been killed on sunday when government tanks force their way into the opposition stronghold russia's condemned the violence in syria calling on both sides the government and the opposition to abstain from brutality and abide by the law this is the e.u. is expanding its sanctions on damascus let's talk more about the prospects of resolving the situation in syria and basil east with his former u.k. ambassador to the country joining us now live from oxford mr eastwood thanks very much for being with us and taking the time as a former ambassador to syria you know the country and the people there well what do you see as the best solution to this worsening crisis. i have to say that i don't see any solution in sight at the moment what one would hope would happen is that president would make more realistic efforts to negotiate. genuine offers of reform at the moment he has talked about reform but not done
2:14 pm
anything he's talked about checking the security state but in fact is unleashed it . real moves in that direction however. would have to be made in order to encourage any of the demonstrators to enter negotiations into. ca sions at the moment anybody who said he wanted to negotiate a transition with the government would be disowned by those who are demonstrating the streets with him today the u.k. foreign secretary william hague said that military action against syria was not a remote possibility but of course that's been said before isn't it i mean is intervention in syria likely to be considered by western powers as time goes on i doubt it i mean both for military and for political reasons as william hague said. the intervention in libya was completely different not least because there was
2:15 pm
a decision by the arab league which in effect sanctioned it agreed to it so that i don't see the political basis for intervention internationally i don't see that intervention militarily would be anything other than disastrous within syria all syrians would object to that would be the one thing that might unite all syrians behind the government in fact. so i don't see any prospect of it but sanctions are often called only a blunt instrument i mean when they're applied now increasing sanctions how will the government survive that of a strong enough to see it through. the answer is that the economic sanctions are not of themselves going to bring down but what will undermine him over time is the fact that the economy is collapsing. it is a truism of syrian politics that if he loses the sunni little lost support from
2:16 pm
damascus and aleppo to a lesser extent. he will not be able to maintain his hold on power and when they see that the road he is leading them down is leading to economic disaster then they are more likely to turn against him syria says it's fighting insurgents not protesters with that in mind who is the real opposition do you think well i think the syrian official media are propagating complete myths. and i don't think you need to attach any importance to what they say except in so far as there is a possibility that some of the syrian leaders themselves believe that. there is a terrible process in totalitarian states whereby people tell leaders what they think the leaders want to hear and it is just conceivable that the leadership
2:17 pm
in syria are being misinformed ok basil eastwood former you can pass it to syria it's pleasure to have your insight of a program thanks so much when with this not at all but the. meantime egyptian troops have clashed with protesters who are camping out in the center of cairo hundreds of demonstrators were cleared away from tahrir square where they've been gathering for weeks to demand faster reforms of the federal reserve evolution michaelmas professor of modern history and oxford university told us gyptian isn't ready for another uprising because they see too much of the old regime in the new one. the secular opposition who called on happy with the changes since were barak rylan they feel that the military government in practice is a continuation of the old regime and also something that they wanted to have not been done was a danger to us as well we could see this attempt to clear the square may well provoke more protests more violence but beginning of ramadan the other hand it also may be a sign the government wants to use ramattan as
2:18 pm
a month to calm the situation before we're supposed to have elections in eight weeks time now that could of course provoke more protests we could see as we've seen in other parts the arab world the expectation that you evening after the end of fasting people won't just break that demonstrate or we could see the government thinking that this will be an opportunity to crack down some support from people who feel they've had enough demonstrations in cairo that you have a kind of weariness of demonstrations but of course there are many people who feel that if they stop demonstrating then the hope for change would also die this is r.t. from moscow with me kevin owen coming up rewriting history veterans of his track hold a rally in a stone here of being banned in other countries very revived that he is in europe a good report ahead tonight. next in israel thousands take industrial action in tel aviv in protest against the government the strikes follow a weekend of massive demonstrations of a rising house prices and an escalating cost of living people are demanding social
2:19 pm
justice and better working conditions these policy is there for us following developments in tel aviv. the israelis are mobilizing on the streets of tel aviv tonight mind day for another demonstration against the government although the numbers on might seem to reach the tens of pounds and that we witnessed over the weekend the demonstrations are much the same as it has been over the past two and off weeks it's been burglarized and mobilized online the grievances are against these radio government's economic policies there are calls for these waiting list to be peanuts and not which resigned as well as for a regime change now a short time ago the israeli president shimon peres mixed with some of these to end protest organizers he initiated the meeting in the city wanted to see what the grievances were and finding that means when they say that what needed to be changed would be changed to a very different message compared to what we're hearing on the netanyahu have between now in the salt has been putting money over these protests since they began
2:20 pm
and we know that he is pushing play housing bill to be passed as quickly as possible this is a bill that looks at me if you want to see the rounding construction magnate at the pentagon that's an office spokesperson saying that means demonstrations were also of propulsion and that the israeli point to meet with sound and healthy having said that though the director general of the finance ministry the scions that's anomalous is the special committee to meet with the protesters and look into their grievances the so-called government is struggling to deal with what is really one of the largest the midst of crises that they've had in recent years there are of course part of those being made between what's happening there in his role what we saw over the arab world to be arab spring in the past few months there was at this stage seem to be no indications of this protesters all of them into violence although we have a pentel there have been a number of a race made that's according to this past weekend of the weekend before there was another mobilization happening on line for a million man march tens of thousands of israelis have already signed up for back

2:27 pm
as yvonne chicago from renaissance capital explains. if you look at the u.s. economy for example one reason why the economy has not done very well in the photograph of you is because the american consumer has suffered because of the high oil prices it's also have. to use the purchasing power of the american consumer and again this is a drag on global growth in my opinion the best price for the global economy right now maybe even for russia is not on the departments around ninety five hundred dollars or a little bit a. little bit would be nice you know prices right now i think would be very beneficial for united states for the world and for us. let's take a look at those oil prices now why it's currently trading at ninety four dollars per barrel while brant is at one hundred sixty nine dollars. and over the u.s. markets have turned circling south after opening positive initially investors were encouraged that the government had agreed on
