it's. sure report suspicious activity. or get your bag on the bus thinking about changing your appearance like paying for things with cash well that's all considered suspicious activity and it could earn you some unwanted attention will show you how the callous how callous the see something say something mentality can be. and speaking of unwanted attention starting today google has gathered even more doubt on you and the internet and your internet browsing habits so is this the advent of internet privacy as we know or. might change friends they call me because i was on the

outside of the you know on the inside this is not politically correct america love the land where one sex scandal can make or break a politician's career there seems to be an unwritten rule that some topics are off the table and people like ron paul are saying to hell with that at telling it like it is so is it time for america to stop being so politically correct. thursday march first seven pm here in washington d.c. and was a volunteer watching artsy. well today it seems we live in a world where constant surveillance is becoming the norm and it doesn't help that the government encourages it encourages you and i think you've a very close eye on everything and everyone around us but aside from all the obvious alarm bells the department of homeland security and the f.b.i. encourages people to report so-called suspicious activities and they include hayden

with cash traveling long distances shaving a beard or changing your hair color having a politically active or religious beliefs wearing a backpack also is considered suspicious and those are just to name a few so as fear mongering runs rampant our citizens being stripped of their right to privacy are getting rid of her and i have to take a look at how these days almost anyone can be considered a terrorist. the united states of america is home to over three hundred thirty million people we are a country known for freedom. that was then this is today it's. sure report suspicious activity or the land of liberty is fast becoming known as the land of the year and suspicion there are individuals in the united states who seek to carry out acts of terrorism post nine eleven slogan born in new york city
7:03 pm
has been adopted nationwide don't assume it was left by accident if you see something say something this see something say something american campaign depicts terrorist scenarios and encourages members of the public to keep a watch on well other members of the public according to f.b.i. pamphlets distributed to local businesses potential terrorist activity indicators include always paying with cash wearing backpacks in baggy clothes and the discreet and prolonged use of cameras or not taking in the cybercafe owners are encouraged to keep a watch on any customers overly concerned with privacy even just trying to shield your screen from others can make it was suspect. first thing government policies or making anti-war statements can also land citizens on the u.s. watch list as a two thousand and nine us defense department categorizes public protests as low
7:04 pm
level terrorism we're in a military dominated society. the people are unaware. terrorism is a french you know nine eleven is clearly never a fear has been exploited and. sustained by encouraging a state of public surveillance from new yorkers of hughes the governments of fostering more paranoia and security over react and i was saying earlier. that one is paying cash. for this project. i don't believe that it has far reaching the n.y.p.d. under fire again for its intelligence gathering campaign involving muslim americans . and illegal surveillance scandal erupted in the big apple after police officers were caught spying on mom and muslim community according to the associated press thousands were under surveillance with no evidence or even allegations of criminal
7:05 pm
behavior we have to keep this country safe this is a dangerous place many in the u.s. fear that with america's escalating definition of vicious activity that governments expanding powers remain the biggest threat to the people security greenough were not artsy new york well earlier george hammond are founder of survive and thrive t.v. joining me he gave me his opinion a lot of the u.s. is going more and more paranoid but the increased amount of spying surveillance. i think that america and the politicians that run this phone tree are forcing a. new era of told terry an ism and spying on fellow americans and with the economic collapse that that's on our plates right now you can kind of expect more terrorism and more spreading of fear and fear mongering by our government eric said totalitarianism is
7:06 pm
a very extreme war and why would you go as far as to use that word well i mean yesterday i covered the occupy movement they actually closed down a distribution center wal-mart distribution center for six hours and the government is now arresting leaders of protest movements across the country and they shut down those the occupy movement basically with a coordinated attack and if that isn't a attack on freedom of speech in our liberties i don't i don't know what is that also came out recently that with apartment of homeland security has been. monitoring the occupy wall street movement how do you feel about a federal government agency keeping tabs on protesters i think it's atrocious i think the bureaucrats that we pay with our tax dollars should actually be going after real terrorists then actual citizens that have grievances with the corrupt
7:07 pm
politicians and the corrupt financial elites in this country instead of trying to shut the on free speech instead of arresting these young kids since pepper spraying them in arresting them they should be addressing their grievances and take a look at wall street and take a look at the big corporate business and try to right the wrongs of the inequality in this country. are earlier. what activities count as suspicious changing your peer. it's paying with cash and sorry so forth these are things that almost everybody does at some point in time as almost anyone there are qualified to be on a terrorist watch list but she read the twenty five flyers of the f.b.i. underneath the comediennes against terrorism passed out and the actually encourage people to call call in it and a number and mention
7:08 pm
a secret phrase tripwire so it's reeks of kind of a secret star reporting on your fellow citizens and here's some of the businesses that they targeted with those fires hobby shops if you're interested in remote controlled aircraft if you're at a hotel and you don't want need service if you're at a mall and you will ride with a group of individuals split up but are still communicating by phone that could be a dry run for a terrorist activity i feel like a lot of us are guilty of some of those things at some point in time. watch next time you go to the car rental shop and you read the car watch the questions they ask you i've come up with a couple of my subscribers about you do you channel they want to know where your go and they want to know what you're doing and they're going to question you if you pay cash these are not anyone's concern with your private movements in a vehicle that you're renting this is just overreach of authority and overreaction
7:09 pm
to so-called terrorist threat and you are good looking at the other side of the argument i mean. what's wrong with being asked to report suspicious activity of law enforcement gets useless information when it so be it as long as it keeps the public safe. well that's the balance you know the balance that we have to come to in this country is safety versus security and when you give up your liberty and you give up your freedom and your privacy for safety and security i'd say you've given up your freedom in general i mean you've lost the whole point of it the it's keeping the balance it's keeping a balance of keeping the public safe but without infringing upon our rights that are guaranteed by the constitution that's that's the that's the truth you for and also brought to light recently at the new york police department monitoring muslims this includes keeping a close eye on muslim mosque for muslim students simply due to the fact that they
7:10 pm
are muslim and so are a certain ethnicity is a religion is more likely more likely to fall back down. sure i mean they may be moderate monitoring muslims right now that you may not have a problem with i have a problem with the civil liberties aspect of violating that but soon they may be monitoring people that happen to own guns legally i mean if you look at those twenty five flyers they talk about martial arts and paint go up you know moderate if you go play paint ball and you this is quoting the flyer if you're converting large parts of rural land to paint ball fields or military style training camps you could be a low level terrorists i mean the n.r.a. should take a big issue with some of these issues i mean this affects the left and it affects the right it's an overreach by the f.b.i. and government authority i guess we all better watch ourselves that when we're in pain thank you for a way again that was george hammond our founder of survive and pride t.v.
7:11 pm
. meanwhile corporations coming under scrutiny of her violating consumer privacy today google's the latest privacy changes go into effect this despite european and u.s. consumer groups urging the certain giants a delay in making a controversial changes now what happens is all of google services like g. mail and you tube they are now all streamlined into one profile google maintained that will give consumers a more personalized glad experience but critics say it allows the company it's a compile a vast amounts of infer personal information and store it all in one place to talk more about what this means for your privacy conn hallinan columnist for foreign policy and focus joins us now so can i what do you make of these changes well i think the idea that google is doing this in order to give you a better person experience is something that you know you are real careful about except you know i mean this is about quantity and i think in this case particularly
7:12 pm
not only are they collecting an enormous amount of information but i don't really think that you can trust you will get or with what they do with it he could see already been caught. essentially figuring out a way to supply cookies there is these little things that allows them to track you when you go browsing on the web can slip these into safari into internet explorer which covers apple computers in and microsoft computers are doing basically the whole deal and they can they see that we do this so when i go on my safari because i have a mac and i go on of the web and i start looking for stories that i'm researching someone's tracking or now google says is doing it for your own good but i don't really think that decision i want to leave to
7:13 pm
a major corporation i think that that is my sort of inherent right to decide who knows what i do on the web and where it is i go and what i look for and what exactly is the problem that i me and you know they compile your shopping habits and somebody sees a pair of hughes or something that they want and they see that a discount price that's kind of getting them. they're concerned you know people are letting them shop for things that they want at an easier is that they can find things easier so in a way it can benefit the consumer why should the consumer be concerned about twelve i mean i think it's you know where they come up they have an argument and they say you know it's like living in a small town and it's like you go to you know your porch and small town and after a while the butcher knows what types of meat you like and those are kind of cuts of meat you like except for ok but if you ever lived in a small town everybody knows you everybody knows your business i all i don't want
7:14 pm
that to happen and this is like it's like if you leave the small town butcher comes after you and follows you around and gives you your right kind of meat you know at your doorstep i mean these are these are our ways in which we are slowly giving up . our privacy and there's another thing which you need to worry about and that is if who collects all of this stuff together. does it mean that at makes it easier for for instance a government agency. to step in and get that information and we saw this in the post nine eleven situation where the government was able to go in and get e-mails to get things that people were sending back and forth it order to monitor them to see if there's any kind of terrorist activity why couldn't they do the same thing with this and where there doesn't seem to be more concern that people seem to mark
7:15 pm
uncertain when it comes to the government violating their privacy about what's to say that google along give this information to the government eventually will they will i mean that's what i'm trying to say what i'm saying here is that if they collect this walk again or and the government produces a subpoena i would say get from a court because there are some sort of they're monitoring terrorist activities and they can't tell you what your second is because that's national security so you can talk about it. and they can go in and get this information so essentially what you do is you click laws information in one place and makes a whole lot easier for government to go in and get that information now normally if someone wants to know what i'm thinking and what i'm doing what i'm saying on you tube or we're all going on the web we're what i'm saying in my cell phone etc you need to go get a warrant in eagle tell
7:16 pm
a court we have reason to believe that such and such is engaged in some kind of activity or here's the evidence for them and therefore they can put your phone and they can put up a listening device in your car or your or your home except or well google was doing this there's no warrant now can't get away that this does kind of go along with consumer demand because people they want things instantly fast temple streamlined so isn't google just giving people what they want well what could be asked of those people. i mean how are they asking us i don't know i don't need things instantly i'm going a little older o.e. things instantly and if you try to go on and disable. the little things that google can track you try you have to be a computer artist in order to do it any even if you do it it doesn't mean that they still can't track you so my feeling about this is book is some corporation wants to
7:17 pm
come up and ring my doorbell and say look we like to every time something so you can we can ring your door down certain kinds of dick if i want but i say yes sure oh what a cool little sign up this is no soliciting i don't want them that's my decision i was decision and by the way twitter is no solely bold tweets to businesses and that in a conversation we are going to have to have the save for another time a lot of controversial changes going into effect today can't think of her coming on the show that was con hallahan columnist for foreign policy in focus thank you very well north korea north korea has agreed to suspend its nuclear enrichment program and also agreeing to let it in international nuclear inspectors and return the u.s. as it will provide putting its being held as a person and improve relations between the two countries meanwhile iran which has faced and ten suspension from the blast over its program said recently that having a nuclear weapon is quote a sen this as the west seems convinced they are conspiring to build
7:18 pm
a nuclear weapon so is the so-called axis of evil perhaps not as much of a threat as many think the north korea being considered less of a threat and more jamal of the joined us earlier today in studio here is a take. i think that i think that is that that is the outcome of this and it's you know it's very early in the process i think this is a promising development i think it's an indication of where we should be looking to go with politicization worldwide that we should be seeking to have inspectors on the ground verification measures in place and. really live up to the axiom of trust but verify. right and at the same time iran which also has come under suspicion from the last. foreign minister has said that nuclear
7:19 pm
arms production is quote a great set for this kind of goes along with iran stance this whole time that their nuclear program is for peaceful purposes yeah it does and it's actually you know this this nuclear weapons the same comment actually reflects what the iranian leadership position has been for a long time now which is that actually you know the supreme leader issued a fatwa saying that nuclear weapons are on a slum and that they are prohibited that iran does not seek them. so this is consistent with that and i think it's also consistent with what united states military intelligence civilian leaders have consistently said which is that iran's program remains a civilian program they may be working towards nuclear latency and he'd be working toward certain capabilities that what they're not working towards is actually building a bomb they have not taken they have not made the political decision to do that and
7:20 pm
so what we should be focusing on is making sure they don't make that decision how seriously kumba iranian foreign ministers statement be taken could it be taken as a sign that. that in fact they are iran is not developing a nuclear weapon or is it more. how seriously cannot be taken as it's being called and said well you never take anything like that as an article of faith but you what you can do is test it we should be talking to the iranian foreign minister we should be talking to the iranian government and we should be working to put those inspectors in place you know there are inspectors on the ground in iran but what the u.n. inspection body has said is they want greater access so they can actually verify that this is the case that he ron cannot make a move to build a nuclear weapon so what we should do is actually test this this claim that it's that it remains a peaceful program and reinforce the mechanisms that can guarantee that that is the case now despite all of this war rhetoric seems to be continuing specially
7:21 pm
it's a real fight hard evidence that iran is developing a nuclear weapon what is behind that. well look it's really it's a matter of right now you have the netanyahu coming to washington he's going to be meeting with the president on monday do you have a packed conference you know the sort of hawkish israel lobby coming to town this weekend for their their major lobbying. and they are looking to ramp up pressure on the white house to take a more hawkish position towards iran and to really. to limit the white house's options and how they deal with iran you have talks apparently coming up between iran and the u.s. and the europeans and the chinese and the russians. israel's concerned or at least netanyahu is concerned that there would be a move to actually trade concessions on the u.s.
7:22 pm
side and exchange for concessions on the iranian side so this talk of war really boxes in the president's options and it lowers the possibility that he could make any kind of concessions because it not only poisons the well for talks but politically it forces the president to have to say and do some very sort of combative combative things and what you are you are prediction. leaders from israel coming to washington d.c. what do you predict well what i predict is it's actually you know it's it's funny military leaders in the u.s. down the line you look at any one of them they all say there is no military solution to the iranian nuclear issue it's just it's not possible you can't bomb knowledge if the if israel or the u.s. goes into iran and does military strikes it's going to delay the program but then you have to go in there again every two years but what it also will do is convince
7:23 pm
iran. that it's no longer a sin to try to pursue a nuclear weapon that in order to keep the regime intact they have to do that so that's going to be off the table what the. conference is going to be about is pressuring the president to say a running nuclear weapons capability not an actual nuclear weapon but if they even have the capability to proceed to build one that's unacceptable on grounds for we're only will be there this week and i'll be interesting to see how that does play out of all what it takes for this so-called axis of evil to be seen as less of a threat it would take what we've seen with north korea and what hopefully we can see with iran if the temperature isn't increased to four which is to actually have some diplomatic agreements in place that can reduce the tension so that can get the sides around the table to resolve their issues not by issuing rhetoric through you know through the media or through missile tests or you know saber rattling but to
7:24 pm
actually get some confidence building measures in place where we can say we're on a trajectory towards resolving these issues instead of on a trajectory towards war all right jamal pleasure to have you on the show as always that was jim all of the policy director for the national aronian american council. well we've witnessed the downfall of a fair share of politicians from affairs to off color comments it seems there's little tolerance for those that fail to remain politically correct but is there another session that being politically correct and is getting out of hand they know karachi director of grassroots political consulting joined me earlier so i am. there's a disconnect between stream media and those here on the build way and what the electorate want and we have recent history as an example the appeal of the obama campaign changing the tone of d.c. to sixty three new members of congress and eleven state legislatures changing hands
7:25 pm
in two thousand and ten to more recently the desire to this day in this late for indiana governor daniels or new jersey governor chris christie to get into the republican race at this point in time shows you the desire from the electorate for straight talking results oriented but not here right herman cain we saw the downfall of have because of his extramarital affair or multiple affairs a lot of airtime being spent on that but you know in europe and other countries. those kinds of things aren't that big of a deal so at the end of the day does that one's personal actions that really affect their professional fitness to do their job well it depends on how egregious it gets like getting anthony wiener in herman cain's case except for a but. i don't know if it plays a factor in a little way even in europe with the personal political scandals of many
7:26 pm
politicians but i think it's more on the reputation and whether it's an egregious example like the ones we've discussed or if it's something down to a divorce. something that is much more mainstream these days than it used to be meanwhile a lot of attention recently is given to this guy we have a clip to show you here. you know i've had two hundred fifty tea party come to my offers wanted me to a. birth certificate i'm the electorate sure i just cited to do it my cold case posse volunteers lawyers no clothes no cause for the taxpayers so we have been working on this and that was arizona sheriff joe arpaio what he's been working on is trying to verify president obama's birth certificate is indeed authentic why is even the time of day. i think he is given the time of day more for
7:27 pm
what he's done on correction reform the prisons that he's put in ease of for term sheriff in maricopa county which is the bedrock in heart and soul of the illegal immigration issue for this country and the being a border state in all of the problems that are incurred. there kopek county is the central place that's affected by that crime and the coyote's and different things like that i think that's more why he gets credibility this issue to me is a little bit of a sideshow a sideshow we should point out also that it was just found breaking news here carol is possibly probable cause was found that obama's birth certificate is a fraud i think donald trump sort of this issue about a year ago i think it was spring of this year a year ago something like that and you know i'm not sure how much more validity that conversation needs to be given. to you but it's still part of the conversation
7:28 pm
thank the characters' posse there but you know we also see issues like birth control newt gingrich and he was talking about moon colony is and and much time being spent on these issues we see a lot of time specially there in the g.o.p. debates but when it comes to someone like ron paul when he talks about cutting back on military. spending and you know. the war is over thiis he's extreme and oftentimes he shot and what do you make of that well that's why i go back to these examples of the strong disconnect between look at capitol hill congress still has nine percent approval rating which is just staff and family those receiving the paycheck basically the electorate is so frustrated with the lack of results the red lack of bold things that need to be done to get this country on track and those here on capitol hill seem to be the president included
7:29 pm
just gimmicks status quo nothing big being done and the mainstream media plays along ron paul's appeal the entire movement he has nationwide in ironically amongst the military and youth more than almost anybody down to like eight said the desire here for chris christie mitch daniels to get in this race even this late in the game mean people want these solutions oriented people that can talk through and speak plain english about the problems we face and what needs to get done but they're not given their credibility appear because there's a lot of people up here that don't want things to change so you think there is a disconnect between the belief on capitol hill and the public amongst the establishment now the establishment is not just g.o.p. it's on both sides of the aisle there are those look at senator ron wyden and paul ryan working together on a medicare plan gave camp and why didn't working on tax reform together.
