and the green liberals are tilled into. the world's biggest economies need for g twenty summit where center stage is taken by the euro crisis now intensified by the greek decision to hold a bailout referendum. more than forty arrested in oakland california work clashes erupted between riot squad officers and i was treated protesters with some reports saying police are firing tear gas and rubber bullets. the moscow says it doubts victor believes the verdict is a fair one and will pursued a return to russia as it was for high businessmen guilty of arms trafficking after his arrest in thailand.

it's one pm in moscow i match reza good to have you with us here on r t our top story it's a shaky time for leaders of the world's twenty biggest economies were set to meet in a friend's euro zone trembling after greece's shock announcement that it's to hold a referendum on euro bailout plans are g.'s an eastern al gore's a slide in cannes for more hello and he says so what's going on in cannes and what's the mood there ahead of the summit. well leaders from the world's biggest economies have all gathered here in cannes are preparing for their main working session today which like you said is going to focus on bank euro crisis some of the world's emerging economies like russia brazil china maybe not so happy that it is sort of hijacked this summit but after that announcement from the greek prime minister that the country would in fact hold a referendum on whether or not to make cuts in order to receive the latest batch of bailouts that are being seriously pushed by france and germany yesterday on the eve
5:02 am
of this summit he was summoned by angela merkel and nicolas sarkozy they sat down with the i.m.f. and the european central bank and basically he was told that his decision was unilateral that the country can do what it wants but they won't receive any money until they make those cuts so really in other words you have to play by our rules or you have to get out of the club now of course it's no secret that the greek people are completely completely angered by what's happening and if that country does hold the referendum which we are now i know that it is meant to happen in december so that most people main portion of the population is most likely going to fight vote no and then also a recent statement a very very contradicting statement from what we heard from the greek prime minister basically defending his country's right to decide their fate in terms of the euro and whether or not stay in the euro zone from the country's finance
5:03 am
minister saying that the referendum sent a fax and the decision on whether or not to stay in the euro zone so this really is going to be a showdown between euro crisis some people call them the euro skeptics on the fate of greece and whether or not its people have the right to decide whether or not it stays in the euro zone some people of course say beggars can't be choosers so it's certainly going to be a lot of intense dialogue and focus on the euro and its crisis but then also the question of what about all the other issues that need to be discussed by these emerging economies. what is the scene. the leaders out there are able to do what they have the capacity to do in order to help resolve europe's financial crisis. but that's really the debate how much can be decided in a summit that's going to take place over a day and a half in terms of the euro and that that relates to all issues that these leaders are going to be discussing and to discuss with the g. twenty let's not forget that the g. twenty was created in order to expand the g eight when emerging economies like russia and the brics were saying well it's not fair that the g seven in the g eight

make all these decisions you got us into the financial crisis and the system needs to be changed that hasn't happened of course we're seeing all of these protests in the u.s. in europe not to mention of course the arab spring which many people thought would be discussed over these next three days it looks like that's not going to be the case but now people want their voices to be heard saying the same thing that the brics countries have been saying that massive remodelling of the global financial system that's to be done in order to provide stability for the entire world not just the world's richest countries all right i was a nice you know i live for us in the twenty summit thanks very much for that with. the hopes are running high among the eurozone leaders that fast developing economies including china could help the struggling walk beijing based correspondent shot in fans and says if china agrees to come to the rescue it could come with a hefty price for europe. listen china will likely be asking for some major

concessions one route for china's funding of the bailout fund would go through the i am not sure and i am not fines now that i am not historically has been dominated by the united states and european powers and it's evolving countries have long argued for greater voting power and more of a voice in the i.m.f. so it's possible that china would demand greater voting powers within the i.m.f. for having its money go through the i'm after the euro zone so that's one thing and not of course would diminish the the influence of western powers in that and that finds another thing that china may ask for is greater opportunities for foreign direct investment into europe and i that means sensually buying companies technology companies and so on and europe and in the last so if china decides to help out the euro zone in a crisis that china will use every bit of its leverage that it can right now china has all the money and as one analyst put it china is right now the banker to the world and china's influence is only such a grow and i think what we're seeing right now that you're seeing europe and in the
