most things i don't actually a fact anyone's life story is a guy completely ignored the hardships that so many americans are facing or the wars that our troops are losing their lives then or a million other things like what f.b.i. director robert mueller said yesterday that's right he was also on the hill being grilled by lawmakers and had this moment. in my mind this moment should be on every single t.v. screen today unfortunately is it and this is regarding the speech given by attorney general eric holder the other day which laid out why this administration thinks that it's totally legal for them to assassinate u.s. citizens without due process so robert mueller was asked by representative kevin yoder a very good question and yours response was just a joke take a listen. does it only apply to a u.s. citizen that's overseas or does it apply to your citizens which you have to go back . churton whether that was a gross i'm going to defer to others in the court of justice.

seriously you're not certain whether that was discussed or not these lawmakers are asking you if you remember what eric holder had for breakfast yesterday they're asking you if the government says that it can kill u.s. citizens without ever letting them see a day in court even when they're on u.s. soil they're asking if you can be sitting on your couch one day eating some cheetos driving your car singing along to a little spring so you know the radio and have a drone strike like you and your family out without anyone ever telling you that that was a possibility we're giving you a chance to defend yourself in court first and also to seven others clear our director of the f.b.i. i can't answer whether that's cool or not he's got a lot of his play guys you can listen to some speech about the government assassinating their own and tearing the constitution into little shreds have you seen all the terrorist plots that he's helping his agency make up so they can get more federal funding in fancy toys and obviously i'm taking this a little far but it's a damn important questions ask i don't really believe that mueller is that oblivious i think that he just wants to avoid having to answer the question but the

truth is for those of us that did it listen carefully to holder's speech the answer is already out there all the deejays responded saying that the framework the holder laid out applies for u.s. citizens abroad he did leave the door pretty wide open when he also reiterated that these days it doesn't matter where in the world you're located because of the nature of our times the stainless shape that our enemy has taken they can be anywhere it does not have to be a battlefield per se like afghanistan and the government therefore thinks that it can pursue them anywhere and everywhere now do i really think they're going to launch a drone strike on someone's house here in america no but if something ever does happen let's not forget that the framework the eric holder laid out included three criteria one of which was. capture not being feasible we also know these people after exaggerate everything if we got inside the compound face to face with osama bin laden nevada bad men pretty sure that we could have done the same thing in yemen with a law then where there you have it ladies and gentlemen the sheer lack of regard

for our laws our values for the constitution shown by this administration by eric holder by robert mueller by all those who don't find this stance to be outrageous and a clear lack of respect for the american people when somebody like mueller thinks that he can get away with an answer like that during a testimony before congress but the mainstream media doesn't really seem to think that it's all that big of a deal the possibility of your own government killing you in your own house they choose to miss. now as we discussed on yesterday's show super tuesday wasn't just about the presidential election thanks to redistricting we also saw two democrats part of the fence each other in ohio resulting in marcy kaptur defeating going to senate they're lucky enough to have the congressman join us in the studio tonight to talk about his next steps the presidential race that wiki leaks and

a drumbeat for war an intervention in iran and syria the grows louder by the day so joining me to discuss is us congressman dennis kucinich congressman thanks so much for being here tonight first starters how do you feel how are your spirits after after to say i don't like to lose but i've lost before life to john chapter and i'm going to go forward and you know i in my life for defeat before. victory and i both were there. so it's all right it's ok do you have any plans any ideas for what you might be doing next. and plan to lose so now i will make plans. what would you be open to perhaps you know. might you be a lobbyist one day. all right i want to talk about what else happened during this race to which is that one democrat pitted against another democrat here during this race at one point you were even called someone who was pro-war by your own it was

not like well in a campaign people will say anything and usually you don't expect that in karl rove type attack ads to come from another democrat. and i think that. we have to remember that each campaign sets the tone for what our politics are it informs our constituents about what the rules are except them on what's not and if we keep lowering the bar of conduct then we go into an anything goes approach which inevitably is destructive to our communities and to our country i think you can see that in a lot of ways to it's not only applying to campaigns but i think you can talk about executive power and so in that sense let's talk about the talk about what i just discussed this speech the eric holder gave the other day you have been outspoken

against the national defense authorization act that was passed last year at least this provision for the attention of american citizens for a long time now you have certain colleagues of yours in congress that are trying to pass laws where you get the american part taken out of the language but while they pass this bill and the first place question in this climate of fear which our nation is still in and post nine eleven. it is ultimately destructive of our democracy because it has set us on the path through pass the patriot act pass the national defense authorization act which further erodes basic constitutional guarantees such as to process and creates a profoundly anti-democratic environment in america when when you have a government that has assumed for itself the right to execute american citizens then you have the government being policeman. prosecutor judge jury and

executioner due process destroyed our constitution shredded. this is not a democrat or republican issue this is a question of who are we as americans and whether we are going to speak out against what is obviously an abuse of power and in an attempt to gain for the state even you know the power of life and death over individuals without any legal process involved the fact that we don't hear some many people speaking out against it is that it's not the top story on every single news channel and we don't hear more voices from congress that there aren't protests on the street the constitution is just been destroyed in a sense what does that tell you because you ask who we are as americans what's going on and people are people have been logged into an acceptance of a status quo which sees the steady erosion of constitutional guarantees that shows a lack of civics. civic awareness of what our basic rights are and we should have

people having to read the constitution should be required thing in every class in every elementary school and every high school to maybe well you would assume that then by the time they would get their way out of state no it would put there should be a practical understanding of what our rights are in a democratic society and when people do not know that when people don't know that an individual has a right to be told what the charges are against him or her that they don't know or is that they're willing to give them up or taken away from certain i don't think anyone willingly gives up their rights they just trust that the government will do the right thing by them and we have found in the past both in democrat and republican administrations that governments tend to graft power but now the ultimate power usurps due process puts the government in a row where they can actually point to a finger of death and so on one engine zap somebody well you know what i mean you know it's not just saying i don't like it so except to go in a free society and we've got to watch what's happening what's happening is the very

constitutional guarantees that form we the people the social compact where we agree on a on our responsibilities and our rights. it's been destroyed we must speak out against this we must challenge the attorney general when he makes statements such as he did and we must challenge a president united states who would assume for himself the ability to have the power of life and death over individuals in visioning a worldwide combat. arena this is very dangerous what about the other course that we're hearing and terms of hitting a war drum towards some kind of military conflict with iran on one hand you have the administration in a president who if you ask me i still think that he's left too many doors open right because he still says that we won't hesitate to use military force that we will do everything we can to prevent iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon but he's asking for a little bit of time that you think that those that are the loudest critics will

get their way it's always important remember and i know the way that you cover news you're mindful of this there are a number of things that are happening simultaneously with the president is warning apac. don't you know don't don't encourage just loose talk of war this report comes out of the national journal today breaking news the pentagon panetta pentagon planning for potential iran strikes so we say one thing and do another the very fact that preparations are being made for a strike gets us closer to a war now this war a war against iran will be unlike any other war we've been it because iran has the ability to strike back we have to stop using war as an instrument of policy we have to stop talking about wars so it was inevitable the very fact of this discussion of

the inevitability of war. becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy and so then war curse. you know if you read ken follett book the fall of giants you'll see that ordinary people were caught up in world war one and this extraordinary occasion of a war that affected continents across the globe we are on the threshold of a situation where ordinary people by the millions could be drawn into a conflict that would be a cataclysm for our world we must not have a war against iran we must not attack or who you think might face you as. you know sometimes you see a story and it seems so you think you understand it and then you glimpse something

else you hear or see some other part of it and realize that everything is off. the top of our local pacific. wealthy british style sun it's time to. market why not. find out what's really happening to the global economy with much stronger no holds barred look at the global financial headlines tune into kinds reports.

should give us pause as american citizens because if someone who is trying to let us know what's happening that we've been being told one thing and there's another truth and there's a truth out there and if he's being punished for that. we need to we need to reassess we are as a nation he takes a risk and as a moral matter he feels an obligation to some minute then there are some consequences there but the consequences are to put his life on the line and we must ask why is life in the chain we must ask why is this information so so important that it be kept quiet that the government's deceptions also may be. being kept quiet and why should someone have to have to have their life on the line for exposing government deception well there is a lot of good questions there right as that can we trust our government anymore something we're proud of really it's you know it's the people people do they give

us trust of the government now to take life away from us citizens and it's not just about democrats it's not just about republicans but it's been done by this administration so should this president be reelected based on all the things that he's done this isn't about just this president it's about our responsibility to settling out it's still an election is coming out to see it it will be and there is you know it may be an issue in the election it may not. i mean of course of course. you know the white house must be held accountable for its conduct of office with respect to the constitution and basic rights of people but also you know some of the things that are being covered up i believe are policies that extend back prior to this administration so people need to know the truth if the truth shall set us free then than false hoods imprison us they bind us to conditions which of ignorance and so we need to know the truth and those who are the truth tellers

the streets of d.c. to tell people in the nation's capital what our viewers had to say on you tube facebook and twitter and see which comments we should keep or delete some of. them from. mitt romney believes that for profit colleges are a way to bring down costs in higher education but that really hasn't been the case so far so do you think for profit universities are the way of the future i'm going to read your response from fred what he said for profit everything will be the way the future schools roads police jails you're on your own is taking over if you want to keep it or delete i guess i would delete it i don't think it has to be that extreme i think but there can be a nice balance to read your response from have been having worked in financial aid for the majority of my college career hell no they should not receive an ounce of federal funding and should in no way be the future and keep it or delete or. delete it i don't think colleges should get paid for teaching society you mean. that's

what their job is to do you think that for profit colleges are a way of the future christopher on facebook he said if they are efficient in affordable why not do you want to keep it or delete it to leave it i think that the way institutions have been built in the us have worked efficiently so mitt romney believes that for profit colleges are way to bring down higher education costs but that really hasn't been the case so far so do you think that for profit colleges are a way in the future if they are efficient and affordable why not do you want to keep it or delete it and believe it. again efficient affordable but. that's kind of pinned on who you're talking to and it may be affordable for some but not for others while mitt romney has in the past invested in fund supporting for profit colleges and thinks it's a way to go not everyone seems convinced that making a profit means providing a better education. to. our

credit payments during trial modifications and intentionally misled homeowners about their eligibility for the program letting just enough modifications go through to avert the suspicion of the shady picture and it raises a lot of questions about all the new assistance that the of a supposed to provide for the recent fraud foreclosure settlement so joining me from our studio to discuss it in new york is matt stoler fellow at the roosevelt institute matt thanks so much for joining us tonight and i don't know i guess maybe we can't be all that shocked these days anymore when we hear the another bank or maybe specifically bank of america did something that was shady but you know lying to people i would say the government that's pretty bad. yeah i mean it what it what it is is it's evidence that there hasn't been a thorough investigation of the status of the mortgage market what's going on so this settlement the fact that there's a whistleblower complaint that's unsealed recently showing enormous problems in the

mortgage market shows that what we really need to do is be investigating what's happening instead of you know putting putting terms on what releases banks. but it's also isn't the first you know thing that we've heard from a whistleblower to there is something else earlier this year that had to do with countrywide which of course they now owns so if you had to guess other a lot more stories out there like this the things that just haven't been unsealed you know i mean the economy was you know it was some chunk of the economy a significant chunk was based on fraud there was a loss of five to seven trillion dollars of homeowner equity from two thousand and six to two thousand and ten and you know a lot of it was appraisal fraud and securitization fraud in the origination fraud etc etc there are hundreds of thousands of people who were involved in it obviously there are a lot more whistleblowers who could come forward probably will come forward and what's going to happen is going to become increasingly embarrassing to the attorney generals who signed on to the settlement to the administration should the d.o.j. etc etc the fact that they haven't actually fix the problem or even that they don't understand the scope of the problem let's start with what it is that bank of

america is going to have to do you with this settlement to write the embarrassment night comic as you can say in the long term or in the mid-term for the attorneys general here but in the meantime can you give us some more detail as to what exactly it is that bank of america is going to have to deal. well i i wish i could put these settlement documents are not public so so and there is apparently last i saw there is no term sheet there's a settlement in principle and what the banks are saying overall is on their on their f.c.c. document says well this settlement in principle does x.y.z. and the attorneys generals and the j. and shaun donovan of hud they're all talking about the settlement but that's actually a lie there is no settlement there is no set of documents that have been finalized so well while shaun donovan can get up and say well they have americal have to do this or that or the other thing we don't actually know what these banks are going to have to do and what we're giving up to get them to do that until we see the

documents i think it's absolutely outrageous that we are talking these are hidden from the public even as they have announced well actually we don't know if they exist but they have announced a settlement but it's not clear there is a settlement yet it's crazy i'm sorry it's there's really no other way to put it now don't apologize it makes perfect sense to me to do it it sounds outrageous to me but then you know what excuse is there are legal reasoning and they try to offer for that. you know i mean no one's putting pressure on obama around this i mean for iraq obama's policies on financial reform have been you know a series of dishonest extend and pretend schemes and anybody who's worked in financial services policy up close knows about this there's multiple trillions of dollars at stake and the fact is that the republicans are owned by the banks and the democrats are only maybe partially owned by the banks but they don't want to jeopardize barack obama's reelection so they're not talking about this if you notice in the election there are no housing finance issues being discussed even

though foreclosures are the main drag on the economy and this is a this is a political crisis at this point i mean it's not obvious right now but we saw occupy wall street we saw tea party we've seen wave election after wave elections since two thousand and six and it's not going to stop until you know there's some sort of new contract put in place between the american people in their government. well you know if you want to talk about but i was three is trying to push for this movement to break up and they banks especially to break up bank of america which seems kind of like wishful thinking at this point but if you had to envision a new contract between the people and the government would be a step in it. well that's a possibility i mean you know you could see a much more socially equitable set of arrangements but you know it's also just as likely that what you'll see is a far more militarized authoritarian state where you know where we're property rights don't exist unless you have political power and that's you know that's you

see sort of occupy you also saw the paramilitary forces that were used to destroy their tent cities so you know it's it could go either way and i think that it's a really really scary. potential divergence in terms of how the country will go over the globe and you know you see it all over the world now. but it's really scary and what's what's what's worse it's not even being discussed in the presidential race right now yeah i definitely agree with that and you know we definitely notice when these issues are not discussed in the presidential race but i think that that's the way they like it and of course they the rest of the media plays along to what matt thanks so much for joining us tonight thank you. i cannot after the break are you one of the millions of people that are blocks from the documentary about joseph created by the group invisible children of today of this test the goals of that campaign and if the filmmakers are being truthful with us i suppose i found something.
