taking care of business in the brazilian way as president dilma rousseff pays a visit to the u.s. here's the question should president obama be taking notes from his latin american counterpart before the two thousand and twelve elections will explore. and the line between copy right and wrong that might be getting a little boring these days i thought thanks to a new california judge who blocked an attempt to prosecute alleged illegal downloads so is this the end of store bought d.v.d.'s and c.d.'s as we know it. and here's a question for you if you knew that the markets were going to collapse in two thousand and eight do you have taken your money out of wall street and the answer is probably. but here's
4:01 pm
a new one for you researchers at mit are predicting an armageddon light of global economic collapse and that's coming sooner than you think. it is monday april ninth four pm in washington d.c. i'm christine and watching r t well president of brazil dilma rousseff is in town today and she comes at a time of the changing geopolitical landscape brazil has now overtaken the u.k. as the world's sixth largest economy and along with the other brics countries russia india china and south africa has set in motion a movement of backing away from the dollar as the world currency also making a lot of decisions independent of the west now truth of it is in many ways seen as the ambassador of bricks she's also this is also the first day that directors of the world bank. begin meeting candidates to become the presidents of the world bank
4:02 pm
now typically whoever is nominated by the us is the one that's chosen the thing might be changing there have been eleven world bank's presidents so far and they've all been americans but president obama of course did nominate an american he nominated dartmouth college president dr jim yong kim who also co-founded a non-governmental organization that focuses on getting hiv and aids treatments to some of the world's poorest now there's also jose antonio counsel a professor at columbia university the former minister fine of finance in colombia the dominican republic formally nominated him for the world bank position and then there is also the own go job it whale of a finance minister for nigeria she was a managing director at the world bank and if chosen she would be the world bank's first female president and i should mention south africa has already declared that it would be backing her and i want to talk about all these items with eva golinger a lawyer and also with expertise on some of these matters that are even the brics
4:03 pm
countries they've said that they have wanted to speak with a unified voice and back one candidate for world bank president they haven't made that decision yet but as i mentioned south africa already said it will be back a candidate from nigeria what do you expect these other countries to do and what message do you think they're hoping to send. well certainly they're going to most likely back a candidate that's not a u.s. candidate and in large part that's to break away from what's been the u.s. domination over the world economy but also over the whole political environment and we've seen this growing movement of work what some call a multi-polar polar islam around the world and where there's no longer one country that's going it's just the united states who's setting the agenda for everybody else but rather countries are making decisions on a more respectful basis where there's consensus and where there's agreement amongst nations that everyone have some kind of participation and cooperation in what's going on so i think that will certainly seem
4:04 pm
a candidate nominee from what some would consider the south southern asia is even though they're not all necessarily so other nations but and the emerging economies in nations that are becoming more powerful around the world and that the u.s. is going to happen have to really make a decision whether or not they want to become an equal player in world affairs or do they want to maintain this sort of imperialism agenda and keep trying to impose their will against others a lot talking about this current relationship between the u.s. and brazil are a whole lot of people are wondering as sort of about the lack of red carpet treatment here for president rousseff there was no state dinner no big celebration what do you think this is all about. it could be a mix of factors well i mean it could be a decision made on the side of washington for some reason and they're not giving the same type of treatment to the brazilian president but i would actually have to
4:05 pm
say that part of it could be made a request made on behalf of the brazilian president dilma rousseff is a very low key humble person who doesn't like anything and fair and every place she's visited she's always asked for just the really minimal treatment whatsoever and no fancy dinner as there are hotels or big deals made out of her visit in that sense but rather getting down to the dirty work of what needs to get done at the same time i mean this is also you have to remember the delmas visit to the united states comes after she's visited several other countries in latin america and some of those being adversaries such as venice well are at least political adversaries and the united states was not on the top of her agenda whereas on the other hand brazil was on the top of obama's agenda and he visited last year in march and one of his first visits to night america it was this is the first stop so i mean there
4:06 pm
could be some stuff going on there in terms of getting back in retaliation against the brazilian government because they haven't made a relationship with the united states a priority certainly a lot of people are looking at that and saying pointing out what you pointed out which is that visit to venezuela pointing out the visit to cuba also kind of looking at what happened back in two thousand and ten brazil did join with turkey to vote against sanctions for iran at the u.n. certainly that was another thing that u.s. leaders weren't necessarily happy with but there are other people and let's talk about this really quick i mean in what ways are has that relationship improved over the last few years. the relationship with the united states when the united states and brazil well i mean it's improved it's always been a pretty good relationship i think there even during the time of the previous president released last year that it was a relationship that was very cordial was still a strong relationship at the same time brazil has been growing as
4:07 pm
a power not just not in america but around the world as you were pointing out before and so it's trying to distance itself from sort of being underneath the power of the united states the relationship continues to grow in terms of cooperation are there the two presidents are discussing all kinds of stuff in the area of science and technology cooperation spatial cooperation economic cooperation social issues that they'll be caught reading on education reducing poverty things like that at the same time brazil has a specific agenda it matters that it has been very insisting she will on this and this visit or continue to request that the united states backwards eels move to get a seat on a united nations security council and a permanent seat back and the united states the obama administration has given no sign whatsoever that they're going to back brazil on that issue whereas they have in the case of india for example so there are some issues that are very tense between the two countries and then there is the relationship brazil has had with
4:08 pm
iran there was a relationship brazil that has in that region as being a member of us who are being a member of state like these new emerging in entities in latin america of mutual cooperation most nations without which the united states is completely excluded so i think that you know another issue that's going on there and at the same time this is actually a more important visit for president obama than it is for president rousseff because next weekend is the summit of the americas it takes place in colombia and the u.s. is really on the outs in latin america and nobody wants to be meeting with in these types of meetings any more with the united states where they're excluding kind. three centrist cuba right the united states is still making a play to try to ease relations or increase relations with countries like brazil that have serious influence over others in the region to say hey we're there we're still there france so we should be your friends jim i think it's interesting over that you pointed out there's desire by brazil to have a permanent seat on the u.n.
4:09 pm
security council the u.s. again did back india in that and it's interesting because we could just see the brics countries need to i think it was last week maybe we can have it i'm not sure . what to too much came out of the one day meeting but i do know that they sort of stood firm on a lot of things together one of which they say they oppose any sort of outside intervention in the situation in syria. and so it's really a tough time right now and i'm wondering what you think i mean is this something that this desire for a permanent seat on the u.n. security council is something that could be used you know as a bartering tool to sort of. get that relationship together sort of you craft my back i'll scratch yours but so far and like i said before washington is given no sign whatsoever that it would even consider backing brazil for a permanent seat on the security council and brazil has opposed the intervention in syria the aggression against syria the resolutions the u.s.
4:10 pm
has been trying to push and also and an absentee vote in the case of libya. and was vocally opposed to the war in libya and what the u.s. was engaging in against the government could argue so we've seen some of these different issues come up over the past few years where brazil is taking a stance on international issues that goes against u.s. agenda so why would the united states want to country like that democrats are liberal on the security council they're already got only now against russia and china so they want maybe to run a country like india because they think for some reason that they can get india under their arm and he would be more likely to take their side and just roll back i want. just take a look at brazil right now development there over the last ten years has been massive crime is way down from what i understand that has a seventy seven percent approval rating. in some ways you think maybe president obama would you know say concrete talk to me give me some advice how are you doing this i mean do you think about going on at all well it would be hard to imagine
4:11 pm
a united states president asking for advice on how to govern from a latin american leader that would be a great game i think third world affairs in particular for us latin american relations for that to happen but certainly president does have a line to keep the united states as other than american countries to an end and the government under a generous act which is a continuation of the previous government terms of their social policy has been achieving extraordinary results and are really reduction in crime reduction and as you were saying in overall well being for the country and and progress and doing so in a way where it's not jeopardizing or compromising the social values of the country and social programs like what's happening in the united states they're not cutting back on social programs they're not cutting back on workers benefits they're making sure all of those are still in place because those are very important issues in terms of overall well being of a nation and prosperity not just economic but also for the people of the country
4:12 pm
and certainly one reason probably why she has been so popular appreciate your insight on this in new york city eva golinger a lawyer and author. well we want to talk now about the latest case dealing with companies using the internet to make money but then trying to punish those who have figured out a way to get around paying for that service and thermos in this case is pornography and the case is called the hard drive productions and forces does it one at ninety three is what happened the company hard drive productions and spent two months monitoring illegal downloads of their triple x. rated movie amateur allure the company then took the ip addresses of those who illegally downloaded them they asked the. courts to give the company the names that links to those numerical internet i.d.'s the judge said no judge howard lloyd said the court realizes that this decision may frustrate plaintiff and other compu right holders who quite understandably wish to curtail online infringement of their works unfortunately it would appear that the technology that enables compu right
4:13 pm
infringement had outpaced technology that prevents it. i want to bring in andrew blake one of the writers on our team tag team to talk about that then my first question is that i ask you this i think this is the question on everyone's mind i mean does this mean that we can now download whatever we want never really been able to download if we want it's certainly a good step in the right direction but i would even go as far as to say that it's good news it's more of just not bad news and when you say it's up in the right direction obviously it's not a step in the right direction for music companies and movie companies important companies who want to keep their products you know for sale instead they're just going to keep getting their products distributed to a wider and wider audience and usually people are going to in turn go and purchase those and still drives a profit so. they're looking for pay off in the immediate future going to california saying i don't think so he's saying that a lot of these alleged shares of copper and material. were not not not sure is
4:14 pm
a copyrighted material and so what it's doing is making the internet more open for a lot of people to go ahead and do what they want but outfielders are going to be persecuted for crimes that they didn't actually commit judge seems to think that if production's is given the ip addresses and identities of these people they're going to go ahead and try to get them to settle out of court which if history is any precedent is what always happens in these cases where there is right there are let's say on this case for a second i was sort of talk about some broader implications the judge as you said he said that he believed the company hard drive productions was trying to use the courts that it had no desire to actually litigate but instead wanted to pursue. you know an extra judicial judicial business plan i think if that were. again these possible infringers so break this down for me from what i understand the company would still be able to sort of individually go after some of these people but they want it's way too much work for them and the judge realize that what usually happens is copyright cases and whether it's porn or music or any sort of copper material is that the copyright holder goes after the iowa state internet service
4:15 pm
provider who in turn goes after the customer and the attorneys do for the plaintiff in the end they say hey we're going to take you to court and it's going to really stink but if you give us a few thousand dollars will go away and we're going to settle most people's i mean the internet's a better around long enough now but still most people don't really know how to handle these cases because not everyone gets faced with copyright infringement lawsuit such as most people know about what they're doing is wrong. they just don't expect. most people will go get the cheapest or even find drop three grand fees spend another three grand settling with some major billion dollar corporation and then they won't use their internet ever again because they're going to be scared very very very scared and. that's what they thought was going to happen there's a saying well you're going to take these people and you're not going to take them to court you're not going to bother you're just going to get some money out of them right now and you can't prove that these are the people that did it and it looks fantastic for anyone with an internet connection but there's so much other stuff
4:16 pm
like you're saying it's going on right now oh yeah that's right i mean this case in california was seen as a victory for those who believe you know that the internet should be free and open society but you know we sort of got us with by the stop island online piracy act act people took notice of this they spoke out against it but this is not by any means the end of cases like this talk a little bit about some the other things are still out there right now when there was a whole sopa and pipe a backlash some of them late twenty levon this really this year before those bills were eventually just laid to rest people were terrified that they were actually going to be enacted and be authorized the internet as we knew it was just going to be just destroyed the story. that good freedoms that we enjoy doing that for the absolutely retailed made an arranger and there was such a tremendous backlash that this congressman change their stance the company has backed off their support and two months later and they seem to think that the internet forgot that it was threatened versus along and already these new
4:17 pm
legislations are being proposed are going to be way more harsh than. ever so what if what are some of the biggest ones out there on just was going to be the biggest only looking at right now with congress look you know bunch of cyber security legislation that will more or less let the government do whatever they want the internet not that they can't already but it's going to it's going to it's going to cover their ass a little bit more it's going to say oh yes you can get away with doing that yes i'm doing that terrible thing and if it if it becomes a reality it's going to just destroy a lot of the freedoms of the internet as with the case with sokol and people people were prepared enough to go out there and very early against them hold protests hold the whole online blackouts of various pacs and they were by within days so hyper it's completely gone but people kind of forgot about it moved on it's been months into the future and things are already creeping back up under different names so while this case in california and the hard drive productions are going to be left
4:18 pm
crying a little bit and so you're going to be able to download or feel like they're ok with letting other people download from their internet connections that's that's great news but really it's just it's just a small victory really in the grand scheme of things because there's still a lot of things that anyone uses the internet in america should be weary of yet we should point out not only is that about the ability to do these things there's also sort of the notion of what we're seeing for example in great britain where they are about to pass a law that's going to allow their security agencies to sort of spy on and it's also a matter of privacy and those are issues that are certainly a big deal something to watch out for we appreciate your insight into the problem sometimes it's hard to understand all this stuff to answer like our team web writer and if you want to read more about this attempt to prosecute alleged downloads of copyrighted material and you wrote an article about it on our website just go to our dot com slash usa for all the details. now i want to turn to a study that is both groundbreaking and controversial it was written by some
4:19 pm
researchers at mit the massachusetts institute of technology and they use those computer models to come up with potential future scenarios so if for example human beings continue to consume resources like oil food fresh water at the same rate or increase rate it outlined how that would impact the population in terms of global wealth famine and disease and it basically predicts that the breaking point will come in twenty thirty that's not that far away so i want to talk about this with radio host alex jones him and his team out in her wars have taken notice of this study they've written a lot about it and alice of course this is very similar to a study that was released back in the seventy's. talk to me it was a zombie. well you just stole my thunder of thank you for having me. the the club of rome team at mit in one nine hundred seventy published the limits to growth it was given huge fanfare about life magazine she b s news that by the year two thousand our entire industrial society would collapse and we'd see in the next
4:20 pm
decade an eighty percent population reduction if you look at the graph they have three different future scenarios that run from sixty five percent population reduction to over ninety percent so it runs from bad to worse and it's the very same group of eugenicist promoting the fact that the big government has to come in and clamp down on resources and basically return us to a feudal state or the earth will basically collapse and then we'll die but really if you study what the club of rome un and others have promoted more a strong ted turner is artificially cutting off our resources through artificial scarcity and what they've been billing and pushing as austerity to make us poor is a political tool of controls what they're not telling us they tried to break the capitalist free market system that produced more wealth than any other system in
4:21 pm
history no one denies that now they've got a crony capitalist model goldman sachs and others that finance the club of rome they want to sell us on being their feudal slaves kind of like the hunger games for real and so they're getting us ready for the collapse of the economy and claiming it's our fault when really very engineering it they are saying the club of rome a connected son of the large oil corporations and the pay actually have. it to their benefit that people continue to cut back and think that the end of the world is coming a lot sooner than it is. yeah that's it goldman sachs and others the big six banks have created one point five trillion they got their governments to sign on to their over a thousand trillion in fake garbage fake paper and now everywhere they're saying greece you've got to raise your taxes cut your benefits to pay your debts and ninety two percent of the greek debt it turns out is other people's dead not the great people same thing in ireland same thing in iceland but they said no same thing in our country it's just the all of darks club of rome actually writes that
4:22 pm
they want to bring in a political system of feudalism so we're so poor underneath feudalism that we can't even. finance our own lives so that we're basically slaves to these elites so they want to post industrial world maurice strong who started all this with the rockefeller foundation has set on record they want to destroy our society make us poor i mean if i go to whole foods in downtown austin they've got magazines everywhere saying it's trendy to be poor it's wonderful they say that depression is good for our carbon footprint to make it smaller it's wonderful that all this is happening i mean in the club of rome documents they say then they need to have shock treatment to destroy the economies of third world nations and old world nations to make them adopt population control measures well it's it's it's not really shocking to me i don't really know much about the club of rome and it's not talking that certain think tanks have things that benefit them and their funders
4:23 pm
and founders more than others but the fact is when you talk about you know the youth of resources of fresh water of oil these are things that a it's just then a simple math equation the more the population grows and the more the thing they're used i mean are you thought of downplaying if i could this is in fact a problem. elites since the time of plato two thousand three hundred years ago have said the world over populated the great philosophers so they need to start killing the poor people as they were overpopulated and crushing the breast of mother earth was the quote by plato and we heard the same thing two hundred fifty years ago by mouth as hitler said the same thing they're telling us fresh water is not renewable that's not true fresh water is renewable in some areas people build in the desert they run out like phoenix sure they say trees aren't renewable they are renewable oil it's now showing it is in a most cases not coming from dinosaur you know oil or blood it but is actually
4:24 pm
being produced inside the crust in the mantle of the earth we've got enough coal to run the united states for several thousand years they have clean burning says limbs and the elites themselves it's a good point you make though they are suppressing the development of clean and free energy systems to keep us on their fossil fuel system then they want to create artificial scarcity and planned obsolescence to enslave us so this is the monopoly men waging war against the free market and creating artificial scarcity through the un budget in twenty one system but regarding this this older study i mean we have this this one a rethinking of it regarding this order study that sort of predicted over the last forty years what was going to happen on sunday from the things that they predicted forty years ago are actually happening i in terms of where we are in population and levels of food and hunger and things like that what do you have to say to that i mean the fact that they are thought to write herman for well they actually have to
4:25 pm
disagree with you the club of rome ninety five percent of it or more is pure bull they said we had an ice age by the year two thousand and then added work in the ninety's as it was local warming now is that climate change period they say is unnatural taxpayers pay hundreds of billions a year to pay u.s. farmers not to grow their programs in africa paying people not to grow the state department. in random two hundred stated in the seventies that they would stir up wars and fund rebels to destabilize africa and latin america show they would starve it couldn't produce you see what you see african starving they've been driven out of their lands like globalist funded groups like in the case of uganda out of their country or somalia for that matter or even tanzania they've been driven out and then driven into the desert to die in the state program when two hundred kissinger says there's too much resources we need to cut them off and use war famine and other programs the carbon taxes that they wanted on the third world that they try
4:26 pm
to pass two years ago in copenhagen would conservatively cause over a billion dash in the next ten years show they want to cut the resources off artificially to cause starvation populations at seven a half billion if said most actuaries in the next ten years the plane off by twenty twenty three twenty twenty four so at ten billion and start going down the u.s. is dying russia is dying japan is dying we have one point three replacement rates italy is dying is one point two that means for every two parents they have one point three children on average they'll be nobody to pay social security we are collapsing the west is dead and that counts to pay and we're dead it's over we've already reached collapse point because the global it's kept us from having kids and we killed our future generation russia is imploding all right with with with with no population it to pay people to have kids in fact russia is our ally saudi forces and we are out of time i apologize on i think it's interesting
4:27 pm
a lot of want to look at both sides of this to look at the fact that these studies have come out and to kind of see who is to benefit from them coming out alex sound host of the alex jones show in austin texas thanks for having me now coming up next the capital account for let's check in with more live thirty three went on to jenna all right more and it is monday what do you got coming for us it is christine i have big news. baltimore is a rattling our financial market and i'm not talking literally about the bad guy from harry potter but this is the nickname i was single trader reportedly a j.p. morgan that suspected of rattling credit derivatives markets now he's just a guy but what this is symptomatic of is the debate over the outsized risks that investment banks may be taking with stubs that i used that are all taxpayer insured money and that is a debate we're going to get into we're also going to talk unemployment because today markets had a chance to react we're going to step back and look at the big picture and of
