6:52 pm
so it has never been done history the one you're because you don't want to make decisions that are new to this and yet they have a tell down that makes them seem a little bit more you know. just a little yeah arrestable but i do think that one of the funnier to read because it is to tell you that you're so yeah i think one of the funniest reactions was from the actual nudists who said that they were so insulted by wieners law because this is already new this code like how dare he and you know it that we don't already do this well i don't know i barely was also promised i'm going to restaurants like i'm just sitting there naked in order i'm sorry that's too much that's just too much that is the whole other issue for another day because we've got to move on because we all know that one of those i think part about dating someone is making those nervous phone calls which this i haven't heard from you and i mean how stupid is it that gal scott tweet for gas company right. probably right more women are accepted into law school now the men. all
6:53 pm
right so how much labor it takes to figure out the right thing to say one dutch woman didn't have any trouble she's a forty two year old and she called her ex sixty five thousand times a year which if you want to know the math we get it for you that's one hundred seventy eight times a day one call every eight minutes. it's a little extravagant. actually you know she claims that they were in actuality dating that he was not her x. but i would like to point out that even if you are dating calling your significant other every eight minutes is not in any way shape or form it's. probably going to get in for too long if you're calling your significant other every eight minutes i mean this is a serious commitment to stalking if there's like an olympics for stalking i think this woman is a front runner my god she got you programmed world record. dating news we should let her know she didn't actually are and she's probably going to need the money
6:54 pm
because i was thinking about the phone bill must be astronomical but i know you cannot and it's these days i don't know the soccer player bryant thing if he was supposedly texting it might have been a little bit pricier yeah i don't know i mean i've known people who have excessively called and texted axes and i was embarrassed for them and it was nothing at this level this should make every crazy girl feel much better. but have you ever been mad at your neighbor you're going to love our next story because one connecticut man took out his anger in a very creative and bench. connecticut managed church with post you know faith craigslist dead and fighting strangers to participate in an orgy with a board soccer mom he had showed a cropped photo of a topless woman and gave an address saying i'm looking for group sex and i want to please as many as i can before i go to work. ok the problem is that people actually showed up and the guy that ran this ad got probation and two hundred hours of
6:55 pm
community service as a punishment for his offense of playing a prank on his neighbor what do you think about punishment i think this is something that's like seems kind of clever and funny at first and so you like think it all the way through and like oh my god creepy guys are going to start showing up at some of us and some guy actually to the wrong house and molested a teenage girl so i think he deserves to be you know given a little bit of a closure here that's not a little punishment a probation this is his record two hundred hours and he had to pay for the security system for this neighbor's house i think the security system is a little ridiculous but at the same time you can't say that you know he can't be held accountable because he didn't force these people to do what they were doing which i know has been said you know it's not fair if you're going to go and do something that then leads to other things happening because you were reckless then you need to be held accountable for your recklessness you know actions have consequences but the consequence of his action was not having that neighbor need to
6:56 pm
have a security system to keep people from writing would you be on the line for that i know that you said that you support me now but i just have to make my point there i mean i agree but you know earlier there were discussions that he shouldn't be responsible at all because he's not accountable for what other people do and i don't think that's fair because if you go and leave someone in the woods as a prank and haha find your way home and they get muddled by a bear you would definitely be charged with some type of negligence what do you think i'm going to quite over there if you have if you don't get it done right so far you know i kind of wish i had come up with the idea of it but never actually gone through that i have to say it's a little bit here and i'm curious what your invention in cause and effect like what was the consequence that led him to do this is this portion of the way was this relevant to whatever they're currently having some kind of feud but we don't know what they were we don't know what they were going to about but why did he go oh i know the way to get back at her is to make it seem like she was having orgy on craig's list seems like there's a deeper backs. here that we don't know but you know i don't really care about the backstory but i just think that this is such an extravagant punishment for what this person actually did i mean he wasn't
6:57 pm
a person showing up for the group sex or groping a teenage girl and i'm arresting anybody you know i didn't run away and you know it was you have to admit that he had every intention of weirdos you don't post something on craigslist saying you want to have an orgy without the intention of odd strange people showing up at that house yes it was that person's responsibility then to answer the door or not answer the door or deal with whoever was on their doorstep i mean he listening to charge he was your inspiration for getting somebody else in his house what he wasn't charged with feel like you know facilitation of molestation he was not charged that he was charged with you know posting something and i do think that he pled to something greater than what his actual crime was but i don't think he should go if scot free all right all the more all the story because what you posted on craigslist are also going to be out cleaning up trash for community service and with that that's it for tonight show thanks for tuning in make sure to come back tomorrow as well kristin will be on the show to discuss the nine eleven ten years out from a military standpoint and in the meantime don't forget to become
6:58 pm

7:00 pm
free blood tests clothing videos for your media projects a free media and on to our teeth on tom. well it's been a long time coming but the moment is finally here the president of the united. speaks out on jobs the question on everyone's minds will he be able to create enough to save his own house we'll hear from jane q girl of the young turks. lots of people with lots of money all for this so-called war on terror well with money comes power and with power comes the war in afghanistan the war in iraq and let's not forget the overarching war on terror so a decade after nine eleven are we any safer and are we less free. and terrorists may kill innocent civilians but what about when the killing is
7:01 pm
a legally sanctioned by the state that's what some warn will happen next week when georgia plans on executing a death row inmate by the name of troy davis guilty until proven innocent. believing it is thursday september eighth seven pm here in washington d.c. i'm lucy catherine of and of course you're watching r t well the long awaited jobs speech is finally here in an effort to boost a slumping economy along with his hopes for reelection the president of the united states is getting ready to unveil his four hundred fifty billion dollar jobs plan before a rare joint session of congress pictured right here behind me on the plasma screen now infrastructure spending tax relief unemployment assistance and other aid all of this is supposed to be part of the so-called american jobs act the president is as
7:02 pm
we speak about to outline before the nation now it's been quite a long road and getting here the president has gotten a lot of criticism from both sides of the aisle about how long it's taken him to speak out on the economy and a first we do have to keep in mind that the speech was originally scheduled for yesterday there was a bun a lot of conflict between the congress and the white house. to mention the g.o.p. debate and so it got reschedule today was it's was it going to happen at eight pm a schedule no of course not the football game seems to have gotten in a way of that now the president according to the white house all of the proposals that he is about to announce are going to be paid for with spending cuts although the president is not expected to detail them right now he's supposed to wait until next week to get that information out there now let's go through a little bit of what is in this plan we're talking about tax cuts for small businesses are a lot of folks been talking about that payroll tax cut it's not actually this is certainly a tax cut they're just keeping the tax cut that's already in place for that so that
7:03 pm
doesn't necessarily mean new money in your paycheck and my paycheck that's not letting that expire a fund to prevent teacher layoffs and first responder funds ok that sounds popular whether or not that's actually going to translate in into action keeping more folks employed remains to be seen and of course the bigger the bigger criticism that a lot of people are raising here is the president is addressing congress at a time when congress is not in a political situation where you can act i mean we saw what happened with the debt ceiling standoff we saw what happened with all kinds of different fights that we've seen on capitol hill the two parties are not able to work together at the moment and regardless regardless of what the president is about to lay out it remains to be seen whether any sort of concrete action will come of this it could of course just end up being words not a very positive message for those unemployed americans but you know the world as
7:04 pm
well as those unemployed americans are watching of course it does remain to be seen whether the president's words will be met any but they sort of strong action from congress mired in gridlock and we do have to keep in mind the president is speaking at a time when he is not popular at the polls show the american people not very happy with his handling of the economy. his handling of his job as president. we did see stocks slide into spatial of this speech today the bureau of labor reported that last week jobless claims rose more than expected of course we are dealing with a time where the unemployment rate remains up nine point one percent and one in six americans that is if you factor in all of those folks who are either have been unemployed for so long that they've completely given up on looking for work or are those people who are barely struggling to make. ends meet by working part time if you factor in all of those people one in six americans are actually out of work
7:05 pm
right now now there is a lot to discuss here but i do want to get a little bit more it into this plan by congress and raise some questions because we do have to ask why didn't the president act on this situation earlier when both the senate and the house was controlled by democrats a lot of critics are asking that question another question is why not aim big why not try to do this at an earlier time weeks ago months ago trying to negotiate more there's been a lot of criticism both from our guests earlier in this program and. on other networks and by other analysts that the president has simply not been strong enough in his action and in his words now i can speak for quite a while there but it does look at the president is about to speak let's listen a little bit to the applause it's a positive take in quite some time and coming given the criticism from both sides
7:06 pm
of the aisle here in congress let's take a look at the reception that the president is hearing and try to hear from the man himself. we were thank you was. all right we're seeing a lot of applause which is going to watch this for a bit longer it's interesting that he's getting a standing ovation considering again the criticism that he's gotten from both sides of the aisle the republicans refused to offer a rebuttal speech this is something that typically does happen here in washington. but the fact of they're not even speaking out in reaction to the president says a lot and what it says in the situation is that they are not taking him seriously which is quite a big concern when you're the president united states now we will potentially dip
7:07 pm
back into this speech later but we will definitely bring you live reaction from economic experts as well as one american who remains unemployed we'll see what she has to say to whatever the president offers for now i want to play you a little bit of my interview with. who spoke with me earlier today we talked about a lot of stuff the war on terror the economy but most most importantly how obama is going to get support for whatever he is about to announce with considering the high unemployment rates and wrote low approval ratings here's his response. know he's in massive trouble and apparently doesn't quite understand that he is. about a couple weeks ago maybe about a month ago when he was still in the high forty's i said he's going to hit the thirty's in approval rating soon and in fact there was two polls out about a week ago that had amassed thirty nine and thirty eight he already had it even much quicker than i thought because his overall jobs plan is not the correct one it
7:08 pm
is the number one issue in the country and he keeps calling the republican strategy of let me give more and more and more to the rich and that hope that at some point out of the goodness of their hearts they create jobs here in the united states well that's a dumb idea that's a republican idea and i don't know why our so-called democratic president is going down that path but to not just his achievement but to all of our detriment but what he's going to wake up and soon realize is. there is other republicans wrong i don't know why listen to him and now we still love unemployment at nine percent and then are going to turn around and blame him saying that he's a socialist and i use the government too much was a joke right and then he's going to have no one but himself to blame and tonight he's going to come out with a job speech as entirely mediocre with more warmed over republican ideas and then wonder why people don't support him he has no idea how far he can look how far he can drop in the polls and i. just can't bear sense of it now and go and watch
7:09 pm
a lot of people don't love us now of course they don't love us and i want nine point one percent unemployment and honestly you're not doing much about it and you know polls yet polls go up and down but i want to get your take on whether you think there's been a fundamental shift here now there's there's one quote that i want to play for you by the president of the f.b.i. you where he said that obama has lost the sense of power and mystique of the presidency there's also a defense that people are scared of him and that is very very dangerous. how how the bomber has obama quit being important in this a president of the united states first i'm going world's biggest economy where close to be the most powerful nation on earth does it have the president last relevancy. the idea that anyone who would be afraid of obama is quite amusing to me least of all republicans are conservatives look he'll strike out at liberals and progressives from time to time you know he'll send his chief of staff to call them and excuse a word here is the word rahm emanuel used to call liberals retarded he'll insult
7:10 pm
his base all the time he'll slap labor in the face he'll defeat the democratic proposals like dorgan to make sure the drug companies get even bigger profits so he's willing to do that from time to time to his own side but he gives republicans the idea that there is scared of an inconceivable nobody scared of him they know that they can push him around all they like and i'll get almost one hundred percent of what they want and i'm being kind by saying almost so yeah i mean he's only relevant as far as how much he will agree with the republicans is there any chance they're going to prepend say any progressive priorities going forward. zero percent chance the republicans say no balls no game and when they say that obama is going to go to some sort of proposing a what would you like i'll give you twice as much oh yeah he's right that is very good and seems like there's a chance that it was irresponsible pass anything out of anything and as congress as you said the only oh no that's actually not true you know that's that's the interesting part no no this super committee that they're putting together is going
7:11 pm
to pass some amazing legislation it's going to be horrible legislation other than naming post offices meaning. no absolutely look they might cut social security days certainly might cut medicare but even more horrible they might give more tax cuts to corporations and to the richest people in america and then call that tax reform and then of course obama will say i am such a great compromiser ok i will compromise all of your ideas so there is still terrible legislation ahead under a so-called democratic president the so-called democratic senate now change when a bomb was elected hopefully he might have a copyright on the word i mean that was all over the counter and if you had to summarize your view on the president in one word today. there's a lot of words i can take with i'll stick with this one that will get some trouble with the f.c.c. please. profoundly disappointed me disappointing right well let's turn away from
7:12 pm
the president for a moment and also take a look at a pretty important date that we're coming up on of course that is the major anniversary of the time years marking the attacks of the nine eleven terrorist bombings now it also of course launched the so-called global war on terror and i want to bring you a story that one of our reporters did i decade after a decade in fact of military campaigns overseas were also accompanied by headlines of torture secret prisons and civilian deaths and how it made this country safer and as our two started special coverage of the nine eleven anniversary let's take a look at that story. one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in history i'm sure that in a decade of anti terror campaigns across the globe. but is america and the world now a safer place ten years on the most recent nine eleven commission report card gives
7:13 pm
aviation security in the u.s. the worst rate and the air as for terrorists experts say the methods used to fight them have spawned even more extremism torture and if it weren't for just. look for thank you if i thought of the current here and that have we think it's back on the web and trying to defeat terrorism america's decade long campaign on terror has created a new phenomena more without borders and as many say without rules torture rape and murder that took place at the u.s. run prison in abu ghraib iraq as well as other u.s. prisons overseas brought global condemnation but key decision makers in the bush administration say what they did was in the best interest of their country and they would do the same again people call it torture you think it can still be a tool yes rendition yes secret prisons yes wiretapping
7:14 pm
well with the right approach colonel lawrence wilkerson was collin powell chief of staff when he was the secretary of state under george w. bush he says some of the bush administration members deserve to be put on trial and he would be ready to testify george tenet told dick cheney what dick cheney wanted to hear oh yes it's working mr vice president we're getting great information there we're stopping terrorism attacks bad is order book in pakistan u.s. drone strikes have killed thousands of civilians and net it only a handful of actual terrorists many of the victims' loved ones seek revenge by joining radical groups on. there is like this young man who lost both of his legs and three family members in a drone strike get there in protest asking when will the killing stop we have made much more than a cottage industry out of the world my former boss colin powell has called the terrorist industrial complex lots of people are making lots of money off this
7:15 pm
so-called global war on terror our war on terror. begins america. but it does not in there listening to george bush's declaration of war on terror from ten years ago one is left wondering whether it was the beginning of a vicious circle where the revenge would take more innocent lives and would start a new wave of terror i'm trying to check our reporting from washington our team. now jane i want to play you something that a big new version one of our correspondents our earlier today let's see if we have that sound bite. i think the violence worldwide has increased fortunately in the united states we have avoided perhaps through good intelligence perhaps because we are more isolated geographically recruited should move anything like nine eleven and then that was in response to a question about whether he feels safer and of course we haven't seen another nine
7:16 pm
eleven type attack what do you make of his comments do you feel safer and where are we today later. hi i have some mixed feelings on this you know i'm a little bit more conservative on the drone strikes and on special forces operations i think it's gotten some of the top al qaeda officials obviously including osama bin laden in our navy seal team six operation i think that's a smarter way to go those targeted operations especially ones where we use our forces rather than the drones and that we need to do that to protect the country to some degree now when you get to the larger wars have they made a safeword that's a joke it's nothing but a horrible horrible misstatement the iraq war has inflamed entire middle east need enemies out of so many that didn't need to be our enemies and rightfully so because we had absolutely no reason to go into iraq was a horrible mistake well it was a not really a mistake as dick cheney absolutely intended it and it was
7:17 pm
a disaster now when you get to our domestic issues here in the united states. i am really disappointed in how both political parties have shown great cowardice because i was taught the colors behind me of the american flag that they don't run right what do we do we ran from the terrorists we changed our civil liberties because we were so afraid of a bunch of guys hiding in caves so here are the number of things that have been changed and are still in place and we now do indefinite detentions in the united states of america we're not going to give due process to people we're going to hold them forever that's what dictatorships to that's what third world refuting countries do we have targeted killings obama administration has stepped that up for united states citizens abroad we can execute them without any trial or due process that's not the country i grew up in that's sick and then you've got a trial by military commission warrantless wiretapping racial profiling continued
7:18 pm
under the obama administration what has happened to this country you know what the terrorists of done to us is nothing compared to what we've done to ourselves being so damn scared of them i say we stop being scared and we go back to the america that we all knew and loved it was a shining beacon for the rest of the world we restore our rights and our liberties i'm disgusted by what's happened thank the strong words but at the end of the day there's a lot of financial interests at stake in keeping the system as it is and of course war is a profitable business and there are a lot of companies that are heavily invested in stocks in these kinds of exercises in the so-called military industrial complex and what strikes me and i want to get your thoughts on this is so much paranoia about you know big government and and inefficiency of government especially coming out of the right wing and the tea party faction why doesn't that apply to the behemoths security state that has grown
7:19 pm
in a decade from trying a lot of it. well that goes to the core of the problem in the united states of america overall now whether it's foreigner to mass. policy which is that our politicians are bought we have become unfortunately terribly corrupt nation it's because we're systemically corrupt it's not that hey we've got a couple of bad apples and that congressman or that senator are on the take the whole systems on the take what they do is they get lobbyist to pay them their campaign donations they run ads based on that that's how they win the elections so they are all almost all of them in the pockets of the special interest the corporate interests the military interests and so. it should not be a conservative thing you shouldn't be a liberal thing to say hey yes great let's have a surveillance state. and talk about how do you get past that because you're right it's not a conservative thing it's not a liberal thing this is unfortunately just that fastball economic and you know you put a new regulations ok lawmakers can't go to dinner with a lobbyist they can stand any you know high table i mean this is something have to
7:20 pm
essentially collapse in order for it in somehow change ok we can change it with hopefully one blow and that is a constitutional amendment saying that corporations are not human beings they cannot donate to politicians they can i get involved in politics because we've always had rich people in this country influence trying to influence our elections we get that and we've been able to fight that off and there are rich people who are on the right side of history and on the wrong side of history but when you involve the power of multinational corporations buying our politicians we cannot stand up to that the only way that we can fight that influence and that includes the defense contractors by the way is to pass an amendment saying they cannot be involved in the political process if we pass that amendment then we can clean up all of our politics but it really got an ideological debate who want to do that every day we've seen over and over again we have these guys that we're hopeful and ladies that we're hopeful about as they go into office and as soon as they come in they understand how the system works and they get stuck in that system so explain to me
7:21 pm
i'm just you know and i evil american girl how do we change the system realistically. you said who will do that i get your answer i will. so the reason the way you do that is that you do not go to washington and washington is infested the virus has taken over the body of washington you go to and do a constitutional convention which only requires the states to participate and then an amendment can be passed if three quarters of the states ratify it after it comes out of a convention so you do what we did in wisconsin which is you take it to the people you take it to the streets of state by state and you fight and you can win on the state level where you don't even involve washington so we get rid of the problem in its entirety and we do it the old fashioned way by saying it is the american people it can be done it is possible and we will do it so just i have you straight you're not announcing a start of a campaign for office chair or perhaps some sort of new initiative you just keep plowing away on the young turks doing what you've been doing right.
