new front of. international news. in. the russian capital so. soaring back their losses but remain unstable after the sharpest fall since two thousand and eight that decline raised fears of another wave of the global recession and the slowing u.s. economy and e.u. debt crisis well it is daniel bushell is following the markets from brussels. the euro virus is spreading to new countries france and belgium all next day yields have hit record highs against germany's the u.k.'s financial services authority has asked british banks to reveal how much debt they hold in belgium on fears that that
12:04 pm
country could be next italy and spain have entered crisis talks with the e.u. as they yield critical new highs so now you have investors pulling out of france italy and spain. eurozone economies and that is why the investors in the markets are panicking the moment the leaders of france spain and germany are holding an emergency teleconference to try and stop the open relative to coming out the top you have prime minister silvio berlusconi and his finance minister openly disagreeing on this solution solutions to the crisis and the e.u. president jose manuel barroso slammed on discipline communication by e.u. leaders for making the crisis worse and germany is furious at such an open a tank this time when it's already critical as in europe we've seen america really
12:05 pm
suffering and raising the debt ceiling doesn't tackle the key problem which is making the problem worse giving them more debt and that their economy is weak because they know the your the u.s. have really started to tackle that key issue yesterday was the wall street worst day in years there was steep slumps in the share price and there are now fears that america will go back into recession which would strongly hit not just america but the whole world economy and the u.s. and europe politicians keep trying to reassure the public that everything is ok but it seems who are really making decisions they're the ones that are pulling their money out of these markets and they're saying that they don't they don't like the situation at the moment at all daniel bushell reporting brussels well for more analysis on what the market panic means for the global economy i'm joined from berlin by economic analyst michael ross michael good to see their imbalance or what's your view of the situation what's led to the markets to nosedive today.
12:06 pm
i tell you one thing this is not a normal crisis and this was not the normal crash that we had this week. it was the beginning of the end and you have to be very serious off that i tell you it's the beginning of the end and it will spell also the end of capitalism in my view what is the illness that has three got all these problems the illness is called debt all western nations over debt they lose their credibility and what happens when they lose their credibility then banks are going bankrupt and i tell you another thing only in a short time all banks all of the most important banks worldwide in the western world will be taken over by a government by the governments and another thing it's not the discussion about the euro and the debts in europe of this is of course a problematic issue it was the discussion about the debt ceiling in united states that you get this mess it has begun on monday after the compromise that we saw in washington which was
12:07 pm
a foolish compromise and then the market escaped the market participants as from the markets they're sold their debts and we have we are in very very big problems and i don't cannot see any solution or dog take expert takes. problem all the only cure they don't know is to produce more debt but the debt is already. the issue of this crisis is already the cause of this crisis so how can you solve this crisis with more debts so i don't see any solution you say the beginning of the end you were there in berlin you did talk about the euro are you saying actually it's the end of the euro the end of the eurozone in sight now. i think at the moment are politicians and brussel would do anything everything in order to avoid a break up in the euro because. let's face it if the euro breaks then this will trigger the end of the capitalistic system then we will have
12:08 pm
a worldwide crash and there's already the fear that is in the markets but don't only point to europe i mean if you take europe as a whole also with the problematic countries all together they are not as to the situation and you know it's the ok ok so this is almost the overseen let me quickly ask you you talk about a worldwide crash as bad as we've seen in two thousand and eight. i think. we are in a global crisis this global crisis was more or less. already in two thousand and seven then we. have debt ceiling then we've put more fuel more debt into the system and now we are entering into the second or third. one third final step of this crisis this means the politicians and experts at the end of their means what can they do the only thing that they can do is austerity measurements to measurements need to be solid already in portugal in greece that means unrest within the people
12:09 pm
in the several countries so that we are in a call the sec but magazine is in is the situation really is bad as it is when we look at how the politicians particularly in europe and of course in the u.s. it seems they seem to be giving the message of total lack of confidence to investors to the markets and it's all about politics rather than the real financial tangible things that are going on at the moment isn't it the politicians at fault are not giving people the confidence they need at the moment. you know the petition the politicians have done everything they could in order to make people disbelieve i mean the discussion about the debt ceiling in united states that went on for ages more or less for weeks has destroyed the credibility and united states everybody knows my grandmother but the problem the united states is not solved when they. put up the debt ceiling so everybody knows that we are in a big mess that we have right to be just briefly are no solutions ok just briefly
12:10 pm
no solution big problem you really are giving a very depressing picture what does that mean for the average person in the street you and me what does actually mean to our lives we are in unprecedented waters and we have to admit this we have to look for real solutions we must we must see we must admit that this system as we know it is not longer working we have only we are only solving the symptoms we're not going to the real cause what is what so what i can in terms of a gift to everybody is to check out if he has enough precious metals buy some gold buy some sort of you know talk recently to a big professor to a very well known professor so you could be you said ok spend your money as long as you get something for it all right thanks a lot that's all we got time for a fairly depressing as for me michel but always interesting to hear what you have to say economic analyst and author michael ross joining us live there in bottom
12:11 pm
thanks. prism if it is urging syria's leader bashar assad to kick start reforms and the violence in his country before it's too late for me to move it was giving an extensive interview to r.t. as well as. radio and georgian t.v. channel p.-i karina here's a preview for you and the full version of the interview is coming up in about twenty minutes from now. unfortunately the situation in syria has taken a dramatic turn we real politicians should follow developments like gadhafi gave violent orders to destroy the opposition the syrian president gave no such orders unfortunately a lot of people are dying in syria this is our biggest concern in my private conversation with the president of syria and in the private letters i sent him i discussed the same ideals reforms need to be carried out but you should establish peace with the opposition establish peace in the country with them create a new state if he fails to do that then a sad future awaits and at the end of the day we'll have to make
12:12 pm
a decision so we are watching the situation it is changing our guidelines are to. blame on antigovernment protests continue across syria despite an ongoing crackdown by the military reports suggest at least eight more protesters have been killed as the assault on the city of hama continues and says an opposition dismissed a decree from president assad proposing a multi-party government system say the violence has to end before donald begins the u.s. says it's really working with its allies to apply more pressure on syria beyond sanctions. and you can always find more on all the stories we're covering on screen on our website it's our dot com also picture galleries blogs and expert analysis we online all the time and some quick look at what's lined up for you that right now prison diary and the victim booth on trial in the u.s. gives his account a hardship and an american jails and political dealings which may be behind his
12:13 pm
case highlights on a website. and also that russia's envoy to nato says the alliance is preparing a military operation in violence torn syria just four months after going into libya for more of his interview to the web site. unrest has broken out in central kiev after ukrainian judge ordered the arrest of former prime minister yulia tymoshenko citing contempt of court she's been on trial since june over alleged misuse of power while signing gas deals with russia in two thousand and nine parties and has more now from the ukrainian capital. good country so ukraine's former prime minister placed on the arrest before that she was
12:14 pm
simply forbid him to leave the country now the trial will continue with her being in the detention center behind bars now indeed the atmosphere in and outside the court building here in central kiev has been completely electrifying over the past month or so the supporters of huge emotional several hundred of them have been gathering here voicing their protest against what they describe as a politicized case and indeed today the scenes were pretty much reminding of all too familiar scenes from ukraine's parliament several years back fighting accusations all this has been of the picture of today from inside the courtroom from inside the court building indeed one of the former prime minister was taking out of the court building and was put into the armored vehicle which was to transport her to a detention center the supporters of some of them included included the deputies of the parliament attacked the bus and tried to block its way but clearly the policeman make sure that the bus normally on the. as we understand is now delivered
12:15 pm
to the detention center but it certainly is a great fall from grace for the woman who was once considered to be one of the most influential politicians in the world just eighteen months ago you became a center was ukraine's prime minister now she can find she can easily become the country's most high profile convict back in the times when she was at power in the range of government as the prime minister had two spells in fact as prime minister ever since the two thousand and five orange revolution those were the times of political chaos constant. political fighting between her and the president and the gas deals with russia which is now she's being accused of striking illegally happened in those times certainly those were the turbulent times now with the new power here in ukraine the power. it still seems to be the power structure seems to be more or less stable but clearly this. present going to overturn the party of
12:16 pm
regions made it clear that. is a criminal and they believe she is she is to blame for huge loss of money from the . budget that is hundreds of billions of dollars and that is why this is happening right now. and the reporting that i want to discuss the latest developments in ukraine i'm now joined live from london by little gordon and she's an expert on countries from global insight russia thanks very much indeed for joining us now following scenes out there in the ukrainian capital at the moment of the former prime minister supporters protest a rest could we see this on rest grow into something bigger do you think it's very difficult to say it could grow into something bigger or could be localized my guess is it will be more localized rather than widespread. political movement simply because the lectures happened on last year and lost in the elections so the
12:17 pm
country is sort of divided and there isn't usually massive step forward for the people take to the streets and start political change through popular uprising will of course she is pretty famous isn't she for her aggressive political style and we know now of course that she's been arrested for content of court could this be seen as a tactic by her to to gain attention. i don't think so i think she's already in the center of attention i think i don't think this was a calculated move i think. she's been always quite charismatic political leader opposition there and this is her political stuff she's very outspoken and she doesn't hide her emotions so i don't see any political calculation behind all those we understand the political situation is far more stable now and of course the elections happened last year could be
12:18 pm
a political motive behind this at the moment. do you mean he's a risk her yes her wrist yes there is actually a hidden agenda by this a political one rather than a judicial legal one. well it boils down to one argument the president viktor yanukovych. abused her power when she agreed to a high gas prices and effectively the current government is paying a political price for it because they're forced to increase domestic retail prices for gas however tricky issue here. called himself when he was in opposition he was unnecessarily acting has in mind the economic interest of the country so to turn to machinery and to scapegoat and take her to
12:19 pm
court to punish for her political decisions somehow amounts to political persecution. could she end up in jail. there is a possibility but we all have to wait and see and what about just finally thinking back to the orange revolution from the movement do you think there could be any other figures who eventually could get in to power despite the stability we're seeing at the moment. well the last elections last presidential election. the orange revolution leader and former president. left. i think something about four percent. the lowest in recent history of democracy so i don't think he has any chance of coming back you'll just have to wait and see how to machine comes
12:20 pm
out of this but at the moment i think the current authorities and current government are quiet from any position. well very interesting developments there at the moment in ukraine in kiev thanks so much for joining us live. global insight russia and c.n.n.'s political analyst in london good to hear we have to say thank you thank you. the u.n. is given russia access to what's thought to be the planet's biggest gold and copper fields for exploration but it won't come easy they line the deep sea deposits of the mid atlantic ridge. has the details of the deal. russia has fifteen years to explore the the deep sea bed off the mid atlantic ridge in order to find out whether indeed this is spec to gold and copper or are in fact contained there and if the research proves to be successful if they do find a war in the mid atlantic ridge that means russia gets the priority in the
12:21 pm
development of that field but this has never been done before no country has ever applied for the development of the seabed into in national waters until last year china has decided that they wanted to ask for permission to research for any potential valuable material in the in the seabed off the indian ocean so this of course brought forth a many opportunities for other countries who are interested in develop development of such resources particularly for russia there's the the arctic the arctic sea russia is very interested in possible developments of a loyal and gas resource there in fact russia has for quite some time has been trying to prove that the alone also a bridge in the arctic sea is in fact a continuation of russia's continental shelf and if they do prove that that in fact is the case of other countries agree with russia that that means russia will get to develop the possible incredibly rich oil and gas resources in that field of course
12:22 pm
russia has to compete with other countries who are also vying for the for the peace of the arctic by in those countries of course are canada the united states denmark norway and interestingly enough china. time now to have a look at some other international headlines now in our world update that's ahead of the business news with dmitri libya's government to describe reports that the youngest son of moammar gadhafi was killed in a nato air strike as a dirty trick the rebels claim that twenty eight year old comics gadhafi was among the thirty two who died in the raid which the alliance says targeted an ammunition that by the military police facility in a town south east of tripoli may want to get his other sons were killed along with three grandchildren when a nato bomb hit the house they were in. thailand has its first ever female head of government has been elected prime minister after her party secured a parliamentary majority she is the sister of the former minister. overthrown in
12:23 pm
a military coup five years ago he was charged with corruption and fled the country you know she might try to come back now his sister is in charge. for that promise business news with dmitri news from london where the islamic leadership tensions of a very different kind in britain at the moment with hard line was the most trying to enforce sharia law in the capital from abstention to amputation ortiz or emmett's being hearing help they want to instill their tough code on the capital. so we are here to tell you that islam. is unstoppable in europe stoning for adultery cutting off hands for stealing the renouncing islam this group of men is trying to enforce shari'a law in the u.k. they've started a campaign to make certain areas of london and other cities islamic law control zones starting with wealth of. muslims will be good of getting even because of
12:24 pm
these farmers will try to for the most of all muslim community also looking to believe that muslims can live together trade according to the sharia was all their problems. and even police themselves to a large extent hopefully one day to have a summit governments will have authority locally security locally and you provide welfare locally choudhry and his friends are fly posting parts of london with large muslim populations they want to ban drinking gambling and playing music and they say they've got bands of young men ready to patrol and in full. by any means now that enforcement will not initially be on the level of inviting and it didn't but if someone has the capability to be. like pornography. if you do so. if i that you we are thinking of course i believe there. should be run out of. these muslims say british society is riddled with drugs crime and prostitution
12:25 pm
because of that they firmly believe members of the communities that targeting will welcome sharia law but the word on the street about the campaign tells a different story comes down to if you don't like the laws of the place you live for and some. things are completely legal in this country this is not indira pakistan this is only laws people have rights can you bring the laws in here we often have trouble but martin isa agrees saying this could destroy community cohesion we've. taken down the posts this assumes that put up because we do not want these posters around i do not represent views about power and that they have no place to move from forest this is an equality campaign is real support it shouldn't be considered a religious movement has a right to political organization with a place to campaign designed to divide and conquer communities there danger lies in
12:26 pm
dividing people dividing communities creating mistrust and particularly among from non muslims towards moderate muslims i think this is part of their aim is to create mistrust so they can then turn to moderate muslims and say look everyone hates you where your friend turn to us and it's a very very dangerous thing and it's a political tactic to increase their own power undeterred by. his group plan what they see is the beginning of an islamic emirate not just of the all over europe police have mobilized to take these posters down as fast as they appear but choudhry and his group say they formed bands of vigilante and forces to make sure syria is. virtually all physically and in other parts of london women have already been harassed for not covering their head if these muslims ever get their way i won't be able to dress like this on the streets. or many other parts of london
12:27 pm
brussels rome and paris and it's r.t. well. twenty five minutes past the hour and i'll be back to recap our headlines for in about five minutes from now in the meantime the latest business news with dmitri . thanks very much bill hemmer and one welcome to the business seen u.s. markets seesawing even after a positive jobs report payrolls in the u.s. rose by one hundred seventeen thousand workers after a forty six thousand increase in june a stronger than expected report sparked a rebound without hasn't so far continued peter weston from out on capital police what we've been seeing is a relief rally and logical ground. i think that what you're seeing is it's proving that the the u.s. economy is still growing but. still people are worried about the recession i think
12:28 pm
we're just seeing the market rebound it's really investors clinging on to a little piece of good news in this kind of environment so i don't think we should read anything. too soon to say. people were watching the coming data very close to . the negative issues that were there yesterday are still there today it's just a little bit of sort of a little bit of a golden lining if you want this is what we call a relief rally which you can turn south again if you see something coming out of spain and italy or anything else coming out of us very slowly returning downwards the. long global in a season fluctuating. capital group says russian markets are likely to be the first to see an obvious way. russia has had a fantastic run look at the my six it's had a great run over the last few weeks or so slowly start to come off it's coming off from the highs and with the increased amount of exposure to us that with a high amount of exposure to the oil and gas markets i feel there is near downside
12:29 pm
for russian equities to be had but when the recovery comes it will come at some point then the russian market does seem very well positioned to benefit quite significantly from its fryers move to the markets and we start with the commodities oil prices are coming down yet again light sweet was our paul for dollar for the sessions now down under two to eighty four dollars fifty four cents brant and just a one hundred seven dollars per barrel this is on the back of course of worries over global demand for crude because of problems in the united states where the dow jones is dropping get another half a percent of nasdaq one point six percent after their biggest one day drop on thursday since december two thousand and eight so what we're seeing in europe at the close is also a negative picture of the four to see down by another two point seven two point eight percent having fallen by three point four percent the previous session banks
12:30 pm
were one of the main drags the world bank of scotland fooling twenty one percent at one point after reporting a second quarter loss but of course the share came back by the end of the session. in russia joined the panic across international trading floors with the r.t.s. shedding three percent my six two percent at the close look at some of the individual share movers then energy stocks some of the biggest losers gazprom losing two point eight percent two and a half percent telecom plunged eighty percent sure to be opening of friday's session but managed to close for a whole percent. and isn't south he will be back in fifty five minutes time with an update to bill's next.
