debate on on the global economy and developed economies only because of the situation that europe has and will also hear a number panels as you said with russian participants on the future of eurasia the global energy outlook and also the outlook for china a real pessimistic overtone and all of these economic meetings even when it comes to china which is growing at a quick clip still nine percent the line on the agenda about the china's outlook is why is there pessimism for an economy that's growing nine percent so that really kind of dictates the general pessimism about a lot that's going on in the global economy and he said but we certainly will hear more of what officials they may be trying to sell their talking points for their respective countries their organizations today will certainly learn from non officials we've been hearing a lot of attention and criticism about global economic inequality does it seem like the solution is going to be found out the forum or at least brought up. it has been brought up there have been some debates on capitalism where we've seen inequality
5:19 am
brought up but those are on the first day we've heard comments from the founder of the world economic forum who made that one of his kind of key talking points promoting the form up to it and the forum but that aside i think that other economic issues have really trump that and i also think the discussion of inequality has been really focused on how it could affect the people that are in power with some of the changes we've seen in countries where we've seen arab spring uprisings and changes in the leadership there and with those protests spreading in the west and western countries i think that's on people's minds on a topic and so far as it could affect the political elite but i should mention the occupy wall street in this case that the occupy davos is here they've been here all week they're continuing to plan actions and expecting higher numbers this weekend from the gentleman i spoke to earlier this week and they're shut out although occupy has been mentioned on the agenda been mentioned by klaus schwab you don't see an invite for those occupy protesters their actions are still limited to outside the doors of the forum and also when i went and spoke with them earlier
5:20 am
this week when the forum had started though they said that no c.e.o. or financial ministers or any of the billionaires here have been to talk to them there so i don't really know how much the discussion reflects any of the really core concerns of people that are at the one percent now for. the last three there's still a lot of talks to go maybe there's a chance lauren lyster live from davos thanks for that update. you can get more on business deals that are being conducted at the world economic forum stay tuned for our financial update that's coming up in about five minutes. well a total of five people will officially run in russia's march presidential election but the country's central election commission set to confirm its short list of candidates competing for the top post peter all over has the latest from here in moscow. we're expecting in the next few moments that the rubber stamp will be put on that list of names that will appear on the ballot papers on the fourth of march
5:21 am
in the presidential elections we're not expecting to have any surprises we pretty much know in the five names will be on there for a little while now we're going to see vladimir putin the current prime minister along the way you know he's a god of the cause of the communist party let him eat your healthy for the little democrats sort of gave me it all all from their russia and the independent candidates because it all sort of now with these names and all the ones that be pushing for the top spot in russia the role of president four of those five do actually have their current jobs in office to do they are well thought of me approaches the prime minister the rest of the leaders of their respective political parties to help a lot of this the the the only candidate who doesn't currently hold office sodomy pitons but he must be going about his job as prime minister he was in siberia a few days ago in his hometown of st petersburg to day. not so much campaigning as they say is really going about the role of being the pm we have seen as amy how
5:22 am
brutal the only kind that doesn't currently hold office he's in siberia at the moment trying to show his face and press the flesh amongst those who perhaps maybe don't know who he is the the billionaire owner of the new york the new jersey nets is he is somewhat a familiar face in moscow and st petersburg he's going out to the the far east office on the far east of the siberia to try and show his face there to make sure he can talk support as for the other candidates we've seen them done a mission and also given the lib dems and setting it off from a russian speaking in the duma just behind me to say they are the leaders of their respective parties they turning up support in their own way as is gone off from the communists so it is starting to slip into the next year as we approach that election on the fourth of march. but one of the leaders of the international terrorist organization murat cause has been killed in russia's north caucuses republic of. those during a counter terrorist operation he was also the head of the largest underground
5:23 am
network in the republic known for carrying out multiple attacks across the caucuses the man was responsible for an explosion at a local market invited temblor twenty ten which killed nineteen people and injured hundreds the shootout between the security forces in the militants lasted several hours officials say two other gunmen were also killed in the exchange. well a new wave of violence has swept across syria after a massacre killed dozens in the restive city of homes activists say forces loyal to president assad were responsible for a barrage of mortar fire at and attacks that killed at least thirty people in a separate incident two hundred people were detained a security forces raided homes searching for weapons and suspects in the town of dumas the un security council is meeting in new york today to discuss the nation's ongoing crisis and members of the council are expected to review the latest western backed draft resolution which will call for the president to step down more than
5:24 am
five thousand people have been killed since the uprising began last march. some other stories for you from around the world this hour twenty six people have been killed in a suicide car bomb attack in iraq fifty three others were wounded in the blast which occurred mainly see a neighbor she see a neighborhood in baghdad more than two hundred people have been killed in similar attacks since the beginning of the year. the u.s. plans to cut one hundred thousand troops in its bid for a smaller leaner military reconstruction ring reconstructing comes as the pentagon prepares for hundreds of billions of dollars worth of cuts over the next ten years the government will continue to spend around eighty eight billion dollars a year on combat operations in afghanistan tensions in the country are still high as the taliban counters western troops often leading to civilian casualties. but to new york now where details of a shipment containing sixteen kilos of cocaine sees last week at the u.n.
5:25 am
headquarters have just been released the packets marked with fake united nations insignia were shipped from mexico through cincinnati an organization spokesman says neither the u.n. nor anyone located at the headquarters were the intended recipients officials believe it was the attempts of drug traffickers trying to ship narcotics into the u.s. . up next is the latest business here on r t with kareena. thank you any said hello and welcome to our business of the good to have you with me often as this then all the snow and this was telling of us the fate of the euro is perhaps weighing heaviest on the lines the economic forum of the main play may be how to create a fairer world but for many the more pressing question is how to get this one working again now to discuss how the form is putting out i'm now joined live by the
5:26 am
chief operating officer of the leading accountancy firm keep p.m.g. as a national call hello to you sir thanks for joining the program so do you think capitalism needs to be remodeled and that is a possible. but i think there are two discussions going on here over the last few days i think one is a long range discussion we've had around if you like traditional capitalism versus state laid more planned capitalism and then i think sort of overlaid on this we now have the expression responsible capitalism and i think what people are thinking is is we really can't hold back your world creation in global business because we need to create wealth and create jobs for our citizens and prosperity but at the same time we have to recognize that there is a can be some collateral damage and that business has to work in a sensitive way to make sure that the needs of citizens are being looked after as we as we create wealth across the world have you heard any convincing ideas on this matter. well i think you know these are very hard questions and the solutions are
5:27 am
going to be hard to i think i think firstly people are talking about this i think i think secondly there's a recognition that we need global institutions here with the fact is in the moment business is global corporations a strong and they work across national boundaries and it's very difficult at the moment to put in place regulation tax regimes and so on so there there is a there is a risk of that of a national level people just see increasing inequality and income differences where globally we're growing so we've got to find some way of having our institutions globally able to deal with the issues that we created as a national level but do the ordinary people believe that isn't there a risk of sounding a little bit of hyper critical given the you know the wealth of power all of the delegates. now i can i can absolutely see this you know a lot of people would say you know here's here's a group of very successful people getting together i'm still proud these difficult problems but you know i think the flip side of that is it's incredibly impressive
5:28 am
that very busy successful people do get together and have these debates and in a very serious way and i think some of the conversations are striking i was in a debate couple days ago which was which was asking people with a view on a question which was this has twentieth century capitalism or is twentieth century capitalism failing twenty first century society and the majority of delegates there who are pretty hard nosed serious business people supported this so i think simply the fact that people give their time to come together to debate this issue shows a real recognition that we do have a problem here and we all need to work together to try to address this and that includes you know the powerful people in the world spending time on this. thank you very much for sharing with us. it's a pleasure thank you that's over time we have for. stories on our web site

5:34 am
lower here for designer goods than back home although this next luxurious pretty well it might be better not to look at the price tags. here in the main shopping street of florence you can find a designer brute of a brand that was founded at the beginning of the twentieth century by a russian noble family reestablished in two thousand and eight it's now an international company based in france with several stores in italy. owned by the russian mobile sort of her these three of the russian fashion they go after she reads like an exciting novel the story of the brand you could say is part of russia's heritage and history. founded in paris in one thousand twenty four by prince philip you suppose and his wife marina the niece of the last person thought nikolai the second and says she clothing range was old european and american
