r.t. is coming to you live from moscow with me rory sushi welcome to the program the un sea wall street campaign that inspired mass protests all across the world this weekend is now into its fifth week with more demonstrations planned ahead despite hundreds of arrests in the u.s. and a tough response from police activity pledging to stay for as long as it takes to end what they see as a widening economic injustice. report from the heart of the movement in new york. well i'm here and see cody park which was the scene of a massive massive turnout of occupy wall street protesters over the weekend it was just one of the locations where protesters gather the stop and i'm president and a number of people rallied together to march to times square where they had urged to try to sort of in some memory shine and politics with some of the other events that were taking place across all part of the occupy wall street movements now
7:02 am
we've seen a lot of hands and office and why eighteen the new york city police department were out to speak protesters had instantly marched me to times square where the intentions of the people that i was a part of actually trapped by these barricades and they're held for several hours by me left and right to get out we saw these officers on horseback nearly drowned all of the number of protesters peace officers on scooters had a ran over some protesters there was a total of ninety two are rascals part of the occupy wall street gatherings over the weekend here in new york by witness a number of them in one instance when we were in times square a number of protesters were sitting peacefully they were taken by the these lambs violently onto the ground and again to prevent in a way we saw a number of protesters arrested by a little while the fortunes of time where we're trying to film what was going on
7:03 am
and just by saying that we are pressing the being here to cover the event because they have pushed us back on the fans they usually use up high tech strobe lights to lines the cameras that were unable to film and any serious visuals of what was actually going on which was unprecedented in my experience here to date meanwhile while these events were happening here in new york the protests continue to grow across the country here in the united states chicago there were several thousand protesters that had turned out about one hundred forty. not that far rested by these there is also arrests in denver and other parts of the structure all indicative of the fact it's been linked to mr crow how it's alex remains to be seen but we'll be bringing it for you here at our. company report right that well i one of the major grievances uniting protesters all across the u.s. is anger at the government putting corporate welfare above that of citizens but the
7:04 am
point is seems lost to much of america's mainstream media so activists are getting rather creative to get the point across that's not his gun h can explains. their discontent ceased. and graphic thousands of americans have resorted to banners and t. shirts to get their message across that a frustration with what they see is the government acting on behalf of big corporations rather than the people message which the protesters say their media failed to deliver the media feels like these kinds of events don't deserve coverage sometimes all you get when you do something this is a photograph and so it's very important for the message to be seen those symbols oftentimes handwritten messages that people carry on their chests have often been subject to mockery what is the sign that wall street broker that most of the five of our the people. that i would talk of what is that but it seems the only fault of
7:05 am
these people is presented in the american media is that they don't all have a degree in economics and finances and are not able to explain their grievances are professional economists terms various groups emboldened to cheer the end of the greatest system known to man and replace it with what who cares let's nap the protests on wall street or mindless and when you ask people and wall street what they want they don't know acts that took place over the last thirty years were guards to gnash. and yet within the system generally all of these things are very complicated and difficult for the general public to understand and people in the media and people on wall street like it that way because if you don't understand it then you know you don't get what happened but the american people know that they've gotten hosed they've lost their jobs they've seen them all short of china they've lost their houses they saw a huge run up in home prices that are collapsed and people are saying you know what
7:06 am
i know that i've got all this but i don't know how i got screwed but americans who took to the streets are looking to express themselves by means other than motivational p. shirts and banners which as graphic as they are hardly convey the full message of the movement the demonstrators are spreading their own paper now called occupy wall street journal which details what they're unhappy with and makes it clear that they're not rooting for one particular party it also works against quote political machines and their p.r. slick's taking control of the protest message one word to describe these ongoing protests from the beginning is frustration on their team sure it's on cardboard on the backs of pizza boxes as we've seen people express that prostration that is the movement grows the ways of getting their message across also mature and as people here say this paper is just the beginning i'm going to check our reporting from washington our to. one of the backlash now resonates well beyond america
7:07 am
and europe we have correspondents who have been gauging developments there for us all weekend long and. people in spain seem to approach these this movement away with their hearts and minds really into it and they prepared to stay for as long as it takes until they have their voice heard you can watch on the spot reports from major european just by heading over to our daughter. league members have decided not to suspend syria from the group but want urgent talks between the government and opposition forces the syrian president moved this weekend to the protesters key demand by promising to draft a new constitution within four months but that is not enough to appease or as artists are silly reports from inside syria. calls for change in the forms seven months. one of those calls is to create

a real pluralistic political system since nine hundred seventy two politics was only open to parties that acknowledged the supreme rule of the ruling baath party enjoy this coalition and others for bashar al assad issued a decree passing the multi-party law. for a czar assad al-deen this is the moment he has been waiting for a chance at a new voice to syrian politics. we're applying to become a political party so we can be more effective we can influence parliament access and help create laws defend our stamp says the new law allows parties that are open to all syrians regardless of ethnicity and religion and are not affiliated with organizations outside of syria but the newly formed internal opposition the national coordinator and council or else we see will not participate and it's not about us not wanting to participate it's about them not being serious about these reforms there's no environment for dialogue the violence must stop political
7:09 am
prisoners must be released even though they passed a multi-party law and will draw up a new constitution they do all that under their conditions and in recent deadly clashes in cities like understand and live the president appointed a committee to draft a new constitution within four months one sticking point is article eight which states a good bath party is the leader of the state and society the opposition argues this undermines the essence of multiple parties you know some some people in the in the party leadership have come to the conclusion that article eight and more dangerous articles in the constitution that article eight are going to be under review we shall have almost a new constitution where a new multi-party system will be achieved without any difficulties perhaps change is coming to syria but it's true. protests and violent clashes have been dragging on for months some valley it will not stop until bush on the side steps down so is

it simply too little too late. meetings like this comment on a daily basis from those in the national development party now they are in the final stages of the out with the process of becoming an official liberal party here in syria well after a decade of listening to promises of reform they now feel that this could be real let me set the thing for us are still you are to damascus syria. still to come here on the program bearing the brunt of the battle as the forces of the new libyan government try to corner the remaining khadafi loyalists and so we take a look at the resulting monetary crisis. the russian children are doomed to an early death the curable condition they share is treatable and controllable but just depending on where they live we're for just a few it's. a
