come to the join us on a trip to a magical. pesticides any more children can live without ever opening. the laws of physics no longer apply and we're big can always be bigger don't be afraid to take my hand and enjoy the ride on technology here. our guys it's time for show and tell us a night's program last time we told you about rick perry's brand new economic plan to give people an option to pay a flat tax rate of twenty percent but we want to know is a flat tax a good idea for the u.s. it's going to produce or patrice in a century to find out what you had to say presidential candidates are always looking for ways to promise voters lower taxes and rick perry well he's no
11:32 pm
exception and if he had it his way you will have your choice of paying under the current tax code or paying a flat tax of twenty percent easier not quite cheap or own maybe for some so is a lot of tax really a good idea for america will air a political set a flat tax is a good idea for the one percent the only ones in this country who apparently matter if he told us he likes the basic idea behind a flat tax but allowing us to choose what our taxes are paying for it may be a better idea katz said no because the top one percent should pay more and not just leave the burden on the rest of the u.s. robert bennett you agree he said that tax reform is needed but increases should fall on the wealthiest corporations but the majority who wrote in seemed to agree that some type of forum is needed look over there perry's plan would just add another layer on an already complicated system reduces taxes for high income

earners it's just not going to cut it. all right as always we appreciate your responses and here's our next question for you at home during the show we spoke about the violence at occupy oakland this week including police firing off a tear gas canister which left an iraq veteran critically wounded but yesterday after people expressed their outrage at the man situation the thousands came out on the streets the police backed down let us know you think do you think of this week represents a turning point for the occupy movement you can respond to us on facebook twitter and you. and you know as your response just might make it on air. what appears that hackers have or had a new target u.s. satellites say according to bloomberg news hackers have interfered with two u.s. satellites four times in recent years the lancet seven earth and terra am one were both targeted and both are used to observe the earth's climate terrain landsat seven earth observation satellite system was interfered with and october of two thousand and seven and july two thousand and eight for more than twelve minutes and
11:34 pm
the terror and one satellite experience the same issue for two minutes in june two thousand and eight and nine minutes in october of two thousand and eight but the question is who took control of the satellites well according to bloomberg a report due out next month by the economic and security review commission is going to come very close to pointing a finger at china the report is going to claim that methods used to hack the satellites are a menace and of methods the chinese have used before but per usual they won't outright accuse beijing of doing any wrong now the report says the people behind the hacking likely used an internet connection at a satellite station in spitsbergen norway to gain access to the ground stations information systems and once in they took control of the satellites but thankfully they didn't do anything once they were there but you can bet that the incident set off red flags here in washington these two incidents raise some serious questions for the u.s. government in their satellite security considering that the u.s. uses satellites for everything including military operations so yeah a takedown of u.s. satellites would be a really scary thing and something of the government should probably be working hard to protect themselves from but perhaps this news should be receiving more
11:35 pm
attention than say the bolton released by the top part of homeland security last week warning that anonymous may be interested in crippling critical infrastructure of course the mainstream media rushed report of the possible dangers of the hacktivist pose yet this threat. anonymous has targeted social injustice greed and wrongdoing by law enforcement here in the u.s. including going after wall street corruption. st louis is going to use to that the country was good can you sue that it was right for the taking and so you did you shouted the country and you connected the fragmented pieces to line your pockets we stand here united and strong for years tonight we stand before you. before your slow train did you think that the people would not come to know what you have done . arts that's not about us satellites they have attacked that not about us infrastructure hasn't happened yet either so the news that u.s.
11:36 pm
satellites have been hacked in recent years the think of the v.h.s. and other agencies share that paying attention to those threats not maybe going after anonymous call priorities something that the h.s. and the security seem to make of the lacking a little bit. now while average americans may be suffering and unable to find work in this economy the defense industry giants are making a killing here's how much some of the largest companies raked in in the third quarter of two thousand and eleven lockheed martin seven hundred million dollars boeing one point nine billion dollars and general dynamics six hundred and fifty two million but with the congressional supercommittee stuck in gridlock and the prospects of a trigger a fact coming closer to reality we're starting to hear some cries of despair take for example report put out this week on behalf of the aerospace industries association the report states that if defense cuts reach a trillion dollars one million jobs will be lost and not just that but it would quote devastate the economy and the defense industrial base and undermine the
11:37 pm
national security of our country sounds like they've been spending some time with defense secretary leon panetta who called the trigger effect a doomsday mechanism but let's say that the trigger does happen is that report anywhere near the truth or discusses these lawrence korb senior fellow at the center for american progress or and thanks so much for being here tonight nice to be with you what do you say i mean is this report on one hand if a trillion dollars were to be cut from defense yes that's a lot of money but the people that commission this report the aerospace industry it's also in their best interest to try and play up exactly how dramatic this would be so you know are they going a little overboard here and million jobs lost very very definitely because it depends on the logo but it's the other words when you say the defense budget what are you going to cut the defense budget for example doesn't have just production of new weapons you will you have people you have training you buy for example in the part of the defense budget fifteen billion dollars a year just by you know all the oil supplies so that's where virtually all the
11:38 pm
first place the other is if you did this whole thing you had she question the culture already been there you'd be back to two thousand and seven levels in real terms so i don't remember the call to be in better shape. very good two thousand and seven the other thing it misses is if you don't cut defense what do you call are you going to raise taxes more are you going to say infrastructure spending one thing we know for a fact for every dollar the federal government spends the least effective way to do to create jobs is to it's much more you get many more jobs with education for example what's that how come when it comes to the conversations that are going on the rhetoric right because we clearly have a republican majority right now who doesn't like governments anything government anything is that they say if the government can't create any jobs but apparently when it comes to government spending on the military they do see it as a job creator and it's just not as evil i mean how do you tell do you change that
11:39 pm
dialogue where the you know not very secure they're being inconsistent because that they say government spending government can't create jobs it's the private sector but in defense you know it doesn't count they'll use anything they can to keep the defense budget from going back to where it should be obviously the aerospace industries association as you pointed out they're making a lot of money there and talk about the fact that over the last decade the profits of skyrocket as a defense budget has gone up in real terms we're spending more on defense even control for play shit that any time since the end of world war two i mean and you know it was a huge war so it's historically high they're desperate because they know the hugo happy days are over again here and so they're using every yard because they feel well even if we can't justify the military turns people are concerned about jobs we'll play that card well it also sounds like they're being a little greedy right i mean is it necessarily that a million people are going to have to lose their jobs or is it that perhaps
11:40 pm
northrop grumman and boeing are going to are going to name a few you know hundreds of millions of dollars in less. money to keep teachers on the payroll that would be much bigger impact on the economy right now i'm also wondering you know this is something that big. right about the other day and he was talking about this military spending ferry and the way that people believe in it and so what if the president were to change some of his dialogue go the republican route and say that we need more spending on education because it's for the defense of our country that we need more spending on infrastructure because it's for the defense of our country we need more spending you know on student loans whatever you want to call it call everything defense or whatever it is i don't know if you are going to talk about the fact that so why spend how it got the highway system in this country of the state highway system want to call the national defense highway system or you have to the soviet union launch spot because we've got to get our kids with science and technology so you have federal aid to higher education see
11:41 pm
that's one where you can cause to divide because republicans even though they don't like government love the friends the democrats like government more so if you say well this is for defense and they both got agree on it when i worked at government i used to get called by state legislatures to go down and say you need to keep education go because it's good for the national security we need more people in the military we need to you know to go into defense so that's an argument that people use and as long as you understand what it is that's one thing but in reality it's not. should defense ever be or you know continue defense spending should it should the economy ever be an argument for that you should raise it on this report is talking about that word that we're all going to be vulnerable to a terrorist attack from the outside world it just says the economy is going to go into our i mean basically you want to see what the thread saw what role you want to play in the world and that's what you should decide you know person rise or how it must be turning over in his grave when he hears all this because when he was in office people hyped the soviet threat to try and increase defense spending and
11:42 pm
that's where he called it the military industrial complex and that's exactly what you're seeing now and they're playing on the fact that people are afraid with the unemployment numbers you know. now i want to also bring something else up to you and. something that spencer ackerman noted from the center for a new american security report and talking about this idea that perhaps building these massive weapons systems doing so much of the manufacturing here it's a dying art in america these think about it's also true and something that the defense industry needs to take into account that well these days we build you know f. thirty five joint strike fighters they're being built by many countries are you can send the manufacturing jobs overseas to china because young people these days are starting to go to google and facebook instead of necessarily going into aerospace world there's no doubt about the fact that the best of luck right you still go way to the streets also the fact that the financial industry is gold will. even if it's quote unquote an american car truck you're giving porch a wall over the world park
11:43 pm
a couple of years ago congress tried to stop that and the hero speech industries association lobbied against it. all right so what do you think is going to happen here is that the super committee is in gridlock right now they can't decide on a thing maybe three trillion dollars in cuts they had agreed on but then no new taxes it fell apart do you think that it's going to get to the point where this trigger a fact actually happens i know i don't i don't think you'll think so i think that they will call to work agreement about what you call it the my guess is that over the next ten years you'll want to cut the fence about five hundred billion total tell me no three fifty billion already but the agreement is based on whether or not they are going to raise taxes as well well that's correct but again i think in terms of the paul be about what all is said and done there will be about a five hundred billion dollars or fifty billion dollars a year old with the next ten years so when it's all said and done they're going to make sure to find a way to come up with a compromise that they don't have a full trillion dollars in fact doesn't support herself or to scare the french
11:44 pm
people lived through supporting you know you know more talks and of course now they're trying to scare florida thanks so much for being going to be with you. it's time for a quick break when we return we're going to look at the governor who wants guns allowed in the capitol building but no photography that it's time for happy hour drunk woman in a thong and speakers takes police officers for a ride and internet is an idea for a last minute costume from the prosecutor south. if
11:45 pm
. you eat. eat more news today. if these are the images the world has been seeing from the streets of canada. today.
11:46 pm
live. just say. please liz
11:47 pm
liz. liz . all right it's time for tonight's told an award and tonight it goes to wisconsin governor scott walker seasons taking office this year walker has been on a mission to impose his right wing agenda on the entire state he and fellow republican lawmakers pushed a bill through earlier this year that ended collective bargaining rights for public employees of course that set off
11:48 pm
a huge protest of the state capitol in madison and for weeks thousands that poured into the capitol building to voice their displeasure with walker and lawmakers out the height of the protests scott walker took a phone call from a person claiming to be one of the ultra conservative koch brothers turns out the thing was a prank but what we were thinking about the crowds was. planting some troublemakers. you know a. good beer would probably agree we thought about it after the anti-union bill passed democrats in the state went after walker and his republican friends five state senators were recalled and just this month democrats began a recall effort against scott walker himself so polls show that walk the polls show that wisconsin voters are split at the idea of recalling him but one thing is kind of clear he doesn't seem to be liked very much in his state the poll numbers are horrible and a public events he often gets heckled. it was. a
11:49 pm
. ouch sorry but let's fast forward to this week next tuesday was constance new concealed weapons law goes into effect but there's still the issue of allowing guns into the state capitol so media across the state began reporting today that scott walker's office will release its policy on concealed weapons tomorrow but it's being reported that he's going to give his blessing for residents to pack the capitol building now according to the milwaukee journal sentinel under the new policy the public would be allowed to carry concealed weapons in the assembly viewing galleries but existing rules barring the use of still and video camera would not be changed i mean really you can have guns but over toggery in the state capitol these are the moments the absolute just cracked me up i mean gun advocates clearly feel very passionate about being allowed to have their weapons because it's written in the constitution the most sacred document of the country but guess what
11:50 pm
freedom of speech is in there too and no photos in the state capitol kind of part of that amendment so scott walker's now endorsing a policy where your second amendment rights are more important in the state capitol than your first so next time scott save me the i'm a constitutional conservative it will you clearly that's not the case like many republicans in office scott walker just picks and chooses which parts of the constitution he sees worth defending and that's why we're giving him tonight's time award. ok guys it's time for happy hour and joining me this evening as our tea web writer andrew blake and that is money they heard on the hill reporter for roll call thanks for joining me. ok so. i really just love this video i think of us can let you show the video and then we'll talk about it but let's just say that this is one of those
11:51 pm
drunk driving car chase arrests where you're really thankful and there's actually video of the cop cars. well the officer stopped the car got out top is wearing only tennis shoes energy stream but dash cam rolling holdsworth was and cuffed and placed in a cruiser at least eighty became extremely combative and repeatedly kicked the cruiser back into. you know so that out of a place in ohio and apparently they reached speeds of one hundred twenty eight miles an hour while they were on this speech well she didn't have a lot of clothes kind of holding her back was very. good lie to her dr pants listen drunk it is deliberate and i mean driving pamphilus isn't it isn't a crime right just driving drunk isn't she was clearly very very very driving is it
11:52 pm
not a crime not to be clothed while driving i don't know if you don't remember you getting decent. but you are exposing yourself as you know unless people decide to like look down on your window so you've never driven. if you're going to be. you know i have not driven. sure i may have had some questionable outfits from time to time that's different colored you know like coming from the beach. i don't know i wasn't drunk going across ohio it's just boring like fifteen hours of your life. she was doing it the right way. there is nothing better to do than drive fans listen drunk and lies i don't know why she was so angry was she angry that she had to stop or was she just i do bad mood i want to know the backstory because maybe she was getting drunk at her boyfriend's house and that her boyfriend was being you know a jerk and so then she just had to storm out without her pants on because she had to get out of there never no one knows but i like the tennis shoes are the most
11:53 pm
apart surprising part of this whole scenario tennis shoes not stilettos i think. with the out or at least like flip flops or something tennis shoes you actually got to tie them so she can have time to do that could put some pants on our let's move . but there are so many possibilities here that i do like you know talking about it there is a massive turf war that's broken out in northern california santa cruz to be exact where i went to college over a starbucks take a look. to california motorcycle gangs are fighting what's being called the worst biker feud in years in years this is a turf war and it all started when the wagner goes tried to muscle in on the hells angels hang out that being a starbucks. now this story actually has some very sad elements like they're saying that this is the biggest. this is like the biggest eruption in the past ten years
11:54 pm
between these two by gangs at the moment the growing toll of casualties includes almost a dozen do. or wounded so they're getting but this is all you guys are like sir just like in general there's a war we're no in general the two gangs obviously don't like brother and so it's a war over who gets to hang out at this starbucks in santa cruz which let me just make one point and then let you guys go off on this i find so bizarre because santa cruz is a really small hippie town and it's like everyone goes to local coffee shops of all places why that's maybe they're bikers this is their way of being different if it's a local if you go to starve you. will see that i say about. ok but here's my this was the most disappointing part of this whole story i mean i'm very sad for all the people that have had diet etc etc but i thought bikers hung out of bars and they were really tough then but the starbucks my uncle hangs out at starbucks every day when you let me actually give you a quote from the deputy police chief who said only in santa cruz it was you have
11:55 pm
biker wars over who's going to control pumpkin spice lattes which really just makes the biker gang see. more lame like i said again why why starbucks of all places and i don't know it's honest no not really i wasn't paying attention when we played the clip but i got nothing but. here's one are you know a number of happy. so you buy the. ok and we can move on to the next story let me reintroduce our viewers really quickly to somebody who's program somebody that i think is a little crazy pastor terry jones. we believe it is our culture to stand up and say your opinion of course of course it is a radical thing to do but we believe that. and we believe. in the koran is that dangerous or really good. so this is the pastor who has never read
11:56 pm
the koran who wrote an entire book called islam is of the dead. well and then wanted to stage burn a koran day horrible idea and apparently he now is going to run for president great indeed great yes he and two hundred fifty five other people by the way did you see this list i didn't get to check out the whole thing but these lists are always expansive they're really granted i was waiting for someone to like break in because i was so normally i was there my vote a way to ralph nader and he didn't he didn't announce he was sort of this year and so i was like am i going to have to throw my vote away to ron paul like what am i going to now i get to draw my vote would someone else just. wait to hear you know know what else i'm going to vote for herman cain. you can't find somebody else on the two hundred thirty if you want to be a visionary in this year and see what the guy wants to burn korans is never read the koran but things that are going to be
11:57 pm
a bit of throwing it away and say you just want to throw why don't you just spoke for me write me and no you go no further celebrate my democracy by not caring and i would say you're a european but i wasn't born here so unfortunately i'm barred from this right by. give me a grade i would actually never want to be president i think it sounds like most miserable job on the planet personally it's just everybody hates you you can't do anything right it's horrible i could really quick so it's going to be hollow lean on monday but i'm assuming everybody's going out and doing the partying this weekend unless maybe you don't have a job that range on monday because you have anything. on tuesday so some people on the internet have a new idea if you don't have a cause do you go back and find that newsweek cover with michele bachmann crazy eyes cut it out and you have gods and you've got to ask and andrew apparently made once again i didn't really pay attention i just did you see eyes out you know i did this like five minutes ago i figured i was going to this whole happy hour segment
11:58 pm
today so this is what i got the you know phone and yappy up. well we may think the crazy eyes are now still her crazy eyes rather than your crazy i think he might have her beat on the crazy eyes really think these these are those lou i don't look at those but are you are saying i mean it's fair what are you going to be for all we know you can be michele bachmann i know i'm not going to be michele bachmann but for anybody that does not have a costume fairly that's an easy one on michele bachmann or to turn to you sure. it's got a lot of cleanup to do i think that's going to have the feel of this boy we're going to do anyway you got to do the right thing that's every night so thanks for tuning in make sure you come back tomorrow security and privacy researcher christoffersen going is going to be on the program to discuss how the increase in technology might be leading to a decrease in privacy between journalists and their sources in the meantime don't forget to become a fan of a lot of snow on facebook and follow us on twitter if you missed any it's nice
