in india she's available in the movie going to join me that shows the i love you that's the great way to turn the branding period. that george was the bush girl until you can oh well it's a little joke it's a duty to go and look lawyers read this in the can it was her job as this to retrieve. washington takes the first step to approving the long awaited deal to increase the u.s. debt limit just a day before its potential devastating default. the destiny of the bill is now in the hands of the u.s. senate after months of political bickering will it be enough to avert a national crisis. global stocks rally as a self-imposed crisis in america is a verdict but confidence in the u.s. economy's reputation as the world's creditor has been severely damaged. russia says you want action could help bring an end to violence in syria but once again
3:01 am
successive measures that could lead to a movie a style intervention experts stress the e.u. and american sanctions being enforced against a mass just really making matters worse. and the voices of tens of thousands of anti-government protesters an easy row calling for the prime minister to stand down are growing on reported by the international media. and in business russian equity markets open lower wage by energy and banking stocks that's despite positive news from the us warning what's causing the ground fall in our business bulletin and one thing that. well just after eleven am here in the russian capital you're watching our team thanks for joining us now below or chamber of the u.s. congress has. a last minute deal to prevent
3:02 am
a devastating full scale default after months long political confrontation while the only remaining hurdle for the legislation is senate approval which is expected later on it tuesday but already is losing half an hour visit washington with more. not a lot of good news in terms of the big picture for the u.s. economy of course the only thing that we can be certain of that this deal means is that it avert the self imposed potential crisis of a u.s. default what we do know in this legislation is it does sort of cut spending by about two point four trillion dollars over the next decade what that means in the short term for the u.s. economy is potentially a lot of tightening of growth now we have to keep in mind unemployment rates are still astronomically high at nine point two percent and so a lot of economists are saying this is not really the time to be cutting the spending this whole battle over the debt limit is kind of a proxy war an ideological proxy war between the republicans in congress and the
3:03 am
democrats in congress what we saw with the past election is the rise of the so-called tea party wing of the republican party and ideologically what a lot of those folks want is they want a lot of major cuts in government spending almost no government spending but the exception occasionally on defense they also want to lower tax rates they believe that this is the way to really stimulate the economy so this is diametrically opposed to the democrats' worldview the democrats argue for you know closing tax loopholes on for example corporations and other life and large companies they want to tax reform they want social spending for the poor and they don't want middle class americans low class americans to sort of face the brunt of of the economic fiscal crisis but really what this is all about and of course we wouldn't have seen this this whole fight connected to the debt limit if republicans didn't want to make a political point that we have to keep in mind that the two thousand and twelve election is coming up for both the congress and of course president obama and a lot of political analysts are saying this is just another way for the republicans
3:04 am
to try to embarrass the president to make them look bad the irony in all this is that neither the left nor the right really liked what came out of the deal at the end we saw one democrats that that the. as a sugar coated satan sandwich let the bun and nobody likes what they see that and of course by creating the special commission that will sort of figure out where to cut spending over the next few months that issue is still going to come up right in time for the elections so no one really wins in this deal. well it's a position shared by jason johnson a professor of political science who says washington and the president have little to celebrate i want to create real reform and that's all that's what congress' approval ratings have dropped a twenty percent the president's approval ratings have dropped to go on and once they claim victory at all they know what is really happy so we're not going to hear or call what you're going to hear a lot of people so very more we're never going to hear people safe let's move
3:05 am
forward and try to get their own policies through before the end of the year it's not a huge impact on what he told police in the short term. and what was for one reason because there were you know strangely he still has a higher already know all because we get to this point is we're going to be going square or jimmy carter so he can recover if you can reassert leadership and do something about the economy which was still sixty miles away a bit of president has got to do something to reinspire the probably because this was. how the rest of america as possible self-imposed faults has resonated far and wide with the global stocks rallying following the house vote but artie's appreciation to reports of the spike the immediate economic relief and more voices calling to replace the dollar as the world currency are being heard. chinese newspapers are calling this entire us that field to be irresponsible and even immoral so although people are celebrating the fact that it did pass there is
3:06 am
a lot of cautious optimism here what's important. about the interest in what's going on in the united states that is held by asian countries china being number one japan being number two so confidence has really gone down here the another thing that a lot of people are worried about is the fact that two point four trillion dollars is set to be cut in the united states but a lot of that hadn't been decided seeing as how long it took for that debt feels to be finalized a lot of people are worried about whether or not the funding will actually become another sort of political game many critics of this deal are thinking that this isn't going to do anything to help american unemployment which the rockley impact the asian economy as well as you know asia is the manufacturing center of the world so if the unemployment problem isn't solved in the united states that also means that consumer confidence goes down for america and that means that they're not going to be buying at sports from asia so that can really impact. people's jobs
3:07 am
here in this constant it so people are definitely worried there's also been a lot of talk about the god that the dollar has been at some of the lowest rates we've seen and in the past year and so there has been a lot of muttering fearing a. perhaps an alternative reserve currency or perhaps looking into a basket current be including japan and china as well. oh gosh was keeping a close eye on washington's political struggle to resolve the crisis and one of the surviving her putin says the american economy stays risk describe the deal which means washington can no longer be a symbol of economic stability around the world. actually there's nothing good about it just this boom. this colossal fourteen trillion means that the country has been living on credit which is really one of the world's
3:08 am
leading economies this means they live beyond me but the entire wage economy to some extent they sponge on the world's economy and on the list you can go look as if this means that firstly the reserve currency should show up in the world not just the dollar and the euro should be consolidated these if you come up with a regional reserve currencies the ruble can become a regional reserve currency. and coming up ahead on the program or unreported voices. i haven't seen anyone from c.n.n. or from fox news or any other big news channel here and it's really sad we also deserve a chance to be heard out of times of thousands of israelis demanding that their government stands down says the national media is turning its back on the country's problems. the reports are coming in of dozens more protests or deaths at the hands of government forces in syria and moscow says a limited u.n.
3:09 am
security council action could bring a quote good results in helping stop the ongoing violence in the contrary but russia's u.n. all boys italian sure could wars that any measures must be restricted to solving not aggravating the conflict now the security council has held a close to emergency session on syria that's ahead reports government forces there killed over one hundred thirty protesters on sunday moscow's already issued that strongest condemnation of the violence calling on both sides of the conflict to refrain from using force russia has been a cautious about international action on syria fearing a repeat of what it calls the violation of the u.n. mandate on they'll be out monday the e.u. slapped a fresh round of sanctions on damascus and washington is also calling for action against president bashar al assad's regime but a former u.k. a bastard in syria told r t that internal developments in the country are likely to oust the leader. the economic sanctions are not of themselves going to bring down
3:10 am
but what will undermine him over time is the fact that the economy is collapsing it is a truism of syrian politics that if he loses the sunny little past support from damascus and aleppo to a lesser extent. he will not be able to maintain his hold on power and when they see that the road he is leading them down is leading to economic disaster then they are more likely to turn against him the moment he has talked about reform but not done anything he's talked about checking the security state but in fact as unleashed it i don't see that intervention militarily would be anything other than disastrous within syria all syrians would object to that would be the one thing that might unite all syrians behind the government in fact. so i
3:11 am
don't see any prospect of it or western officials have ruled out military intervention in syria but economic sanctions against a basket are being stepped up middle east expert joshua landis thinks this will eventually backfire on the syrian people. all of the syrian opposition leaders who have. been elected executive committees have all the man that no foreign intervention now of course foreign intervention is very broad in gray areas there's military intervention like libya but there's also economic strangulation which could come along the united states already has sanctions fairly severe sanctions on syria the west feels it needs to do something it doesn't want to stop trade you know we've tried sanctions in iraq in iran. they haven't worked very much and when i now work they were starved of people and not the government and that's the danger of sanctions they feel good because you feel like you're doing something
3:12 am
and you can tell the opposition you're on their side but they in fact they are put in front of the people you don't want or. of course we're following all the events taking place in the middle east so where the unrest continues you can go to our website that's our team dot com to get the latest news updates and the videos and waiting for you right now egyptian police clash with activists a longstanding lasting demonstration on cairo so you're square trying to disperse those angry at the interim government great lack of political improvements. and also on our website a hacker group hijacked a twitter page of the whole region a mass murderer and there's a great big claim of the breach was an attempt to undermine the killers on my post and his ideological statements. and ed rollins west meets the east of russia where people turning to power boys and indians for the start of the annual cowboy festival.

forces. any israel foreign media are being accused of burning their has in the sand over coverage of the biggest saudi government protests the country has seen in decades tens of thousands of people fed up with material living standards are staging demonstrations calling for prime minister benjamin netanyahu to stand out as artist policia reports from tel aviv protesters voices are simply going on heard by the rest of the world. tens of thousands on the streets of israel angry and protesting for change but is anyone listening to a lot of the foreign media want to see more of an action movie and the thousand very violent it's been very violent and also been very positive. well into week three the largest demonstration in israel in over a decade and how did a.b.c. c.b.s. and n.b.c.
3:15 am
cover it they didn't a young a woman set up a tent like the editors of france twenty four b.b.c. and sky coughed up just a few meager seconds perhaps not even that interesting. in the studios ok there's a protest well what exactly is a protest a social protest for the revolution it's not the same kind of story that they're used to is not as big and dramatic as some of the bigger revolutions happening around the middle east and i'm here because russia isn't surprised by the worldwide lack of media interest he's worked in these really place for decades reporting from media both foreign and local there is a box that the international media has put israel in and there is really a palestinian conflict or so it is really. syrian conflict and anything that doesn't kind of fret into that is the immediate cycle of of news item which is
3:16 am
unfortunate this state has been dubbed your corner by some of the people here an optimism perhaps that they can bring down the government in the way the neighbors didn't talk it square. but it was the time as they were willing nonstop here they push us and that just makes hundred reyes and others angry for nine days she's been camping here furious that she can't make ends meet as a university student it makes feel sad that when egypt decided to stand up and say we've had enough and eleven and they decided to say we've had enough the media was all over there i haven't seen anyone from c.n.n. or fox news or any other you know big news channel here and it's really sad we also deserve a chance to be heard out but according to independent media consultant jeremy region the protesters need to be patient has really reached international proportions yet it's out of the government is thought. this is like an inside
3:17 am
trauma world story and that is a bit of a problem when you're looking from overseas trying to figure out what to cover and it's not there you know the cut of the economy is collapsing but long before the economy collapses the protesters here might have to throw in the towel because as demonstrators of emerging from the world without the international press and without the pressure of foreign governments the protest can go only so far to see on t.v. television as a matter. of blogger danny schechter says that the reality of life in israel often goes unnoticed because the country only a trust coverage for its role in conflicts. many americans think somehow the israeli government is very popular the leaders of israel are to get a lot of attention in the american media israel is presented almost as a model with the country when it's actually an extremely divided country
3:18 am
a massive protest of the kind we've seen in israel about you just the economic realities that people there are experiencing is something americans have no understanding of because there's no context in the reporting israel's only reported in the context of this conflict with iran or its conflict with palestinians the actual reality of life in israel what's happening to people there and how this right wing government in israel is handling the economy is something that we never really hear about whatsoever it's a very unstable situation the economy there is very unstable as well you know when you look at the middle east generally speaking they talk only about the arab countries only they have internal the discord you never hear about israel's internal discord and the fact that this uprising essentially is taking place in israel while the same time there's one going on in syria there's one going on in egypt you know shows that the same pressures are being experienced by israeli

our welcome to our business out that this hour the united states may have avoided default they all have stats but that has created little optimism on the markets and stead investors are focusing on the poor state of the world economy also adding concern is the fact that washington will be cutting spending by tony half trillion dollars over the next ten years. we've used you in plays we're going to see some significant cuts in public spending in the second part of gear exactly at a time when the u.s. economy slowing down so obviously you need some reply some good old divisions downward revisions and green growth united states and united states is the biggest economy in the world i think that we're going to see some growth down to the regions in the world i mean such climate environment usually russia doesn't do very well we have demographic calculations we estimated if. growth united states for example is but you see reduced by one percent growth you in russia could actually suffer by two percentage points which is not non-trivial nontrivial impact. looking at the markets all prices are under pressure following
