i'm soon signing a deal with the spending to sixty five year old was back in turkey where his country's national team and his previous job megabucks signing summer and brazilian veteran roberto carlos were among those made a rising themselves with the dutchman and his methods at their training camp and back the club sacked after only six weeks at the how and then appointed a former russian national to manager on a yen. frequently linked with big name signings but hitting says he won't necessarily be splashing the cash it's not just about famous players are being done and you must know they like to establish themselves within the top of the russian league which is not easy i think they must do it step by step but not just by the by not just famous players it must fit into the last few months ago. russia confirmed their reputation as one of beach. houses after winning the

more to cheer as i like see my cart of waited for a knoll of what was always the last touch of a second period. portugal have plenty of work to do in the final period but they wanted to find a way back into the manage however task was made all but impossible as you to me it grabbed a second of a game to pop a result beyond any doubts but this does need a miracle they wanted to lift the trophy themselves and they did give themselves a lifeline as karma pulled a gold bank but with only four minutes remaining and another free goals needed to toss was all but impossible. the portuguese would make the school more respectable with what proved to be the last kick of a game but despite that effort from my share it had no effect on the final scoreline as russia roamed to a well deserved four to win much to the delight of their fans and a captain in nearly all of. the greats it's
11:51 am
a wonderful feeling to win this trophy we weren't able to win here in two thousand and five when we lost to switzerland in the final however we weren't as experienced back then and we were just learning about the sport seven years on and we've managed to win the year. being cup it's great that so many fans came along to watch this a very professional display by the russians to cement a better place the kings of european beach soccer and their goalkeeper under the brooklyn ski sobers old was down to a lot of hard work on the training field the most important thing is that we won and play really confidently the eight strongest sides from europe were here and once again we showed everyone that we are the best meanwhile in the first place play off switzerland managed to get one over their rivals equally as the swiss eventually run five four winners. but it was all about the russians and life of a home crowd as russia managed to fend of a european cup crown and it's a great confidence boost for the team to continue their preparations to defend

market. campbell. find out what's really happening to the global economy with mike's cancer a no holds barred look at the global financial headlines. is a report on. the latest news in the week's top stories and. all ministry says tehran is stopping all exports to france and britain amid pressure and sanctions over its nuclear program. the u.n. ramps up the pressure on the syrian regime as violence escalates but russia calls for talks to break the stalemate damascus promises reforms. and greek anger spills out of the streets once again as lawmakers clear up more cuts to secure rescue cash in the wake of days of violent protests will have live analysis on the situation in greece and the euro zone shortly here.
12:01 pm
with a look back at the past seven days and the latest developments this is the weekly here on r.t. iran says it has stopped all exports to french and british companies the country's oil ministry says tehran has other customers to sell its crude to islamic republic aims to preempt an embargo that's set to come into force in july the e.u. says that was necessary to force iran to resume talks over its atomic program europe in the u.s. suspects iran is pursuing nuclear weapons to iran denies that and said it's ready to resume negotiations that says reports suggest iran plans to boost the enrichment capacity of its underground site near the city of qom historian webster tarpley told me a little early that iran is imposing its own oil embargo to show that it won't be
12:02 pm
bullied. economic sanctions are a game that two can play and turnabout is fair play in international affairs the european commission and the relevant powers have been making a big noise over the past couple of weeks about how they are going to embargo and boycott all iranian oil starting on july first well it's pretty obvious the iranians decided not to wait around until july first they've decided to to impose their own embargo boycott on the offending powers and they're starting with the the two biggest imperialist bullies on the schoolyard the british and the french who are now so weak that they can only act together they are a kind of imperialist bicycle built for two they haven't had time to carefully arrange the fallback options and the alternative sources of oil so this is a little bit of a surprise to that the iranians have been under sanctions for thirty years when i
12:03 pm
was in iran you see a lot of prosperity a lot of economic activity there had been a shock in january as a result of the very stringent sort of secondary boycott sanctions that the u.s. had put in but the iranians will tell you they have lived under u.s. sanctions for thirty years they know how to survive in such a situation i didn't see any evidence of hardships at all peoples that that certain key prices had gone up the bigger issue i think is the slide towards war and i think we have to take very seriously what we're seeing now with the reckless and irresponsible statements of the israeli leaders these feckless americans who are sort of but china meaning in is a region sliding towards war and that would be then i think possibly a general war. preventing iran from getting nuclear weapons isn't the real driving force for the u.s. and its allies says antiwar activist brian becker. the united states government has created an artificial crisis that's first and foremost it's
12:04 pm
a manufactured crisis iran is complying with the i.a.e.a. iran does not have a nuclear weapon iran is not threatening its neighbors iran has not started a war with any of its neighbors israel on the other hand has hundreds of nuclear weapons and unlike the iran refuses to sign a nuclear nonproliferation treaty does not allow. specters into its country so there's not really a nuclear menace or a nuclear danger from iran so what is the cause of the artificial crisis the real goal is the united states government has embarked on a course of extreme economic aggression against iran with the hope that by creating economic suffering economic isolation economic misery that part of the population will rise up or become disenfranchised with the government so that the u.s. can do as it has in history carry out regime change.

and you can watch the full version of that interview in just over an hour here on r.t. . the u.n. general assembly has adopted a non-binding resolution this week calling on syria's president assad to step down russia was among twelve states who voted against saying the draft fails to address the armed opposition while the moscow says vying for major reforms reports of violence continue artie's more if an ocean is in syria. this is racially in syria means volatile with tensions between security forces and the armed opposition groups continue in claiming lives of both military and civilians almost every day on thursday we attended the funerals of a young boy who was gunned down early here in damascus during the n.t. government protest and the procession itself eventually turned into hostile to mr asian in the clashes that followed and that continued the next day five people were killed and many others injured one violence one day causes even more violence next

and so on and so on we also can see political murders as well this week shaikh of one of the most of damascus was assisted native apparently because of his pronouncements the shaikh came out with strong condemnation of the terror groups of the armed groups he blamed for the bloodshed calling for to stop the violence to stop the bloodshed we're also hearing about hostilities in other parts of the country reports from the opposition activists that in the city of homs many people die every day in the city of hama they've been the several explosions the oil pipeline in the midst of violence these tensions all across syria syria reforms. to go in this week the date for the national referendum on the country's new constitution was announced the vote is expected to take place next sunday as far as the ministry of internal affairs of syria has said around fifteen million people in syria today have the right to vote this new constitution was drafted. and the
12:07 pm
monopoly of the ruling party the vast party here in syria had been in power for the last fifty years but people on the ground are actually fearing that this referendum and this new constitution too little and too late this week the chinese delegation visited syria both russia and china are calling for the dialogue to be restored between the syrian opposition and the authorities. saying that this is the only way out of this crisis. and james corbet middle east expert and journalist says the peacekeeping initiative for syria put forward by the arab league could easily be hijacked by states interested in regime change given the the disgraceful conduct of un peacekeepers everywhere from haiti to the ivory coast to the congo and many other countries besides i think the syrian people should certainly hope that peacekeeping mission doesn't come about and i think one would have to see it really is as nothing more than a ploy to to involve the united nations in what is essentially at this point
12:08 pm
a civil war and and once the situation spun out of control as it probably inevitably would given the peacekeeping mandate of a force that would have no ability to defend itself in the face of that violence the only sensible option at that point would be to send in foreign troops which i think is the really the end game and get in but that's going on in the strategy in the first place this is once again very much a copycat of the libyan situation that we thought last year with confirmed x. al qaeda fighters being part of the libyan opposition that the u.s. was openly supporting although one would certainly hope that some some enterprising u.s. citizen would take the department of homeland security up on there see something say something campaign and actually report to the u.s. administration for their material support for terrorist organizations perhaps some of the you know the u.s. officials who have been materially supporting the terrorist organizations in the syrian opposition could be thrown behind bars for this. this is the weekly life here in moscow with the twenty four hours

a day coming up in the next few minutes prodemocracy out of a story in a war scarred country place governor shots in libya things of celebrations but not to the tape machine isn't going anywhere costing a shadow of a country's path to stability. that's still to come for you this hour but first frustrated greeks have been running in central athens once again to protest against ever more a stereotype being pushed upon them greece's cabinet has passed the final set of massive cuts you creditors demand in return for a one hundred thirty billion euro bailout which could now be cleared on monday but the rage of a league of population is still at the forefront of greek society jacob graves reports. system under siege m.p.'s drowned out the pleas of tens of thousands of demonstrators amassed within a short passing another round of unpopular cuts. the results proved incendiary. that you got the protests turned violent as protesters including

fringe and a kiss clashed with police again leaving their mark on athens. a day on this is the remnants of public anger the glass isn't the only thing that's been broken as governments past increasingly unpopular austerity cuts people are being left asking who can they trust serve their interests the measures are very very tough part of the poor people especially and this is the reason that we feel. today i think more measures have been taken and they're it's not going to work in the end it will be another bill. bad and oh i hope for the best but i don't see it coming. under pressure from brussels berlin and the international monetary fund the greek government has cut more jobs and slashed funding for the nation's pensions a minimum wage but current policy appears to mainly expose those most vulnerable to

crisis conditions is a mindset some feel is doomed to fail and they already have destroyed the whole generation of young people and their dreams they will destroy the structure of the sabian infrastructure of the whole country we know that it is. a piece there that we have now signs that these illegal or old news we cannot continue like that because the policy that the government is following actually increases the day yeah instead of finding a solution at the heart of activists claims is their search and that they've known us there. he for the best part of five years now and that time taxes have risen incomes have fallen but the country's deficit only seems to grow and in this austerity cycle is something sought by an increasing number despite the turmoil the government warms will follow but what is
12:12 pm
a bad about our political system is that they have the right exactly to do it even more. they are going to come the only way out at this point is the default default is going to be very tough for us but there's going to be a better solution than these so slow death for now relative calm has returned to the streets of athens smashed buildings have been patched up the signs of damage swept away but the simmering discontent hasn't been a mass force medicine appears to bring nothing but pain many are continuing their call for turned to treatment jake agrees r.t. athens. well the euro zone's austerity drive has also hit spain as tens of thousands of people have marched out across the country today protesters are angry at the government's labor forms they say reforms were unfair to workers and would destroy jobs the changes make it easier to adjust employers shed jobs and wages and
12:13 pm
have star fired let's not talk to patrick young director investment advisory firm devi advisors spain's unemployment is already the highest in the eurozone and trade unions are saying the new reforms will only make things worse make it easier for companies to fire people so patrick are these laws designed to help people or corporations i think ultimately the laws are actually designed to try to help the spanish economy because you see in essence both parties are right the corporations are right they can't manage to fire anybody they've got incredibly stringent employment contracts the unions at the same time while they're defending a particular constituency and that constituency is that sensually people who are predominantly thirty plus years old all the way up to pensionable age because those are the only people who can get permanent contracts and spirit and this is where the disingenuity of this argument arises because the tragedy is and the reason why spain has got forty percent unemployment amongst those people who are in their
12:14 pm
twenty's is simply because they cannot get a permanent job because frankly when you employ somebody permanently in spain you are joined with that employee more or less through the turn at tick and this leads us to the terrible crux of capitalism which is always a problem but ultimately works which is what we call champers creative destruction the point is sometimes you have to get rid of people in certain jobs in order to employ people in other places and actually a very good example of why that worked was in the united kingdom going nowhere in the one nine hundred seventy s. but the time to start should finish there was a country that was actually back on the verge of the premier league once again so in essence spend needs to reform the government just. right but that doesn't mean it's not going to be potentially painful for a lot of people who do have jobs at the moment you talk about those people under thirty being hard hit in spain and no doubt throughout the euro zone austerity measures they cut jobs they're not actually create them so that's certainly not one measure to pursue is it well look the point about
12:15 pm
a stereotype is this i mean as we all know when you get to the point where the government employs one hundred percent of the workforce that doesn't matter it doesn't work it doesn't function in fact it's totally dysfunctional as we all know from russia's rather unfortunate experiment up until about nine hundred ninety the issue here is a very actively the fact that we must live within our means we must have reasonable budgeting and companies must have an opportunity to employ people and actually i would argue that in a certain sense some countries have become completely farcical because actually the public sector the government is giving such a better employment prospects to people that the private sector the entrepreneurs the people who create the wealth actually can't manage to hire anybody in the first place because they can't afford to pay the widgets so there is a fundamental dichotomy here and that's actually what the whole of the european union is going through because we've had this delusional third way concept in europe that you can manage to have a huge government lots of social spending and somehow or other that will manage to
12:16 pm
make sure that you have a lot of prosperity the problem is it works for a couple of generations sooner or later you have to pay for your debts and tragically that moment for all those people in europe is not patrick you know i spoke about the crisis in greece not long ago now waiting for the result of that meeting to morrow it's met all the creditors advance do you think it will actually meet the demands of brussels will it actually get the bailout it wants or i think this is very difficult i mean look what we have here is basically that great scene in the hollywood adventure movie where someone has tripped and fallen over the edge of the cliff and he's being held onto by one armed by the person who we're not sure whether he's that beauty or the easy. gonna let them go and let them fall to a terrible death or is he going to hang on to them and gradually bring them up and that's where we are with greece and the european union because actually what is being said behind closed doors and even to a degree in public is we've got someone like those going short of learn the german
12:17 pm
finance minister basically saying he doesn't trust the greeks to manage to hold up to the agreements that they've made and tragically the greeks track record of actually doing their bit in terms of what they're supposed to do in the past has been a huge fail so therefore we now have a situation where the greeks have said we'll do anything you want whatever you want we'll do it but the problem is in so substantial and i mean it's much much worse than what we're looking at in somewhere like spain it is a catastrophe and it is pushing people to the brink of starvation and there is obviously a lot of tickle position at which you have gone too far so not only greece has a poisoned chalice personally i think what's going to happen here is that the foreign minister the finance minister is rather tomorrow of the finance ministers will probably agree to give greece some money and greece is going to find itself in a dreadful situation where like a nine year old child every friday it's going to have to go to daddy say it's done untold work so it's been a good boy.
