it's just after nine pm here in the russian capital you're watching our t.v. now to our top story police in new york have violently disperse an anti wall street rally arresting more than seven hundred people after a dramatic showdown on brooklyn bridge while thousands joined the movement dubbed occupy wall street in protest against what they call corporate domination as artie's medina portnoy explains the action of police is likely to bring more anger to the streets of new york and beyond. right about now most of the protesters that were arrested from what we're being told more than seven hundred of them have been released or in the process of being released from prison from where they were being held i spoke with one of the protesters who said he wasn't sure if he could come on camera because he has to speak with his lawyer first all of these folks are being charged with disorderly conduct but as we could tell from the video and the images that were taken on saturday this was quite a clash a clash between thousands of americans that began their demonstration at

a park by wall street and then walked onto the brooklyn bridge now according to some protesters they said that the police officers working for the new york city police department actually helped them get on the bridge or a score to them or didn't stop them from getting on to the bridge and once thousands were on some protesters say that that's when the cops blocked off the bridge on both ends and began to use netting to sort of arrest many of the demonstrators that we can't deny the fact that the media in the u.s. is covering it they are but how they're covering it is a different story for example i just want to show you the front page of the new york times from this sunday ok mind you one new york times reporter journalist was arrested in this protest that took place now here the biggest picture is of one protester in syria and right down here is a little picture of all the new york city protesters that were arrested on the brooklyn bridge so you could see the comparison why they decided to make that

decision i have no clue but many critics do believe that the mainstream media are either trying to take credibility away from all these demonstrators or not give them ample coverage maybe make it a very short story and in the meantime though these protesters that are part of what's called occupy wall street say they are determined to continue to continue to demonstrate. camping out by wall street that's where they have been for the past two weeks now this incident that we saw erupt in new york on saturday was the most recent one but it's not the first one just last weekend we saw cops and demonstrators clashed out by wall street several women were maced in the face by a police officer others were arrested there was a confrontation physical confrontation between police officers and the demonstrators but this occupy wall street group isn't limited to new york city there are demonstrations now taking place in los angeles taking place in boston

taking place in other cities throughout the country. join the live t.v. journalist who was off of the brooklyn bridge when the show to place of mr devereux we would see the brutal pictures circulating in the media of what happened what exactly did you see and experience. well i was covering the protest for the t.v. radio news program democracy now here in the united states and i began with the protesters in liberty square liberty plaza formerly zuccotti park where the protesters of protesters have been camped out for the going into their third week now it was approximately fifteen hundred to two thousand people marching to the brooklyn bridge on the sidewalks as we approached the entrance to the brooklyn bridge there was a bit of a disagreement. to contingents of the protesters as to whether or not to take the pedestrian path along the bridge or to take to the road itself with many chanting off the sidewalk into the streets during understand yourself weren't you i was i

was about i was released because i had a press pass. eventually the crowd decided to take to the streets there were there were far too many people as far as i could tell for the police that were there they are gathered in the bottom of the bridge at the bottom of the bridge to stop and the police stepped aside and the crowd moved on to the bridge people we can again jump and over the banisters and joining the crowd yes well do you think they are the of the police actions were justified and what do you think about their contention saying that they had issued warning therefore if you had gotten on the bridge it was your choice if they had won that you'd be arrested. i was standing at the very front of this crowd and though i did see an officer on the megaphone i could hear him making some sort of statement the noise of the crowd the chanting was far too loud to make out any in any way clearly what he was saying so for those further back in the group seeing the police step aside and seen them walk next to

the crowd could certainly give one the impression that the police were escorting the protesters to the other side of the bridge and that turned out not to be the case when we got to the middle and the police and stopped us and cut off the group of protesters from behind in the front ok well the sort of the biggest of protests happening right now is in new york city of course and the mayor he had said that the protesters are blaming the wrong people you're blaming struggling a bankers and that you should be blaming freddie mac. and that fannie mae and the congress and so do you think that the protesters are blaming the wrong people here. i don't know if the protesters are as focused on blame as that is that it sort of suggests there are a number of grievances. aired but there were more about coming together than they are labeling people or assigning blame how do you think this movement is going to spread though it's been compared to the arab spring has in it it certainly has and
