let's go back now to tell the young show from oh washington studios. it's time for show and tell on tonight's program now last time we spoke to anthony rendez about an idea that some economists are floating around suggesting a massive debt relief for the people is the only way that americans get out of this mess the economic situation so should taxpayers be bailed out in their debts just like the government bailed out the banks is going to produce it with reason to send you to find out what you have to say. how would you like to have all your dad go away just like that your mortgage could disappear like magic. that's what some of condiments argue would help this economy moving again and a lot of people would love to agree after all the government bailed out the banks why not the american people well you'd be surprised what some of our viewers had to say arthur told us the government should focus on getting its own finances in order
11:32 pm
first vote for bailing out banks or taxpayers your one imaginary friend said i don't think taxpayers should be forgiven for their debts. sixty six told us the debt i took on is my own responsibility wow you know it sounds like a lot of you who wrote and must still have good paying jobs put them there is make mad who believes banks remove obscene fees for every transaction allow affordable refinancing for mortgages and for give penalties and interest on loans it would be a good start even though the majority of our viewers did not think that americans home debt should be forgiven it highlights an interesting contradiction i mean the federal government gets to live beyond its means with little or no consequences well every day americans suffering under crippling debt and high unemployment are allowed to simply drown there is definitely something wrong with that picture. now as always we thank you for your responses and here's our next question for you at home earlier in the show we just spoke to journalist david sirota about the washington disconnect with the occupy wall street movement so what do you think
11:33 pm
should elected officials and politicians. indorse the occupy wall street protests they just stay out of it you can respond with on facebook twitter and you tube and who knows your response just might make it on air. now talk about cell phone privacy and the latest civil liberties battleground issue to be decided in the state of california see currently for persons pulled over at a traffic stop or taken into custody anything that they're carrying on their person is able to be searched by law enforcement dollars wasn't such a huge issue until mobile devices became popular giving police the ability to search through everything on a person's cell phone or tablet as part of their routine search meaning without a warrant so that means that contacts text messages phone location data pictures all of it is fair game and it's a troubling trend i discussed with ryan rattie a back in january any time you were arrested by police for any reason which could include the parking tickets try to get a seatbelt or reckless driving the police could take your phone arrest you and once
11:34 pm
you're in custody under arrest behind bars they can spend hours trying to search your phone anything they find can be used to get to court to use for a short warrant. now earlier this year the california state supreme court upheld the right of law enforcement to search the mobile devices but a state legislature clearly saw the lack of constitutionality and they decided to do something about it so they passed s.b. nine fourteen a bill that would require police to get a warrant before they go through an arrested person's mobile device and despite our plea to governor brown to sign that legislation last sunday brown decided to veto the bill and appease law enforcement instead of siding with privacy and wired reported back in september the governor was leaning that way on s.b. nine fourteen thanks in part to one hundred thousand dollars in efforts by law enforcement lobbyist to encourage him to veto and here's the real kicker to brown's veto he said of the issue is too complicated for him to make a decision on so he thought it best to leave to the courts which already ruled five to two in favor of warrantless cellphone searches now for giving for asking but
11:35 pm
what's too complicated to decide here constitutional protection versus appeasing the cops governor brown has clearly sided with the cops here and critics have already spoken out against brown vetoes or in care well known fourth amendment advocate so the government should have sided with the legislature and i'm going to bet that civil libertarians are going to remember this move when brown gears up for reelection but the way i see it governor brown made his stance very clear he's going to side with law enforcement and potential campaign donations over the constitution just like the rest of them. now today the justice department announced that an alleged plot to assassinate the saudi ambassador to the united states with help from a purported member of a mexican drug cartel had been foiled calling it an international murder for hire scheme u.s. attorney general eric holder said the two accused are agents of the iranian government at the u.s. would hold iran accountable and in fact the white house state department and treasury department are all involved in developing new measures against the iranian government although they haven't specified what those made the the two men are
11:36 pm
months or are bobsy are fifty six year old u.s. citizen who also holds an iranian passport angle i'm sure you have already ses of force member now holder said that a sting operation began in may the president was informed of it in june of this year and that the mexican government had aided in the months long investigation f.b.i. director robert mueller so that this case illustrates that we live in a world where borders and boundaries are increasingly irrelevant but it's not really the case and how long before we start hearing the bomb around crown a bomb iran crowd chime in here join me to discuss it is jack rice former cia officer and criminal defense attorney jack i want to thank you for joining us tonight and i'm just wondering what your initial reaction was when you heard the story because robert mueller the f.b.i. director said that it reads like a hollywood script and if you think about it it really does you have the iranians working with the mexican drug cartels to carry out you know a bomb plot here on u.s. soil that has to do with their mortal enemy the saudi arabians. you could make the stuff up. yeah it's very good for it we're concerned about this issue for obvious
11:37 pm
reasons you can go back and the iranians about longstanding connections with terrorist organizations around the world we absolutely have established that and so that's one reason we have to be careful on this and yet at the same time this does sound very almost like movie plot light and we have to sit down and consider maybe it wasn't the iranians there's always forms of false flag operations that could be actually conducted by other countries who are out there who may have one to blame the iranians right now so that may be one of the issues i just think we need very very careful here. or you know clearly the details are still coming out on this because they just broke this news a couple of hours ago today and i think that we're going to find out more as it goes along it could very well be real and it could be great that they just foiled the terrorist plot but if you think about iran and what their possible intentions might be why would they want to carry out an attack on u.s. soil. the logic seems to be this and this is what we're really hearing out of the
11:38 pm
the attorney general's office out of the bureau is that there is a long standing in a mostly between the iranians on one side and so on the other and i think the logic behind this is with so many others being toppled in the middle east of course we could talk libya we could talk about egypt that potentially the idea if the saudi ambassador to the united states were assessing and in some of this might cause instability in saudi arabia that seems to be the argument but the problem with that logic is that it still does really a stare which how this benefits iran is see that's the only problem all of these arguments don't really track with what we've seen the iranians have been more than willing to commit various operations around the world and they've absolutely done this but every time they have done this they have been very calculated and very cold about this but very calculated in terms of why they were doing it and it was for absolute you're running benefit at this point i'm having a hard time finding that absolute benefit that i've seen in past operations now
11:39 pm
could you even argue that this might be that her mental for iran because on one side you could say that the relationship between the u.s. and saudi arabia since the arab spring has happened has been deteriorating somewhat and sell now this might bring the two closer together again oh i think you're absolutely right you can go at the former national security adviser who came out just a couple of weeks ago to the u.s. chamber of commerce and talked about how our willingness to drop our support for the president mubarak of egypt and some of this is made this much more difficult for the americans and the region with all the rest of our friends including the saudi arabians and that makes it sort of interesting when you turn around and you look at your own zip zero this could actually make this harder for iran not easier for iran because now all of a sudden when you have the closing of the ranks between the americans and the saudis and just. degree even the very same this is the israelis because no of
11:40 pm
a sudden you see the iranians as the devil as the absolute in figo if you will soon hear of anyone that these people deserve to be hit you see that's the fear of the chatter that i'm hearing around the world right now is that what the iranians are concerned about and others are can also concerned about is a potential stroke by these leaks and that seems to be one of the things that's out there i'm not saying that they're necessarily connected but i am studying there are people out there wondering if there is a connection well now what we're hearing for now is that the state department the justice department the treasury department the white house they're all coming up with some type of response to iran attorney general eric holder said that today we have no idea about how do you think it's going to take for the bomb iran war hawks that we know so well that lindsey graham john mccain the john bolton the bill crystal's of the world to come out and say we have to bomb iran right now we've seen john bolton say it before last time when he said that israel only had eight
11:41 pm
days to do it. yeah i actually lose absolutely i think back to cover stations i've had with ambassador bolton about this and i remember him telling me the same thing that what it is that the israelis need to do with the americans needed to do was to either replace the leadership of iran or both of them so i'm not shocked if you're going to see a whole series of groups out there now saying now it's time to take out the iranians again taking me back to this question of well we didn't get it but it is really these and so that is a real concern now but i think what's really important is that what the euro needs to do what justice department really needs to do is if these guys in fact are responsible i think about this is a criminal defense attorney they're following prosecute them but they want to prosecute them in some sort of strange court to drop these guys in guantanamo i'm talking about prosecuting them in federal courts where you sit down and you have federal rules of evidence and you actually prove that these guys did this rather than some strange masquerade where we say well we know if we're the best country in
11:42 pm
the world if we're the strongest judicial system in the world to let stand up and prove it so i'd like to see that happen we'll see if it actually does well so far it does look like it's going that way and they are being charged in a federal court now lastly as happy as we all can be if indeed this plot was foiled i just want to read you a statement here that comes from attorney and now this is from pre the rara site he is the u.s. attorney in manhattan and he said we will not let other countries use our soil as their battleground that's just a little hypocritical for us to say. we like to use the. i mean you know sometimes in some of these responses clearly i understand that the out already is there or that the attorneys have to take a strong stance and that they have to make a point clear but sometimes maybe just don't say things when everyone else can point a finger and say you do the same thing but you know we're going to keep following
11:43 pm
the story and see what other details do come out in the meantime jack thanks so much for joining us tonight thank you. now still to come tonight the great g.o.p. flip flop or the struck again are coming up in tonight's poll time award and happy hour tonight hank williams jr new song bashing fox news and e.s.p.n. is out plus and coulter is mad and threaten violence back and just might. lose.
11:44 pm
culture is that so much the same thing which of course he was on accomplice to call it what you will the major political tipping point or would stop with the music in respect to the occupy wall street demonstrations continue to. a very warm welcome to you this is your news today protesters on the. streets they have. ladies and gentlemen the chance to use it to get to the status of the human experiments. we
11:45 pm
see mr brown. trying to limit and it's all changed lenses financial templates. to maintain all competence in markets and you don't want to be seen trade imbalances research cheap emissions close to collapsing your supply blown to close. to fail aaa but again the level i think is the us crash. ceiling. just like the tsunami in st the i.m.f. spokespeople just programs increase the total economy.
11:46 pm
i deciphered tonight's tool time award and tonight it goes to mitt romney the g.o.p. presidential front runner is trying to have a both ways when it comes to occupy wall street last week he was asked about the protests that began on september seventeenth and he said quote i think it's dangerous this is class warfare but after seeing the protests grow over the last
11:47 pm
few weeks spread to more cities across the u.s. it appears the mid thinks this might be a movement they should support now. i don't worry about the top one percent i don't stood up nights worrying about gee we need to help them i don't think a puppet i'm not worried about that they're doing just fine by themselves i worry about the ninety nine percent in america i want to america once again to be the best place in the world to be middle class i want to have a strong and vibrant and and and prosperous middle class and so i look at what's happening on wall street and my own view is boy i understand how those people feel i believe that mitt romney just endorsed the occupy wall street protesters just days after calling that dangerous class warfare so looks like we have yet another mitt romney flip flop on our hands you know mitt romney is a walking contradiction how it changes mine depending on the latest poll numbers from health care to abortion the second amendment education mitt's had various opinions on every single one of those subjects and texas governor rick perry tried
11:48 pm
to make the case in the last debate mitt romney was a serial flip flopper but well unfortunately he kind of blew that one. is it the mitt romney that was on the side of against the second amendment before he was for the second amendment was it was before he was before the social programs from the standpoint of he was for standing up for roe versus wade before he was against verse roe versus wade he was for race to the top he's. for obama care and now he's against it. gazans are but every chance we get we do have to play about a big blunder and we will just make other makes me laugh every single time but back to mitt romney his latest flip flop on why wall street just gives republicans another reason to be suspicious of it he's fake seems a good reason to do anything say anything to get elected and last month we told you about him trying to change his image romney's trying to be the every day man now
11:49 pm
he's flying on southwest airlines eating at fast food joints while on the road and he's making sure that everybody knows about it on twitter and just for good measure we're going to play a clip of romney promising a campaign free of pandering for votes just two weeks ago i think the american people recognize that we're part of crisis and they want to hear the truth and they can tell when people are being phony and are and are pandering to an audience and you'll see that in politics you're not going to see that my campaign. but once again we are here having to call mitt for pandering to a new audience the occupy wall street crowd and that's why we're giving that romney tonight's tool time award and if the perry campaign is watching feel free to use our latest tools i word of romney in her next attack ad but be careful rick because we're not big fans of you either.
11:50 pm
hi guys time for happy hour and joining me tonight is our team producer jenny churchill and alex sites while assistant editor for think progress dot org thanks for joining me as we have a lot of angry angry conservatives today and we're going to start off with ann coulter take a look. it's always unfair to do that and it was some generals who scattered about the military well first of all i. should have pardoned. chris wallace for saying that when he came on in the second half of the program i'm sick of people comparing you know it's very different. so she's really really pissed because yesterday we were talking about the fact that rick santorum was written or he was read a quote as to how he felt about gays serving in the military and it turns out that was about segregation from decades ago and so now he just wants to punch chris
11:51 pm
wallace for doing his job and maybe asking a good question every now and then i think she should stab him with one of her high heels. i don't think i would really put that poster she seems like a violent one to me yes she would play for sure is what she could use her along with flash to go after chris wallace but i mean this whole thing is ridiculous she's taking the side of rick santorum who's saying that you know being gay is a choice is about is a behavioral issue and therefore unlike race and she's become this like weird conservative gay rights hero she's. on our air it's the weirdest thing and here she is like wanting to beat up chris wallace because he asked my question and let's be clear here she's saying that the difference is that you know you can tell that a black person is black by looking at them but you can't tell that a gay person is gay by looking at them that it's behavioral i mean that's absolutely ridiculous because our clients debatable depending on the barclays in the rain the racial arguments back in the day were that not that black people skin
11:52 pm
was different it was that they acted different because they were different and in the birth of a nation it showed a man attacking a white woman because he was craved crazed for sex and had to rape her i mean it's just it's ridiculous because then santorum went on to say oh k.'s are going to be showering with normal people and it's the same thing they won't be able to resist their urges to get out of the going to make the soap fall on the ground ok sorry. i don't mean to. actually about that i think maybe you should fight it out maybe. a little scared of a knee high boots i won't put you up for that one but maybe you know she's interested all i can arrange a little something on the street ok let's move on to the next person that's angry hank williams jr we've been discussing the story he went on and compared obama or said that playing golf with obama would be like gandhi playing golf with hitler then e.s.p.n. kicked him off and now he's really angry and so he's released a new song getting back at fox and you know who did i say wrong getting back and
11:53 pm
fox and and e.s.p.n. . but. you know about. don't tread on me i just love that i've got to be in every country song it's my favorite you know ok so when you go to change it's also a very popular country when we've had this discussion you know on one hand there are a lot of people to go out there and say a lot of crazy stuff all the time and hank williams thing was by far not the worst of it but i wouldn't really say that fox news twisted his words i mean they just played exactly what he said on camera yeah i mean they asked him what he thinks about president obama and he brought up the entire banner obama golfing incident
11:54 pm
entirely brought up there were there weren't you know there were two missing at all and he is clearly in repentant he apologized but this song is not a man who's sorry. i'm a little bothered by all of this because in the beginning i said you know it what he said was enough out of it it's ridiculous that he got tough monday night football however this song makes no sense to me he's now saying basically that fox had it out for him and i guess now we're not so they're not conservative enough for him i mean what what is he watching glenn beck's online thing like who's conservative enough for that i mean you know it's one thing to come out and get a zinger god said i'm not backing down but then when you start making a bad argument and twisting your own words and saying that someone else twisted your words even though you just said them directly on camera. kind of a lose lose for claims here and kind of a funny thing too he stole that song name from his daughter's song that she released two years ago keep the change and i well i mean i've heard of you are very
11:55 pm
popular song in fact that if i went to some country music was to see like how they thought about the song and just got abs. destroyed country dot com. it got half a star out of five and said it was more like a rough draft of somebody writing in their journal late at night it was free so he's not going to hear it what do you come to an article that expect crap keep the change sorry america. ok so let's move on to we have a couple occupy wall street stories today but the first one is this was a story on fox news and the headline was occupy wall street blasts banking industry but apologizes to its own bankers and so basically what happened is the protesters they received donations from people right this is how they buy by their food keep the rallies going in everything and so obviously you have to use banks to process your donations at some point the accounts it was frozen and so they thought that this was all a big conspiracy by the banks because they were getting scared to occupy wall
11:56 pm
street movement so they had to freeze the accounts and it turns out that wasn't actually had happened they were getting such a high volume of these donations that it actually just froze the account and so then they released an apology and like yeah did that make them look stupid and a little bit conspiratorial i would think so but at the same time see i'm really bothered by the people who are the total just partisan hacks here that think that this is some kind of in. and the was. that every they're not saying we don't think we should have big period you know they're not saying that we can't be using the banks are saying they're unhappy with the amount of influence of the banks have the fact that the executives at the banks are the ones that committed so many of the crimes that brought our economy down and never were held accountable for it and so i just kind of resent this type of twisting as if they're not allowed to use banks anymore because they're occupying wall street i don't know if you're with me here's . i mean to be like somebody you know fighting against government and getting a parking ticket in the main like you or me being for government i think anybody party could you know can't use anything of the government might ever provide yeah
11:57 pm
so today there was actually a new example of this it was a picture of a guy like and corporate evilness and he was holding. coke like a coca-cola and everyone's like oh my gosh she's supporting coca-cola while being against corporations gotcha no actually what do you want us to all like go live on a farm somewhere and not have any products of any type because the corporations are taking advantage of us that's not feasible we need to figure out a way to regulate them not be naked without food well that is the this is the problem do you know like i think if there is really a chance for this movement and for everybody to understand and get behind certain elements of it and then even just a little partisan people that can step beyond that are fine yet only a contradiction of the crazy straw man invention they have of what these guys actually are not like the actual people on the ground are really quickly i have like twenty seconds so let me just show you the occupy wall street condoms that condominium condom store has begun selling in new york and basically they say they're selling them at a seventy percent discount to demonstrate their support for social change the word
11:58 pm
the pursuit of virtuous pursuit of equality for all and they don't want to look like they're totally profiteering off and eye wall street movement but this is really fun since apparently they're just hippies have sex all they know they have their own their own condoms their ego i got to wrap it up because that's their that went in there thanks for joining me tonight. are you guys that's it for tonight's show thanks for tuning in and make sure they come back tomorrow and experience to be back on the program in the meantime don't forget because fans a lot of show on facebook and follow us on twitter and if you missed any of tonight's show or any other night you know you catch the you tube dot com flash the lower show will find the interview as well as the show in its entirety next. game. he was trying to store. data. from the truck still a tree. up on the radio we have the search glocks around the. law
