russia has been finally granted accession to the world trade organization after almost twenty years of thorny negotiations the commission in geneva has finalized overall terms for the long awaited membership which will now happen in december artes nor smith has been there. there's a document in circulation which is the all the terms and conditions it weighs three and a half kilos and it amounts to some seven hundred pages now i haven't had time to read the whole thing and i doubt that i'm in the minority there but i can only imagine that it's full chockablock of painstakingly negotiated compromises which have taken place over that all that amount of time but in fact what the significance is is a question that the chief russian negotiator maksim says that he has been asked repeatedly over the last eighteen years what just what is the point of this and he pointed out during a media conference that took place of the gathering of the documents as they call
12:02 pm
it here he said that it is true that russia first deployed for membership back in one nine hundred ninety three when its economy was in pieces and over that period of time russia has rebuilt its economy without the help of the world trade organization so that it is now the sixth largest in the world but he said that despite that we russia now does ninety percent of its trade with members so membership of that organization is sort of a level playing field in terms of doing business it was still very important he talked also about the ups and downs of the negotiation process the draw in the comedy and he said that the most difficult moment moments had come when they were negotiating the natural gas terrorists and also the terrorists for the agricultural sector in russia but he says that now they've come to this agreement he's not fully satisfied with the deal but he says that it's an important geneva lesson to learn that if no one's really satisfied with the deal and that probably means that it's

fair for everybody he said he's also negotiated a reasonable period for making adjustments to tariffs in three and four years they will have to bring their tariffs in line with the rest of the world trade organization and the organization itself says that now one hundred fifty million russian consumers will be. i have access to cheaper prices for a whole range of goods but of course there are also disadvantages in this and my colleague your catarina gretsch over has taken a look for us at the pros and cons of membership for russia of the world's largest trading organization let's take a look at the report for the person on the street w t o membership will not be just something they'll read about in the news but it will mean lower prices removing trade barriers between states increases competition prices of in florida goods drop and domestic companies also grow quicker with foreign markets opening up. for workers of these metallurgical company it all looks like

a win win situation their most recent project is the north stream pipeline should they enter international markets they'll face very little competition. and this is ross city march the largest plant in russia's south producing harvested rushers. because food for months ahead and workers who conspired. but the head of the company has a rather different outlook to that of the w t o cheerleaders. our oil and gas will be in demand even without entering the well agriculture will tumble. agriculture will be among the hardest hit sectors but experts say the domestic automotive industry will be the one to undergo most step he will. the troubled mortgage giant of the vase was rescued from the brink of death in the economic crisis of two thousand and eight my promise to putin with more than one

billion dollars in loans cash and guarantees. that is the government's favorite child but not all car makers in russia are as cherished this used to be a thriving want of musk reach open the ninety. thirty its most successful years what the fifty's and sixty's when hundreds of thousands of my screech chorus flooded the soviet and foreign markets after the collapse of the soviet union my screech was in desperate need of money but the government could not afford to loss making copper juices and muskie choice cost out. the only way to avoid the collapse of yet another industrial giant experts say is to use the transition period after joining the w two wisely firstly entry to the w.t. doesn't mean you instantly have to drop all customs tires and comply straight away there's a transit so-called transition period roughly seven years or so protectionist

measures will apply for a number of sensitive industries which employ millions of people such as a group called timber and car making but at a certain point the state's industrial dependence will have to let go of its hands and walk on their own two feet in the world outside it but that should also be a somewhat easier place to do business in labor duction of customs tariffs and trade barriers to a more level playing field across international markets exceeding the grouch of r t . russia's interest into the world trade organization will eventually play into the hands of ordinary russians but a period of transition will not be easy that's the view of international affairs expert alex nice. as we come towards the end of the transition period there is going to there are going to be challenges for the ordinary ordinary russians firstly of course russian industry will be put under pressure and there were maybe problems particularly in towns which are dominated by
12:07 pm
a single industry which is the largest employer if others put on the pressure if they have to reduce employment or indeed if they go past than of course this will have serious implications for the people living there but at the same time it's to be hoped that the russian population will see greater variety of goods on the shelves and lower prices and draw benefits from a more competitive domestic economic environment. always eager to know your view of the story and today we're asking who will benefit most now that russia is to become a member of the world trade organization as we see how the numbers are stacking up at the moment what we see there that the majority still think they'll be no winners as the organization only adds to the big financial mess the world is already in front of. membership is actually good for russian as a boost its role in the global economy almost the same amount believe that moscow's accession will play into the w t o o's hands while the remainder think that russia will suffer because it will be unable to cope with competition cast your vote at

all dot com good to hear what you say. greece's announces next prime minister lucas papademos the former vice president of the european central bank will now take over the reins of the embattled country it follows four days of hectic talks between the outgoing pm george papandreou and the main opposition leaders on a new unity government incoming premier a staunch e.u. backer and his new administration are said to be sworn in on friday with the immediate tricky task of introducing more austerity in return for continued. bailouts little analyst peter errors told me a little earlier that he believes much of what the crisis is of belts is hidden from public view. we have to turn the clock back to the original collapse of the world economy because this was no accident it was a very well planned exercise and as we know ireland became a victim portugal and now greece and apparently spain and italy are likely to

follow it really doesn't matter who's in power there are people there to control in this situation and we also have to understand that there's massive. could we say massive corruption fraud taking place and tax evasion in most countries factually creating this problems remember that they can take out any country financially or militarily that they want. to take out their priorities are one to secure the world's natural resources the second one is to control the markets for those resources and thirdly to control the gateways to see the rains and the pipeline routes when you have control of this you've basically got the world in the palm of your hand it controls the finances of the world controls the world and this is what we're looking at here what's with the dawning realisation in the e.u. that greece may already be too far gone ati's max keiser and stacy herbert offer

their own uncensored view of the situation because a report is coming away at nineteen thirty g.m.t. but here's a quick preview for you. here's a fifty euro for all toilet currency all of your fifty euro toward a pro currency will soon be about as valuable as the star of the paper except this is all available nightly printed up in this beautiful display case that you can show in your house and tell your kids all about what happened in europe. because a report a little later here in r.t. israel may be preparing to strike iran as early as the end of december that's a warning reportedly voiced by some of the british intelligence services this comes after the latest report ramped up tension over iran's nuclear program by saying it cannot exclude tehran is working on nuclear weapons. is watching developments.
12:11 pm
according to british intelligence chiefs israel will launch a strike against iran to stop it from developing nuclear weapons as soon as christmas according to sources in the british government if not christmas then the beginning of next year with these sources saying that israeli military action is to be expected soon no water than later and that it will be action that will be supported in a just victory by the united states not in recent weeks we did hear from the british defense ministry they confirmed that they have contingency plans in place should the u.k. decide to support military action against iran yemen is row prior to the publication on tuesday of the report by the international atomic energy agency the israeli defense minister ehud barak warned iran of a possible israelis strike he said that all options are on the table and when israeli officials use that phrase all options on the table it really does mean military action the israeli president shimon peres has also gone on record saying
12:12 pm
that an israeli military strike is more likely than any kind of diplomatic solution we have had ever spawns from iran's supreme leader the ayatollah i mean for mommy who has warned both the united states and israel that if they strike iran they must expect a tough response from tehran he said and i'm quoting that we are not a nation to sit back and watch materialistic corrupted and rotten power was threatening iran we will respond with a strong slap and an iron fist he spoke about a graces and invaders being smashed from within not just yesterday wednesday the radian president mahmoud ahmadinejad's responding to that i am a report he slammed the report and he said that the rand would not step back one iota from developing its nuclear program he said that the report was relying on the basis of u.s. claims that you rand is building a nuclear bomb. russia's state atomic company russert on is considering building
12:13 pm
new power generating units for iran's bushehr nuclear plant this comes just after the latest report said it couldn't disprove iran is attempting to build atomic weapons well we spoke to the corporation spokes person the who said if the project does go ahead it will be on full display for the agency to observe. the first c. unit dolphin show nuclear power plant is a unique international project because so lots of countries including the us and countries are involved in to prevent patients of this project and all the job which was done by russian special use was done under the full control of i.a.e.a. so. forcible implementation of the possible construction of next units will be as well implemented under the full international control off united nations watch dog express it will be absolutely transparent for international society we

have great abyss make unusable for nuclear fuel supply where you say that we are ready to provide a new nuclear power plant to have nuclear fuel for all the lifetime of the subject and then be fuel fresh in origin spent fuel they are taken back so it means so that the international society can be absolutely sure that all the russian fissile material will be controlled by russian federation. have been growing calls in sweden for those responsible for taking the country into military action in libya to be held to account of all those that took part in enforcing the no fly zone sweden was the only one outside of nato all the arab league nations efforts in libya may have helped topple the dictator but they've left the country in ruins and with an estimated one million refugees christopher hill joins us now he's the coordinator of high crimes dot org and one of those calling for public prosecutions joining us live from there in denmark now there's been plenty of speculation behind the motives of why the likes of the u.s.
12:15 pm
france and italy were interested in regime change there in the book what was in it for sweden the country as i just said not even a nato member well it actually. now i'm quoting. research reports from serious to firms such as yours it's actually a member of what they call themselves the american empire and helpless so so this is just logical from the perspective well i understand you want to see those resistance and all of this than your trial but what about the argument that gadhafi deliberately targeted civilians whereas nato chiefs would argue that accidents do happen in war because i do understand you want to see people stand trial for crimes against humanity genocide and war of aggression well that's what's been taking place of this there's no doubt about it it's. so. but in what way.
12:16 pm
the people of libya by all accounts aust for nato intervention to help them take make sure that the regime change does take place so nato was merely doing what it was also the was not ok. no it's absolutely the contrary. i think the number of jihadists a number of thousand. nato understand the nato information when the war started and the. best and also let's not forget that libya was just number one in africa and possibly that out of all this well before before the war and this was an assessment made by the united nations well the international criminal court and the. sort of what has happened there's no carry on carry on there's a bit of a delay with the line here do carry on please. ok thank you. what
12:17 pm
happened what has happened is that the western interest has toppled the most successful country and africa. that's not really helping the syrian population. all right well interesting enough the international criminal law did announce last week that they may consider bringing charges against nato military chiefs that was announced not long ago how encouraged are you by that i personally. know see the i.c.c. smore like in the toolbox of. the american empire if you will. but i mean it's a step in the right direction i would all the see it is so i would rather see the swedish forces sorted out by the swedish courts court system but very well for the swedish forces but also you want to see the swedish government brought to account what sort of this public support are you getting for this they are not swiftly i mean you know what sort of public support are getting that. well it's tremendous
12:18 pm
it's a landslide. we started this site called high crimes dot org. the people joining up for this petition for this fall in these charges just tremendous . tremendous support but you actually achieve anything will the government be brought to count when you see people standing in the dock well that's a very good question a sort of push into focus why would really doing this. so libya has sort of history but religious history of water but there also a number of wars plan wars in the pipeline to make parliamentarian. in sweden hopefully in other places and countries well across europe aware of what will happen in libya so think twice before putting the us was for the next war and talk about what happened the history there in libya what has happened what about the
12:19 pm
future there just briefly many people will say that the people in libya will be better off after gadhafi is now gone after all. large majority of people did not enjoy the wealth that the minority did in fact the standard of living could have been a lot better by all accounts do you not think that libya is going to be a better place without gadhafi just briefly absolutely not it's now and. the hardest the. terrorists so i mean that's not a good place your hand over a counter with money and weapons to a terrorist organization that's basically what has happened in libya as far as i understand all right christopher we'll leave it there thanks very much indeed for your thoughts christopher held there two good nature of. that joining us live in denmark thanks for time. internet users have been left shocked after videos of alleged police brutality against student protests at the university of california emerge online clearly show officers didn't hesitate to use

mission in fifteen years back on track they've been trying to reestablish connection with approved which was launched on wednesday is due to head to the biggest margin moon phobos but technical problems mean it's become stuck in orbit artie's has the details. at the moment the theories around which probably a problem has caused the probe to be stuck in orbit around the earth after its takeoff split into two camps whether it's a problem with the software of the probe or a problem with the hardware of the probe now it's a problem with the software that's something that potentially can be fixed now one theory that's been put forward is that it's a problem with the navigation system of the probe these type of probes when they're launched initially use the sun as their main focus point for navigation and then that navigation system switches over towards the stars now they some people believe that this probe has failed in switching from the sun to the stars and if they can send a software patch and upload that to the probe it should be able to go about its mission
