avenue i'll tell you about this nefarious and deadly plan in tonight's deleting. you need to know this the backlash against paul ryan's radical budget plan continues a number of faith leaders have come forward to blast ryan's vision for america which forces forty eight million americans to lose their health insurance while giving a three trillion dollars tax cut to the top one percent in america he should gene robinson of the diocese of new hampshire said about the budget plan the riot ryan budget robs the poor the marginalized and the vulnerable of the safety net so integral to their survival by any measure of civility and regard for one's neighbors it's an immoral disaster ryan's plan also hands medicare over the for profit health insurance c.e.o.'s and makes massive cuts in social security setting

the stage to give social security's two point six trillion dollar trust fund to wall street banks toure's and wonder millionaires and billionaires are reportedly been seen wearing what would paul ryan and you raise lots but the elder. leave the poor and the sick aren't the only ones who will feel the wrath of the ryan budget so too will federal workers ryan budget freezes federal worker pay and says it's going to lay off ten percent of the federal workforce this is just the latest blow to public sector workers have been demonized by republicans at both the state and federal levels ever since the two thousand and ten midterm elections here's the bigger picture change take a look at this at this chart this just lays the whole thing up this is a change in public sector jobs government jobs the red line is the bush administration said throughout the bush administration he was continually adding government employee jobs which stimulates the economy during the obama administration we've actually been losing government jobs which drags the economy

the veterans administration social security workers and these cuts are draconian they are huge to the bone we've already been downsized and have been and working on efficiencies throughout the government but when you say you're going to freeze federal pay for another three years you're going to gut their pension forty percent out of their pensions cut ten percent this is dismantlement of vital programs and then in the same breath say that you're going to give a tax cut to the one percent rates really and bucks three trillion bucks and take it out of medicare and social security and medicaid. i you know it's it's really staggering the vision for america. and what astounds me is like yesterday morning. morning joe was having this conversation with orion and they were they were all but holding each other kissing i mean you know it was just it's like the media the

progressive caucus a year ago presented a budget that actually would balance the budget within twenty years would have improved and strengthen the social safety net kept our federal workforce in place we raised taxes on millionaires and billionaires and got no mention in the press you know this budget which has no chance of probably even getting out of its own committee is like wall to wall what's the deal well there's a schizophrenia going on we've lost eight million jobs in this recession and it's a very fragile recovery and it's it's just incredible how and now we're going back to deficit reduction which is going to cost more jobs and we just have to stop it again if we get those jobs back up those eight million jobs back up that will take care of the revenue we can we can deal with our deficit we're trying to take care of this deficit which huge cuts like this you know is just going after the jobs we have and then attacking them rather than creating new ones and i think it's exactly the wrong thing to do well and government john you were talking about poultry

inspectors that's pretty bad you know three chickens a second but you know there's tens of thousands of americans who get food poisoning every year as it is we need more inspectors a lot of it and i think i think some of the some of the agencies are going to be a you know you'll hear you heard ryan say well obama put on one hundred fifty five thousand federal employees well over fifty thousand were the fence workers that ryan was in favor of thirty some thousand were be a workers some social security and some border patrol all of which mr ryan was in favor of but then to come up in a very hypocritical way and say that obama put on one hundred fifty five thousand federal workers is just just just incredible those those positions were desperately needed. we have two wars going on we have just an incredible. stress on the v.a. with our with our men and women coming back and of course the favorite republican montra of the border patrol and i think i think president obama has done a pretty

a pretty fair job in keeping the agencies running and i think that's that's where we are right now this budget would would dismantle the programs we dismantle this is not about waste and abuse this is down to the poor hitting at the v.a. getting out of social security that's where the you know these guys want to turn so scary over to they want goldman sachs to mr president putting his money to be made you know it's good to have trillion bucks not president i just think the american public really has to see that it's these government services when you say well the private sector can do it all that does is bring in the profit motive. taxpayers' money and that you're going to take your fifteen or twenty percent out in profit and do a worse job a bad job not as sore as not as it would seem at all if you're in a safe so you know where the country is thanks so much for being with us and i can really appreciate it john thank you. now let's turn it over to the rubble.

the primary and then we just have the i just can't really shake this thing up or in the general manner of the focus on the things we focus on before it's something that like shock a lot of republicans today and democrats obviously took when they said well this is kind of exciting this is a this is obvious but look this is something that you would think that santorum or gingrich is campaign came up with and no it wasn't either their campaigns or was one of romney's strategists who was speaking as a strategist who should have said something like that in a closed room as opposed to in front of a national audience it was like watching it isn't it isn't it true what he said i mean there's a long history i'm frankly in both parties not pandering to the base and then moving to the well i think there's a history of selling your conservative credentials when you're appealing to conservative voters or to liberal voters in the case of a democratic candidate and then selling your moderate or centrist credential when you're trying to capture that you know those covered independents in the general so you know i don't know it's probably not the word i would use i would say you emphasize different parts of your platform depending on which voter group you're

trying to you also he said this one and that was this one and i think that's right but i think romney's issue as you kind of just pointed out is that romney has to convince people that he's authentic enough just on his conservative principles and over the last having a variety of principles that he can express well this is this is this is the thing i'm genuinely curious about you know rather than beating you guys i'd love to hear what you have to say in the minute half we have left and that is will romney be able to when he started. tacking to the center will conservatives say to themselves oh well i remember what he said when he was talking just to me and he's just saying this because he has to get elected or will they start thinking you know when he was talking to me he was just saying back because he wanted to get through the primaries which way is that i've has two sides i think there's a risk that you know i think voters want to see an authentic candidate they want to see a candidate who sticks by a certain set of principles and you know i know you wouldn't agree with me on this tom but i think the american people appreciate a you know a strong center right position people who are good people appreciate somebody who

essentially the status quo at least when it comes to entitlement reform keep medicare in place and keep social security and medicare of waste when the chief actuary says it could be insolvent as soon as twenty sixteen and that's something for a drug that's something that the treasury secretary timothy geitner acknowledged to the recent hearing on the hill he said we know these programs are not so great really got you know where you are going to go and you're right he said and we said we don't have a plan to fix it but we know we don't like yours is what he was well because you are going to have an uphill battle in some of the say on this i mean you mentioned how do you win but that's not only with the measure it is about at least according to ryan ryan's plan is to actually like kind of correct the country so that to take a little bit more nuance to sell the program and democrats are going to help there's not a look inside his eyes you're going to hear now that early on when it's republicans on the budget committee now tragically the republicans in the budget committee who are going on with this appear to not go along with it because it doesn't cut off and it wasn't good enough tax breaks to millionaires and you have to is there is there any to do is there any silver lining for you in that you see that he's

attempting to close tax loopholes to i mean that's something that what has bipartisan support paul ryan has in his plan his plan to bring down corporate taxes you mentioned that but it was not mentioned often a democrat the democratic talking points to not to mention the fact that tax whole tax loopholes are being cut as well so the idea is if you cut tax opals you can bring down tax credits actually rules on the oil industry the coal industry the natural gas industry or the nuclear industry they're all maintaining massive government subsidies he wants to cut the tax loopholes for the solar industry as well the subsidies you're referring to for oil and gas companies these are tax breaks that exist for big factory companies not all of them my point is he's really nationalistic just to order or just for general electric let's say because they didn't pay the taxes last year and you're going to see companies like filed a nine foot high tax rate and that's exactly the system that he's looking to get rid of and i think that's i recall something with that. said two point five three trillion well that you cited right at the outset doesn't take into. the fact that the base is being brought so you know that it was in other words more poor people

are having to pay for no no we're talking about corporations that were i mean the reason that the tax revenue federal tax revenue has never been more than twenty one percent of g.d.p. even when the top tax rate was up you know ninety percent is that in the wealthy and these large corporations find ways they find these loopholes they find actually if you if you go back and look during the eisenhower administration during the kennedy administration during the johnson nixon administrations and each other during that period time basically right up until the next administration the total of federal income total receipt of tax dollars about thirty five percent of it was a kind of for about corporate taxes now it's about eight percent between eight eleven percent and here we go because the recession and you know this is just corporations gone you know just leisure's and there's an incentive obviously to get it back to a point i was a corporation to rely on or generalize revenue from corporations providing tax revenue by actually welcoming companies back into the united states by virtue of

a lower tax rate that is accommodating to those companies doing below what and what you're talking about is saying to apple that's. hundreds of billions or you know it's not hundreds of billions it's worth forty two billion fifty four billion something like that in offshore money yeah bring that money back on a we'll give you a tax holiday whereas if they had made that money in the united states they certainly made it selling in the united states paid made that money employing people as if they want to pay taxes on the fact that that money comes back into the american economy even if that money itself is not taxed creates more economic activity is there only if it's apple will probably build another factory in china and this isn't a this isn't just a tax game this is a wealth game i mean clearly if the economy creates wealth tax revenue comes in even if the rates are lower that's obviously the economy with these bizarre attacks or these bizarre trade was is not creating well if you can you know adam smith want to one and you create wealth when you take a tree limb and you carve it into an axe handle only manufacturing radar down. pressure is now a grads percent of our enterprise addressing trade problems for you not some of the

rest of our it is that unless they're talking about i would have my policy proposal and you would have your ideal policy proposal but what needs to be looked at is what's on its people really this is what paul ryan is proposing is cuts to the social safety net and tax cuts for the very very rich and it's just like saying well you're going to it's also it's heresy it's not just it's cuts for the very very rich i mean the it's two rates ten percent of twenty five percent but ten percent is significantly lower then even what the top of the income tax bracket is right now it's moving toward a flat tax which is even more regressive it's going to get even more people in the middle of the bottom and it's good dropping the top tax rate for millionaires and billionaires and my question is how can the republican party win when their their head cheerleader is out there saying we're the party of the rich because there's an appetite for reform republicans have that have that in that there's the tea party movement which is now actually transitioned into somewhat of a political movement they probably will get behind whatever whoever the inevitable

republican candidate is has an appetite for this country getting on the right track forty million it is best of all if you know we can do it on armies mouth mouthpiece and you get this multimillionaire better and why then is that in voter fraud entitlements so what you're talking about reforming i don't see the idea of cutting metal cutting medicare social security when you say it ends these programs as we know it you haven't used that term but it's something that's commonly used by progressive by liberals to lampoon republicans or the truth is it's ending yes our program the way it's constructed has led to the greatest contributor to the debt obviously if something was the norm and the reason is bush administration appointees and the ones who it say in the can't i don't. even came eyes wandered off and zillion dollar but your original question can be with you on this you know i think it's going it's a very interesting question and i think we're going to find out and this is what congressman ryan says is you know i'm putting this option out there the american people can choose which path they want to. number one i just cuts to medicaid

a controversy and when you teach these issues you will use the word controversy and there's no controversy scientists are you know. the world of the scientists who are being paid for by the koch brothers or exxon mobil scientists say you know anthropogenic human made global warming is happening it's a problem it's going to it has a potential be it is that you're right there is no controversy that humans emit carbon that carbon is a greenhouse gas that greenhouse gases warm the planet the issue is to what degree does it one of the kind of the many i know it's there's no controversy about whether the world was created six thousand years ago and in tennessee also laws that taught that there's a controversy about whether humans have been on the earth has existed for more than sixty five hundred years. so that means you're going to basically those attitudes weren't science makes my head explode you know but what's true is that you do have parents who by proxy these schools are meant to be educational institutions for parents who are trying to go their job. and one of things they can reasonably
