thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy show jewel to be on r.t. and to answer a number of questions that i'd like to put to you and get your latest thoughts on domestic issues and international issues and i'll start if i may with the story that made all the news headlines for the past six months that's unfolded in north africa in the middle east that's been the arab spring what are your views on the arab spring and we've spoken about it before but i just wanted to hear your latest thoughts do you think it's a popular uprising for the better to bring democracy or you think it's something maybe that's been orchestrated from abroad over to you so. so on the one we report we've seen very important developments in our region and in north africa it's not only about the people in the region today justice and dignity are among the requirements of all human beings africa has the same aspirations and i think our region has the ability to run our own countries and they have the ability to reach
4:32 pm
their goals and objectives it's important to take note on the interference of nato in the region nato has interfered in the affairs of libya the security council has made a mistake instead of sending bombs and planes to libya they should have sent mediation groups in order to prepare for free elections under the auspices of the un and whoever won the elections would be acceptable for the people but the security council hastily issued a resolution and it has complicated the situation that has led to the killings and the massacre of people and destruction of infrastructure in the country. do you think iran needs to liberalize do you think you should introduce more political reforms to maybe head off something similar happening in this country as well at some point in the future does it worry you at all. i think the entire world needs more freedom and more than everybody else in the world the europeans and the americans need freedom in europe is there freedom really is there real freedom in the united states they're beating people in the streets do you think the dissenting
4:33 pm
voices in your country of which there are some are listening to you do you give any heed to what they have to say to you. i think we have more freedom in iran than other countries on the voices are heard more than in other countries i am among the people and i am in close contact with the people we have mass media we have free press and they criticize the government but if you think i'm going to say we have an ideal situation where in the world can you find a fully ideal country iran is among the best countries in the world in this respect we've never said we are perfect should be a comparison that's look now at your neighbors no relationship with some of your nearest neighbors or thinking bahrain yemen lebanon iraq. some of those countries have been complaining you're meddling in their internal affairs do they have a point. you have we done a bad thing that we said that people should not be killed in bahrain what bad thing did we do do you call it interference who is using military force in bahrain are we
4:34 pm
doing that who is interfering in the internal affairs of the region show me one place or one location in the world where iranian military forces are present there is no such place that the british forces american forces nato forces there around us everywhere there surrounding iran and those same forces say iran is interfering in the internal affairs of the region what can we say to that. only recently iran announced that you've stepped up production of new centrifuges faster better centrifuges to make better higher quality. the question mark is why i know you said all the long line of rand does not want nuclear weapons ran is a peaceful country but of course a lot of people in the west don't believe that they do feel that there's not enough transparency do you think this country you should be doing more to make it more transparent that if we don't like that some countries have nuclear weapons if we're
4:35 pm
going to be against nuclear weapons we must rise in opposition to current nuclear arsenals their own oil many nuclear arsenals in belgium in germany and other european countries. let me just get this straight are you saying that in some point in the future you may want to acquire a nuclear deterrent a nuclear weapon. never never we do not want nuclear weapons we do not seek nuclear weapons this is only inhuman where our religion says it is prohibited and we are religious people have nuclear weapons have no capability to if any country tries to build a nuclear bomb in fact they waste their money and resources and they create great danger for themselves the international equations are not determined by nuclear arsenals today. nuclear bombs and nuclear weapons and could they win in iraq and afghanistan could the nuclear weapons help the israelis to gain victory as lebanon and gaza could nuclear weapons help the former soviet union from collapse. nuclear
4:36 pm
weapons weapons of the previous century our goal in the country and the goal of our people is peace for all nuclear energy for nuclear weapons for none all nuclear activities in iran are monitored by the. there will be no documents against iran from the agency it's just a claim by the us that we are all to nuclear weapons. ever considered possible that the united states could make strike against you could launch military action against your country does it worry you. they want to do it but they know. they know that we would give them a very decisive response. when you say a decisive response. what you talking about. we would give them a crushing response that's a normal reaction we have a saying if someone throws a small stone you reply with a bigger one we will defend ourselves to our full capability but i hope that will
4:37 pm
never come there's no reason for war why should they attack us this regards israel and yes there's no reason ever to go to war with them there's no reason to make a first strike a preemptive strike against would you have. the case of the zionist regime is different created with a purpose of threats and aggression it was created to secure the interest of the west if there's a didn't arise occupy all threat it wouldn't exist they've been created solely for that purpose and in the past sixty years they've always done the same thing they've always behaved the same way but anyway they can look at the world map they can see a rather there and our history and geopolitics. nuclear power plant which has been in development for a long time obviously is a country must be very much looking forward to that coming on stream to give you nuclear power you know when the launch date will be know the operational date when it feeds the grid they will need it will be operational they say before the end of
4:38 pm
the year there is no problem of course it's part of the relationship between us and russia but of course that can be seen by the world community and the entire international community watches how russians are building our nuclear power plant a lot of focus on china a fast developing country actively promoting itself here in iran at the moment how do you see iranian development both ways do you think you'll be selling more of your energy to china in the future. we have a two way relationship. and they enjoy centuries old civilizations and consciousness we've always maintained friendly ties and today we have identical views on international development for the common denominator in our relationship based on justice for all. relationship with russia has always been very good but it was a little shaky when for the first time russia decided to go with sanctions
4:39 pm
imposed here you said that was inadmissible last year and acceptable what i relations with russia now. iran and russia are two neighbors geographically we should always remain neighbors we cannot change that reality because we cannot move on and we must be friends and we must remain friends we must be in a position to make use of these resources are common views earlier i had very good talks with mr putin and also very useful discussions with president medvedev i hope will be able to expand our bilateral relations especially with regard to the present global economic and political changes iran and russia can offer common solutions to the current international troubles and the two sides must develop their ties and contacts and hopefully we'll be able to increase the level of those bilateral relationships in twenty thirteen you'll be coming to the end of your a second and final presidential term you've been extremely busy for the last eight years what are you going to do there what does a president then become what are you looking forward to doing and what will you miss about the job we have free elections in our country whoever is elected by the
4:40 pm
people will be the right one and this is the right of our nation they have the right to freely elect anybody they wish and i will help them i mean university professor to preserve his job and profession and they'll continue to serve the nation anywhere and at the university they'll be no problem. ask you know what you will most miss about the job what you most enjoyed about the job. myself. ok. president. thank you so much for taking the time to be with r.t. international preciousness very much appreciated. this is a table from the u.s. embassy in colombo to talk about here an apparent june seventh incident of extrajudicial executions the military ordered to press that on that date killed

nine guerrillas desiccation by instructs you including you know and then strongly suggest however that the nine were executed by the army and then dressed in military fatigues. explain how you know this kind of phenomenon where bodies are dressed up as guerrillas and presented as killed in action and this and this idea that you need to produce these actually encouraged paramilitary collaboration this is a cia document central intelligence agency they knew about these activities they knew they were happening they knew about links to paramilitary groups and yet. u.s. aid continued to flow.

4:47 pm
don't know much said he staying it's just my previous from the move to angie well i think on that kind of did to that level six minutes after the break a joint top of the league's score is list one zero is how it stayed with china spread his men at two points off the top. while elsewhere attacked for duty to cover the day before and as the moscow pub cruised past the dragons down side three no there's no theory no brazilian striker our you regrouped to find a nest but you don't do that with thirty five minutes gone he then turned to provide that nine minutes later than me to come out of netted from close range at first like an elbow only that was number surprise go spots are applied as much pressure off to the recent not that it's in the close love to me third most of the last of the day after seventy three minutes. well look at what you must have yet to taste defeat since the arrival of new coach jersey crucero last month even though they failed to score for a second straight game the railway men were held to another goalless draw this time
4:48 pm
but you boys vulgar the need to see george has arguably the closest to break the deadlock strike i've seen each of them from side. but elsewhere on the above your struck what proved to be the like we're now putting cyclists of out of the wrong to want that class middle. england they want every team to start chasing face down to salvage a last gasp equaliser in the warm wonder ruby on saturday how side pulled ahead just before halftime the best nescio scored from the spot after the referee before handball however the tide looked to have turned in the second half. sent off the second group of offense that's that they can shave it blasted high with. golfers over the moon and it seemed he would be once again after the final whistle but in the dying seconds stoppage time ago it sprang a miracle just outside the box to square it one or was the final attack of the

match. a lot off the pitch was when the champions remain have signed paraguayan strike and nelson valdes the twenty seven year old joins from spanish side introduced on the three year deal now this was instrumental in paragons going into the quarterfinals of last year's world cup his national side also ran as a europe by last month's corporate america. meanwhile over in england ashley young struck the eighty first minute winner as managed united made a winning starts to the defense of their premier league title with a two one victory west bromwich albion united lead after thirteen minutes through a wayne rooney strike albion debutant shane long levelled up to thirty seven minutes to the visitors and goal for us every day at dives over the ball not young to save his life just the way it is later but when to defend the seeded read united victory however. there was no winning start the new manager and even the rest of his chelsea side drew nil nil at stoke and i tore a started out front instead of did a drug use with forty points and still be defending it's fine having three penalty
4:50 pm
heels turn down. the ball they won on saturday and for the first time in english premier league history it wasn't a single one on the opening day of the season promoted side queens park rangers were thrashed four nil at home to bolton while wolves were somewhat like you in france where it's like if you give you are sent off and later on in his arsenal debut as they got history will never let you call so sunderland bats back to take the point at liverpool norwich drove wigan full and aston villa also share the spoils and sort of against asics when they spend most of the rise in the wind in the week. though to sports now and casey stoner has extended his lead over reigning motor g.p. champion jorge lorenzo after the australian triumph in the czech republic to claim his sixth when the season started as repsol honda teammate dani pedrosa started for pole but crashed out early in the race and stoner never looked back after class to finish just six and a half seconds ahead of another teammate and where there is zero so fast improving

marco simoncelli claimed his maiden podium place just over a second for the back runs i had to settle for fourth and i trailed leaders started by thirty two points in the overall standings. we managed to to my gap after any pressure so i think bernie would have been extremely competitive today has been a weekend but unfortunately you know fortunately for us they gave us the opportunity to make a break and i want to we had you know i just kept a lot of times up my show you know i stayed nice consistent pulled away bit by bit and you know the black body in the race was fantastic so we just won. and in the meantime britain's top cyclist mark cavendish has won the test event ahead of next summer's london olympics the monks misawa sprinted to victory in a road race over almost one hundred forty kilometers which is nearly whole for as long as the projected. grace the twenty six year old train for the green points josie that's the tour de france last month and was once again documents of course the finish line a book from progress that is playing and then pick gold will still be
