it's a movement continuing to sweep through the country and the newest city on the left denver where police violently arrested protesters in the middle of the night but no matter what roadblocks show up in their streets protesters don't seem to be backing down anytime soon we'll have the latest on the growing movement fighting to clean up america's mess. and the protesters want you to read all about it and not from those corporate owned newspapers so they're pressing buttons on their own to get the truth of the movement out this with the occupied wall street journal. and it's not just the u.s.

catching on to the occupy wall street story the movement going global from canada to the u.k. and even asia we'll have a report from the ground in india on those standing in solidarity with american protesters. it's friday october fourteenth four pm in washington d.c. i'm christine you're watching r.t. well let's go to the latest in the occupy wall street movement really taking over this country with occupations now in dozens of cities nationwide on this friday day twenty eight of occupy wall street. here's a look this morning at zuccotti park in lower manhattan as i don't see every day thousands of people standing their ground earlier they were fighting eviction from the park since new york mayor michael bloomberg originally said they'd have to leave for cleaning and told them they would be able to return but they wouldn't be

able to bring their tents or their tarps some protesters clean the park themselves and the mayor let them stay but also in new york a video that is going viral right now. this is the video of a new york police officer apparently the really running over an occupy wall street protester not sure of all the details here but these pictures are certainly being seen by a whole lot of people to read some anger as well. now on to seattle where ten people were arrested last night police also took down a so-called tent where an occupier was staying but has since got down saying those seattle protesters will be able to stay indefinitely. that was not the case in denver colorado where peaceful or not part protesters have

been staying in what was cleared by state and local police at three o'clock this morning for all we understand police set up a large perimeter around that park moved in slowly and cleared everybody out in some cases dragging people by the arms even carrying them to nearby tractors and driving them away tents were torn down and more than twenty people there arrested so much as the new york times have to say about this well the front page today that discontent simmers in a market as you gone does economy standers uganda really. well we here at r.t. we're going to focus on what's going on here in the united states back to denver some local news stations initially called it the end of the occupy denver saying it's over protesters however say that is not the case at all i want to talk about this and some of the larger implications and to help me do that i'm joined by harrison schulz protester and team member of the occupy wall street p.r.

team he is in our new york studio and there harrison i got to start by asking this uganda i mean this is on the front page of the new york times today do you think that uganda is the economy should be front page news especially considering what you're taking part in i guess this is a butterfly flaps its wings in hong kong it creates a world you know. here in new york so i guess it could be important. answers with you know i think if we got to by wall street's more important issue right now especially since it's going on literally in the backyard of the printing presses of the new york times. i know that. you has and you just gave it interview with fox news. how did i go for you. it was pretty much what i was expected i mean they set a lot of traps for me they pretended to be really polite but you know there's there's really a lot of hostility there. they ask

a lot of questions that. if you answer it would mean your sensually agreeing to a false promise they did they always ask a stupid throwaway question if you answered you it would automatically assume that you have that you're agreeing with some larger premises it's in near a linguistic programming surekha i believe actually. there's tricks didn't work i mean it was fun it will keep it up i guess i know you've been down there certainly in the thick of things. you know in new york on wall street in zuccotti park but i want to get your take not sure if you heard about or saw what's been going on in denver police overnight there. clear in the park that those protesters are saying and police see this as a victory i'm wondering what you think the effect of this will be if you think more efforts like this you know officers literally surrounding the park and moving in slowly you think this will be happening more around the country i hope not and i think the most important thing to say about that the most important statement to

make about them is that i honestly haven't heard any news from denver up until now up until this very interview and so i you know on behalf of occupy wall street i would very much like to thank you or network for covering us and for for beating a lot of the other networks to the story and actually educating me because this is what media is supposed to be doing absolutely thoroughly has been down there since day one and we're now on day twenty eight so we see this as important to me about i know you guys had kind of a what a lot of people called a victory this morning being able to stay in zuccotti park want to know about what's planned for this weekend i understand there's a rally planned for times square is that right. yes that's that's that's correct what's on the agenda what's on the agenda what can we expect this weekend i don't know every weekend. has been another mass spectacle of some sort of ever since this

began so i'm along for the ride with with all of you at this point i'll be there i'm looking forward to it but i honestly don't know what to expect certainly for those of our viewers who don't remember i believe that i was seventeen the first day was a saturday of occupy wall street i know it was one of the saturdays is when we saw those seven hundred protesters sort of if we talk to many of them they think sort of corralled on to the brooklyn bridge once they got there or rusted to seven hundred people arrested by police we certainly saw a lot of those pepper spray incidents happen tomorrow of moore's those the week before ray ray tomorrow of course the. protests like this all around the world have you been watching harrison this is global stream going on. of what you guys are doing and what's been going on i know it's there and i definitely intend to check it out but i harness it in running around like just try to take care of things here so much that i haven't really had

a chance to check it out when you say take care of it what do you busy doing. i'm busy trying to stay stay informed just try to stay down the square as much as possible i do analytics on occupy wall street org go through as many marches as a possibly can i go every morning to try to take a headcount mansouri e-mails and talking to the press and taking phone calls all day and they do whatever i can to help out the movement and certainly in addition to your jobs with the movement you are marketing analyst harrison you've assisted investment bankers in the past as part of your employer may or you're wearing a tie right now you certainly don't look like the hippies that a lot of the other mainstream media say is what this movement is made up of when you get your take on what you see as future achievements what will you consider successes as this movement continues i'd say the movements are already a success to get back to your earlier point about being a marketing analyst and involved with this movement yes this movie does bridge

a lot of class foundries and there are a lot of people down at this movement who hold down full time jobs i mean on a circle to sleep over night but show up on a regular basis every day day after day in order support those that are. i think the success of this warning has to do with the high turnout from the public the public support for this movement you know it's it's unclear at this point we're being you know to sort of part of the public and being a participant being a protester earns i heard that. in time magazine is that more than half the country is supporting occupy wall street and all of that half the country half that is like really supporting strongly supporting this movement yeah we saw that poll using them if the four percent support the movement they are taking part and i think that was compared to twenty seven percent who support the tea party and interesting. they're interested in just a little leisure this is a go ahead but i was going to say this is already

a success i mean this is already gone much farther than i ever personally expected to go and it's gone much further than a lot of my comrades and her expected to go and it's bigger than any of us at this point i mean the fact that this is spreading to canada and asia and other parts of the globe and it's incredible are i will go this is this is already a success and we do hope you keep us posted thanks again for making your way down to our new york studios harrison schultz protester and member of the p.r. team of occupy wall street thank you very much for having me. well quite a few small battles these protestors are fighting here one of which is the quest to get their message out certainly the mainstream media is catching on starting to devote some camera crews to cover it but one of the major ways the stories of protesters and their demands is getting out to the rest of the world is through their newspaper the occupied wall street journal r.t. correspondent honest on theater going to put together a report on this effort and has more from the big apple. every revolution has

a manifesto occupy wall street does not yet what they do have is the occupied wall street journal. attracting readers from all walks of life like bees to honey the newspaper documents the story of the occupation in the words of those out on the streets calling for change in the u.s. i think it's very very high care and nine. i think. it's a wonderful more bank and i think paraguay collide at their idea that it's offered by the people here as i figure it's probably the best source the people doesn't rely on advertising like most others now in decline seventy five thousand dollars in donations were reasonably when i started the project the. context of the revolution thoughtful articles and practical information on getting involved fillets pages people reading this on subways and parks on streets all the people people who are curious who have heard there's

a lot of noise being made at wall street what's this all about you need words that are in print that shock and make the reader think a volunteer runs the paper at a secret location among them managing editor michael levitan a former freelance reporter for newsweek the l a times and the associated press it was essential to get something in people's hands but they could pass share distribute and that sort of was attacked. a visual not body mind but a representation of what's happening at the square that isn't being told in the mainstream media the newspaper as well as the revolution were inspired by the arab spring this is for fundamentally an outgrowth of events that happened in north africa in the arab speaking world the seal two thousand and eleven has been an incredible year that peter's publisher i caused this if the mubarak regime can form this regime can feel good brant says the occupied wall street journal has electrified americans of

all ages and backgrounds. what most americans believe is not allowed on television they'll have the same commentators telling us the same issues over and over pointing fingers telling us who to hate and fear we need to provide something for the people all across the country that encourages them to directly participate this seems to have worked for troy who was once a law partner here for years ago that i would really like any for a hamburger mcdonalds and i can forget as well as for leadoff is going to come down to check it out it was going on so you could just sit there listening reading and see what what people here is fifty thousand copies of the first edition were gone within two days so for that one hundred thousand copies of the second from tens of thousands of issues to hundreds of thousands of occupied wall street journal has plans to go national in the days to come from an underground broadsheet but together in the big apple with source of news to be spread all across the us is this feature no r t you are. certainly

a major team effort here in creating our next guest is one who has contributed this to this in a major way helping to co-found this paper and this is our own group the head of the independent newspaper from what i understand that you have use your resources at the independent newspaper the printing press is the network of people there to contribute to this why are you doing what we felt that there need to be voices and stories coming out of the occupation itself that every day it was being represented and more important misrepresented by the mainstream media and so there needed to be some sort of way to get the information out to the general public what this was really about where the stories of some of the people who are in the square and what they want what are their ideas and we wanted it to be focused on the general public so it meant producing a high quality newspaper and so there are lots of people who are really involved in this but the independent did play

a key role. well in terms of bringing many of them together one of the latest sort of outcry is about occupy wall street in the last few days is the message according to the mainstream media the lack of message to me about how you are getting that across how you hope to be getting that across and what you have to say to those who say that these you know hippie protesters don't know what they want well it's simple there's no one good because there is no one problem for the global economic crisis and the reason this is successful it is a leader leaderless movement or it allows people to come in and express their own ideas their own opinions to have a feeling that they actually have democratic and gauge and so you have people coming in and saying like i don't have a job or i don't have a meaningful job or i came here to. college because i can't afford it or i'm coming out of college with huge debts and with no prospects i don't have access to health care i don't have housing my home has been foreclosed upon and all these problems

the people who are down there are saying this stems from wall street and i would largely agree that the problem of how wall street isn't shrine is there's some pillar of our economy is the cause of all these problems so for course there's going to be one demand several several demands out there i want to say here i want to talk to you about certainly we are in the midst of a political season tensions are high between political parties between ideals. we knew it would happen and it has. a different kind of messaging war that's being waged this one and put together by they're called the emergency committee for israel this is a republican group and the ad claims that the occupy wall street protests in lower manhattan is anti semitic i want you to take a look at that and i want talk about sure.

city. leaders turning a blind eye to the semitic is really. president obama and leader pelosi. what do you make of this well i've been that down at the occupy wall street park for almost three weeks straight and i have seen people i think who do the line but they pretty much come from the right wing these are they were. some of the people who were yelling about international banking conspiracy and they all have their signs and slogans coming from the right wing and sure you know there's been tens of thousands of people who have passed through as part of this this is

a broad swath of humanity you can always find if you crazies i've been covering the tea party for the last two years i can go to any tea party rally and find plenty of nuts but i don't think that they form the core of what the movement is about i think the tea party needs to be taken seriously just as the occupy wall street movement but it's not the point of this and i mean president obama and nancy pelosi basically to control the mom but what about this notion that people are trying to make you guys the people down there protesting just seen as a mom and. filled with hate well that this is right wing fear mongering fear mongering they excel at it. right wing politics that really based on exploiting group difference and then when you intersected with kind of this fanatical pro israel stance then you're going to get people who are trying to push this mass that it's i think it will fall flat on its face because it's simply not true and here's something we did speak to a protester down there young jewish man i want to play out his response to this ad

and these ideas. there is a variable presence here and so we are here part of our message is the product of a very jewish group of. british. soldiers you're welcome here yes that's certainly true and that's certainly true you know it's just like new york it's something like over twelve percent jewish there's a very strong tradition of love jewish activism and i mean the number of friends of mine who are jewish i mean it's not even worth commenting upon but there in the hundreds who i know personally who are down there it's just it's not an issue it's the right is kind of fabricated as an issue certainly now talk to me a little bit about i know tomorrow we are scheduled to see this potentially blow up in terms of size and strength in and around the world really fast and i were just talking about how every saturday you know people who do have jobs are coming down on saturday said there's so much bigger we saw those arrests on the brooklyn bridge

what do you expect to see this weekend and in the coming days well it's definitely growing every single day the fact that the city threatened to shut it down and then had to back off because of the cue just outcry against it has only helped it grow even more and now what we're seeing is that much of the rest of the world is responding of course the wall street protests are built on what has already happened with the arab spring and in europe but now it's ricocheting back in a very positive way and you are really seeing that there is a global ninety nine percent it's not just in the u.s. and that is also really i think one of the messages that is getting out very effectively that there's one percent of the population who controls all the wealth and power in the world are you are you saying you've been there for three weeks are you planning on you're in d.c. right now obviously planning on heading back there i know on an occupation tor going to be visiting occupations around the country and the next few weeks right i'm going go to head of the independent newspaper sharing his insights with us

well i did my wall street movement is no longer limited to this country of economic uncertainty and overall dissatisfaction with the status quo continuing to grow abroad as well people in canada the u.k. and even asia probably speaking up tomorrow has been marked as the day for protesters to unite for global change with protests expected in more than eighty countries as r.t. correspondent for history there shows us one stop in the global movement india. that energy that's happening in new york city and across the united states is definitely spread here to asia and actually the youth the youth movement here has mobilized on facebook and on twitter and they're planning an actual occupy taipei

soul hong kong by jakarta even if lama died so the movement in asia is growing there is a lot of support for a so here in india you know there and there are a lot of similarities between the goals and the mass ijaz of the people india and i did save here in india we saw a massive anti corruption movement here in india recently that was fronted by our now husband are a worth thousands of young people showed up to support his past against the government so many of those people are said to come out to this movement as well and many people compare that corruption movement here in india to the arab spring and now people are saying it's very it has very close ties to what's going on on occupy wall street so as i said very very close similarities there it's also important to note that this by india is growing the economy we talk about the

growing middle class here it has one of the youngest workforce is in the world people here are a little bit suspicious of these multinational companies these corporations that they're talking about over in the united states specifically american companies you see that happen a lot here just recently i went to hi there bob and met with some of the malice which is actually a growing movement here in india there against globalization and their main point is that while it gets economy might be growing the rich in india are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer and it's the foreign corporations that are really benefiting from india's young workforce and not india and that. that's a point that i think has really struck a chord with in any many people here in india and it's not just the maoists average indians have come out protesting against coca-cola for example for supposedly overusing water when there's been a water scarcity that i've reported on in much of this country we've seen monsanto

the american multinational seed company who many in this country believe has a huge monopoly on the seeds of the farmers need to grow their crops and then in addition you think about bhopal as an example pala the union carbide corporation company an american company was actually accused of killing thousands of indians in that gas tragedy back in one thousand nine hundred four so there are many many examples you look at all these huge not multinational companies including pasco that's trying to build a twelve billion dollars steel plant here in india and many militaries have been protesting that as saying that that steel plant is trying to take away their land so the occupy wall street movement is getting a lot of support here in asia and surprising support or might be actually china a new movement of leftists in china or socialist critics of the country's capital capitalist style economic reforms are also beginning to lend support to the occupy

wall street movement there even reporting that this is a quote unquote great revolution against capitalism around the world the activists have held protests in that cannot province according to some news websites however a lot in the mainstream seem to be ignoring these these protests despite the growing popularity since that region seems to have a lot of protests in the past and they have been in the past referred to as math incidents as opposed to mass protests but it's shaping up to be quite a weekend here in asia those protests that i mentioned in hyderabad mumbai to. carda are all thek to happen on saturday so i think people will be keeping a very close eye on what's happening in asia and there are very close links to feelings here with what's happening in new york as well that was our view correspondent preassure either reporting from india. well back in the u.s.
