7:00 pm
get ready for a lesson in protesting students in canada are up in arms over a two wish a hike and they're taking it to the streets but still they're only playing paying a fraction of what american students pay so it was a time for students here to use their street smarts to advocate change. you're not yet ready to say i'm an endorser for you but you will at something well as the line says in the wizard of oz and all in good time i think it will help. republicans are rallying around mitt romney albeit reluctantly but hold on one candidate does have a big following and the growing number of delegates will tell you why ron paul is
7:01 pm
still a serious contender in the race. plus i may look like your average five star hotel but it will soon be the setting of a very secret meeting of the mind and the decisions made here could affect people everywhere so what's with all the builder burger secrecy we'll tell you what we can about this who's who of the rich and powerful. as monday april thirtieth seven pm in washington d.c. i'm christine you want to r.t. . today marks day seventy seven of a student strike in combat canada and their anger over the last week or so has turned into loud and in some cases violent action. now these are pictures from last week when the protests really started heating up students they're angry over plans to raise school fees as part of
7:02 pm
a government effort to get the budget deficit under control now on friday can best premiers josher a made an offer to students in an attempt to try to reach a compromise saying that three hundred twenty five dollars per year increase over five years could instead be spread over seven years also said more loans would be made available to students and offered a plan to make repayment of loans after college proportional to income but it's clear that this is not simply about numbers on the signifies is a shift in ideology of education for decades they're being seen as a public good worth funding and supporting students have rejected that package of call the offer insulting so what's next for these protesters who are now numbering in the hundreds of thousands well for more on the situation i was joined earlier by citizen journalist bernard begun yet he laid out for us i just want these students are asking for. well basically they're asking for in the goshi ation and
7:03 pm
negotiations are not taking place right now. the students even proposed mediation and the minister the minister of education answered that she wants students first to vote. or proposal or that you just described and she's asking actually for a secret ballot. asking having some requests this ific requests for students but one student to mention on the very popular t.v. show that on the weekend the ministers own party the liberal party when they have assembly they have votes by show of hands so the minister is just trying to play the teacher here and trying to teach students a lesson in democracy and i don't think she's in a very good position to teach them democracy right now but right now this is our voting and. show it looks like they're not going to be accept the minister's
7:04 pm
proposals like i said a lot of them even call that insulting and looking at these pictures here i mean this is a very big protest you have the majority of quebec students saying you know they always finish their semester but more than one hundred thousand are refusing to attend their classes but you know here in the us it's a little mind boggling to a lot of people three hundred twenty five dollars a year most of us here wouldn't even notice that kind of increase talk a little bit about what the bigger picture is for the students yes the bigger picture is that all those protests. fast allegations of corruption and mismanagement by the government so what the students are saying is that before charging the students more to attend university the government putting its own house in order and what i can give you a couple examples of. the. it was just last week on c.b.c.
7:05 pm
we can even broadcast broadcasting corporation that was. reported there was a report about mismanagement that led to overspending by four hundred thousand dollars in a very small project and that was an example of what the government is doing and mismanaging univers. money in university now is a project for universities and so the students are saying is that there is a lot of overspending in universities. people in the directors of the university are paid huge salaries and it seems i think this is not acceptable another example would be that the government around two thousand and three when it came in power full. of hydro come back hydro come back is a state owned corporation that produces an electricity and come back at
7:06 pm
a very very. advantages rate for citizens and for companies who for example make aluminum and that company sold it for diary and that meant that means right now that about thirty billion dollars not thirty billion dollars thirty billion barrels which is three thousand billion dollars worth of oil. slipped from the hands of the public company and will be basically making people who are already rich even richer and so students are saying if if before we start having to pay more for three shouldn't we should story by recovering the money that should be the public's money that's very interesting i'm not i'm wondering i mean we're looking at pictures right now just so many people in the streets thousand people waiting i mean is it possible that
7:07 pm
the violence that the driving will actually spill across the border. oh no first of all the violence has been in combat. the students have been very diligent as i mentioned earlier there were very popular talk show over the weekend actually the most popular talk show of the french t.v. network of the c.b.c. they are scoring a lot of points in the public opinion they don't need to be violent we have a very good website where you can see videos where the explain it's all in french but explain why why they are asking what they're asking about the same question you just asked me and so they don't need to be violent at all and they are not basically. the police first of all and from a small group of protesters who probably were provoked provoke. agents just by we've seen that in the band just used by the police to turn things into
7:08 pm
a nightmare and i know we just heard the call back the liberal party has decided to move the location of its scheduled general council meeting that was going to take place this week and then moving it out of town and when you think of party leaders are concerned about. well because the problem is that the facts will not go away if you can you can please the students you can send the police in the streets to. protest or peaceful protesters but you won't make the facts disappear and as i said this these protests they place. vast allegations of corruption that have been taking place those we've heard those allegations for years and years now and so the whole population of go back knows that the government is corrupt and has managed this managing. the system basically and so even if it starts saying that. they have for a show of hands for votes and all this is so unimportant to the population the
7:09 pm
vocalization knows the facts more and more so i think the government wants to escape to quiet locations because they don't want to have questions as to who really does appreciate your insight there from comeback sense your front and center there to all the action happening citizen journalist bernard they got a appreciate it my pleasure. all right folks when we hear it r.t. america do our best to bring you a wide range of stories and we put as many as we can into our shows but there's a whole lot more that you don't see here we've got a great web team as well and we want to make sure you're aware also what's hot on the web so i've got our t. web writer and you blake in the newsroom taking a quick break from his hard work and what's what you got cooking today all holos a very very very very busy day over on the web department as i'm sure you know has sure been on the page all day big story of course is tomorrow big strike everywhere over one hundred twenty five cities in america are getting ready for these may day
7:10 pm
protests and i'll be up in new york city reporting for the r.t. web team but today we had a nice little article just giving a preview of what to expect anywhere from seattle washington to washington d.c. how law enforcement is getting ready to handle things and what different activist groups are planning what it's going to be looks like to be a pretty exciting day to matter where you are in america and i know another big story that people are starting to get ready for people are starting to follow is nato the nato summit in chicago coming up what do you got working on that christi that's funny that you should ask me i am working on that in fact what's going to happen is if i'm sure you know there could be a big nato summit in chicago at the end of may we're looking around four weeks from right now and we've already heard different rumors of how law enforcement both federal and local authorities are going to be handling the widespread protests that they're expecting in the city was just revealed in the last couple of days now that the american red cross of milwaukee wisconsin which is around seventy miles north
7:11 pm
of chicago they are preparing for a mass evacuation of the windy city if need be so it looks like it's not just going to be authorities working to ensure everyone safe in chicago but as far away as milwaukee and who knows which other directions are going to be ready to handle what they're saying are a potential emergency oh wow you're good to know i was nowhere never a dull moment here with our web writer artie's andrew blake my pleasure thanks for that ferret you know what's trending on our web site things. well it take a look at the narrowing presidential field as we get ready to head into the month of may which means just six months left before the twenty twelve election all right so rick santorum is out there gingrich is scheduled to back out this week so that leaves just two men mitt romney and ron paul but i think it's fair to say the republican establishment viewpoint as of today can be summed up pretty simply and i'll let president george h.w. bush do that for us i do think kind of hard to get behind me
7:12 pm
and he was reminding me kenny rogers showing you his time window limited time window photo so i think it's time for people to go and get this good. but not everyone thinks it's time to fold and we want to show you some numbers that are emerging and in terms of delegate count though i should say these numbers are a little fluid but here's a look total delegate count on the road to that one thousand one hundred forty four right now romney's got eight hundred forty seven ron paul has got eighty but now the other guys are no longer running we do want to do some other compare and contrast in iowa both met seven delegates in minnesota mitt romney has two ron paul has nine in north dakota romney has seven and ron paul has eight and in maine mitt romney has eleven delegates and ron paul has nine well i sure spoke a short time ago with ron paul supporter isabel gonzales president of youth for ron paul at the university of texas at el paso i asked her first what she thought about
7:13 pm
these numbers. well i believe that there is no way to actually tell how many delegates mitt romney have versus ron paul because santorum just got out or spending a campaign a few weeks ago and gingrich has just done the same so a lot of these delegates depending on whether they're from boundary and down states they get to choose if they're from one down state and a lot of those from what i can tell have been going to ron paul so it's a matter of. if. not really but it's definitely something that looks good for ron paul at this point so you think despite the very large number of overall delicates delegates received up to this point that there still is a chance that there still is a chance that these numbers will tell a much different story in a couple weeks. well it could very well be that i mean.
7:14 pm
i believe the numbers that they've been showing on c.n.n. are like eight hundred for mitt romney but. ron paul has a lot more than what they're showing which is about seventy nine last time i checked i believe i do think that the. for instance i'm in texas and we haven't even had our convention i was in to go forward so there's a lot of i think. ron paul supporters out there who are saying they're on order simply because they feel like they're not going to be chosing or something of that sort. now i'm not sure if you know as about what we have a lot of ron paul supporters on this network reinterview a lot of people kind of get their take on this race just to show you a different perspective here and time and time again they look like you very young they're energetic ron paul is seventy six years old he does not look like you why
7:15 pm
do you think it is that so many young people follow him. ok well i think from what i've seen at least that ron paul has. great idea he's a very well read an educated man who speaks very frankly about things even if they're not nice to hear and i think that we definitely my generation or people of my appreciate that type of honesty so that's what initially attracted them and then once we see. i guess the platform all around me see how consistent he is and how fair he is to everybody not just to favor one group over the other or to gain any sort of advantage over anybody it's just this is the way the constitution was written this is what we should follow and i think that that is something that is rare and something we definitely are drawn to want to talk about something
7:16 pm
interesting that happened recently in alaska the new head of the stage russell what ron paul supporter as is co-chair debbie holland brown ron paul supporter this is pretty unprecedented i haven't seen this in any other states that the head of the state party is a ron paul supporter what do you think this says in terms of a move or a shift in what i've been to this point was sort of an establishment mentality for the g.o.p. well i think that it's a trend that's going to continue because here alone in el paso there are a lot of what you call these thousands g.o.p. and i met with the sons you know them a lot of them like ron paul the only thing that keeping them from actually. supporting him outright is the fact that they believe unelectable and i think that's really the thing that's the key thing but i went ahead and reserved some seats for some of those g.o.p. . individuals here in the house so when ron paul spoke here last week and they were
7:17 pm
last miley they were just happy and i think that. i want to get away from that mentality that ron calls on the left as well because really the only thing that's keeping him from being elected is that mentality you know people just embrace ideas and thought this is doable i think that the trends definitely going in that direction and that is interesting to hear that they're showing up to these speeches you certainly do start to hear a lot of his ideas that he's been talking about for years whether about the gold standard or the fed or you know other ideal ideologies you do hear those start to come out more and more in some of the more establishment leaders speeches i do want to play something you know because i think you raise a good point a lot of people do have trouble sort of throwing all their weight behind him even though a lot of the establishment are saying all right it's time presumptive nominee. let's hear from a couple of mitt romney's former competitors in terms of their desire to jump on
7:18 pm
the bandwagon mitt romney is going to be the nominee and i'm going to support the nominee whoever the nominee is period and mitt romney well that's what it looks like you know what i hear you saying you're not ready to say i'm indoors but you will well as the line says in the wizard of oz all in good time my pretty it will happen all in good time my pretty so and neither of them sort of really excited to throw everything behind mitt romney why do you think that is well i mean both of then claim to be the true conservative candidate and i think that will support mitt romney after so. i guess outspokenly talk about how not a conservative and he does not represent true conservative values best and g.o.p. playing to. a guy champion so i think that
7:19 pm
a lot of the pressure is down the line that they're going to eventually endorse because they're there they have the mentality he's going to be the candidate of the electable gone versus ron paul who's actually the truth conservative so i think that it is hard for them but they feel like it's something that. they have to do in order to beat obama in november which is one of the main goals for the g.o.p. all right last question isabel i want to get your predictions right here right now for what we're going to see in the next couple months regarding ron paul my prediction ok. i really do think that he's going to take texas i believe he's going to take california and if he doesn't win the straw polls will definitely get a lot of the majority of delegates he has had very large crowds to go listen to him in both texas and california and i think that. it's definitely going to be something pretty amazing. so i think those are definitely two big things
7:20 pm
that you are looking out for that i. all right well we will all be watching appreciate your take today isabel gonzales president of youth for ron paul at the university of texas at el paso well every year there is a meeting of the minds so to speak organize for the one hundred or so people very powerful now this is invite only in the last few meetings have taken place that venues such as the astor place resort in athens greece the hotel dolce in spain and the rest to house in st moritz switzerland well this year is going to take place at the westfield marriott hotel not too far from here in chantilly virginia all right so here's a look at the hotel from the outside and that's all most people will see during this conference set to take place may thirty first to june third as the hotel is totally booked and will be on lockdown we were curious though about what this hotel is all about take a look at here's the web site to the marielle where the conference is being held it
7:21 pm
brags that it captures the elegance of northern virginia colonial estates in a resort like setting and that's not all the chantilly virginia hotel offers a twenty four hour fitness center an indoor and outdoor pool plus those who stay have access to the signature westfield fred couples golf club no doubt some important conversations will be had now in the hotel there's westfield's restaurant with the award winning sunday champagne brunch a pub for those needed night caps and of course starbucks coffee. well there's a forty thousand square foot conference center with award winning catering state of the audio visual services and wireless internet so that's a look at the location for this year's builder bird conference let's talk now about what may be going on inside alex jones is the host of the alex jones show and alex i know that you and your team are no stranger to this hotel and we'll talk about that in a bit let me first get your take on what you supposed might be discussed and decided
7:22 pm
behind closed doors there. well they had their meeting there four years ago and that's where they chose to have hillary step down and for obama to become the presumptive nominee for the democrats there in denver in the two thousand and eight d.n.c. meeting and for an entire day the media in virginia and in d.c. was saying where is obama where's obama and we were there saying he's inside the secret service is there and we had inside sources that he indeed was there with hillary and years later that came out but the mainstream media would not cover it at that time and so i think some of the same things will be discussed should the elite get behind mitt romney or barack obama both men are bought and paid for by the same financial interest and so the discussion will be which candidate can basically con the american people into laying down a tyranny for another four years old and be discussing wars with iran ways to
7:23 pm
censor the internet that's been discussed in past years the head of google and others were attending in switzerland last year when my team covered it so they're going to be discussing a lot of things also how to sell the public on more banker bailouts that is more taxpayer money paid to the private banks that have hijacked our country and they'll also be discussing how to ram through carbon taxes because their environmental hoax has imploded but alice i mean when you talk about the decision being made about which candidate to support i mean we still you know have a system in this country where people go to vote when you talk about future policies being made we still do have a process legislation has to be written laws have to be voted on i guess i'm just wondering how this conference is you know different than any other you know meeting that important people have lawmakers have when they have dinner or play golf together already. sure some of the minutes of build a burger been leaked over the years and baltimore has confirmed that it's been
7:24 pm
there that we've covered them and enforced dot com the b.b.c.'s coverage and the the build a bird group shut up officially in one thousand fifty four it is you're back holland with prince bernhard and others stablish ing it has always been pushing for one world corporate fascist government and up until about five six years ago the mainstream media in this country the united states but also in europe would not even say it existed they would admit that the trilateral commission skull and bones bohemian grove did what they would say builder burke didn't exist and so we know from past research that the hundred twenty five the leaders that meet there and there are twenty or so guest really do discuss policy behind closed doors and make a lot of important decisions they also have three or four builder burge steering committee meetings over the next year so this is one of the most important globalist meetings ever david rockefeller in his memoirs is written about that
7:25 pm
royalty attends this and this is one of the most important convair abs out there and hillary clinton was fined back in the ninety's hundreds of thousands of dollars for attending builder berg when she was in the clinton white house and discussing policy at the event violating the logan act while policy is being shot there and this is one of the most elite meetings out there let's talk more about what you were just kind of touching on which is that most of the mainstream media doesn't cover this they observe sort of a blackout covering builder of our security is tightly controlled and those who do get in as you say they've got to keep their lips sealed but what if the media wanted to cover this especially being that it's in virginia this year i know you and your team had an experience trying to get some access in the past what would people encounter if they asked for say a press pass to build over. well they won't even tell you that it exist when you go there but then separately because of pressure the last few years they have created
7:26 pm
a website they do put out a list of who's there but generally that's descend from asia and some of the people on the list aren't there a lot of people that are there are not on the list and in fact of the most important names. show i don't expect the mainline u.s. media to cover this this year because for so many decades they told their readers and viewers it didn't exist and you were insane so i think there is the big story that shows you how powerful it is the media for fifty years is covered bohemian grove a lot of big decisions get made there the media for decades has covered skull and bones they will not cover builder birth now because of the alternative media and r.t. and the drudge report and others starting to cover it because of that and because the alternative media has become so dominant now the washington post two weeks ago came out and admitted that that senator rubio was going to the south american conference to be part of an unofficial builder burge steering meeting anybody who
7:27 pm
knows about build a burg knows that the first media ever allowed in in fifty four was the head of the graham family at builder burg in europe and so every year since then either the son or the mother or the c.e.o. of the washington post media empire a tense and they would never report on it now two weeks ago in a big column they basically go yeah rubio wants to be vetted by build a bird he wants to up is international credit at builder bird coming up in early june so he's going to this conference and alice for a for those of our viewers who don't know just give us a little. a little nuts and bolts recap of what happened when you tried to get into the hotel the last time around while i checked in two days before they shut it down and kick you out. and i had security walk up after i checked in and said alex jones don't you dare try to steal anything and i said well i don't deal in i don't have
7:28 pm
a criminal record and then i go in my hotel room and the fire alarm goes off and then they come out accuse me of doing it and told me i was trying to steal vases oh in fact they'd said don't steal don't try to steal vases during fire alarms but now you were unable to be in the hotel when the conference was going on for sure no no then they kicked me out and then they had cars following us people breaking and our road to hell rooms threatening phone calls all sorts of stuff military in plain clothes harassing us i mean it was bizarre but jim tucker got shot it in portugal what back in i think was nine hundred ninety one show so this is wild i mean in the past they really wanted to be secretive now their cover is blown they admit that they basically exist but say that they're just a you know meeting you know discussing policy in a free and open way and that's why they have the secrecy but the new york times a few years after i infiltrated attacked my film the obama deception and shed that
7:29 pm
i was at the westfield maryon in virginia having a loose a nation of goodness and then i was insane and that nothing even happened there and all right member the whole media is looking for obama and hillary we're there they're there the secret service motorcade is there and the national media would not come and cover it that's how powerful builder burge is and i'm calling in closing i'm calling to occupy boulder burke to protest it and i'm calling for tens of thousands to be there coming up in one month all right will you keep us posted on on what you say and i'll certainly keep our eyes there as well since it is sort of relatively speaking in our backyard this year alex jones host of the alex jones shell thanks so much thank you. well that's going to do it for now but for more on the stories we covered go to youtube dot com slash r.t. america or check out our web site r t dot com slash usa you can also follow me on twitter i'm chris.
