11:30 pm
even though it was put on by a hate group it took place on judaism's holiest day so observant jews couldn't attend and they made it pretty clear they weren't interested in having muslims or mormon show up so we should values are valued by the right way the ninety nine percent movement is quickly covering ninety nine percent of the nation looks like the one percent is a little worried about the drastic measures the right wingers are resorting to to deal rail the growing occupation. you need to know this other weekend another surge in the occupy wall street movement or as it is now referred to with occupations taking place all around the nation the ninety nine percent were once again thousands of demonstrations stretched across america occupying twenty five cities over the weekend with
11:31 pm
a movement might soon have a problem on its hands conservatives trying to sabotage it over the weekend an assistant editor with the right wing magazine the american spectator bragged that he had infiltrated a group of protesters as they marched in the smithsonian air and space museum on saturday and that he was at the forefront of provoking the police to respond violently and purpose protesting the museum's unmanned drone exhibition or pepper sprayed after khan confrontation with a music security guard take a look. patrick holley the right wing editor whose only intention was as he put it in an article published later vote to mock and undermine and. at the moment is one of the first
11:32 pm
to top confront the museum's police leading to the confrontation you just saw the article holly wrote bragging about his undermining was later scrubbed from the american spectators website and then we posted with out his reference to mocking and undermining the ninety nine percent movement so now that it's clear occupy wall street isn't going away any time soon and it's only way to get bigger on the lookout for agent provocateurs there's a resorting to violent track tactics to sabotage this truly grassroots movement joining me now is dennis trainer jr an organizer with october two thousand and eleven was on hand at the air and space museum this week and it's welcome thank you for having me and you've been you've been actually kind of bouncing back and forth between the two major groups that are meeting here in d.c. the october two thousand and eleven which is more anti-war focused in the and the and the one in mcpherson square which is kind of more occupy wall street right from an organizer we thought there were two thousand and eleven but we're told inspired and energized by the occupy everywhere including the occupy d.c.
11:33 pm
movement one thing that happened despite the efforts of sabotage over the weekend just came from a meeting with the d.c. parks police and they have granted us a four month extension on what was a four day permitted rally so we are not going anywhere people worried about risking arrest or worried about how long we're going to be there we're going to be in freedom plaza for the duration and we are part of our message is of course antiwar but we also want to redirect those resources we can save on homicide and murder in all parts of the all corners of the globe human and environmental need so we're a very big tent and there's plenty of room on the plaza for all those dishes and what's going on with the mcpherson square rallies there they are doing the same kind of consensus general assembly model that we were learning to do as well that we've learned from the occupy wall street folks so you're certain. that we did it we were starting to do it now every day there are two general assembly some lease per day. but the point of clarified. ation about what happened at the museum this
11:34 pm
past weekend the enter that you mentioned may have mocked or may not have mocked but he was also accompanied by a gentleman who was with our group for the last three days in freedom plaza six foot three guy who was right in front of me as we entered the vestibule of the museum and he grabbed a museum guard by the shoulders and showed him physically back against the wall into another into another guard and that's when the pepper spray came out i was pepper sprayed about twenty five of the people were pepper sprayed which actually doesn't seem like such a and under reasonable response if you're if you're an officer in your job is to keep a building safe and somebody grabs you and shoves you back to thank god and caught a gun pick ready to pull out a gun and we are committed to nonviolence as a means of social change and we don't think that any violent retaliation even if this was against us is going to get us where we need to go that person came back to freedom plaza we confronted him and asked him to leave and he did leave but then he came back again dressed in different clothes so at this point you know your
11:35 pm
assertion to your viewers is a very real one there are agent provocateurs committed to infiltrating our movement to discredit us but we are a nonviolent movement committed to nonviolence it's remarkable. and you think this this is going to be the new norm sabotaging the ninety nine percent movement we see in the the news media try to marginalize them we've seen politicians like eric cantor calling them a mob and saying that we're trying they're trying to divide america and bexar a place of radical violent leftists we are in revolt we are very angry don't get us wrong but we believe that that revolt enough people engaging in the act of the verb revolt is going to turn into the noun revolution the be the arab spring it was constant wave is turning into the american autumn but that american autumn is a revolution that can only happen nonviolently and it will happen on. the institutions of america just for the record you seek to tear them down to reform this is not a. movement this is
11:36 pm
a revolutionary movement representative democracy is clearly broken if you look at october two thousand and eleven or oregon you see any of the seven demands that are clearly with their tax the rich welfare reform clean elections cetera et cetera et cetera bring the troops home. the majority of people this is a super majority of book the american people want and that's that's kevin zeese and that's not the occupy wall street so right well i'm an organizer with kevin zeese is the october to vote about it so so of the larger movement yeah you know you said you speak for both is is the is the larger movement a let's bring to end if you're going to bring down the institutions of america what do you not replace them with well first of all i don't i don't speak for both movements i speak for october two thousand and eleven i don't want to step in and speak for them i have i have talked with them and i'm inspired by them but i don't i look at the i don't even think any one of them is ready to speak for them yet. but when we replace them with well you know this this open horizontal process is a slow process that doesn't lend itself to sound bites we can replace it with
11:37 pm
a society that is peaceful and that puts human needs above corporate greed if that's a broad stroke that's what we want to do it's a great start to us thank you thank you thank you for being with us. beyond sabotaging the movement many conservatives are simply ridiculing take a look at this video it's making its way around the right wing blogosphere right now it's an occupy atlanta meeting in which the people occupy the park debated whether or not they should let congressman john lewis address the crowd. thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank god. i didn't think i was. thinking. was i. thank you. i thank you. thank you.
11:38 pm
thank you thank you thank you i was. a. q. thank you and that went on for another long long ten minutes with the group finally deciding to invite not to invite congressman lewis to speak at that point but there were going back later because they hadn't figured finish for their own agenda items so any over the weekend i get a e-mail with
11:39 pm
a clip of this from a friend of mine who's a conservative saying. he didn't find this whole process insane and my response was no i didn't say in fact i thought it was a great series lots of you know from people who are participating i thought it was a really really see you know this you know the chant this is what democracy looks like. democracy in the broadest sense in the purest sense is about the people alternately it it takes forms and structures and builds establishment and it's can still be democracy becomes representative democracy typically but contrast this with the tea party take it take a look at this. you are. very scared thank you is going to be the heart and see everything we can get you and i thank you so much for the human species deserve
11:40 pm
a great service with so much further into all this is. so. typical of all the tea parties and nobody was asked a what do you think what are we going to do you know what steps are we going to take what for example should we have a health care system a national health care system or not and if not what should we do as an alternative should we should we for example have war should we be sure we did in libya should we be in a war in the middle east whose whose side should we be on if we're going to war be having a war should we be holy war criminals of the past accountable are they even war criminals bush and rumsfeld and cheney like that no questions about the banks here's what i'm going to do but the bastards george bush gave them up it turns out with him in the fed you know over ten trillion dollar bailout what are we going to do about them and no discussion of that what it was was you know. these various tea party organizations funded by multimillionaire lobbyist dick armey and the koch
11:41 pm
brothers bringing these fancy two hundred fifty thousand dollar buses with hundred thousand dollar paint jobs and and leaders behaving like rock stars on the podium giving their speeches and then going home and that was it and people were just expected to follow nothing democratic about it at all you know chris matthews of all people made this remarkable observation about a year ago he said republicans want a leader democrats want to mean. and it was i saw it i thought. it's really true and and frankly i think it's a good thing leader the word leader doesn't appear in the constitution but there's a lot the word meanings isn't in there but there's a whole lot of discussion about meetings in the constitution it's the it's our you know legislative body so frankly taking given a choice i'll take a meeting over a media annoyed or self annoyed leader any good.
11:42 pm
that would be the good in the very very iraq hoed grathwohl maniacally ugly good mitt romney as long as we're talking economics not occasionally says the right thing speaking of the value voters summit romney can down rather than pander to the hateful rhetoric coming from the american family association romney said we should remember the decency and civility are values to one of the speakers that will follow me today has crossed that line what is the language doesn't advance our cause it is never softened a single heart or changed a single mind well so i guess romney feels a little bit more comfortable moving to the rational middle now that rick perry is imploding. the bad peter king taking a break from his mccarthy as hearings into american muslim communities public and
11:43 pm
congressman peter king went on the war ingram show to warn the nation about the occupy wall street. fifty four if you want it going out there there is no chance of corporate power to very free and very american power and frank capra who are. very very very great imo mark remember but after going to. where you are left wing three pounds but not immediately or part them are very poor policy paragraph no i guess king is referring to run the left wing took to the streets jim to vietnam war and poverty clean up our air and water and discrimination against blacks i can see why republican doesn't want that to happen . and the very very ugly rich don't google my name santorum in an interview with fox so-called news this weekend santorum lashed out at those who point out the gay rights is the new c. civil rights movement of our time. but if you are black by the
11:44 pm
color of your skin you are not you know homosexual necessarily by by obviously by the color of your skin and there are people who were gay and lived the gay lifestyle and aren't anymore i don't know if that's the similar situation i don't think that's the case with anybody that's black so it's not a deal people are born gay argument sounds like santorum has been snooping around michele bachmann's husband is a therapy clauson i mean clinic but santorum is partially right there are people who are forced to hide the fact that they're gay because of fools like him would bring back laws against homosexuality if they had a chance and that's a very serious. coming up many americans took a recess from work to celebrate the anniversary of christer earth columbus's discovery in today's daily takeoff breakdown while honoring him is actually honoring the very worst aspects of.

drives the world the fear mongering used by politicians who makes decisions who could break through get through it if you may who can you trust no one who is your view with the global machinery to see where we had a state controlled capitalism it's called satchels when nobody dares to ask we do our t. question morning. folks.
11:46 pm
this weekend all the big names in the writing most of the official republican candidates for president and verge here in washington d.c. for the so-called value voters summit that is unless you are jewish which case you probably missed most of the summit since it was scheduled during young kapoor the holiest day of the year in the jewish faith i guess we know which religions values are being promoted and which weren't but the sponsors seat of the sponsors of the event was hosted by the american family association an organization so than poverty law center says is a hate group but that didn't deter front runners like mitt romney and rick perry from showing up and speaking in romney's case he might have reconsidered if he'd known in advance of the summit would devolve into a mormon bashing festival for more on this as well as the other bigotry spewed from the so-called values voters summit and the attempts by glenn beck to return from obscurity i'm joined by del stan washington bureau chief of alter net org del
11:47 pm
welcome thank you see you get the thanks for thanks for showing up. aside from the typical issues abortion gay marriage it seems like this year's so-called value voters summit had a streak of an time warmest mormonism to here's just a quick clip of the reverend jeffers speaking to reporters. southern baptist convention which is the largest protestant denomination the world has officially labeled mormonism is a cult i think mitt romney's a good moral man but i think those of us who are born again probably reserve christ should always prefer a competent christian to a competent to a competent non-christian like mitt romney so that's why i'm enthusiastic about rick perry but what do you say to the good values which is there catchphrase for fundamental christian christianity and voters and when i see those two juxtaposed i think these guys have never read the constitution well they have their own reading
11:48 pm
of the constitution bryan fischer who was. the american family association official who appeared on the stage after mitt romney actually has said that the constitution applies to only christians really yes he has. well you know i mean he lives in his own universe but there's other people who want to buy into that there's a it's you know it's a real kind of cultural a very particular cultural you but it's very easy to get caught up in the bigotry show. which was very carefully orchestrated to. mitt romney in my view you know co-sponsors was the american family association so they put bryan fischer on the stage right after romney knowing romney would have to we speak to some other things that he is but he's also very anti mormon and and made those comments to reporters later about that and you had the jeffress show and then you had bill
11:49 pm
bennett coming on to sort of shake his finger at everybody and say just you know you're not playing nice but you can speak so you kind of like was like you know the outsider who could sort of get away with that and they could you know be polite about it and then went back was a mormon himself came on enough soft everybody and said you know i celebrate your rights to say things that may imperil me. and members of my faith. do you think anybody there actually realize the glenn becks of mormon it's one of the things that he has gone out of his way to publicize i think most people who watched his fox show never had a clue in fact he almost portrays himself as a fundamentalist christian well there's space and he did say it very openly so that only those were already in the know that he was a mormon would get it he said that he was a proud member of the church of jesus christ and left out the part and latter day saints which of course is the meaning of the formal name of the mormon church but the show the bigotry show is really almost
11:50 pm
a smoke and mirrors to obscure an economic agenda which was much more up front and theology ised at this particularly. summit what would you see going on it now is we four where you had sort of the the magic act a family values kind of securing you know a secular economic agenda now that economic agenda is becoming theology ised and you start hearing speakers say things from the stage like death is not the call value. free markets. the idea comes from. these are really christian reconstructionist principles that are being applied so you have a theology izing of sort of the koch brothers agenda and why you have all this mormon intime kind of socking up this space and have been you know getting progressive to. you know yanking our change to respond as we like we will
11:51 pm
look at these people who are so bigoted there's this whole other thing going on that's all in service i mean romney is not a neo libertarian on economics and that's really the issue with him it's not that he's a mormon. but that's how they're going to knock him out. if they do you think they might knock him out of the republican primary and if so who would replace him it could be mutually assured destruction because rick perry is in such bad shape for four yeah but they really seem to be throwing in behind him and the koch brothers are apparently big buddies of well and well they're kind of sort of but they also have herman cain in the race you know colonel that's very very he was the yeah they were grabbing yeah and i think was also launched to sort of hurt romney so it's hard to see how it's all going to shake out it's hard to see how romney gets through the early primaries because of the banjoko vote it's hard to see how perry can get much beyond and be early primaries if you even get that far he's not doing
11:52 pm
well in iowa it's fascinating the whole the whole the whole circus adele you're doing a great job reporting on thank you so much for going into what must have been a very bizarre circumstances reason alternative on behalf of all the rest of us sadly values voters is just another smoke screen name of mr action or oxymoron like healthy forest initiative or clean skies act or job creators the good news is that more and more americans are watching these right wing freak shows with horror. today is columbus day which means americans get the day off work to commemorate christopher columbus is discovering the so-called new world even though it had
11:53 pm
already been discovered and was settled for tens of thousands of years before going on the showed up but what we're really celebrating today is happy genocide day to day when christopher columbus began to wipe out an entire indigenous population in a way that would even make whole pot a watch in fourteen ninety two columbus was on a manic hunt for goal when he set sail and eventually landed his spaniel as he wrote in a letter to the king and queen of spain gold is most excellent gold constitutes treasure and he who has it does all he wants in the world and can even lift souls up to paradise but when he landed in what he called the new world he found something just as good as gold he found millions of people living a peaceful idyllic life people who in columbus's mind would make great spy and a good road to the spanish monarchs they are well built with good bodies and handsome features they do not bear arms like they don't have rockets and they don't
11:54 pm
know them they don't understand bradman's for i showed them a sword then they then they took it by the edge and cut themselves out of ignorance they had no iron their spears or made a cane they would make the servants with fifty round we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want and here there are so many of these slaves although they are living things they are as good as gold. what columbus did to the island and the tragedy that he brought to the native population there has been largely erased by time and replaced by a glorified story of a bold explorer who changed the planet in reality though as a result of what we've learned from writings by christopher columbus his own man and he himself that he raped pillaged and slaved and slaughtered millions of people just to get rich not exactly the type of guy worthy of a mean streak parade want to columbus as crewman. described the scene when columbus
11:55 pm
arrived in his hispanic for the second time with and powers ins of tying a nose or or what were referred to as indians came out to greet the ship when our rights when our caravels as the large ships were to leave for spain we gathered one thousand six hundred male and female persons of those indians for those who remained we let it be known to the spaniards in the vicinity that anyone who wanted to take some of them could do so to the amount desired which was done when i went on to write that he took his own sex slave a beautiful teenage girl who in his words quote resisted with all her strength and quote leaving him no other choice but to quote thrasher mercilessly and raper and quote and when columbus his men did good work columbus routinely presented them with their very own sex slaves and that was just the beginning columbus eventually started up a global child sex slave trade exporting indians all over the world as he bragged
11:56 pm
to a friend in a letter written in fifteen hundred one hundred castellanos a spanish crime are as easily obtained for a woman as for a farm and it is very general and there are plenty of dealers who go about looking for girls those from nine to ten years older now and demand i guess columbus is child sex slave trade didn't make it into most history books. eventually under columbus's orders life for the time you know in their home island got so bad that they resorted to mass suicide as the spanish missionary pedro cordoba noted fifteen seventeen twenty five years after columbus arrived as a result of the sufferings and hard labor they endured and indians choose and have chosen suicide occasionally one hundred have committed mass suicide the women exhausted by labor have shunned conception in childbirth many when pregnant have taken something to abort and others have aborted others after delivery have killed their children with their own hands so as not to leave them in such oppressive
11:57 pm
slavery by the time cordoba wrote those words the indigenous population on the island had plummeted from roughly three million people before columbus arrived to only twelve thousand people twenty five years later a fuel a few decades later no one was left and entire culture and people completely wiped off the map and largely forgotten thanks to christopher columbus and today oddly we celebrate this man and thus we perpetuate the cycle of slaughter and destruction from what the celts did three thousand years ago to aboriginal europeans to roam what the romans did two thousand years ago to the few tribes left in europe to what you're really european settlers did to the native americans to our military did to filipinos of the turn of the twentieth century to the covert cia operations that made it dictators in africa and south america free reign for mass murder to what our ongoing wars in the middle east are doing today to millions have been named
