a situation because more people get laid off from government jobs they're not buying things stores stop selling things manufacturers stop me manufacturing things which cuts tax revenue which causes more people to get laid off from government jobs so you know there's a they're not going to do this but they also said that they will consider the cuts they want and sort of the tax raises but they will consider the cuts president obama seems to be welcoming this obstruction this is what he had to say. people don't have the luxury of least thirteen months while folks a little week to meet somebody living paycheck to paycheck some folks are living day that they didn't actually need it now they want congress to do what they like to do. congress to do their job to your. ok instead of focusing on jobs house republicans are saying you know what's going on i look i think this is all in. part of political demagoguery going to two thousand

and twelve i think what we really need is looking ahead and i wish we did that from the very beginning i think a lot of businesses are sitting on the sidelines a lot of business people are afraid don't know where we're going to be we should not be looking at you know with these kind of small. side they are have already are saying they are going back to the matter is that they're either not sure i mean they're not sure we're going to be settled by any one business person in america with customers who have money in this market and want to buy their product and that uses a lot of these going into you and i don't know if you're going to u.s. bonds that is money because they're scared they're scared of where were things are going and they're not sure if they're going to put it somewhere stable and see what they see is relatively stable and say that's where that's coming from i think it's interesting to see how not yours you're not getting it in answer my question if you're sort of you talk about only government jobs and i don't think that's the main focus right now i don't think we have a big problem with government layoffs i think we have a bigger problem with private. thousand government i don't accept the biggest

problem we have i don't see some signal that i think we have a becoming unemployed thing or a problem we have is we don't have the private industries that we don't have new businesses being started to accommodate those people who are now looking for work because perhaps they lost their government jobs or they lost their job we need a job creation and there are no surprise that the congress want to separate the jobs bill and obama's deficit taking advantage of this and i'm sure republicans will take advantage of it since they're campaigning unemployment one of the provisions the american jobs act is extension of unemployment and the republican senatorial slee oppose this last time in fact the deal they made was we'll give you one year of job benefits if you give us two years of tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires and economists of bank of america issued a report today saying that the economy will if these if the unemployment benefits are not extended the economy will lose fifty seven billion dollars and will shrink by four chance for size this is what really with republicans once again i think you are both republicans democrats this is again you know this is small bag i. mind in

passing and go for it this is not not what we should be focusing on we should pass this extended maybe reform it as some people have suggested but you know extend it that's why. focus and focus on. reforming our unfunded liabilities of medicare medicaid social security that's what needs to be done to put our ship on a fiscal course they can be sustained and that will make businesses feel that america is getting their house in order and they'll feel safe and good that's the you know i mean calling for. eliminating the. allowing the government to negotiate drug prices and medicare which will solve both problems though they will not solve the problem you need to actually fundamental reform of medicare especially. rather well i mean i think that gene is right i think that both sides can be accused demagogue and i think both sides can be accused of poison things hostage to the fact is that republicans and democrats have a completely different vision for how demagoguing people oh. obviously what's going

on with harry reid and the senate and the negotiations that go on the house and it's not the republicans control both houses they don't they have a divided congress and we've a president who was not using his cantor is literally holding a press to say to the american people. you know screw off what he signed the american people is that we have huge differences because we have a divided congress and what obama has given us is not acceptable he knew it was going to be acceptable and he has an opportunity to go out there and stomp on it and then we all know it's these it has just proved already starting our economy is hurt i agree trying it we're not going to only play the hurt sherman turn if you've got a congress that will go along with what you're trying to look. michael lewis has a very important essay out and then he fair this week and he goes to california and he looks at what's happening on the local level and there's scary stuff going on in the state and city level we've promised too much that we haven't been able to point you can't capture we added this show. that you know you have high taxes in the city

on was birth in the belly of what is today the beast that's right in seventeen eighty nine and by the way it typically had to john nichols who first told me about this it capital of the united states and seven hundred eighty nine i actually knew this party for about two hundred twenty three years the capital united states and seven hundred eighty nine was not here in washington d.c. instead it was in new york city and congress convened in a building called federal hall which was located at twenty six wall street right across the way from where the new york stock exchange stands today. right across the way and this afternoon tens of thousands of people marched through the streets of new york city exercising those first amendment rights but they talked about in that bill of rights in the in in amendment number one and marching and protesting against the hijacking and frankly the destruction of our economy by the

bankers on wall street but beyond the irony of americans taking to the streets in protest against wall street using that very same first amendment it was and the and the right associated with it was clear that wall street there's a more disturbing irony. and that's how that very same first amendment right is now being eroded in the very same place it was created what is a right to peaceably assemble and petition the government look like to look like a group of women getting penned up and then pepper sprayed without provocation a block or two away from where james madison read the first amendment is the right to peaceably assemble look like seven hundred people getting corralled together on the brooklyn bridge you mean and profit one by one through the night shut down of busses book and processed this isn't what our founding fathers imagine when they drafted those about words the first amendment doesn't say the right to peaceably assemble and free speech zones only where the right to peaceably assemble as long

as you're not blocking traffic or the right to peaceably assemble as long as you don't get on the nerves of a rogue n.y.p.d. cop it says the right to peaceably assemble simple and straightforward which is exactly what people have been doing in manhattan and frankly all over the nation for the past three weeks exactly the way our founders hoped our democracy would they believed that when things went to stray and the government stopped listening to the people and concentrated wealth started threatening economic freedom then the people could would and should take to the streets demand change without bloodshed without pepper spray and without fail it's if they saw how these people young and old have been treated over the last three weeks as they exercise their first a memorize if our founding fathers saw that it would be horrified our first amendment was created on we all street and that was our nation's political capital
