really you believe something instancing. from. the future. we've got the downs in beantown this says police in riot gear arrest hundreds of peaceful protesters in boston but in washington d.c. a different story law enforcement officer showing capitol kindness to protesters in freedom square so what's with these different approaches taken by the wee. hours of the birth of society represents all the reasons why people are coming together. trying to make a living. and she's no different traveling probably los angeles to new york to try to fix a broken system so is this young woman once her time and talents to improve america

and these spaces of occupation really are the damage caused by wall street. and many are coming out of the for those standing up to wall street and big business including none other than the pop artist and activist immortal technique give us his thoughts on the occupy wall street movement and exclusive. and this is our last night basically this exact time there was a large promo boruc demonstration. looks like anderson cooper only cares about protests taking place in other countries too busy to report on what's happening in his own backyard so as c.n.n. fails to cover occupy wall street can we really trust a network claiming to be the quote most trusted name in news. it's tuesday october eleventh four pm in washington d.c. and christine for is out there watching our team well let's go straight to
4:02 pm
a look at the latest in the movement to occupy wall street and go not to wall street this time but to boston massachusetts where one of the biggest crackdowns by police so far took place over night. more than one hundred people were arrested after one o'clock this morning when hundreds of boston and transit police officers some of them in riot gear surrounded a group in dewey square park protesters say officers tore down their tents started handcuffing people and it made no distinction protesters method medics or legal observers apparently several members from the group veterans for peace were among those arrested again this was one of the largest crackdowns by police since the occupy wall street protest began nearly a month ago and we wanted to lay out for you what it looks like from the front lines in terms of police action this video of course from new york city from last week of officers using their batons to try to keep protesters from crossing the
4:03 pm
barriers. here once again that video from boston overnight as police action resulted in the camps being torn down and more than one hundred arrests but take a look at this this was from yesterday and freedom plaza right here in washington d.c. i was down there two officers with the national park service came in their hats smiling protesters here actually had permits to camp over the weekend and despite those permits expiring all seems to be just fine with minimal police activity here now part of this could have to do with a lawsuit involving d.c. police for hundreds of thousands of dollars were paid out and a police chief was fired over the treatment of people protesting the world bank and the international monetary fund about eight years ago could be the reason whatever the reason i want to talk more about this so let's go now to rob call publisher of op ed news dot com and a regular contributor to the huffington post hey there rob i want to talk to you about the different treatment by police in these different cities i want to take
4:04 pm
a gander at why that is. i think that the different cities have different policies but also each occupy movement location has different people with different agendas and some of them are going to be looking for trouble and a lot of it is about the individual police who are even the lieutenants or captains who are who are on duty we've had experience in philadelphia with some police where they arrest our journalists and other times where the police are just great with a lot of personal differences i think but you don't think i've ever had anything to do with the police and you know where they're from. i think it does yes i think that it's kind of surprising that in new york and boston which are liberal cities you'd see this but again every city is going to
4:05 pm
have police who cover all of the different ranges of opinions in any ologies and so you're going to have police who are more sensitive when we were down in washington over the weekend we saw one policeman who literally attacked the signs and tore them apart and he went after people pretty viciously and it looked like he was about ready to explode that's one guy you can take one person over all the police in washington d.c. were great but it's just like. when we were in washington on sunday one protester went to the white house and he threw a shoe you know the word was used to throw it over the fence but it hit a policeman and they tried to stop him from doing anything that involved throwing anything but one person can mess things up whether they're on the protest side or on the police side very good so i have and there ought to be a way for the police and the protesters to work together to kind of coordinating
4:06 pm
with each other to figure it out is this guy i want to you we're not the same thing with the police because when we think about officer below nya his fellow officers were looking at him like he was out of his mind and very sure i mean i think that's a really good point that that in from cases they can be one person i want to ask you about that the mayor of boston has that civil disobedience will not be tolerated when it disrupts the functions of the city i know that protesters say you know they're fighting for a better economy for more jobs and what do you make of this argument that the protesters are getting the in the way of some people who are just trying to do their jobs trying to go to work. i think that the protesters are occupying places where there's lots of room and the police and the mayor is playing a game when it comes to this let's face it if the police want to arrest you for something they'll find a way to do it we've seen that over and over again in this country whether it's the apartment of justice or
4:07 pm
a local cop saying that you jaywalked i talked about this in philadelphia yesterday with one of the civil affairs police and i asked him that exact question because he said they were getting along great feeling really good about the way things were going with the occupation in occupy philly and i looked at all these tents on city property and i knew that if they wanted to they could have arrested people who were clearing the tents because by technicalities there are laws being broken so the mayor i don't think he's talking necessarily in good faith because if he wants to he can arrest everybody there or throw him or if he wants to allow free speech that's a different story then if he wants to allow the constitution to work itself through that's something different and it's an excuse if you're going to say we want to give everybody their civil rights because there's plenty of room in those places and i want to talk to you because you have you're one of the few people that we've
4:08 pm
got on the show that's been to several different approach path our surrounding sort of the message of occupy wall street are one of been one hundred the most surprising things that you've seen in the various places that you ben. will it was hard for me to get used to the human mike at first we were somebody says something that a whole bunch of people say it once and it made me a little impatient at first but this is not just for me this is this is coming out of a different generation what we're seeing in these occupation movement the occupy movement is a really bottom up phenomenon and i do a radio show bottom up radio because i believe that our technology is affecting our brains and the way we think in the way we interact with people and this bottom up phenomenon is something that we're seeing all these kids doing and people who are over thirty or thirty five don't get it and they have to really learn it and understand it and tolerate it and get used to it because what we're seeing as i think is another manifestation is how our brain our young people's brains with
4:09 pm
these new bottom up ways of doing things are really changing now people who were who are over sixty used to watch movies where a single scene would last two minutes now today's movies a scene is a half a second and there are so many ways that our minds are different so what we're seeing is a lot of mocking of what's happening in the wall street or in philadelphia or in washington on the right third they're saying well they don't know what they're doing and they're just having a bunch of conversations about where they're going yeah this is bottom up stuff happening what's happening here could be as big a deal as the space program when we first started the space program we were talking about wanting a satellite into space was a rocket up there we didn't know that an explosion of technologies that everybody would use every day that would change our lives we didn't know that the satellites
4:10 pm
that were being sent up would be used for cellphones eventually they don't even exist what's happening here is a phenomenon that's huge it's an explosion and on the right there are people like orrin hatch who are saying. this is dangerous he's right but he doesn't have a clue dangerous it is what do you think it's going to take you know what do you think it's going to take for these protests and certainly you know we keep hearing these protests continue to grow they're not losing steam they're gaining steam but in terms of actually translating from you know messaging yelling marching occupying how does that then translate into action into real change happening in this country i'm not sure i think that one thing will happen i talked to a twenty year old in philadelphia matt he was out of school for it took the year off of these he's doing the occupy the occupy philadelphia he said even if they set
4:11 pm
their occupy thought healthy things would still could go wrong because people are waking up there are so many there's a lot of anger about this people are furious that they're getting ripped off that the system is broken that it no longer represents the people that the congress represents corporations now this is a very common thing that whether they're democrats or republicans it doesn't matter who you vote for because they're going to take care of the corporations first not the people and i think that what's going to happen is that as more and more people get into this like ok boston had one hundred people arrested there are probably going to be five hundred people more showing up because that happened there was a sign down in washington that said screw us and we multiply interesting that map of things to be happening especially after he's out of the seven hundred people arrested on the brooklyn bridge in new york i want to thank you so much for joining us ron paul publisher of offered news dot com. and thing on the occupy wall street story in new york of course the birthplace of occupy wall street is not just
4:12 pm
a movement but a group of people who say they want real change in the u.s. and their demands are starting to be shown around the world artie's on the stars which are going to take a look at one of the faces in the crowd who's helped to get other faces in the crowd shown on t.v. screens class across the globe. you know when they have some guts say go down during the week and really protest on the bankers around you know why we should be leverage here and they have now camped out in a wall street for over three weeks as a joke to start a party and their families are trying to have burning man girls living right goes out gets accused of being chaotic an educated teenage hippies in reality it's the old and the young and those in between were out on the streets all of the people here are different walks of life about something if you try to settle down every piece of the it should be to much to speak about my first. name from texas thirty
4:13 pm
one year old katie did some study political science and college and is now filmmaker volunteer in the camps media center her family lived the american dream until the recession broke it i just look at what happens to the world around me and like everyone i know is anxious for us to take them to something you know it's probably a filing you know and it's like going to be there's elements of rebirth of society represents all the reasons why people are coming together you know trying to make sure that. what this is to katie and other occupiers is the beginning of a true revolution and i feel like this is what i've been working for my wife and i have opted for something. better for weeks into the demonstrating the occupy wall street movement gets accused of not having one clear message if you are on a subway car with ten different people and you ask them all you know what problems you have with your government you would probably have a list of
4:14 pm
a hundred different demands but over many concerns their message is the scene the american system needs fixing is the one percent didn't just reject the protests of face value they would see that the group wants change that could be good for everyone instead he says right now we're seeing it from the one percent about. against the rapid growth. if i were them i would i would be nervous and i think a lot of things like getting a large standing like on the brooklyn bridge that kind of shows that there is a reaction from the one percent simple little outlets are words i did. you know i'm hoping that we start reading them it's on until we do like hundreds of others he's staying put using her skills talents and passion to put in a hard day's work at improving america in the future. you know right now we
4:15 pm
just saw some of the faces of the occupy wall street protests are she is of course been on the ground covering this since september seventeenth when it started and our correspondents and producers have also had the opportunity to talk to so many of those camping out to fight for change and while in the financial district are to correspondent marina port and i are ready to pop artist and activist immortal technique here is part of that exclusive interview. what do you think the difference is between the occupy wall street movement and become a party that you know there's been a lot of parish running it's me ok. when people talk about the tea party they think that their reaction to obama i think this is a great mistake the tea party's reaction is against its own party first it's against the republicans under their first enemies before you can actually get to election you have to run in a. primary who were their first enemies republicans that they didn't think were for enough to the right they didn't think that their values were conservative enough so
4:16 pm
they put them on the truck and on the chopping block to show everybody out there we are willing to get rid of our own if you do not come back home and this is your home now. that's the difference we're not willing to just attack people and when we're willing to sit down and have discussions with people before we take it to that degree they will straight out the bank no we're going for the judgment. part of that people think because we organized here and people who are here that we're just willing to politically you know savagely mall anybody that's not the case we want to have discussions with with individuals who are in charge of things i would say this is a more all encompassing this is libertarians this is independents this is some democrats this is some republicans more democrats obviously than republicans were with us and asking questions about foreign policy because i don't think the majority of people here believe that a woman who's the victim of rape or incest to be forced to have a child and we don't believe that government has the right to have all of these
4:17 pm
private meetings behind our back about what we need to do there was a there was a side out here that said you know police offices you one bounced check away from being out here with the rest of us to look at a lot of people think they're angry they're screaming at cops but yet understand they're just working class individuals whose their boss the mayor the mayor is good money with wall street he's literally. he's closer to wall street than america is this. i don't mean. that's that's his homie those are his equals when they die you pours out a little liquor for them. you know he shows up at all the birthday parties he's probably godfather to some of their children these people they're like an american aristocracy. so when he says something to the police commissioner the police commissioner says something to the white shirts and the white shirts kick down to the soldiers it's similar to what we see in the most brutal parts of the occupation of iraq and afghanistan the most brutal parts of that war soldiers held accountable
4:18 pm
for terrible things that happened within the confines of the war but no officers no generals nobody that implemented these policies nobody that said hey you know what take him into the back and cut his hands off until he tells me what i want to hear or reproduce she can't stand it so she gives us the information that we want but that's only a tribute to the contractors to the soldiers not to the upper levels not to the cia memos not to the people that wrote them which is why when i look at cops this is a certain amount of cynicism that i have when people say oh they're all evil they're all we can know they're not evil the only thing they're people that are innocently following orders and if they don't follow orders they lose their job like the sign said their one bounced check for being right here with the rest of us and as soon as they realized and i think that's also a big difference between this movement and between the arab spring as the difference is that in the arab spring there was a concentrated force of security forces whether it be military or national guard and decided to join with the move because those were the people they were literally
4:19 pm
saying well these are people that are being told by my government that i have to go to war with other countries to protect and yet now i'm being told to attack and kill the same people at some point everybody has to question what they're doing and why they're even here what they're doing is their job if they're being expressive their democracy and a greater question what do they ever really do to be considered an american. if you fall out of new york or new jersey or kansas that's why you're an american if you were to stand up for you kumin rights in your civil rights if you have a question of government trying to infringe on your civil liberties if you ever try to reform a government that's done nothing but reach this country dry stealing from people constantly. you know in two thousand and eight this country was ready to go up in office obama was not the the great unifier he was the great pacifier. he came in here and said no it's going to be ok i'm going to take care of all this needs a care of all of it this is not hatred towards him this is not agenda gratian of
4:20 pm
him as of me but he knows the system he has to stand up for because he's tied to it to mike bloomberg is tied to wall street. if people come here from the opposition people that consistently been a part of taking advantage of the people that are here that are upset at the who are doing because it exposes what they've been doing this whole time which exposes the corruption behind closed doors then we know we're on the right. and for the full interview with hip hop artist and political activist immortal technique as our web site at youtube dot com slash r t america. and you know a major chapter of this story is the chapter on the media how the movement was largely ignored by the mainstream media i first went spun in interesting ways but there is still one network that seems to be spending a less time covering the protests than the others it's the network most people still turn to when there are major breaking news events going on and with this
4:21 pm
breaking news they're just not there. through the lens. and onto the screen it took some time but much of mainstream media is finally showing up to report on the movement that started as occupy wall street. and is spreading to what some are now calling up you play everywhere. california washington d.c. up to london but one network seems to not have gotten the memo c.n.n. also known as the most trusted name in news but perhaps there's a good reason after all there has been some major news over the last few days over the phone with. michael jackson's doctors trial thank you to everyone amanda knox is useful and the top story over the weekend. erin burnett host of c.n.n.'s new
4:22 pm
a show outfront did go to the protest and talks to one single protester and teaches him a lesson so do you know that taxpayers actually made money on the wall street bailout because of this they may have not yet but they didn't know when i was reporting how does that make it go any differently than the words. if i were right it might also featured in her report evidence you could call it that it's not just all hippies at the protests they're all ok. kinds of people their babies teachers cheerleaders uncle sam and. people that are not featured no don't prize winning economist joseph stiglitz who attended the protests and showed his support eighty nine year old retired teacher dominic zola or sixty seven year old leonard she cut who came from california and i had enough money to survive my lifetime goal i don't have a problem but. great grandparents. great grandparents
4:23 pm
that. can't it seems their stories will make it into the top story of one major network their list of demands seen by many as too complex a charge with which organizers disagree is not a cognitive ability problem here unless maybe you're a c.n.n. producer and it's it's a problem of soundbites having shrunk while the demands of growth but what about intrepid reporter interesting cooper will surely pitch a tent with the rest after all he went to haiti clearly something in japan there's a car over here there's another car over there turns out he's been too busy learning how to brush his dog's teeth to get the canine it be in diapers with no time to step outside and report on what's happening. christine for sound our team. our i want to talk more about this about the mainstream media coverage of occupy wall street in general jesselyn graca is one of the wall street protesters
4:24 pm
and have an opportunity to voice some of his concerns to one of the corporate media outlets when he was interviewed by a reporter at fox news take a listen. it's fun to. be here especially conservative leaders such as yourself because we find that we can be coming for me just on your p.c. you sleep with your you. we can certainly. question like why is the word keep place worth thirty years and have your living standards keep peace well below one percent . i think it's fine for me to be honest and produce a piece of our democracy that is it point to my disappearance. and death to take a few minutes from the occupy protest to go to our new york studio i just spoke to him and ask them what is beef is with fox since they're at least on the ground covering the movement. well no they're not because coverage would require truth
4:25 pm
and facts and sawsan is very much lacking i mean consider the fact that they basically hosted the tea party they're running several republican candidates for president that were previous employer. and they have their hosts talking about how we hate freedom and we're dangerous you know it really shows exactly where the republican party's priorities are when they're being concerned with america's it's attacking protesters instead of talking about job creation but the funny thing is they don't believe in job creation they believe in free markets they honestly think the government has no role at all creating jobs and therefore their argument is invalid entirely you know i think you're talking about that i want to go to a video that we have this is just of course in. segment on fox that was aired i'll play this and then we can talk about it. but i think what's trying them all together is who's behind this who's created it who's orchestrated it and that is certainly a coherent group that's the global socialist movement that see american socialist
4:26 pm
the american communist george soros groups like move on dot org they are certainly unified they're certainly coordinated and they have the behind writing these kids and aging hippies out there you can't make this stuff up they're passing out free condoms there's been open sex going on there drugs easy to score all right though the jesse this was a segment on the show hannity you have this woman talking about protesters like you basically being organized by through the left and communists and then you have hannity talking about these condoms and three things going on there what's up with that because when you don't have facts on your side you need to make things up and what thoughts does is the gauge and just total saucy none of that is true and i think it's what an intellectual lightweight does when you present the facts and then they do your into conversations of name calling and it's all ad hominum so it's they can have a rational discussion based on facts they call you names or dealing with
4:27 pm
a fourth grader so jesse you haven't seen massive orgies going on on the lawns around you. no but we did see james o'keefe who is an operative you smeared acorn on behalf of thoughts news he's actually violating his probation right now because we have videotape of him in new york and i really hold that he would be brought to justice and to occupy wall street is really i'm not against capitalism i'm against crime it's that simple maybe james knows he says. maybe james o'keefe has joined your cause right i did see those pictures that you're talking about. just a little bit more about this i mean i mean this is something i'm from hannity but i've seen it widely on fox news this is not just calling you guys hippies aging have babies whatever but the notion that there's a lot of law breaking going on right now in terms of public urination and public facts. this tell our viewers that you've got the truth i mean is this something
4:28 pm
that you're seeing that's going on knows anything the falsity is very strong with these ones what they're trying to do is lead our movement these time economic justice there is millions of working class people everywhere who just don't want to listen to these all the guards anymore they're asking us to share in a second place for a disaster that we did not create and they're using these smears as the slow actions of the fact that they're so tied to it by wall street they might as well be in the three legged race i want to switch gears now and talk sort of about the protesters protesters like yourself and the message that's being conveyed on to fox news and one of the major criticisms is that the protest is lacking is a sort of unified message i got to talk about this in terms of the need and the desire to get your message across and the lack of something clear and concise that you know can fit into soundbites. well i think the american is really feeling its message i mean we march up and down the streets chanting and the war tax the rich
4:29 pm
that's a war and your deficits and i see the cameras there all the time and know their microphones i really wish they would do the service that they were supposed to do by and for the people based on facts instead of making us to the silliness and the war tax the rich both seem like pretty short and simple math or just who it was aimed at because i know of another sort of spin the point on right now we can media machine is that you should be aiming your grievance there's. simply our president obama and it's funny because a lot of people later going president on it and i don't hold him blameless i have a lot of thoughts that i would love to share of people about what i think personally could do better i think the president is responsible for the governance of the economy but i think it's irresponsible of those who distract from him when they vote against his jobs bill when they sold us for every single thing he does and then they turn around and blame him you know like almost looks like their goal from day one was to make sure that nothing happened so they can blame it.
