6:30 pm
you know sometimes see a story and it seems so for lack of sleep you think you understand it and then you glimpse something else you hear see some other part of it and realize that everything is ok if you don't i'm sorry welcome to the big picture. see. and yet. i. feel for the first few.
6:31 pm
let's not forget that we had an apartheid regime right here. i think even funny well. we never got the look says there keep him safe get ready because you're going to their freedom.
6:32 pm
all right it's time for tonight's truth it's not a war and tonight it goes to everyone's used to be favorite before she was completely forgotten about tea party or christine o'donnell you know the i'm not a witch lady and the former senate candidate she's now written a new book called troublemaker sort of promote her book she went on piers morgan tonight for an interview however when piers decided to grill her about one of the topics that she wrote about in her book gay marriage christine can't really care to talk about it right now i'm curious of whether you support your borderline being a little bit rude you know i really i obviously want to talk about the issues that i choose to talk about in the book and well don't you think as a host if i say this is what i want to talk about that's what we should address.
6:33 pm
really. yeah ok i'm being pulled away here we turn down another interview for this where you go you. hear. that's right christine declared it's over and just walked out and i can't say that i'm surprised that another tea partier dodge the issue of gay marriage and a one on one discussion but let's get back to christine's reaction obviously this abrupt ending to a talk show interview was enough to get the media talking so when she went off of a show the discuss what happened she didn't leave she said that she didn't leave because of the questions on gay marriage now you see according to the former candidate here is it went too far making her uncomfortable with his creepy line of questioning. as i said another interview when they're sitting there pressing you on personal intimate questions and you're saying i don't want to go there he could have said you know what's your mother's name and i would've been like c'mon let's stop i wanted to stop that borderline sexual harassment that was going on away.
6:34 pm
borderline sexual harassment is she kidding me that we just showed you the clip from the actual segment and yes piers was asking her questions guess christine that's what happens when you read the interview i love her she makes it seem like he was asking for stuff that was just so wildly out of line and inappropriate he was asking about a subject which she wrote about in her book which she went on his show to be interviewed about and the subject which happens to be a very important political debate in today's country those are not creepy questions that's called an interview now you know there is just so much material on her dabbling in witchcraft and masterbating rhetoric claiming that school shootings happen weekly because there's no prayer in school she got off easy with the questions of piers asked her but for them to go on t.v. see that his questions about gay marriage that was borderline sexual harassment that's just pathetic because you can't handle answering a simple question you cry sexual harassment it's embarrassing if the littles
6:35 pm
because of the women who are actually sexually harassed every day in this country and women who fought long and hard for protections against sexual harassment which you seem to think is just a made up idea that you can throw around for sympathy in public city well let me say i have no sympathy whatsoever for you it's high time that you stop playing the victim card because right now you're embarrassed meant to write it so for falsely claiming that she was sexually harassed by piers morgan because he asked about her position on gay marriage christine o'donnell is tonight's tool time winner. yesterday the obama administration announced a new policy when it comes to deportations of undocumented immigrants according to homeland security secretary janet napolitano the cases of three hundred thousand people currently in deportation proceedings will be reviewed on a case by case basis where the goal of providing relief to those who are in the country illegally but who pose no threat to national security or public safety and many expect young people those who were brought here as children and grew up and
6:36 pm
went to school the country who would who would have been helped excuse me by the dream act which failed to pass last year they're expecting those people to be at the top of this list see if we look at obama's record thus far last year almost four hundred thousand people were deported while the claim has always been that they focus only on the worst of the worst statistics prove otherwise only half of those reported were so-called criminals seven percent were based on traffic violations twenty three percent were drug violations fourteen percent drunk driving violations so this new move is a welcome one for those fighting against talking partition policies but is it enough how many millions will still live in fear without comprehensive immigration reform and joining me from our studio in new york is immigration attorney michael whilst managing partner and weinberg law offices but i want to thank you for joining us tonight and for starters or you i'm good thank you let's start with the legal aspect here so three hundred thousand cases which are already within this.
6:37 pm
process here are going to be reviewed on a case by case basis what does that actually mean are these people already in the system it's not like they've already been deported there in the court system. this is merely a band-aid on a cancer alone in their bed a live in million plus people here in the fully there are seven thousand ice agents about two hundred something immigration judges not enough airplanes and coughs or beds to house and deport these individuals and this is merely a band-aid on a growing cancer it's an affront to law enforcement who worked very hard to get those three hundred people into the system to say we're going to be lenient and it's really a lot of hogwash to believe that they're going to give this entitle me to the dream act candidates even one district director i think in atlanta said earlier today that they're going to ignore it as far as they're concerned it's business as usual in the going to deport people as handily as they need to four hundred thousand people were deported in the last two years the president does not have enough initiative officers or resources to remove the eleven million plus and we're going
6:38 pm
through an extraordinarily excruciating economy where these individuals not only contribute billions of dollars on to the tax role in the treasury but help remind us of the very d.n.a. that made america special and that is our immigration heritage now why do you think it is that the obama administration announced this policy now i was just ranting the other day about the fact that there are protests across the u.s. protesting about his deportation policy protests in the security community this program and nobody was covering it and the media but does this mean that the obama administration actually paid attention because they are protesting in front of his campaign offices. i'm a former federal prosecutor a former mayor and a democrat and i'm disappointed democrat in this administration and particularly on this policy the government now says they want to clear the docket from the traffic resources and focus on getting hardened criminals and felons out of this country no
6:39 pm
this is not the right message the citizens and law enforcement with our homeland preparedness in jeopardy and our economy held in the advance were immigrants can contribute from the hospitality to the agricultural hubs this is the wrong way to cure the deafening silence in washington i'm about ready to teach immigration law in a law school where my father taught for thirty two years and on the second generation immigration lawyer we all know that the powers vested in congress and just because they can't get their act together for politics doesn't mean the president should be excused on the eve of an election to put a band-aid on this issue certainly not when he goes to you know he goes to challenge governors and courts saying that they have no right to protect their financial treasuries and interests because it's a federal issue and then when given the authority does nothing again let's put the camera on the on the subject here we're talking about three hundred thousand people in the system the leniency that they're promising is nothing more than cosmetic and
6:40 pm
it's not going to address the porous borders we have the fact that we have a departure system that is broken and nonexistent and the fact that students clerics diplomats and others have guys themselves historically and have insidious terrorist cells in this country still a decade from these attacks were are we in this war on terrorism where are we on treating people you mainly they've removed people over traffic stops you have no idea how many times we get phone calls in the middle of the evening from a wife or a husband who's stopped at a red light is this what america is like these ice officers these customs border patrol are in jeopardy their lives are in jeopardy with drug cartels in the southern border and all sorts of other challenges that they have this is the wrong imperative for them to hear and the wrong cure to a broken system. i'm just curious though so you mention of course of the power here lies within congress right we're still waiting for a comprehensive immigration reform to come from congress but the interesting thing
6:41 pm
is that when the dream act was being debated last year in congress the president said that he had already used all the administrative powers that he had and yet here we have what seems to be an administrative power where the president just goes around congress and announces this new program how far could he actually take that if you wanted to i mean you call this a band-aid but not much good if you want to go. excellent question you know the president and congress have the capacity when when japan and haiti before it had all sorts of natural calamities to give authority to individuals the president and congress each have authority in the immigration act with the operations instructions the foreign affairs manual through its agencies through u.s. c.i.s. the state department to issue all sorts of relief to the millions upon millions of people that are here i'm not advocating for amnesty we don't want to create the next generation of people that will ignore laws because we are a nation of laws but we have to remind ourselves that the tools that are available
6:42 pm
to our president to our congress should be used and right now there is a debate between the two of them where they're kind of not being each other in the eyes rather than doing the people's work and the reason they're not doing it is politics and that's the reason an uneven election we're going to appear lenient but these officers these well intended law enforcement ice agents and otherwise are now getting mixed directions from their commander in chief and that again is a bad message when we have a war on terrorism afoot in the kadhimiya that's far journaling and a great tool in our arsenal that would help us on both fronts and that is immigration and i thank you so much for joining us tonight you know it definitely seems like there are a lot of people that tell think this is enough some people are happy could just be an election will see how long that is because you're actually in the right direction alone and it's a step in the right direction but fortunately it's way too late and way too smart all right michael thank you so much. well. i thought
6:43 pm
a concert i fire side friday night on tap in happy hour one g.o.p. candidate are the title of maverick because he trusts scientists on climate change and michele bachmann reveals one of her enemies the i.r.s. i'll be right back. into it only a military mechanism has to do the work to bring justice and accountability. i have every right to know what my government should do if you want to know why i pay taxes. but i would characterize obama as a charismatic version of american exceptionalism. you know sometimes you see a story and it seems so. you think you understand it and then you did something else here sees some other part of it and realize that everything is all going i'm
6:44 pm
trying hard look at the big picture. let's not forget that we had an apartheid regime right here. i think the bombings even want to quell. whatever government says they are keep them safe get ready because if you give them your freedom. for five.
6:45 pm
in tonight's. your. there needs to be a very serious and very public discussion about the crackdown on social media and cell phone service that we've seen over the last few weeks now we've covered here on this show the british prime minister threatening to shut off social networks for those they believe were using tools to participate in writes the bar transit authority shutting down cell phone service perceiving a planned protest to supposedly keep commuters say this is all
6:46 pm
a sure sign of where things are going it's a very good indicator of how the resolve react to what they consider public disturbances and it's a threat to freedom of speech to the freedom of assembly and of the ability to communicate what's most disturbing here as it is being done in the same countries which just months ago berated leaders in the arab world for doing the same thing what egypt or tunisia shut down social media as their people rising up it was considered an affront to democracy our secretary of state he's speeches launched initiatives worth millions of dollars to create programs for those dissidents to be able to circumvent the restrictions put in place by authority to leaders the freedom to communicate to organize on the internet those are spoken about as universal rights and yet when people use the exact same tools to either organize for riots in the u.k. or for peaceful protests like they did in san francisco suddenly the same tactics those dictators used those became ok and the truth is yes. you can be used for both
6:47 pm
good and for that for riots or for peaceful protest has become more reliant on these tools governments or law enforcement they're going to take it upon themselves to decide when it's good and when it's back to get about overarching principles this situation or that situation will be considered different they'll be an exception but exceptions dangerous presidents exceptions are the first steps to erosion of civil liberties we've already experienced this firsthand in here in america over the last ten years and i love it is being used as an excuse by the government to systematically strip us of our rights and create exceptions in emergency situations and the fear of our national security being at risk to pretend to make it all ok how about the patriot act how about the obama administration's continuous push to make warrants court orders likely the past they don't want them to be necessary when arthur already strapped a g.p.s. device to your vehicle without you knowing it they don't want them to be necessary when they want to obtain your internet records and just to make it
6:48 pm
a little easier to excuse themselves congress is now trying to force i ask these to store your data for up to a year by law so i thought these can access more and with fewer restrictions were disposed to accept it all because they know better what a dangerous world it really is it's for our own good. then it is the other hand if you dare speak out if you act out against any of it for example he greeters brutality of the barclays we hear ability to fight for the people security is then going to be stopped in its tracks by whatever means necessary does that seem like a fair deal to you is it definitely doesn't to me now thankfully i'm not the only one noticing this is why we've seen have to this groups organizations like we can make a mark but it's time for this kind of fight for transparency for the freedom to share information and communicate to become mainstream to stop being scared into submission stop thinking that exceptions were made just exceptions stop being distracted by politicians who want you to focus on our divisions rather. what's
6:49 pm
actually in our neutral interest and that's our access to technology our ability to communicate which are not intertwined with our rights to speech and assembly so if we don't hold on with a clenched fist they'll be more than happy to take all of that away. ok friday to decide for happy hours and joining me this evening of r.t. correspondent christine for example and david kat nice reporter at politico thanks for joining me guys if you're ok our starting story tonight is not what i was going to start with but we're just going to end up starting with it and this is. i know it's just a really sad state of affairs take a look at this woman who is an arizona mother who is consuming twenty twenty
6:50 pm
thousand calories a day in attempts to return goal of weighing one thousand six hundred pounds. so you want to use a house i'm ok with the bathrooms. as much almost constantly. so she's doing this all in order to break the record to be the fattest person in the world i don't even know what to say that's right and she is obviously she's like blogging all of this and putting it online and recording her experiences for people to watch but. somebody stop her this is america i am come out for all shapes and sizes we all need to be represented the same way to see . if you have two children one of whom says he's worried his mom is going to die he says i'm only twelve years old i don't want my mom to die yet if she was smoking a six pack of cigarettes would you want her to be able to understand you know of course not but the bigger point i mean i was joking obviously but i think i think the bigger point here is you know the lengths people will go to get just
6:51 pm
a little amount of attention this country you know and this woman who's doing this and you know now she's got a blog i mean it's all records that you want to break read and being the fattest person in the world i was amazed that i was only gone would go for yeah because well so many times we've seen people who you know who can walk and have to have everything brought to them but she was still walking around it's not really a little sticky to the fame remember this is her fifteen ok well let's talk about me if you will to get a little too much attention you know michele bachmann obviously yesterday we dubbed her the gift that just keeps on giving because she really does and it's going to be fun campaign season with her yesterday she was explaining why she spent a little time working for the i.r.s. take a listen. really
6:52 pm
that's why she works at the i.r.s. because she wanted to know her enemy i bet i mean i just kind of don't believe it at that time maybe she just wanted the salary. maybe but it makes you think why is she want to work in the white house she is always talking about smaller government is that why she wants to come to washington so she can know her enemy so she can take it down if she's going to be you know the leader of the free world who is really her enemy right are we on her enemies because they all political she has to see this she's the tea party queen her entire campaign is based on smaller or no government for the i.r.s. become the tea party queen right but so she's going to have your way out of it she is going to say this is her best excuse and it's a excuse at best that she was i mean she didn't know she was going to be running for president how many years ago is attacked but it totally contradicts her messes so she has to give an explanation for it and this is her best answer i mean whether people buy that that's for the g.o.p. primary ok so is that a creative answer me giving her terrible answer like we came here to try has
6:53 pm
somebody affairs because i love my country so it was working so hard on my country that is still by my favorite comparison the great. ok let's keep on with this presidential campaigning there seems to be another little trend within the republican party and that of course is not necessarily believing in science and of course above all questioning evolution take a look at something that rick perry said to i'm going to be in there day. that's just what it. looks at theory that it's out there it's a bit of texas it's a free. kick. i don't know if you heard there at the end saying in texas we teach both creationism and evolution and then we let you decide . and that's not that's not that kind of an answer for rick perry in the state of new hampshire in
6:54 pm
a republican primary this is southern governor who has very conservative beliefs so i don't really see that as a gaffe he sort of laid it all out there and said you know we let people decide which is not saying i don't believe in evolution i mean i think it's pretty careful there in came out you work on the campaign trail all the time if you were so cynical as sitting here in this studio and you're you're better at monitoring these things than how they're going to proceed on the campaign trail i mean i have to say when i was in iowa a lot of people talking even though rick perry wasn't even there a lot of people saying they really perceive him as the front runner and he is playing to his base a whole lot of people you know believe that creationism is the right answer i think he was careful i think it's interesting too to see sort of what happened as a result with jon huntsman coming in thing i believe in evolution you know what we actually have jon huntsman what he tweeted there and shoot i totally didn't write it down but let's put it on the screen to be clear i believe in evolution and trust scientists on global warming call me crazy and that to me is what really i mean i
6:55 pm
understand all this playing to your base but it's actually scary to me that he's the crazy one of the guns because he actually believes in evolution and believe scientists on global warming i mean look the world i mean there's been i was so at the debate talked about how being in favor of civil unions obviously he is a voice that is not playing you know to the ultra right wing but it's an important voice i think he says hold it jon huntsman is trying to be the grown up in the room when you'll bachmann screaming that you know rick perry saying these things he is trying to be the grown up republican that they can win the general election the problem is that is not what the base the people that give money and vote want to hear from their candidates they want to hear the most harsh red meat. rhetoric that says we're going to take down obama so that's why you see you. are doing things i do not agree with me here is the fact that people don't want somebody who believes in science to be president of their country i think that's
6:56 pm
a problem the fact that media organizations are describing jon huntsman as the maverick maverick for believing in science has been confirmed to be at least the last hundred years you can talk about evolution as being like a theory that the all science is most scientists ninety nine percent except for maybe there are some random people that decide to make that evolution is that creationism that they ascribe to and that might be the problem but you're right you're right that that would be the problem republican party as they nominate a candidate that is so far outside the mainstream of americans in the general election about how bad the economy is they'll go with let's really quick just play our last clip here this is something that was overheard being said it to rick perry . thank you. another problem you could say in politics there's just too much money involved and here's a guy that goes i'm from bank of america we got your back we'll help you out i think this is one of the most scathing examples that rick perry is going to have to deal with moving forward i know it seems crazy but both sides left and right keep
6:57 pm
saying you don't want somebody in the white house that's too friendly with large corporations and bank of america one of the most corrupt one of the largest corporations and here's evidence well you're going to call me the cynic on the campaign trail but i think this is very innocuous and not a big deal people got to say you're the one who says you know we want to endorse any of these little or for someone for a president or a bank or an interest group all of that we're going to help you out i mean that there wasn't any promise of money if you recall statement the bank says we want to you know we're talking about policy is bank of america going to give to rick perry probably but they give everybody these banks you look at campaign contributions you get you're going to obama to do so to me that this was i think when you see i think i sorry but no but it's true they get to everybody and if you look at the new super committee republicans and democrats their biggest donors always have been the banks thanks for joining us and thanks for tuning in tonight and make sure to come back on monday to throw this to me back on the show and we signed up to get into the fan of you a lot of show on facebook and follow us on twitter if you missed any of tonight's
