7:00 pm
today is the minus two days and simply until the fall day in no way a deal seems to have been struck and for all the drama of the last several weeks business will continue as usual in washington d.c. tonight we've got a cold when the only of the independent women's forum on the latest workings on a deadline the deal we got a drunk cop that is a high on the drug known as alcohol there yes drug abuse resistance education their trailer into a parked car a way to get she were car rentals operation onslaught with anonymous obama kicking ass in iraq the government keeping
7:01 pm
a lot of asses in syria and angela keaton joins with that in the arab summer context got a case of the mondays well we've got that here you're watching adam vs the man. ok so you can stop being afraid for well until the politicians tell you to be afraid of them they is minus two days until the fall day yes wednesday would be the day that the federal government is incapable of pain its bills but it seems that a deal has been struck giving obama. oh just four hundred billion dollars to type things over and over five hundred billion dollars coming down the pike if the congress does not explicitly require him or deny him the five hundred billion
7:02 pm
dollars so that nine hundred billion dollars increase in the debt i would supposedly be matched by savings over the coming decade yes isn't that a wonderful there i think this is what obama referred to as well what did he call it again the if you want a balanced approach a balanced approach this balanced approach for a balanced approach what we're talking about under a balanced approach is and sort of this kind of balanced approach this balanced approach asks everyone to give a little all right so this is what the president was going for that with a balanced approach except that it technically doesn't include immediate raises in taxes but we're going to come back to this so it wasn't really a balanced approach that he was going for originally didn't that included explicit taxes let's see what would a member of his party say who was maybe say trying to come up with some dramatic metaphor to gain attention let's go to representative democrat cleaver
7:03 pm
i'm concerned about this because we don't know the details and until we see the details we're going to be extremely noncommittal but on the surface it looks like the same sandwich. ok so this actually raises the federal debt by two point four trillion dollars sounds like business as usual continuing in washington well marco rubio had that breakdown the plan all along was not to take a position to let the days count down until he got to this point with seventy two hours to go and then force a vote on something that they wanted i believe that that has been the plan the entire time and you can see it carrying itself out and you want to know why people all across america good grossed out by politics is by watching this kind of stuff happens. oh my gosh i never thought on the show we'd be showing out tea party senator marco rubio from florida is right in line with what anarchists the last
7:04 pm
first of all knowledge has been saying right on congo are all about this whole process but how would obama describe it. now this process has been messy it's taken for too long. nevertheless ultimately the leaders of both parties if found their way toward compromise now you know it's a sure sign of a good compromise when nobody's happy as senator reid was quick to point out today people on the right are people on the left who are upset when the men were upset it was a compromise but wait a second there if there was a there was a pump on wall street this morning the stock market went went up in response to this amazing deal that they've struck in washington this is the gravy train is going to keep growing and the banks who sent a letter to the president asking him to keep spending money at the current rate that the government is spending money well they're relieved to so the left so i'm
7:05 pm
happy the middles and happy the rights and happy but the wall street banks are is without as usual no surprise there so. what do the republicans role actually come down to in this whole debate well. as expected speaker boehner tried to take credit for the no tax increase deal that was finally struck today as he said. it isn't the greatest deal in the world but it shows how much we've changed the terms of the debate in this town this is from a conference call that he did with g.o.p. officials and as he thought the operation the operation with the agreement it was all spending cuts and that the white house bid to raise taxes has been shut down well as any good fiscal conservative knows it's not just the taxation side of the equation that matters spending matters too and when government spending goes up somebody has to pay for and when they pay for it by creating money or borrowing
7:06 pm
money you know who pays for america's poor and working class who pay the inflation tax are hard at the most by policies like this and of course our children will have to pay for the debt that this will incur long into the future joining me now for more on this is nicole kurokawa nearly of the independent women's forum now nicole thank you so much for being with us i really appreciate it but we have some space some really exciting news for women today out of the federal government with all of this talk about money coming out of washington there's another good day being handed down it's just been announced that in starting in january the federal government is going to require health insurers authorized insurance companies to provide. contraception provide the pill for women free of charge you've got to be excited about this no yeah i mean i would maybe paraphrase a little bit and say there is no such thing as free birth control you know if someone is lazy set someone has to pay for it and as i've said the fact that
7:07 pm
someone has to pay for it which is that of the people who don't need it is going to people who don't want it i personally am a libertarian but there are people who have big conscience issues that this and we're forcing people to pay for things that they don't want but how can you have support from women you're the independent women's forum when you're saying no no no no no they'll give us these handouts how do you justify that to your base your. constituency it's all women of america who are going to go wow you're not represented as we we want to know about actually i would i would postulate that maybe nancy pelosi and maureen dowd don't speak for the will of america the entitlements war was founded in one thousand nine hundred two to actually push back against the idea of nancy pelosi i think as a significant part of that population she speaks very well for women in america who have over thirty five million dollars in net worth. good point oh ok so we can we push back against the idea that women want and benefit from big government i actually find that really insulting i think that women can compete on their own without uncle sam putting his thumb on the scale. women children families are best
7:08 pm
served by the free market and the opportunities and choices that provides i don't need someone making my choices for me how i choose to raise my family how i choose to live my life is no no business of governments and obviously they can't do it well ok so on behalf of all women in america you obviously were going so well what were you hoping to come out of the women in negotiations over over the big government spending numbers in washington right now what i was i was hoping for major entailment reform i was hoping for base but as you hold for cutting cutting spending and i don't have one and i was really interested in cutting spending because i think we're going to be downgraded regardless but we need to reform our medicaid medicare social security how things are going you know look how we're going to leave our children we're borrowing forty cents on every dollar that's not the kind of how that was a improve wise for america how less government immediately or less government spending or less storm in general need you and a group was reducing the size and scope of government means that there is there
7:09 pm
would be less ready fewer regulations on women small business owners on every day americans they be able to people would be able to have more money in their pockets and able to you know maybe that extra hundred dollars maybe i want to spend it on books maybe my mom wants to spend it on pharmaceuticals that that should be our decision that certainly shouldn't be the administration's decision of there's a lot of complaints about the current american system of corporatism of government interference in the market is that they the actions of regulation and taxation of supporting large corporations with experts are giving them loopholes to exploit in the law that small businesses can't compete with that create barriers to entry are what we've seen being now entrenched in washington policies after a after this this whole debate about things that the government has to keep spending money on has to keep regulation ask you subsidize. is that does that work to keep women uncompetitive like even those barriers to entry would be those are very much only very much that women women on small businesses are they have less x.
7:10 pm
less capital than men own businesses they have less access to capital and as you said regulations serve as a barrier to entry right now we have a corporatist government i wouldn't i wouldn't call it socialism necessarily but really there are ashes bones leaders that. you know where there are big business businesses who are spending they find it more efficient to spend money hiring lobbyists than to actually innovate and compete fairly and that absolutely forces that small business serves of the disincentive why would i innovate why would i create something new and wonderful why would i open a business when that's done or someone else is only going to go in and try and squash me because they have access they had to hear some cultures and it's obscene and was amazing things of the love olution the roots of the paradigm shift towards freedom that's happened in america that is as physical gone the nation as the application of force between fellow human beings becomes less relevant women are are more elevated and so i was really excited to see that you're a part of it and your mission continues with the independent women's forum so people can get involved parent definitely check out our website which is i don't be
7:11 pm
left out org and then we also that's our that's our research i call it a message tank because we don't do fifty page policy papers we do a lot of articles we put it in a cult translating wank into english on in terms that resonate with women and then also pushing back to politicians to say that we don't want these programs we don't need these programs and this is insulting real feminism means not being dependent on anyone not on a husband and a father not honorable sam i would stand with you so much for doing so besides think tank is more of a euphemism for propaganda machine than people because we're having nicole kurokawa newly independent women's forum i don't you know. operation also kicked off on july thirtieth two thousand all of them saturday night as planned around the world and ons took to the street in a massive media blitz and in out flyers stickers and other person information about statism around the globe and its crushing weight against the human spirit. but it is beginning to make its way onto the net from a from numerous events including one in london that reportedly distributed over ten thousand pieces of literature and gave out well three zero igs the police as usual
7:12 pm
showed up in force but the evening ended peacefully with no arrests for of any participants. you know the best thing about wearing a badge well for the rest of us i guess nothing but at least for them they can usually be complete jackasses in public and get away with it well usually but for this one thirty eight year old school resource officer his time above the law is soon to be coming to a fitting end the new king was arrested on wednesday last week after he allegedly slammed his truck into a tree and side swiped a parked car well for even under the influence and when drunk his truck happened to be carrying a trailer on the back of it a their trailer yes drug abuse resistance education.
7:13 pm
then he wasn't reading any of the literature and there are. drunk driving still constitutes driving under the influence of drugs but i guess he's trying to set a fine example for all the boys and girls to be subservient to the state and you know ruining the lives of others while he himself tried to bend the rules that he's supposed to enforce karmas a bitch sometimes but sometimes common can be a bit of a hero to. price inflation showing no signs of slowing now is gas food and lodging prices are all soaring and for the many in america who are suffering today that puts summer vacations out of question for the year but maybe not we have capitalism finding a way and innovations and marketing budget run a car is taking a new approach to billboards if you want to go on a cheap road trip just take the billboard with you the idea is simple to run cars and advertisements for willie drivers and give them a significant cut in rental rates this is starting in atlanta where but it is route twenty five their rental vehicles and advertisements and for one driver i mean
7:14 pm
a normally three hundred dollars rental for forty excursion came to only eighty eight dollars programs just a test run for now but it will go on until november so better jump on this while you can the government's probably going to outlaw it soon enough it's far too practical to be legal. it's better we go back iraq is deadlier now than it was a year ago in june was the bloodiest month in over two years but it is i know the war in iraq was over this iraq war two point zero zero one syrian troops attacked and killed dozens of anti-government protesters were out and to look into with us with their analysis on the arm rest they can place in the arab nations and getting your first job means. your first paycheck tell you why you should care about why that money is going stick around you're watching adam vs the man.
7:15 pm
lindsey lowe and he has told the preacher all that these women meant nothing people are suggesting she's told her no she says she's a star. a . new website with twenty four seven live streaming news channels what to do about the ongoing financial crisis unlimited three high quality videos were downloaded. and stories you may never find the names we need. and i believe that those of me or the political. posting more on our team done much to change.
7:16 pm
welcome back to adam vs the man we may be wrapping up operations in iraq but it's good to know obama is still kicking ass. or at least someone is he can ask in iraq either way there's blood in the sand in fact iraq may be more dangerous now than it was a year ago shiite militias continue to pose immediate threats to both troops and iraqi officials bringing forth a constant stream of assassination attempts and rocket attacks but perhaps more pertinence of the american people fifteen u.s. troops died in june the highest number in two years review by stuart bowen jr a special investigator general for iraq reconstruction has released a new analysis stating quote iraq remains an extraordinarily dangerous place to work it is less safe in my judgment than twelve months ago now u.s.
7:17 pm
forces are scheduled to withdraw from iraq by the end of the air but i have been vocal in their offer to iraqi officials that we could keep our young men and women in harm's way beyond the deadline if they so choose i guess george bush's mission accomplished ceremony in two thousand and four and two thousand and three was. a little premature after all maybe so was the bomb his announcement that we were going to be pulling out sometime in the near future or during his presidency even in mid march a firestorm sorts across syria as the arab spring made its way around the globe since that time it's believed that well over one thousand protesters have been killed by the security forces of syrian dictator bashar al assad women children and many innocent peaceful protesters have encountered the force of a tyrannical government out of its people's control peaceful protests are met with bullets and tanks were firing tales of riddle torture a leak from dissidents on the internet and the haunting graphic images verify much
7:18 pm
of what they're saying residents are stepping up barricades against government tanks blocking military supply lines and defending their neighborhoods with stones from encroaching government troops. and today marks the first day of ramadan a holy month for muslims and it is this time that the government of syria fears that its people will become especially inspired to rise up in greater unison incidentally today is also the sixty sixth anniversary of the creation of the syrian army so the crackdowns are turning up and intensity too despite them taking a break from cracking skulls to lay summary somehow some ceremonies and give the president another excuse for a speech but over the past weekend it's believed that more than seven the syrians were killed the hands of sots forces fifty five alone and see if not a city that is in some of the most violent government crackdowns since the demonstrations began in march what's going on in syria is both earth shaking and hideously monstrous and in the violent crackdowns that we see from the government
7:19 pm
the absolute disregard for basic human rights but we're not hearing anything about it here in the american media it seems to be one of the most unreported stories of the year but even for obama's so-called harsh words we see that he's inconsistent at best in his application of military force for what he justifies as humane military action in libya he demonstrates no need for intervention of any kind in a situation like this not that i'm calling for even still tens of thousands of. south of our own border in mexico the hands of drug cartels who in their own actions clearly qualify as terrorists themselves so the question remains is the world's thrown into revolution how long can the eyes and ears of america miss this tragedy and joining me for more on this is angela keene of antiwar dot com angela from los angeles california thank you so much for being with us to help put what's going on in syria and into the broader context of modern history in the arab world
7:20 pm
. angela first why do you think there's such a reluctance to tell this story why is it going so under reported. i mean aren't the reasons why these things are not reported i mean foreign policy isn't terribly important here is the central lives of most americans these things are always found places you always find them like antiwar dot com and you can find material that's out there one just has to be looking for it but also to you know sort of thing you know sometimes a us puppet you know what obama's doing his little wait and see approach now that assad is way out of your family because the ok we're going to side with the rebels i mean if you miss foreign policy it's really an exercise in cynicism and that's really all that's happening here is what it is or isn't or it's whether the crackdown just don't work as well as they used to it's not the streets and it's not sweeping people protesting well because i see that and they're inspired to stand out more if the government doesn't want to do this or they feel that it's so bad it often inspire solidarity and it seems that the arab spring at supersport it almost
7:21 pm
has hit a wall in syria but is that is that because of our intervention the use of assad is an american puppet. intervention and it's imperative that i mean i'm being somewhat or mean obviously these are people that you know or are there with the support of the united states government and you know he wants withdraw their support when it becomes a difficult to keep them there when it's was more probably call of the war than it's worth in any sense to keep their. he he was has you know it's very slow as i use the arab spring was it is a war it's troubling we're going to just slowed pace a little bit that might be fair we want to think your time you don't like putting this all into context it's only july i mean you know there are people who are doing this in real time but it would be quite a while before we actually were able to put this in any real context of what it means for us to. you know the idea of democracy in different places so i think what
7:22 pm
you were wait and see but you know it's what i see you know is that i mean it's understood i think your question is part of your policy is that the u.s. is central to almost all foreign policy everywhere i mean that's the empire so we have our police there and it's not but it's not is it i mean it's not terribly important to any of these people up here we bring iraq obama it's not violent massacres they are the average american doesn't know we're serious doesn't care if there's you know there's no ripping wrenching story here that if you can get behind it also to these are arabs they're not wait they're not waiting for normal americans to get excited about and care about so it you know we probably are going to hear terribly much about it except you know i have my word out in places like well it seems like in contrast to some of the other revolutions we've seen recently what would happen it's an easier and easier than the kind of timeline that we saw those following almost in an orderly process there were there was an obstacle and escalation a resolution i mean our seen in egypt perhaps it happened too fast as protests are being cracked down whatever reform happened there wasn't enough to respect the
7:23 pm
basic freedoms of protests that brought about that revolution in the first place but it seems that the really the violence from the government on protesters in syria is it's just another level and it's been going on for longer and the numbers in the death toll really separates it from some of these other revolutions what it what is the outcome of this going to be and why do you think so to speak it's taking so long if assad's tactics really aren't that great. it's you know certainly five months ago and they're going to crack down brought a few hundred to a few thousand in work practice maybe there is only made the number swell so this tree grow only isn't on the government side here and the violence isn't stopping the crowds and that's really the only thing i think they have left so i you know and terrible disease is in the syrians are dying in the long run in the long run you know they seem to be winning and winning in the sense of they're not backing the the rest of the ordinary people are not backing down so what we learn from this
7:24 pm
in america where a lot of people are watching the arab spring are watching globally humanity's attitudes toward government itself fundamentally change what can americans take away from watching what's unfolding in syria. you know i don't know if it's a returning attitude is i don't at this here really think that there's really much for us to learn if americans really wanted their freedom they have much much easier ways of actually knowing about doing it they're just there for many many reasons and americans are quite content and happy with a great life is here so i'm not really certain that there is that it is a place for the literature is for a man a fantasy about the about arab spring and about the spread of freedom throughout the world i just don't share and i think that if it were about these things and what i say wait and see and i'm not certain it's not clear to me that it's places. where you're eighteen months from now if years from now or ten years from now i want to see that the overall direction given you know given all the other trends in the rules certainly they'll be freer more modern in the ways that we generally
7:25 pm
think. well it does seem like they've passed the point of no return as far as assad is concerned we hope that he's not long for his seat of power and who will be following antiwar dot com with all the story thank you so much for joining us. the first real paycheck you'll receive if you're lucky enough to be expecting one is a point of departure for almost every american a departure from the innocence of youth if you will bear with me there's a reason i say real paycheck there is a purity and an honesty to working freely for another person selling your time and effort in services or for selling goods be they glasses of lemonade or cookies that a bake sale except when local bureaucrats shut down lemonade stands we tend to unfold indulge children in america with a right that we deny to adults to engage in peaceful commerce unhindered by the violence of government the first real paycheck you get is something different when
7:26 pm
you get your first real paycheck from a real corporation or government license business you are no longer engaged in voluntary commerce now the government is in a relationship that's right that ever little institution of mass organized violence is now in your personal economic relationships when they told you that you were going to make so many dollars per hour you probably did some quick math in your head and said well that sounds like a pretty good deal and for what your labor is actually worth it probably was when you were cruelly introduced to the idea of withholdings when you got your first paycheck you might have noticed that some of it was missing there is that federal withholding medicare social security regular see that money again and state withholding and thus you are forced to lower your expectations of what was possible and what your own value is but on the way that was just the part you saw where the average working american over half of what we earn goes to government at one level or another in one form or another when you add up all the taxes fees fines and licensing requirements for being
7:27 pm
a fully functional american citizen but all of this was voted up and set up under the constitution and the government says you are bound by the social contract that you never even signed to follow the rule of law let me turn author edward abbey for a little help explaining how this government by rule. all of law thing works as he said if you refuse to pay under us taxes your property will be confiscated if you attempt to defend your property you will be arrested if you resist arrest you will be clogged if you defend yourself against clubbing you will be shot dead and these procedures are known as the rule of law so this puts you in quite a bind doesn't it would you know that first paystub do you see the gun behind it do you see the violence inherent in the fruit of your labor being claimed by government and if not doesn't matter the money you are now sending to the government will be used for all sorts of crimes of force and violence that innocent afghan trying to struggle in said that victim of police brutality that business first closed because of government regulations you pay for that now the blood what
7:28 pm
is well be on your hands you have a choice or you could hang your head and accept the monstrously or gov as we call them you can sit idly by while the crimes of our government continue but no you can't even sit idly by you are forced to work for this to support it with your greatest of efforts to work half the year to support the crimes of government so will you accept this condition or will you resist will you at least demand your freedom or will you be like most americans when they see their first paycheck surrounded by lemmings when you follow your parents off the cliff. the government so you can mostly moaning i guess i'll go back to the fantasies of t.v. fiction and bury my head in the sand what will you do this is why you have to be paying attention this is why what we cover on the shield matters now and i not have
7:29 pm
all the answers i don't always get it right at dammit you had better be paying attention to things that matter. i do so for all of you watching tonight who have not experienced the mixed draw and pain of receiving that first real paycheck that when you do you will see the gun behind the ink behind the numbers and know where that money is going and know what you are being forced to be a part of but don't do it for your morals don't do it for me do it for yourself make the wrong choice and you might wake up after that thousand paycheck over way and i'm happy i voted through all of the establishment a cog in the machine a body in the matrix and by then it may be too late to remember what it was like when you got that first paycheck and decided that letting yourself be a wage slave was ever acceptable and that's our show for tonight they should tune into adam versus the magically figure out.
