national corporations buying our politicians we cannot stand up to that all the way that we can fight that influence and that includes the defense contractors by the way it's a passage amendment say they cannot be involved in the political process if we pass that amendment then we can clean up all of our politics the way you do that is that you do not go to washington and washington is infested with viruses taking over the body of washington you go to and do a cost to tional convention which only requires the states that participate and then an amendment can you pass it three quarters of the states ratify it after it comes out of a convention so you do what we did in wisconsin which is you take it to the people you take it to the streets of state by state and you fight and you can win on the state level where you don't even involve washington so we get rid of the problem in its entirety and we do it the old fashioned way by taking of the american people it can be done it is possible and we will do it and i was a young turk himself now jake and i did talk about a lot more than the war on terror from from the economy to vomit to drunk elk
5:23 pm
that's right if you want to catch that full interview just that's our websites. all terrorism as we've just discussed is ugly person place thing because it does not discriminate that on a battlefield is one thing atrocious of course but the deliberate murder of innocent civilians shocks us all the more words come to mind like inhuman unjust cruel but well mostly rally around the idea of terrorists the bad guys what about when the killing is done by the state sanctioned by a judicial system that is supposed to protect the innocent now it is not an easy question to answer or even to talk about but it is exactly what came to my mind yesterday when i learned that anthony troy davis will die were slated to die that nearly twenty years after he first entered death row choi davis is set to be executed next wednesday by the state of georgia the african-american who was convicted of killing a white police officer back in one thousand nine hundred nine and since the
5:24 pm
original trial seven of the nine witnesses have actually recanted their testimony not to mention the fact that no physical evidence ever linked him to the murder so will an innocent man be executed next week and if so what the heck does that tell us about the state of our justice system let's get some analysis now from my next guest she is a filmmaker and human rights activist and marlo and she is live with us here in our d.c. studios jen thank you so much for particular time to join us now we've seen former president jimmy carter even the pope a lot of international attention to this case why has this case gotten so much attention worldwide who i think one of the reasons troy davis is case has got the attention that it has is because in many ways his case is emblematic of all that is problematic with the u.s. death penalty system much of what you just said in your introduction the fact the fact that the state can be. scheduling in preparing to put a man to death for whom the case against him has entirely unraveled troy's case
5:25 pm
something highlights so much of what is flawed in our justice system especially when there are claims of innocence. it's that there really is not an adequate way for for those claims to be heard and that a case like juries can go through the court system appeal after appeal court after court and what's reviewed as opposed courts are not able to focus on the larger issues of innocence or whether this conviction was reliable and instead they're focused on on the procedural issues or the technicalities and so. so someone like troy davis can march steadily towards death row and towards an execution even though there is no solid case against him and he has a very strong and a sense claim this is of course one man but as you've mentioned it is sort of emblematic of bigger issues in our justice system but we're also not really seeing this covered in the mainstream press or really addressed by not that many of our politicians at least why do you think that is why is this the capital punishment
5:26 pm
issue not something that we've seen to really get into it in terms of a national debate on primetime you know main main discussion what i think and i hope that that is slowly beginning to change and you know for folks who are watching the. republican candidate debate last night i can say that there are segments of our country that have great support for capital punishment when it was announced how many people repairing had actually it in taxes there was you know cheers i want to i want to play that sound bite for for you i think we have that clip there. governor perry a question about texas your state has executed two hundred thirty four death row inmates more than any other governor in modern times as you. struggle to sleep at night. with the idea that any one of those might have been innocent no sir i never struggled with that at all if you come into our state and you kill one
5:27 pm
of our children you kill a police officer you're involved with another crime and you kill one of our citizens. you will face the ultimate justice in the state of texas and that is you will be executed what do you make you. are cheering about that but i think you know much as we're hearing those cheers there is a very strong and growing stronger movement of people who are working against the death penalty and her working to abolish it and in fact there's been a lot of really amazing successes there are now sixteen states in the u.s. that have abolished the death penalty the most recent was in illinois and they abolished that penalty just a few months ago in march and that came out of a long hard organizing and work of different people activists people building coalitions and those activists include people who have been wrongly convicted and were exonerated from death row they include people who have had family members on
5:28 pm
death row they include family members of murder victims who are calling out and saying you know this is not the kind of justice we are looking for and yet we still have i mean we're the only western nation that has not abolished the death penalty and we see in some states i know on this show we've done a lot of segments about this where they're using execution drugs. drugs for animals and humans right well yeah and there's so there's still a whole lot of work to be done and it's absolutely true that in the global community the u.s. is becoming more and more isolated by the fact that when you. two thirds of the world has abolished the death penalty the us is absolutely progressively isolated in in the policy to still execute prisoners and what you were saying and choice case actually was very much got caught up in in this it was in the state of georgia that that sodium pentothal which was one of the three good drug cocktail that had been used in most lethal injections in the country georgia stock of soda and beer
5:29 pm
council actually got confiscated by the federal government when it was discovered that they had acquired it illegally from a shady fly by night british pharmaceutical company that operated out of the back of a london driving school and then other states supplies of food. were also asked to be given up in that state scrambling for a replacement and what they chose was pentobarbital which as you just stated is once used to execute euthanize animals and how to execute humans it seems embarrassing is it in one word is there still hope for troy davis there is still hope actually and that hope is is pretty significant because yes the state of georgia has announced an execution date is planned but the state of georgia does not have to execute troy davis and should not execute troy and there is a body this is the georgia board of pardons and parole and they can do the right thing. well that was filmmaker john marlowe unfortunately that is it for now but
5:30 pm
plenty more stories and details on our website r.t. dot com so those are you tube channel and as always if you want to see what stories i'm following or get in touch with me all me on twitter at least enough will be right back here in an hour and a half but in the meanwhile the ellen show. you know how sometimes you see a story and it seems so for life you think you understand it and then you glimpse something else and you hear or see some other part of it and realize that everything you thought you knew you don't know i'm trying hard welcome to the big picture. on. morning news today violence is once again flared up.
5:31 pm
these are the images the world has been seeing from the streets of canada. china from operation to rule the day. max keiser this is the kaiser report let's talk about the market schizophrenia that's right and market collateralized schizophrenia obligation bonnes are they in the offing they see her and talk to me talk to me talk to me yes it's austerity measures one day realist measures the next i.m.f. global economy faces a threatening downward spiral this is christine lagarde the new i.m.f. chief and she says europe needs to take its foot off the fiscal great and shift to
5:32 pm
growth intensive measures and told the danger has passed insisting that germany has leeway to stimulate demand. saying no austerity measures are bad for the west it is well this isn't that the i.m.f. just recommended for grace austerity measures that's correct i'm not sure she includes them in the west well but the prescription that the i.m.f. is offering is get a frantic this is just all for schizophrenia back pawns but photos on some global exchange that's pays off on house gets a front the i.m.f. and b. that's right well it is also the story of this ongoing story between savers versus speculators and as the article points out her comments are certain to cause fear e in berlin where the i.m.f. is viewed as an agent of keane's ians and french mischief mrs lugard was french finance minister until two months ago well yeah germany is sitting on
5:33 pm
a pot load of money and all these other countries one in on it and of course the germans are savers the french are spenders and they want germany's money as do all the other countries but germany is the same. or don't take germany's money well remember it it's all out war max and in fact that's in my next headline all out war bankers versus everybody else so we know christine legarde is now an agent for these bankers of course and that seemed to tell it as pointing out that for the american economy and for many other developed countries including all of europe the elephant in the room is the amount of money paid to bankers over the last five years in the united states the sum stands out in astounding two point two trillion dollars yeah and i just saw a story the c.e.o.'s of all companies in america and bankers are lobbying
5:34 pm
washington to pass a new law that would make it so that they would not have to disclose their pay and bonuses to anybody no regulatory authority that the f.c.c. just keep all that information private they're raping and pillaging not just their bonuses they're actually their income and this was in the washington post where they were talking about break away well and they're saying that this is just the wealthy the top point one percent and ninety nine percent of americans think they're part of that but it's really only point one percent but they're becoming wealthier by taking the wealth from the rest of the population as not sam to lead points out over the next ten years you're going to see at this same rate if you extrapolate this rate of wealth that the bankers are taking it's going to be another five trillion dollars over the next decade that five trillion dollars is not money invested in building roads schools and other long term truck projects but is directly transferred from the american economy to the personal accounts of bank
5:35 pm
executives and employees i think you should really take the other approach that when the c.e.o.'s of bankers are caught raping and pillaging stealing money as they are doing they should have to go door to door in the neighborhoods that they live and tell their neighbors if they are serious financial terrorist offenders this is a serial financial terror. foamer law but of course the way to fight this financial war is in that image become printing the story and that's max keiser silver bullets crash j.p. morgan by silver and with it along with these precious metals that takes us to this next headline in this financial war this ongoing financial war china knows that the u.s. government and its allies and western europe strive to suppress the price of gold and the u.s. government knows that china knows according to a two thousand and nine cable from the u.s. embassy in beijing to the state department in washington so this was one of these wiki leaks cables that were just recently released and in it the u.s. ambassador is stating that listening to the radio report from the radio which
5:36 pm
quoted china's national foreign exchange administration they know that the u.s. and europe have always suppress the rising price of gold they intend to weaken gold's function as an international reserve currency china's increased gold reserves will thus act as a model and lead other countries towards reserving more gold large gold reserves are also beneficial in promoting the internationalization of the room in being right and america tim geithner is always pointing a strain or china saying you're a currency manipulator course he's referring to dollars and on the sea of nonsense china saying well you're a gold and silver price manipulator who's going to win the gold versus. well it also brings into question because this cable was written in april of two thousand and nine and you and i were at the buddhist bank in march of two thousand and seven and at that time we asked the german central bank whether or not how much
5:37 pm
gold china had and they reckon china had more than they than germany did and germany has over three thousand tons of gold now officially china only claims that one thousand tons but by this report you would it would suggest that in fact the bank was correct in saying at the time in two thousand and seven. china had more than three and a half thousand tons of gold well i'm going to repeat that because it's really the states that have an exclusive when we were at the bundesbank they told us officials at the bank in berlin that they believe china have more gold than germany does which means that they would have more than three thousand tons not the stated amount of one of the thousand tons and that was three four years ago it was an employee wasn't an official but it was somebody who said that they they obviously have no idea but they suspect that they have more that china owns more than germany and of course they are the biggest gold miner in the world of the sun and they are keeping all that to themselves so as this international financial and currency war
5:38 pm
escalates here's another headline wall street prepares for war. yes that's an image of lloyd blankfein wearing camouflage and even a pistol this is referring to the financial housing finance agency the f h f a who has filed a lawsuit against seventeen banks including goldman sachs j.p. morgan society general credit suisse barclays and a few other banks but. that's my question here is this just a propaganda war because it's only a civil suit it's not a criminal suit nobody will do any time for this they'll be a fine paid we already saw at the top of the show that an agent the armed wing of the international bankers the i.m.f. is basically threatening that the whole system is about to collapse if you force these banks to pay the two hundred billion dollars in fraudulent asset backed securities that they sold to fannie mae and freddie mac. well we know the goldman sachs response will be to threaten to crash the u.s. economy again using high frequency trading or the trading market relation that's
5:39 pm
there that's what they do they exchange in a basically captive as part of their hostage taking of america and they threaten to collapse if this investigation goes any further now what the f a a should do is that they should gather bunch of hedge funds together some friendly has rather create a few persons of your own seeds you have to do and they should make it short sell goldman sachs start down to zero listen let's go to the next story because i'll tell you i'll prove to you that this is just a fraud max and f h f a is not having any intention of doing anything to harm goldman sachs because they are the same they are j.p. morgan sub prime mortgage bonds getting aaa rating s. and p. denies to u.s. treasuries so standard and poor's is giving a higher rating to securities backed by sub prime home loans the same type of investments that led to the worst financial crisis since the great depression then
5:40 pm
it assigns the u.s. government now these aaa subprime mortgage backed securities one of the participants of this is a i g. which is owned by the same government that is now suing these other guys who are that it's the same is the same circle of of a psychopathic schizophrenia schizophrenia schizophrenia back. as i was. right it's good for the background and you can buy when they change but as you're doing it make sure that you look at yourself in the mirror collateralized by your own image slice and dice your invention by the schizophrenia cloud was gone and taken a kind of drug like doing it and you yourself can become as rich as lloyd blankfein sitting on trillions of dollars a fair person which actually sort of the article here quotes gregory w. smith the general counsel for the forty one billion dollars public employees retirement association of colorado and he says everybody has been led to believe over the years that aaa means aaa means to play across the board anybody that
5:41 pm
didn't learn in the two thousand and eight crisis that doesn't apply should find another line of work but there you go again that's more hazard because it's up to whoever jobat you don't it's chump is running some pension fund for you you have to hope that they learn their lesson because the crooks are not behind bars they are setting policy they have christine legarde threatening countries around the world for them oh well the reigning agency is the ratings to stabilize the market to create volatility so that their friends can make money trading things like the volatility index the vix and if you have advance knowledge of what the rating agencies are going to do and they give out that advance dollars to their friends on the exchanges you can buy and sell the vix the v.i.x. the relativity and x. and make money that way well ok so if you think this is all accidental again like. that this is going to stop let's look back at another cable viewing cable zero
5:42 pm
seven paris four one zero nine paulson discusses financial markets brand with our cozy so this goes back to two thousand and seven hank paulson was here in paris meeting with nicholas our cozy psycho's he raised concerns about subprime related market turbulence paulson however underscored the importance of not overreacting he said it would take months not weeks for credit to be repriced but this was not a major crisis. yes he went on to say anyway it's not a problem the only problem i see in europe for the banks is the german lender spankin but they presented little systemic risk and would be bailed out by the german taxpayer so hank paulson is speaking on behalf of the german government in terms of his plan to allow for the german banks to be bailed out by the german citizen speaking for the global elite this is always their intention back to savers versus speculators he's he's negotiating to speculators rule and he knew from then
5:43 pm
a year and a half before he pretended oh i hated to have to do tarp well he was speaking to sarkozy a year before tarp saying oh don't worry it's not going to be a problem because the german taxpayer will bail out the german landis bank and let me ask you this one of germany decided to demand the gold held at the new york trade sixty percent of their goal is held in new york what if they did like the french and said we want all our gold sent back to germany it's forever gone no european nation no asian nation including china they have a lot of gold in the u.s. they're not getting it back and then finally max one quick headline here before you turn to the second half israelis turn out for largest economic protest so remember back to talk about the break away wealth this is the same situation that is happening in israel because even though israel emerged from the global financial crisis relatively unscathed the economy is doing rapid growth and unemployment is at its lowest in decades at around five and a half percent so it all looks good on the surface right regardless the to stick
5:44 pm
show the range of the working poor have grown dramatically as wealth has increasingly become concentrated among a small group of tycoons well you've got to go now to change the nomenclature from the arab spring to the arab israelis praying well yes that actually a lot of the people the protesters are claiming alliance with the square of course and also this final image here max this is crashed by silver in hebrew. so long all right stay sara thanks so much for being on the cars report thank you don't go away much more coming away stay right there. when you look for new clues against school. discipline measured in barrels. we'll brain is more.
5:45 pm
we have new ideas. new. orleans.
5:46 pm
welcome back to the kaiser report i maxed out a time now to go to germany and speak with economist share a verb here welcome to the kaiser report i'm actually going to stick to you all right here israel has been able to protest over the summer with four hundred thousand protesting last weekend why is five percent of the population of israel protesting what are their demands what we have to ask yourselves why didn't have
5:47 pm
why didn't it happen before because they actually israel is undergoing a deep social crisis for the past few decades and with very rapidly growing inequality and cared for in poverty and on care for unemployment it would have been expanding and affecting every aspect of life in israel and yet most people didn't really protest it until very recently and this waiting process is something very new in israel quite unprecedented there's never been such a large demonstration in israel's history and and people have a lot of reason to protect ok now is it possible that the arab spring the arab uprisings in egypt donis and around the arab world com or to this protest these projects it is real and if so doesn't this speak toward a greater middle east. society getting rid of all these divisions have been plaguing that region for decades the first reaction in israeli society that the
5:48 pm
arab spring was was panic actually because the idea that arab countries could be democratic and people can set their own destiny was something that that. intimidated a lot of israelis were counting on us to support in crushing it is it the arab peoples and making sure that they operate within the framework of u.s. interests which also works very well for the israeli and middle east refugees and. but i think with the global excitement about the arab spring especially the revolution in egypt a lot of israelis said well we also wanted to get someone that international excitement we also wanted people in the world to be excited about what we're doing and i think one of the reasons for this is that there is now an international boycott campaign against israel against the apartheid that israeli society appearance and against its billions in its row and israelis feel very isolated
5:49 pm
there and there are riots and today's world because it is going to become pain and so by emulating the arab spring you're hoping maybe you can get some international support ok now you mentioned of course we're less than what the u.s. and the enormous support the u.s. gives israel every year for decades and the commentators and the american press who are covering this at all the uprising in israel they're finding it difficult to talk about the demands of the protesters because of demands of the protesters are for things like greater distribution of wealth and greater equality and income distribution and these of course are ideas that of america equates with socialism and communism and. so. the there's a huge enormous disconnect here because american aid to israel billions of dollars every single year and yet the people of israel don't seem to want to emulate what's
5:50 pm
happening in america at all by the majority of the protesters are talking about raising taxes they want higher taxes so that there will be sufficient income to. implement social programs and policies that they're asking for which is the complete opposite of main discourse in the us that taxes are considered the root of all evil and any call for raising taxes is immediately equated to communism completely agree with that but we have to remember that this is rooted in israeli history because israel used to be unlike the. it corporative society where we had a very strong welfare state and a very strong system of union and that worked for jewish didn't only interested in and for and believed in society with collaboration with the government and with the major employers and to create a kind of society where there were very strong social posies but only for jews and maybe for jews who were originally from european countries and this is
5:51 pm
a memory that appeals to a lot of young israelis well in today's new liberal economy find that they can no longer count in the government to help them and in finding an apartment they can no longer be sure that their wages will be enough to sustain their standard of living they get very worried and now they're saying let's go back to what we had with the welfare state and twenty thirty years ago forty years ago and more all right all the people of israel are for peace and justice they're out there a huge percentage of the population of five percent of the population is then a square in the streets protesting for peace and justice however the government of israel of course is attracting huge a problem america by playing a violence card by playing the terrorism card by committing acts of terror in palestine and around the region now let me ask you a question that when you see a u.s. politician like sarah palin.
