it's true. the rate is. above stories on our t.v. the forceful break of the rally as a grass just stop bad to wall street protesters gathering steam in the us as people frustrated over the state of the economy say it's time for an american spring. disturbing the words from the to the seas rudolph strongholds where witnesses say olivia's revolutionary forces are targeting civilian homes randomly it's a take the city's constant. battle russia's latest loss of a navigation satellite brings its own us system off to full strength and gives the global coverage for the first time in a fifteen years. she

stopped or eleven pm here in the russian capital you're watching r.t. now to our top story protesters continue to gather on the streets of new york following saturday's brutal showdown on the brooklyn bridge that saw more than seven hundred people arrested the movement called occupy wall street as promising more marches against corporate greed and social inequality are these muddied up ortmeyer caught up with some of those involved. the new season in a different nation the arab spring has become america's arm and on saturday new york's parklane bridge reminded many of a scene from egypt to here square. nearly eight hundred protesters were trapped cuffed arrested and jailed as thousands of activists continued their second week of occupy wall street. demonstrations the
3:02 pm
grassroots movement is campaigning against social inequality and corporate influence over us politics in the interim police conduct against peaceful protesters has come into question. just last week a new york city police officer attacked occupy wall street protesters with pepper spray prompting public outrage and an internal affairs investigation many didn't believe that there would be another dramatic confrontation this weekend after what happened last weekend after four women. while they were corralled by the police after the n.y.p.d. used heavy handed tactics punching some protesters i think many people didn't expect that there would be something like that again this weekend though no reports of pepper spray being used there were thousands of people stopped and hundreds arrested arrested activists were charged with disorderly conduct and summons to
3:03 pm
appear in criminal court. by sunday hundreds appeared on wall street determined to continue their fight against corporate domination once you are not afraid to be arrested anymore the whole enjoy or control of the police state disappears when that happens there are credible possibilities that are open to us and suddenly you can imagine a different world if you believe you can be an agent of change the group says it aims to raise national awareness and change america's economic disparity occupy wall street describes itself as a resistance movement inspired in part by counterparts you can follow me believe our brothers and sisters all over the world care of spring in greece and spain we can see that it did send a powerful message ordinary people are not going to stand for corporate greed anymore and that we're getting up and we're doing something about it. and the
3:04 pm
reason these activists are doing something on wall street rather than washington is because they say you have to follow the money begin where the largest campaign contributions donations and lobby groups come from its corporate interests we were told it was for. four more maybe four years old billy. bush. before that is part of the bush dynasty i mean corporate greed goes all the repeat resident i think this is where they are going to be impulsive it starts with it is true that these demonstrators come here with a variety of different messages but what is uniting what unifies them is a growing frustration over the u.s. economy social inequality and corporate influence on u.s. politics these protesters say if american leaders can't act it will be the american citizens that stand up for their rights reporting from wall street more important part see here. well we have marina. live from new york to give us an update
3:05 pm
we're still seeing major action in new york you've been following developments one of the protesters planning right now. well what is planning to take place in the next few hours is another demonstration of protest by wall street but this one state plays directly outside of city hall now the purpose of this protest demonstrators organizers say is to call on the city to drop charges against really eight hundred protesters that were arrested saturday evening we saw images of those arrests in my past just this played out those arrests took place of course where. wall street protesters marched from wall street to the brooklyn bridge onto the brooklyn bridge it was a very peaceful manner but of course many many people were arrested there were some clashes between police officers and protesters it was a bit of a chaotic scene it was the largest arrests to take place in one single day here in
3:06 pm
new york city since the two thousand and four republican national convention i mean an arrest of nearly eight hundred people in one evening it is a big deal quite a lot to go down here in a big powerful and it's simply a situation that has not occurred in a very long time so of course there is expected to be a big turnout at least at the city hall protests from what we are being told in addition to that some new faces that make the scene in this gathering will be u.s. veterans soldiers members of the marines and army that have said they will be coming out to protect some of the protesters that many believe are being aggressively confronted by the new york city police departments we saw an incident where women were pepper sprayed in the face by a police officer a few weeks ago and then of course these arrests that took place on the brooklyn
3:07 pm
bridge saturday evening so according to what's being reported there are some marines some members of the army that will be coming out those that support. occupy wall street and its movements so clearly this group is expanding it's getting bigger it's getting much more attention and not only are demonstrations planned to be planned for today but there's more demonstrations planned to continue throughout the week so of course we will be following that story will be at the demo that's going to take you place at city hall and of course we'll keep our viewers of it certainly thanks very much for bringing us the very latest. live there from new york. and on our web site or to dot com we're interested in your opinion of the occupy wall street protesters and so far the majority believe we're right missing america's own arab spring less than a quarter consider the protesters are victims of police repression fifteen percent think they are rent a crowd of agents and a minority feel they are nothing more than troublemakers again log on to r.t.
3:08 pm
dot com and have your say. well earlier i spoke to alex by tommy who is an associate professor at brooklyn college and someone who actually took part of the recounts rally and he told me the ultimate aim of the protesters is to create a different political climate in the country. well there's not a lot of mystery about what's going on down there there's a clear sense the united states the power of wall street is completely out of control and they are responsible for an economy and i think young people in particular feel that their futures have been. before the our region salaries and bonuses by these wall street executives are looking for long term solutions i don't think. were term measures appear appealing government to address i think you are or what they're trying to do is to create a political climate where a number of political actors can start to talk seriously about this is really going to reforms that hopefully can break this kind of crime marriage between economic
3:09 pm
and political lisa. and about twenty minutes time marty's peter lavelle and his cross talk yes discuss who if anyone is influencing the decisions taken by governments here's a preview the government. is not doing what its public wants and what its center is true from what. the interest groups are the labor unions and this problem or big corporations who plays well ok and frankly everybody is a change of pace and i saw steve go ahead steve sledged. a lot of the extraordinary . here let's remember one simple fact right in the united states today in the private sector that dominates our economy six point nine percent of workers are represented by a trade union ninety three and point one percent of our working class in the private sector has no union to explain government policy based on
3:10 pm
a union movement as tiny and powerless as this is a chance to see. the forces of libya's new rulers continue their siege of the two remaining often strongholds we spoke to an eyewitness a woman from tripoli who asked that we call. her so much more than bollywood at the bollywood that is a day ago and she was speaking in a low voice and fear for her life and she said her former rebels care little about the wellbeing of civilians. because clinton. norm coleman and he works with. the actress how the two believe he's just because he's. happy because because the second you know you have to keep always to learn to meet anyhow because you want to give police officers if you believe these tips coming is. consistent with the truth.
3:11 pm
incidentally we simply cannot simply produce a gluten free meals were actually. happy for me this isn't this is terrible the carrot top is history to be very. tough this story i'm joined now by patrick henningsen managing editor of the news website twenty first century war i mr henningsen is still very chaotic there on the ground but also on a political level libya's interim leaders say that they will not stay in power once the did after strongholds are defeated and of course this is a consequence of an internal split between especially islamic and liberals and right now the war is not yet over and we're already seeing a power struggle are they in fact it capable of forming a government. i think if you have to have any indication to what the future's going to look like i think all you have to do is look over to egypt. you west in the west very much supported the overthrow of hosni mubarak and what you get in its place
3:12 pm
you get a military government and that military government is still in power and will be in power for some time and the west's idea as to why this is justified and will be the same in tripoli is that it's not stable yet is what they'll say and when stability comes then we'll give you democracy so i believe that they will stay in power for an interim time that interim time can be up to a year or two years it's difficult to say at this point yes speaking about a democracy in their day it's very much a tribal country does it have any chance of being a democratic nation state realistically speaking perhaps in the long run but perhaps there's a chance. well you know it's really difficult because the seeds of the seeds of this country are now basically what's going to grow from the seat of foreign intervention especially the nato nato has given air cover and military cover to a rebel faction that was not chosen or elected by the people mostly from the east
3:13 pm
of the country or from benghazi so they don't have a mandate and what you will have i think is a protracted power struggle you know a lot of the tribal backlash which is going to occur in libya as a result of this war you see this so you've seen the same thing in iraq when it was invaded in occupied you have a vichy government in tripoli now much like you had a vichy government in baghdad and one in kabul as well and you have stability in afghanistan we have stability in iraq you know we don't have stability there's no appearance of stability maybe in iraq after what seven eight years are you going to have the same thing in libya most likely yes the only stability i think the west is really interested in is stable enough for western companies to come in and take what contracts for british companies american companies french companies and trying companies there carving up the country oh let's go back to the situation after
3:14 pm
acting civilians there ne ne nato is saying that it's not planning it's and the operations in libya while the civilians are still in danger from your point of view who is posing the real danger to the civilians reports that thousands are fleeing both asserts and can you believe because of shelling and water shortages so who is the real danger what is it going to injure. well you know the thing that really brought this issue home to me was the report that i read about a fourteen year old boy in sirte died on the operating table because the power went out because the hospital generator was out of fuel why because they put a bull ring around the city no fuel. again to the city so people are dying from this and laws are being lost and i believe obviously what they're doing with search has much like they did with the polluter they're trying to empty the city so that only there's only a military. presence left an insurgent now insurgent presence left in sirte and they're going to carpet bomb it or just shell it for
3:15 pm
a week or two until there's nothing left but a pile of dust obviously civilians are at their highest risk from nato airstrikes and also from rebels who are untrained unorganized basically trying to gain a sort of paramilitaries who don't have any sort of solid leadership from what we can determine their leader just thought i'd last week ok just very briefly now do you think it's a possibility of nato still maybe after the fighting m's. i think anything that's said through official channels right now i.e. washington or whitehall or in paris i think you can pretty much just counter is will basically say whatever they have to say as they've said they're going to pull the troops out of iraq in may of two thousand and three mission accomplished george bush landed on an aircraft carrier and it was a big promotion and a big celebration and here we are ten years eight nine years later i think we will
3:16 pm
see nato i predict if i would put money down right now it would but show up i predict there's going to be nato troops in there well into next year we will see u.n. blue helmets in certain parts of the country and i think it will sit and then they'll keep advisers and they'll be hundreds or thousands of these advisors and there will still be an air presence so i believe because there's going to be a rebellion procrit all the forces are not defeated yet and this is the idea that we've been given from the c.n.n. center the foxes and the b.b.c. is the world's it's all over no it's not all over they're still they're still fighting going on and there's also a huge power struggle within the trans national council of these rebels who are basically fighting for whatever piece of the pie they can get they don't know how long they're going to be in power so they're trying to solidify their own personal interest while they haven't even won the war yet ok well thanks very much for your analysis there patrick had a set managing editor of twenty first century site. thank you. well there are
3:17 pm

number the minimum number the glowing us needs to be able to provide full global coverage now we will see four more cloner satellites launched throughout the rest of the next year and not be the required amount which they set out to provide the best service to customers they'll be looking to use this well it's been a long old road for blowing us from its first development back in the eighty's is a as a development project by the u.s.s.r. it was then taken over by russia and they've been trying to get it not the species to make it a valid rival to the g.p.s. system produced in the united states well it has been a rocky road as well just there last december three grown our satellites plummeted out of the sky into the pacific ocean now out there twenty four satellites are in all but the specialists say the clone ass can provide precise coverage up to six

the arab league says it will compensate palestinians after the us cut its aid payments america for two hundred million dollars in response to palestine statehood bid at the un but do you official say they want to follow suit let's say for that application was submitted to the un last week and is now being considered palestinian leader mahmoud abbas told r.t. arabic the bid should not be seen as something that questions israel's right to exist or the full interview is coming up next hour but here's a preview for you. one of the we do not want to challenge the legitimacy of the state of israel and israel is a branded state and we have recognized it over the arab peace initiative had been adopted when the fifty seven arab and islamic states they could have followed suit
3:21 pm
and recognized israel and that means that we support the existence of the state of israel and do not want to challenge its legitimacy or seek its own is still a should the only thing that we want to challenge the legitimacy of the policy of occupation the legitimacy of israeli settlement activities this is all rights and we did don't have. time now for a brief look at some other international headlines a month so far is raging at a u.s. chemical plant outside dallas in texas where you can see dramatic pictures of the blaze subject of black smoke into the sky and there is believed to be eighty thousand gallons of potentially hazardous chemicals stored at the plant the blazes spreading quickly putting its surrounding areas in danger houses and a nearby elementary school and college have been evacuated over fears that possibly dangerous gases could be released. the

starts on t.v. don't. want to come to business thanks for joining me the recent spike in economic uncertainty has resulted in a heavy selloff in the russian market fear of risk has been hitting it even harder than other emerging markets because we've heard from troika dialog believe that structural weakness in the country's economy we have a relatively weak domestic economic race compared to the other big emerging markets are just we're much more vulnerable to a global recession because of the potential reconsider your oil price and the prices and demand for other commodities and the second reason why we see more fall into that is because russia doesn't have a strong enough to mystic capital base. because we don't yet have you know very extensive structured pension funds and construction saving schemes but as is the case in most other markets we are very reliant on foreign capital flows to
