couldn't overcome burns from electric shocks and cigarettes heavy bruising and renal failure all this evidence of the continued torture of prisoners say the doctors and now after two inmates died from beatings the international group has stopped its mission in protest patients were brought to us in the middle of interrogation for medical care in order to make them fit for further interrogation this is an acceptable our rule is to provide medical care to war casualties and sick detainees not to repeatedly treat the same patients between torture sessions the news comes amidst rising anger with libya's interim government demonstrations in benghazi last week ended with the resignation of a high ranking member of the m.t.c. in the former gadhafi stronghold of bani walid locals pushed out their terms you can also forces claim in systematic abuse it started with the very beginning of the rebellion very beginning of the insurrection the second day of the rebellion on

eighteenth of february the african migrants were rounded up locked in a detention center and burnt to death and the n.p.c. expressed support for this time and this is part of the strategy of the west you know divide and rule and that was given the green light of the torture and execution that we're seeing now so this is a clear recipe for civil war meanwhile the nato operation that brought them to see to power is by itself raising questions. a high profile international team of human rights activists has been to leave here to investigate some of the two that it bears entity of were with their evolution in the thrones. and there were guiding the air raids and they addicting them and court have been raping them if you are mandated. that you go to bed it is very

very accurate in a way that i myself saw the killing of so many people in front of me. i saw the killing go fifty one people in front of my eyes was fifteen years old and while all sides and believe in conflict are to play for violence and violations the human rights activists claim not all of them have been held responsible for their wrongdoings investigating what happened during libya's seven months civil war and the nato campaign to protect civilians this fact of mission discovered again crimes against humanity but the goal was not to judge but to shed light on what happened and not to repeat the mistakes recent united nations report has revealed that up to eight thousand supporters have been held by militia groups in libya right now and with numerous occasions of torture and revenge killings throughout the country
5:03 am
hopes of a new beginning for libya are fading quickly. r.t. . will be as post gadhafi government the national transitional council has so far failed to bring peace and stability to the country next hour here in our two peter the valid has gassed our cross talked about why the militias who overthrew the colonel are reluctant to obey their new leaders. who the hell is the n.p.c. who are these people after all these months it's still very opaque who are they. well known we know these are people who who who were privileged under the old regime and who decided they could be more privileged under a western style regime i mean you know this thing about wanting democracy well when i've seen it or you didn't hear it because there's just not here only us when i haven't even finished i haven't said anything in here interrupting me. i am staying
5:04 am
here. have you said. which are simply not true my problem is that my problem with the n.p.c. is that a lot of the. exiles that have come back and some of my actually lived in the suburbs of langley and that's my issue ok my issue is that these are western sahara gets us as a matter of fact one of the issues in libya is right now that when you talk to libyans they refer to the t.n.c. the transitional council as a government of foreigners and so i think you put your finger right on the these are not cronies of gadhafi as a matter of fact most of those people have been arranged out of the t.n.c. has broadened and i'm not into the we're going to. we're exiles and so in a sense that is part of the problem and why they are not legitimate is because they really have no standing in the country at this point. more angry protests have broken out in poland after the government gave its support

through the internet email jockeying for a form of self-expression this was yet another rally in a whole string of protests held in poland since tuesday large crowds in several cities voiced their anger at the government for signing the document most of the country's government websites were hijacked by the anonymous group they had threatened to reveal sensitive information about the authorities should they go ahead with the act there are certain countries which are very interested. this is you know this is of america this is job. and because they have strong businesses rely on it for property laws and they want to enforce it all over the world but this doesn't mean that this is good for the people and this is why would we have this protest in poland because people feel oppressed by that essentially actor is about protecting intellectual property from music and books to

pharmaceuticals and clothes similar in form to the stalled u.s. bill sober and people that also sparked widespread protests however critics say act it was engineered in complete secrecy bypassing government procedures and the criminal punishment it allows alerted many any legislation must be founded in the public opinion of what's right and wrong when you have a copyright industry that's talking about extraditing a person who has done nothing but linking to t.v. shows extradition does something useful murder and genocide this is such an abuse of power i think its time is more than ripe for a serious review of what we want with copyright law and it's certainly not calling out just terrorists. if you do this

embargo due to come into force in july to ron's lawmakers are set to debate the move already the subject of a draft bill on sunday what comes after the e.u. imposed sanctions in an attempt to force it to back to the negotiating table over its nuclear program iran's president mahmoud ahmadinejad says tehran is ready to return to talks but its opponents need to compromise inspectors from the un atomic watchdog are set to arrive in iran later in the week. from the campaign against sanctions and military intervention and iran says the country is acting to protect its sovereignty. the grace period that the vision for six months for does go to take place may actually not be that graceful so iran is taking matters into his own hands and the other issue is that it shows a complex city a feeling in the midst of politics and the power that the iranian parliament holds that is accountable to its people and it's not going to just sit back and watch
5:10 am
what's going to happen to the national. the wrong i mean it's not the most ideal situation because iran has to find different customers where it's all about at the same time iran is going to be to decrease is dependence on the petro dollar this is a very good thing in the long run this is actually going to lead to more independence for iran as a whole as a nation not just not just one part of the society which is investing in foreign businesses. while the u.s. and europe continue to hit iran was sanctions and strong rhetoric the suggestion of military action against the islamic republic leaves many americans cold hearted going to if you can is in the country's capital to gauge opinion. while the obama administration says war with iran is still on the table and washington hawks come up with even more sure statements we should brace iranian regime i think within a year the majority of americans may sense that their opposition to more wars which is reflected in all the recent polls is being ignored in washington residents of

charlottesville in virginia took the matter to their city council which passed the resolution calling on the federal government to end all its wars and avoid starting the new one with you ran the biggest threat right now is that we will get jackknifed into a war against iran which would be a disaster for the people of iran and for the people of charlottesville and the rest of our country david swanson is the co-author of the resolution adopted by the charlottesville city council. thank you lou. we'll as always been against wars unless pushed in dragged by very manipulative propaganda and they have been trying those who want war on iran have been trying unsuccessfully for years to get the american people on board i went out on the street to see how many people i would meet who want the u.s. to attack iran. do you think the u.s.
5:12 am
should attack iran no no not at all the last thing we should do though it's a terrible idea that one of the worst ideas i think i have heard a while yeah that would be horrible yeah because they're good guys but because. i think another war is just a a horrific idea but look on the republican side you've got certain ones over there who want to give just can't wait to get us in war that it really doesn't look good at all do you think the u.s. should attack iran yes just one out of more than a dozen into the house and it's not just people on the street but many experts in the security field warn against starting a war with iran including the former acting director of the cia people keep saying that the military option this is still on the table i think it would be a very bad option but the latter one to use one of the big problems with iran is that if you get into a. an open confrontation a military confrontation your risk a cycle of retaliation and response. with great difficulty seeing where the end
5:13 am
point is the question one may ask is how does washington continue talking wars with so many americans against them i have a hard time thinking of any example of any issue on which the conduct of our government in washington corresponds with majority opinion war is not some kind of exception the public is against bailouts for bankers the public is against subsidies for energy companies the public is against wars the public is against just about every decision made on important issues in washington the fact of the matter is that majority of americans don't want. new wars on their plate poll showed they were opposed to u.s. involvement in libya as well but the government went about it anyway many says that the rift between what americans want and what leaders do in the name of the american people is getting larger i'm going to check our reporting from washington . well for all our stories and much more you can head to our website are too dark

a little bit easier for having its problems be at the forefront of the debate on on the global economy and developed economies only because of the situation that europe has and also here number panels as you said with russian participants on the future of eurasia the global energy outlook and also the outlook for china real pessimistic over tone and all of these economic meetings even when it comes to china which is growing at a quick clip still nine percent the line on the agenda about that about china's outlook is why is there pessimism for an economy that's growing nine percent so that really kind of dictates the general pessimism about a lot that's going on in the global economy and he said but we certainly will hear more of what officials they may be trying to sell their talking points for their respective countries their organizations today will certainly learn from non officials we've been hearing a lot of attention and criticism about global economic inequality it doesn't seem like the solution is going to be found for him or at least brought up. it has been
5:17 am
brought up there have been some debates on capitalism where we've seen inequality brought out but those are on the first day we've heard comments from klaus schwab is the founder of the world economic forum who made one of his kind of key talking points promoting the form up to it and the forum but that aside i think that other economic issues have really trump that and i also think the discussion of inequality has been really focused on how it could affect the people that are in power with some of the changes we've seen in countries where we've seen arab spring uprisings and changes in the leadership there and with those protests spreading in the west and western countries i think that's on people's minds in a topic and so far as it could affect the political elite but i should mention the occupy wall street in this case that the occupy davos is here they've been here all week they're continuing to plan actions and expecting higher numbers this weekend from the gentleman i spoke to earlier this week and they're shut out although occupy has been mentioned on the agenda been mentioned by klaus schwab you don't see an invite for those occupy protesters their actions are still limited to

outside the doors of the forum and also when i went and spoke with them earlier this week when the forum had started they said that no c.e.o. or financial ministers or any of the billionaires here have been to talk to them there so i don't really know how much the discussion reflects any of the really core concerns that people that are at the one percent now for. the last say there's still a lot of talks to go maybe there's a chance live from davos thanks for that update. you can get more on business deals that are being conducted at the world economic forum stay tuned for our financial update that's coming up in about five minutes. well a total of five people will officially run in russia's march presidential election but the country's central election commission set to confirm its short list of candidates competing for the top post peter all over has the latest from here in moscow. well we're expecting in the next few moments that the rubber stamp will be
5:19 am
put on that list of names that will appear on the ballot papers on the fourth of march in the presidential elections we're not expecting to have any surprises we pretty much know and the five names will be on there for a little while now we're going to see vladimir putin the current prime minister along the way you know he's a god of the cause of the communist party let him eat your whole thing for the little democrats sort of gave me a lot of from their russia and the independent candidates because we're all sort of know with these names and all the ones that we pushing for their top spot in russia the role of president four of those five do actually have their current jobs in office to do they are well thought of the approaches the prime minister the rest of the leaders of their respective political parties help a lot of is the the the only candidate who doesn't currently hold office sodomy pins but he must be going about his job as prime minister he was in siberia if he days ago in his hometown of st petersburg to day. not so much campaigning as they
5:20 am
say is really going about the role of being the pm we have seen as amy how brutal the only kind that doesn't currently hold office he's in siberia at the moment trying to show his face and press the flesh amongst those who perhaps maybe don't know who he is the. billionaire owner of the new york the new jersey nets is he is somewhat a familiar face in moscow and st petersburg he's going out to the the far east of this all of the far east of the siberia to try and show his face there to make sure he can talk support as for the other candidates we've seen them that he should and also given the lib dems on sunday but also from a russian speaking in the duma just behind me to say they are the leaders of their respective parties the killing of support in their own way as he's gone off from the communists so it is starting to slip into the next gear as we approach that election on the fourth of march. well one of the leaders of the international terrorist organization calls has been killed in russia's north caucasus republic.

but to new york now where details of a shipment containing sixteen kilos of cocaine seize last week at the u.n. headquarters have just been released the packets marked with fake united nations the signal was sent from mexico through cincinnati an organization spokesman says neither the u.n. nor anyone located at the headquarters were the intended recipients officials believe it was the wangle the towns of drug traffickers trying to ship narcotics into the u.s. . up next there's the latest business here on r t with kareena. thank you he said hello and welcome to our business of the good to have you with me often as is thin of the snow and the swiss tell us the fate of the euro is perhaps weighing heaviest on the lines the economic forum of the main theme may be how to create a fairer world but for many the more pressing question is how to get this one working
5:24 am
again now to discuss how the form is putting out i'm now joined live by the chief operating officer of leading accountancy firm key pm jeeves a national alum buckel hello to you sir thanks for joining the program so do you think capitalism needs to be remodeled and that is a possible. but i think there are two discussions going on here over the last few days i think one is the long range discussion we've had around if you like traditional capitalism versus state laid more planned capitalism and then i think sort of overlaid on this we now have expression responsible capitalism and i think what people are thinking is is we really can't hold back your world's great global business because we need to create wealth and create jobs for our citizens and prosperity but at the same time we have to recognise that there is they can be . some collateral damage and the business has to work in a sensitive way to make sure that the needs of citizens are being looked after as we as we create wealth across the world have you heard any convincing ideas on this
5:25 am
matter. well i think you know these are very hard questions and the solutions are going to be hard to i think i think firstly people are talking about this i think i think secondly there's a recognition that we need to global institutions here with the fact is in the moment business is global corporations are strong and they work across national boundaries and it's very difficult at the moment put in place regulation tax regimes and so on so there there is a there is a risk for that of a national level people just see increasing inequality and and income and differences where globally we're growing so we've got to find some way of having our institutions globally able to deal with the issues that are created as a national level but do the ordinary people believe that is there a risk of sounding a little bit of hyper critical given the you know the wealth and power of the delegates. now i can i can absolutely see this you know a lot of people would say you know here's here's a group of very successful people getting together to talk about these difficult
5:26 am
problems but i think the flipside of that is it's incredibly impressive that very busy successful people do get together and have these debates and in a very serious way and i think some of the conversations are are striking i was in a debate a couple days ago which was which was asking people with a view on a question which was this has twentieth century capitalism or is twentieth century capitalism failing twenty first century society and the majority of delegates there who are pretty hard nosed serious business people supported this so i think simply the fact that people give their time to come together to debate this issue shows a real recognition that we do have a problem here and and where we all need to work together to try to address this and that includes you know the powerful people in the world spending time on this ok well thank you very much for sharing raise. with us alan buckle chief operating officer of k p m g international thank you. it's a pleasure thank you that's all the time we have for but don't forget you can
