missions for. the u.s. is raining down on this as president obama sends one hundred u.s. advisors and combat troops into uganda to assist in a rebel takedown but why now. and is the movement continuing to sweep through the country and the newest city on that list to experience police brutality is denver police violently arrested protesters in the middle of the night but no matter what roadblocks seem to show off in their streets protesters don't seem to be backing down anytime soon the latest on the growing movement fighting to clean up america's mass. and the protesters want you to read all about it another of those corporate owned newspapers pressing buttons

of their own to get the truth of the movement out this occupied wall street journal . what is the. goal. as a movement tries to shake things up and bring about change to the way wall street does business and who was trying to paint the protesters as anti semitic so is there some truth to this media blitz or is that all along. and it's not just the u.s. catching on the occupy wall street story movement going global from canada to the u.k. even asia we'll have a report from the ground in india on those standing in solidarity with american protesters. it's friday october fourteenth seven pm in washington d.c.

i'm christine for you are watching our team. well an announcement today by the white house that the u.s. will be sending one hundred a combat troops into central africa in the coming days will be tasked with training and advising forces battling the ugandan wards resistance army rebels those rebels are said to be among other things murderers and kidnappers and race rapists they also plan to remove the head of the army on the battlefield jos of kone we want to talk more about this and shed some light on what may be behind this to help me do that i'm joined now by robert naiman of just foreign policy. hey robert you know from what i understand it isn't these are military advisors as they're called they'll be headed to uganda south sudan the central african republic and congo leaders that have been in power though for decades these same leaders who are now going to fight why africa why now goodluck first of all this is a longstanding policy u.s. policy or opposition urging the lord's resistance army. and it is

we're hearing more of course the u.s. has got a lot of military conflicts going on the other places but in this case. it's not heard violating international law or it's not. troops into against the will or government operation carol. if it's the geese logoglu when we contradicting you as well because you have already existing your worst war. as the u.s. should come back or two systems or a new president are. better q speaker the right of it always been a policy of the us what about the timing why now. well the calling the queen is two things to clean the administration is the ones she appears to be correct but is this in the efforts of not sufficient so those that are easy to be

afghanistan it's got forty one thousand troops in iraq in the context of the u.s. military project this is a come in and. i would have you know i would rather see. chen interventions like this and see you know u.s. troops come out of iraq by december as was promised as in the agreement to see u.s. troops come out of there in a standby twenty fourteen or sooner as people all around the world are expected. so i wouldn't put it on the same play as the so their interactions with the u.s. you know involved in directly killing and we're it's very clear that you know people in iraq people in afghanistan don't want u.s. troops and i want to go i want to talk about something else going on on in some of

these countries around africa and that is major economic development on the part of china i'm wondering should we make any connection between what's going on with china its development projects and this new plan on the part of the obama administration well you know you think it always takes into account. of course you know what's going on in the region what its interests are and we saw for example you know in the case of the intervention in libya there was a long history struggle or where the seeds created this command for africa africa and then they couldn't be said anywhere in the region because it was so controversial and then after the intervention in libya the u.s. military officials were saying see this proves we need to keep the already in africa so we can always true that the military by.

oh think well it will actually intervene unless they have opportunities to intervene if he thinks that they're going to be successful and prove the crew to congress you know one of the military and show relations with countries so you should have a good relationship with us look how useful it is to have us for a course that are now robert de mint policy director of just foreign policy and let's get some latest now on the occupy wall street movement really taking over this country with occupations now in dozens of cities nationwide on this friday day twenty eight occupy wall street here's a look this morning as the economy park in lower manhattan so you don't see every day thousands of people standing their ground fighting in the action from the park since new york mayor michael bloomberg originally said they'd have to leave for

a cleaning of the park and told them now they could return but they just wouldn't be able to bring their tents and their tarps so instead protesters clean the parks themselves and the mayor let them stay and some tarps included and what also in new york a video that is going viral today. this is a video of new york police officer apparently running over an occupy wall street protester on his motorcycle we are unclear right now of the details but the pictures certainly are being seen by a whole lot of people and generating some anger. now on to seattle where ten people were arrested overnight police also took down a super tent were an occupier was staying we still have since backed down saying those protesters can stay there indefinitely not the case however in denver colorado where peaceful or not the park the protesters have been staying in was

cleared away by state and local police at three o'clock this morning from the we understand we set up a large perimeter around that park we didn't slowly and cleared everybody out in some cases even dragging people out of my their arms carrying them to nearby tractors and driving them away tents were apparently torn down and more than twenty people arrested. so local news stations initially called it the end of occupy denver many protesters there say that is not the case at all i do want to talk about all of this and some of the larger implications don't we do that earlier i spoke to harrison schultz a protester in new york and also part of the occupy wall street p.r. team so having just done an interview on fox news right before you came on with us it's not an outlet necessarily known for being so friendly to occupy wall street i was curious to how it went so i asked him and here's what he had to say. it was pretty much what i was expected i mean they set a lot of traps for me they pretended to be really polite but you know there's

there's really a lot of hostility there. they ask a lot of questions that. if you answer it would mean your sensually agreeing to a false promise that they always ask a stupid throwaway question if you answered you it would automatically assume that you have that you're agreeing with some larger promise nearly with the programming trick i believe actually. didn't work i mean it was fun it will get good keep but i guess i know you've been down there certainly in the thick of things. you know in new york on wall street in zuccotti park but i want to get your take not sure if you heard about your son what's been going on in denver a police over night there. clear in the park that those protesters are saying in police see this as a victory i'm wondering what you think the effect of this will be if you think more efforts like this you know officers literally surrounding the park and moving in slowly you think this will be happening more around the country. i hope not and i

think the most important thing to say about that the most important statement to make about. i honestly haven't heard any news from dunder up until now up until this very interview and so i you know on behalf of occupy wall street i'd very much like to thank you or network for covering us and for for beating a lot of the other networks to the story and actually educating me because this is what media is supposed to be doing absolutely he certainly has been down there since day one and we're now on day twenty eight so we see this as important to me about i know you guys had kind of a what a lot of people called a victory this morning being able to stay at zuccotti park want to know about what's planned for this week and i understand there's a rally planned for times square is that right. yes that's that's that's correct what's what's on the agenda what's on the agenda what can we expect this weekend. i don't know every weekend. has been another mass spectacle of some sort ever since

this began so how long for the rug with with all of you at this point i'll be there . i'm looking forward to it but i honestly don't know what to expect certainly for those of our viewers who don't remember i believe that i was seventeen the first day was a saturday of occupy wall street i know it was one of the saturdays is when we saw those seven hundred protesters sort of if we talked to many then they sort of corralled onto the brooklyn bridge once they got there arrested seven hundred people arrested by police we certainly saw a lot of those copper spray incidents happen tomorrow of more of those a week before tomorrow of course the. we're expecting protests life is all around the world have you been watching harrison this is global stream going on. of what you guys are doing and what's been going on. i know it's there and i definitely intend to check it out but honestly been running around like to try to take care of

things here so much that i haven't really had a chance to check it out whether you say take care of it what are you busy doing. i'm busy trying to see is to inform just try to stay down the square as much as possible i do analytics and i keep an eye wall street org go through as many marches as a possibly can i go every morning to try to take a headcount mansouri e-mails and talking to the press and taking phone calls all day. i do whatever i can to help out the movement yes this woman does bridge a lot of class boundaries and there are a lot of people down at this movement who hold down full time jobs i mean on a silver sleep overnight but show up on a regular basis every day day after day in order to support those that are. i think the success of this morning has to do with the high turnout from the public the public support for this movement you know it's it's unclear at this point we're being you know the sort of part of the public and being a participant being a protester ends now as hairs insult a protester and three member of the p.r.

team of occupy what's. quite a few battles as protesters are fighting here one of which is the quest to get their message out certainly the mainstream media is catching on starting to devote camera crews to cover it but one of the major ways the stories of the protesters and their demands are getting out to the rest of the world really is through their newspaper the occupied street journal r.v. correspondent on a saturday a tour going to put together a report on this effort and has more from the big apple. every revolution has a manifesto occupy wall street does not yet what they do have is the occupied wall street journal. attracting readers from all walks of life like bees to honey the newspaper documents the story of the occupation in the words of those out on the streets calling for change in the u.s. i think it's very good i carry on. i think. it's

a wonderful move mean can i think paraguay carolina where i hear it's offered by the people here so i figure it's probably the best source for people doesn't rely on advertising like most others now in decline seventy five thousand dollars in donations were reasonably keep an eye to start of the project the. context of the revolution thoughtful articles and practical information on getting involved fillets pages people reading this on subways and parks on streets or the people or people who are curious who have heard there's a lot of noise being made at wall street what's this all about the words that are in print that shock and make the reader think a volunteer group runs the paper at a secret location among them managing editor michael leavitt and a former freelance reporter for newsweek the l a times and the associated press it was essential to get something in people's hands but they could pass distribute and that sort of was attacked. a visual not body mind but

a representation of what's happening at the square it isn't being told in the mainstream media the newspaper as well as the revolution were inspired by the arab spring this is for fundamentally an outgrowth of events that happened in north africa in the arab speaking world the c o two thousand and eleven is most credible here the peters publisher i pose this but the bark regime can fall this regime can for good brands says the occupy wall street journal has electrified americans of all ages and back. grounds what most americans believe is not allowed on television we'll have the same commentators telling us the same issues over and over pointing fingers telling us who to hate and fear we need to provide something for the people all across the country that encourages them to directly participate this seems to have worked for troy who was once homeless a law partner here four years ago that i was really collecting pennies for a hamburger mcdonalds and i can't forget that as well as for lead off bank workers

just want to come in and check it out so it's going on so if you can just listening reading it seems like people here fifty thousand copies of the first edition were gone within two days so for that one hundred thousand copies of the second from tens of thousands of issues to hundreds of thousands of the occupy wall street journal has plans to go national in the days to come from an underground broadsheet put together in the big apple store for some use to be spread all across the west is the future in our teeth. as you can see just a major team effort here in creating us but one person i spoke to is somebody who contributed to this in a major way donating among other things his printing presses to help print a paper on the revolution earlier i spoke to a room gupta head of the independent newspaper he told me he chose why he chose to get involved with this movement. well we felt that there need to be voices and stories coming out of the occupation itself that every day was being represented

and more important misrepresented by the mainstream media and so there needed to be some sort of way to get the information out to the general public what this was really about whether the stories of some of the people who are in the square and what do they want what are their ideas and we wanted it to be focused on the general public so it meant producing a high quality newspaper and so there are lots of people who are really and involved in this but the independent did play a key role in terms of bringing many of them together and one of the latest sort of outcry about occupy wall street in the last few days is the message according to the mainstream media the lack of message on town to me about how you are getting that across i hope to be getting that across and what you have to say to say that these you know happy protesters don't know what they want well it's simple there's no one demand because there is no one problem from the global economic crisis and

the reason this is successful it is the leader of leaderless movement is as allows people to come in and express their own ideas their own opinions to have a feeling that they actually have democratic engagement so you have people coming in and saying like i don't have a job or i don't have a meaningful job or i can't get into college because i can't afford it or i'm coming out of college with huge debts and with no prospects i don't have access to health care i don't have housing my home has been foreclosed upon and all these problems the people who are down there are saying this stems from wall street and i would largely agree that that the problem of how wall street is enshrined as it is the center of our economy is the cause of all these problems of course there's not going to be one and several several demands out there i want to hear i want to talk to you about certainly we are in the midst of a political season tensions are high. between political parties between ideals. we knew it would happen and it has. a different kind of messaging war that's being

waged this one an ad put together by they're called the emergency committee for israel this is a republican group and the ad claims that the occupy wall street protests in lower manhattan is anti semitic i want you to take a look at that and i will talk about it sure what is the chance you get the occupy wall street. don't know all. the right by. the israelis that's. why our leaders turning a blind eye to the semitic and israel attacks you know president obama and the leader pelosi can stand. in american.

around what do you make of this well i've been that down at the occupy wall street park for almost three weeks straight and i have seen people i think who do credit line but they pretty much come from the right wing these are the glue show some of the ron paul types of people who are yelling about international banking conspiracy and they all have those signs and slogans coming from the right wing and sure you know there's been tens of thousands of people who through this part could this this is a broad swath of humanity you can always stop if you crazies i've been covering the tea party for the last two years i can go to any tea party rally and find plenty of nuts but i don't think that they form the core of what the movement is about i think the tea party needs are taken seriously just as the occupy wall street movement without supporting this and that i mean town president obama and nancy pelosi basically to control the law but what about this notion that people are trying to me. you guys the people down there protesting to seen as a mom an unruly mob filled with hate welded this is right wing fear margaret fear

mongering they excel at it they right wing politics are really based on exploiting group difference and then when you intersected with this fanatical pro israel stance then then you're going to get people who are trying to push this push this message i think it will fall flat on its face because it's simply not true and here is something we did speak to a protestor down there a young jewish man i want to play out his response to this ad and these ideas. there is a very well. you know we're here for our message. feel welcome here yes that's good that's certainly true you know it's just like new york has something like over twelve percent jewish there's a very strong tradition of let's jewish activism and i mean the number of friends of mine who are jewish i mean it's not even worth commenting upon but there are in

the hundreds who i know personally who are down there it's just it's not an issue it's the writers kind of fabricated as an issue certainly now trust me a little bit about i know tomorrow if we are scheduled to see this potentially blow out in terms of size and strength has been around the world really my last guest and i were just talking about how every saturday you know people who do have jobs are coming down on saturdays and so there's so much bigger we follow the rest on the brooklyn bridge what do you expect to see this weekend and in the coming days well it's definitely growing every single day the fact that the city threatened to shut it down and then had to back off because of the. outcry against it has only helped it grow even more and now what we're seeing is that much of the rest of the world is responding of course the wall street protests built on what has already happened with the arab spring and in europe but now it's ricocheting back in

united states and here in india we saw a massive anti-corruption movement here in india recently that was fronted by i know husband are a worth thousands of young people showed up to support his fast against the government so many of those people are said to come out to this movement as well and many people compared that corruption movement here in india to the arab spring and now people are saying it's a very it has very close ties to what's going on on occupy wall street so as i said very very close similarities there it's also important to note that this by india's growing economy we talk about the growing middle class here it has one of the youngest workforce is in the world people here are a little bit suspicious of these multinational companies the corporations that they're talking about over in the united states the sickly american companies you

see that happen a lot here just recently i went to hyderabad and met with some of the malice which is actually a growing movement here in india there against globalization and their main point is that while i guess economy might be growing the rich in india are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer and it's the foreign corporations that are really benefiting from india's young workforce and not india and that. that's a point that i think has really struck a chord with them and many people here in india and it's not just the maoists average indians have come out protesting against coca-cola for example for supposedly overusing water when there's been a lot of scarcity that i've reported on in much of this country we've seen monsanto the american multinational company who many in this country believe has a huge monopoly on the seeds of the farmers need to grow their crops and then in addition you think about bhopal as an example call the union carbide corporation

company or an american company was actually accused of killing thousands of indians in that gas tragedy back in one thousand nine hundred four so there are many many examples you look at all these huge not multinational companies including pasco that's trying to build a twelve billion dollars steel plant here in india and many villagers have been protesting that as saying that that steel plant is trying to take away their land so the occupy wall street movement is getting a lot of support here in asia and surprising support or might be actually china a new movement of leftists in china or socialist critics of the country's capital capitalist style economic reforms are also beginning to lend support to the occupy wall street movement and they're even reporting that this is a quote unquote great revolution against capitalism around the world so the activists have held protests in the province according to some news websites
