just off the five pm on friday here in moscow you with. sushi. world markets are back with their losses but remain unstable after the shoppers fall since two thousand and eight that decline raised fears of another wave of the global recession and with the slowing u.s. economy and e.u. debt crisis down a bushel is following the markets from brussels. the euro virus is spreading to new countries france and belgium all next day yields have hit record highs again as germany's the u.k.'s financial services authority has asked british banks to reveal how much debt they hold in belgium on fears that that country could be next italy and spain have entered crisis talks with the e.u. as their yields hit critical new highs so now you have investors pulling out of

france italy and spain the second third and fourth largest eurozone economies and that is why the investors in the markets are panicking the moment the leaders of france spain and germany are holding an emergency teleconference to try and stop the open rails and to coming out the top you have italian prime minister silvio berlusconi and his finance minister openly disagreeing on this solution solutions to the crisis and the e.u. president jose manuel barroso slammed on discipline communication by e.u. leaders for making the crisis worse and germany is furious at such an open attack this time when it's already critical as in europe we've seen that america really suffering and raising the debt ceiling doesn't tackle the key problem which is making the problem worse given the more debt and their economy is weak because they know the euro the u.s. have really started to tackle the key issue yesterday was the wall street was years
9:05 am
there was steep slumps in the share price and there are now fears that america will go back into recession which would strongly hit not just america but the whole world economy and u.s. and europe politicians keep trying to reassure the public that everything is ok but it's investors who are really making decisions they're the ones that are pulling their money out of these markets and they're saying that they don't they don't like the situation at the moment at all he's done a bushel i mean time hong kong based executive head business consultant says that america europe's financial uncertainty is making investors. we've seen that the economies here in asia pacific have done very well over the last two to three years they survived the previous financial crisis china is looking at about nine percent growth this year india eight percent and don't forget indonesia at about six point five percent that's about forty five percent of the world's population
9:06 am
these are populations that have been been growing economic wealth has been growing so there are now significant spenders on retail themselves we've seen tremendous growth in the property market particularly in china we've seen china's car market now become the world's largest car market and i think the major companies are looking for growth in asia pacific and they're diverting their attention to these markets and of course our business their schools are keeping us up to date on the relevance of demetrius here in our having his eye on the market and in particular the latest u.s. unemployment report what else do you know well actually was expected the u.s. would add seventy five to eighty five new jobs the report came in half an hour ago saying one hundred seventeen thousand workers were added to payrolls so that came in much better than expected therefore we are seeing markets rebounding already
9:07 am
this effectively means that the slowdown in economic recovery is not as harsh as everybody expected say yesterday when the biggest nosedive since two thousand and eight occurred so markets right now rebounding russian markets are almost completely almost completed pair the losses that they've seen today and futures for the u.s. markets indicate that we are most likely to see a positive kickoff of trade in twenty minutes time we'll have all all and that all the latest figures and analysis in our business world in around fifteen minutes time. amid all the doing gloom here regarding economics or an r.t.s. certainly some positive news knew there was going to be more details about twenty times thank you. president medvedev is urging syria's leader bashar assad to kickstart reforms and the violence in his country before it's too late to me treatment was giving an extensive interview to artsy as well as a radio and georgian t.v. channel pic here's a preview bear in mind though the full version of the interview is coming up next
9:08 am
hour here on arts. the situation in syria has taken a dramatic turn a real politician should follow developments like gadhafi gave violent orders to destroy the opposition the syrian president gave no such orders but unfortunately a lot of people are dying in syria this is our biggest concern in my private conversation with the president of syria and in the private letters i sent him i discussed the same ideas reforms need to be carried out but you should establish peace with the opposition establish peace in the country and create a smoking state if he fails to do that then a sad future awaits and at the end of the day we'll have to make a decision we are watching the situation it is changing our guidelines are to. meanwhile anti-government protests continue across syria despite an ongoing crackdown by the military reports suggest five days of an assault on the city of

they lie in the deep sea deposits of the mid atlantic ridge. has details of this potentially huge deal. russia has fifteen years to explore the the seabed off the mid atlantic ridge in order to find out whether indeed this is spec to gold and copper ore are in fact contained there and if the research proves to be successful if they do find a war in the mid atlantic ridge that that means i should get the priority in the development of that field but this has never been done before no country has ever applied for the development off the seabed into in international waters until last year china has decided that they wanted to ask for permission to research for any potential valuable materials in the in these seabed off the indian ocean so this of course brought forth a many opportunities for other countries who are interested in develop development of such resources particularly for russia there's the the arctic the arctic sea
9:16 am
russia is very interested in possible developments of a well and gas resource there in fact russia has for quite some time has been trying to prove that the alone also a bridge in the arctic sea is in fact a continuation of russia's continental shelf and if they do prove that that in fact is the case of other countries agree with russia that that means russia will get to develop the possible incredibly rich oil and gas resources in that field of course russia has to compete with other countries who are also vying for the for the peace of the arctic by in those countries of course are canada the united states denmark norway and interestingly enough china. with breaking news this hour ukrainian court has ordered the arrest of the high profile opposition politician former prime minister yulia timoshenko she's been on trial since june for allegedly exceeding the whole thora to well signing gas deals with

a whole and its influence here in russia alison bit more to region. to our breaking news this hour here at our two. a ukrainian court has ordered the arrest of the high profile opposition politician former prime minister yulia tymoshenko she's been on trial since june for allegedly exceeding her oath already while signing gas deals with russia in two thousand and nine that was during her time in office as the country's prime minister she has been arrested for what's being called a misbehavior in court accused of obstructing the questioning of witnesses prosecutors say her alleged crimes cost the country over one hundred fifty million dollars to which i was one of the leaders of the orange revolution and later plunged the country into political chaos when the alliance broke. our time out for the business news with dmitri.
9:24 am
welcome to the business update on our two u.s. stock futures are rallying following a positive jobs report in the world's biggest economy payrolls in the u.s. rose by one hundred seventeen thousand workers after a meager forty six thousand increase in june now a strong expected report may spark a rebound on the market from its worst drop since october two thousand make pizza weston chief strategist at on capitol standing by peter thank you so much for being with us so what do you make of this report. well it's a piece of good news in what has been a really bad week and i think that what you're seeing is it's proving that the u.s. economy is still growing but more than that. still people are worried about a recession i think what you're seeing the market rebound is really investors clinging on to a little piece of good news in this kind of environment so i don't think that we should read anything. too soon to say. people were watching the coming data very closely and the issues that were negative issues that were there yesterday are
9:25 am
still there today it's just a little bit of sort of a little bit of a golden lining if you want ok so you think there's a just a little breathing pause then for investors to to to stop by and have a bit of rest before falling even further then. yeah i mean this is what we call a relief rally which easily can turn south again if you see something coming out of spain and italy or anything else coming out of us very easily returning downwards again ok what do you make of the performance of the russian markets in the past couple of days i mean we've seen the dow drop more than four percent nasdaq five percent russian markets dropped two percent now they're coming back from losses today. yes i mean emerging markets actually have outperformed the developed market overall or the exception i guess has been brazil russia has had the benefit of having the oil price having held up pretty well it plunged five percent yesterday. but otherwise the fundamentals within the russian economy and fairly cheap fairly
9:26 am
cheap market although we can argue that oil oil companies are cheap for a reason that has probably been helping the russian economy sort of the russian market quite a bit but nevertheless we have seen the russian stocks taking quite a beating yesterday continue today in the beginning and you know when we see a relief rally we can probably expect the developed markets to bounce back harder than the emerging markets given that they fell more in the last couple of days all right so what sex is of the russian companies in the russian market so do you think are most interesting for investors that time of great bull mathilde's here right now. well it's well it's obviously been your view on the market but if you you know my view is probably that we will see more bad news coming out and therefore we could see the markets go south further and historically if you look at the last forced big declines the sectors that were really you know the wonderful the least were what you can call defensive sectors those were mainly telecom and consumers and to a lesser center till it is so those are probably the sectors that i would try and
9:27 am
maintain exposure to if i have to be in russia in this environment and also gold companies within the metal segment which is obviously being quite hard hit because there's quite a cyclical gold say you know fairly safe haven but on the other hand why not buy gold directly all right so you think gold is still a good buy then do you think you my breach seventeen hundred pounds next week. i don't know but i mean i think that the downside risk is less in gold than in equities all right so next week are we expecting to see the same kind of levels of volatility and what kind of stats should we be on the lookout for. well we have the week to start the labor start as always to us but i think it all depends on what comes out of europe and the us and mainly i think the real concern right now is really europe. italy and spain are you know u.s. office is too big to fail but within europe you can manage to
9:28 am
a bailout if you want portugal greece. but if you're looking at the size of the economies of spain and italy. then you have a really big problem on your hands at that that's what people are probably going to be looking most clothes for the next week ok just one final quick question today when everything looked absolutely red on the markets after the great fall in new york in asia the only two in the series which were gaining with the madrid and the milan exchange in the series. so i did not get that sorry. repeat that the only two exchanges for out the day today with that we're gaining were the tally and my b. index and the backs of the madrid stock exchange why is that yes you've seen the interest rates coming down on the bonds and that has helped the market quite a bit but i think what people will be looking for when it comes to europe is what the what the e.c.b. and the year european commission will do regarding waiting for the funds into the relief fund because right now it is my view would be that it's not enough to
9:29 am
sustain you know if you would have a serious situation in spain and italy. you know it's anybody's guess but it looks kind of boring to me ok peter weston chief strategist at capital thank you so much for being with us and for your comments. right let's move quickly to the markets gold is still edging up what we've been talking about with peter eleven and a half dollars per troy ounce the silver being just a notch twenty cents that's after of course concerns over us in euro zone economies have been pushing investors over the past couple of weeks as we've seen a tremendous rally for gold this is of course a safe haven asset and it still remains so. while now world prices making a slight comeback. fifty cents brant one dollar fifty cents this light suites now stand. eighty seven dollars a barrel when it was eighty four the previous session. move over to europe the

markets recovering slightly as we're looking at a positive opening of the u.s. markets all sectors still trading in the red though indeed we did see the footsie and the dax decline more than three percent earlier in the day which is now point seven dax half a percent royal bank of scotland has recovered after plunging twenty one percent early in the day after reporting seven second quarter loss. here in russia one more hour to go of trading in moscow my six is down by just one percent r.t.s. still losing quite a lot two percent there if we look at the main movers on the my sex energy majors are still losing the most gas form down almost three percent more than two percent it's seen its lowest level since december of that world plunging in new york the previous session that's all speculation if you will demand will fall to financial stocks also.
