for. sure our doctors. should close up on our. just showing us a very warm welcome this is r.t. live here in moscow top stories now past the hour heavy gunfire and explosions are heard in the libyan capital as rebels claim they've tackled tripoli with. fast approaching but some reports suggest the loud bangs was celebrated recall words after government forces propelled the offense. a certain part of the middle east with fears a deadly exchange of fire between israel and gaza might lead to the jewish state launching a new ground attack meanwhile israelis protesting against social injustice say the government might use the conflict to cover attention from problems. and britain

fights back against recent riots with harsh sentences handed to those who only thought about taking part in some sense of government's excessive response will simply fuel to contend. with another update in about fifteen minutes from now meantime hungary's new media law has created quite a stir in the e.u. with the setting up of a new government controlled authority in ati's sarah firth has met the country's foreign affairs committee vice chairman to talk about the controversial initiative and the impact it might have on the freedom of press. it's not been long since hungry handed even taking the presidency to poland and president mr o'brien has been pushing ahead with his controversial new media law we're joined now by vice chairman for the foreign affairs committee at the

parliament helen hungry thank you very much for joining us now press freedom is a fundamental principle of the i do think the hungry some even further away from the valleys. where there has been a lot of talk especially in the last half year about you using standards we never really know what this exactly means i mean. and i don't why i think of the e.u. has an almighty right to determine where lie be boundaries of such principles we never really heard there critically a definition of what exactly these values are what exactly are the fundamentals of these principles and what are the details where exactly are the boundaries of peace so it is always a contentious issue i mean every country every nation state which the e.u. consists of has its own law has its own institutions that safeguard the freedom of speech or the freedom of press so even in the e.u.
2:33 am
the opinions about the hungarian media law have been very diverse it has received criticisms and it has also been defended by some politicians in the e.u. of course to the agreement the liberal fraction in the european parliament has been very hysterical about it. i can understand some of their criticisms but on the other hand in this country we have a long history of. people from outside trying to tell us what to do for a long time it was for moscow for fifty years now we have people coming around from brussels from washington rating hungary and freedom of press freedom of speech or. trying to tell us what kind of rules are the best for hungary and we had in this country in the past twenty years during the history of hearing democracy so to speak the previous media law which was very far from perfect. and there were
2:34 am
a lot of instances where freedom of speech has been very seriously attacked the under the umbrella of this media law i've never heard anybody say anything in europe or outside of europe or criticizing this media law and i'm so i think that we have to be very careful when we when we judge this of course we have our valid criticisms against islam. to say about the ways in which the law itself was introduced we had some people saying that it was done with a lot of secrecy and i think a little bit underhand to tell us that i think it is very unfortunate when a two thirds majority what the government has in hungary the moment is used to push through a law very quickly and without very careful consideration first of all i know that there is a huge enticement to do things very quickly and pushing through laws. now that they even have
2:35 am
a majority to change the constitution. but i think that the danger is that the law is going to be imperfect this law is imperfect from the point of view that for instance the delegates to this media authority are purely it's very one sided it's not a balance for it's only for this members are being delegated into this authority. the leader of this is forty is appointed for nine years which is a long it's a public office that's a long long time you know i mean during nine years more than two elections go past you know and i think it's it's very unfortunate where some people are kind of. stuck to their position you know for nine years the delegates are appointed by the prime minister which is very unusual and the minimum would be that the parliament appoints them and there is some kind of proportionality within this authority and some delegates. of the opposition can also be there because we think that is that
2:36 am
would bring. the kind of balanced overview supervision of this authority how much of a threat in those i think that's great and i don't think it is going to impact much on press freedom press freedom in this country has been it has a long history to say the least in this country we used to have for fifty years. media that was completely centralized and run by the party the communist party of hungary following this we have a very very liberal media law previous to pretty sort of this media that was extremely liberal. in hungary and journalism newspapers televisions radios the majority of people who used to work in the previous era we used to work in a dictatorship i mean i don't know if somebody coming from the from the west can.
2:37 am
comprehend this situation here i mean just to draw a parallel this is. post second world war germany you would have journalists that have written articles in the for before the end of the second world war you see it's a very obscure situation and the problem is that we have a lot of in the past twenty years we have a lot of accumulated grief. emanating from the media though in this country we have a very very one sided very one sided liberal and left wing type of journalism which needs to be balanced out and there's no question about what i think the pendulum. somehow struck the other direction. so i understand the reaction but i think it has gone too far on the other end so he will describe this is the government taking a loan from the media in a lot of layoffs are the government just trying to cut their own people and power
2:38 am
is actually i'm not a media expert. i think there are very few people in this country including the socialists who are the loudest about this about this situation there are very few people in this country including them. hungary and national media as i'm not oversized in terms of employment i mean. some kind of rationalisation. was long overdue everybody has been always talking about it the socialists have been talking about it when they were in government and this government has not only talking or been talking about they have laid the people off because they saw that it is unsustainable. so i think. this debate has become very politicized it's more about politics than about professional comments see i mean something is also sustainable you have to cut costs and if if something is
2:39 am
over bureaucratized. you know you're going to have people laid off so. based on this new media law i think the whole media needs a bit of rethinking including the national media and that is going to be. that is going to hurt some people that's that's the unfortunate consequence of such a situation why did he speak out this particular issue when as he said it's a signal of other very important issues that have been happening here in the country why do you think that he. can't say very clear about it was an ideological and political. attack now we have a right from government. and writing government is always attacked by the left wing liberals in the european parliament this is our past experience. how this works we can only guess we have a socialist party in this country which has extremely good connections in the
2:40 am
european parliament. and in the european media and this government the audubon government and i'm seeing this being in opposition so i think this somehow add some value to what i say. in the. in between ninety eight and two thousand and two this government already had one term and it was very interesting to see. the volume and an. extensive mess of this criticism that this government has received from outside of hungary as you can exactly exactly identify who do those people or where the sick criticism comes from and what is the direction of the criticism it is which has something to do with with the fear of for a dictatorship being introduced to hungary you know things are i mean nothing like that happened exactly and when the socialist government ran this country for eight
2:41 am
years nobody said a single word in the european parliament and in the e.u. although we know and this was admitted that the invariant government the socialist government forces economic statistics that were submitted to the european parliament which is criminal you had the two thousand and six issues when the people were shot on the streets who went on the streets to demonstrate against the prime minister who made this speech this speech was leaked where he admitted to have lied be enlightened about the economic and other situation in the country and he won the elections through lies and this is this speech was leaked out and there was a huge uproar pro in this country. nobody else seems to care in the whole world in the democratic world but usually are worried about democratic values or the values of the european union whatever they might be. how they are being respected in this country so i think that there is an extremely strong double standard against this

carroll called solve among other quite capable players with a major playoff experience i'm also are silent for playoffs last year along with the final is a great experience so i say it's very allowed to have the crosshairs i really enjoy playing last saturday something that you work for every year scott began their preparation in the czech republic where the squad concentrated mainly on gaining strength and that stance was followed by a brief training camp and that seems home base in st petersburg where the head coach has laid down strategy and tactics for the remainder of the pre-season has been a tough training camp so far everybody's working on again and shade for and. you know i'm good scenes are a simple workout that we're going on right now scott first spend a match in st petersburg show that this side is ready to reach new heights in the cage shell and that sentiment echoed with the fans as well as that scene delighted supporters with a three three win over another cage held side third pedal from the scene over
