has really refused to give florida access to a federal database or is that just a lie being told in the mainstream media by governor rick scott for political posturing dr brad friedman of the brad log get the real story. you need to know this after a majority of supreme court justices did legitimized arizona's radical anti immigration law on monday conservatives are now ramping up their efforts to deal a gentleman as the president of the united states it began with the most conservative member of the supreme court justice antonin scalia we used his dissent to launch into a brazen political attack against the president school is set on monday to say is the record that arizona contradicts federal law but foreseen applications of the immigration act that the president declines to enforce bottles of wine if security

served in grenada expedited naturalization and george h.w. bush issued executive order one two seven one one to stop the deportation of chinese nationals independence following tiananmen square and george w. bush issued an executive order to stop deporting thousands of liberians the reason why scalia and other conservatives who are crying foul over president obama hand and line of immigration are silent about past presidents doing the same thing is because this has nothing to do with immigration it has nothing to do within the undocumented immigrants coming across our southern border which by the way isn't even that serious an issue anymore now that more undocumented immigrants are actually leaving the united states than coming into it and it has nothing to do with the fact that president obama has been tougher on undocumented immigrants than any president in history deporting more of them than any of his predecessors this really only has to do with one thing politically hurting president obama case in

point what high ranking republican senator jon kyl said this morning on conservative talk radio about president obama's decision to not dip. for young undocumented immigrants. if the president insists on continuing to ignore parts of the law that he doesn't like and simply not enforce that law the primary remedy for that is political and you have it two ways one over story through the congress to demonstrate what they're doing wrong and there are some i suppose there are some potential criminal charges there for dinner which is good now if it's bad enough and if there are i should i have to give to involved in kind of course impeachment is always a possibility that was on the show of former gambling addict bill bennett so now senator kyl is suggesting impeaching the president over something that each of the last presidents going all the way back to ronald reagan have done simple fact is there are twelve million undocumented immigrants in this country in the federal

government doesn't have enough resources to deport all of them so the president pretty much has to prioritize exactly who the justice department will go after and who won't go after every president has done this and president obama simply the latest but again this has nothing to do with immigration this has everything to do with politically hurting the president just like last week's vote in the house government oversight committee by republican congressman darrell issa of the small one of the few small time crooks in the white house to hold attorney general eric holder in contempt just like that has nothing to do with fast and furious as i say admitted there's no proof whatsoever that the white house is involved in any sort of fast and furious cover up but still republicans move forward voting to hold attorney general holder in contempt why is a political hurts the president this is been the tactic on the right since president obama's inauguration since the night of his inauguration january twentieth two thousand and nine when top republican politicians like eric cantor

a few hundred thousand yeah i really took issue with it with president reagan it was disastrous it opened up this torrential torrent of illegals and what may have started out and by the way he was really bamboozled by the late ted kennedy with that shenanigans just let's give these individuals amnesty and that will be what was at the time i think six million and now we're up to what twelve million fourteen million but the difference with your days is that we can't afford it what reagan did was he stopped and foreseen a law that said that if you employ somebody who is illegal you go to jail and i would submit to you that his amnesty might have had some effect in causing people thinking that they'll be future amnesties but the big magnet was people willing to hire people. well you know how i feel about that i am opposed to businesses hiring illegal aliens irrespective of their political party and contrary

to some of the more venomous writings that i get from a small percentage of your viewing audience these aren't talking points these are my own feelings the fact of the matter is this influx of illegal aliens has been very deleterious to our economy it's actually as pernicious as pancreatic cancer we have overburdened our system our schools they're in shambles emergency rooms are in shambles because of that are astronomical well that's just one issue and most of your viewing audience is aware that the problems that we're having with illegal aliens are costly well let's let's assume that all that's the case david and i think we could probably debate much of that but let's assume that there's actually some truth to that president obama apparently does because he's deported more illegal immigrants than any president in history and the people that he has a reason to not need or are not people who are trying to get the jobs of

hardworking americans their kids who are in the military oh wait a minute no no no that's jive and if they want to use the military that is absolute jive the fact of the matter is if a person if an illegal alien is in the military we should revert to ancient rome let them serve twenty years with distinction and then let them become citizens have that right now it's not twenty years but it is and joining the military and admitting when you're not a citizen isn't is one of the ways that a lot of folks are getting us citizenship and obama saying you know you're not going to last them during the process. ok look that's not all he is saying and the fact of the matter is this executive order in my estimation was wildly overreaching it almost smacked of the youngstown case when the president was truman seized private steel companies for the noblest of purposes now the president is trying to

garner some political favor with an entire class of voters and potential voters and he wants the taxpayer to foot that bill and tom the bill is just too big it's going to our breaking news that not insane he's saying spend less he's saying don't waste your resources going out of these young people who are who are going to be good citizens of the united states eventually if we ever get the dream act you don't know that by the way i wasn't exactly heard simply a folly in correct that it's absolutely incorrect if we save five dollars and it ends up costing us twenty five additional what did we spend we spent twenty we didn't we didn't earn five and it's a it's a bad business so you don't think we should be spending any money into wars and you know gratian was. that's not what i said and you know it well but i you know i said he's down in the back aren't you worried aren't you concerned about the per knishes

launching pad for those extreme storms and for the east coast we talk about hurricanes for the west coast there is a scenario that most people have never heard about a big earthquake strikes off the pacific northwest once every three hundred years or so it's been three hundred years that almost always triggers a major tsunami when you raise sea level you raise the launching pad for those tsunamis now we've seen directional hearings on fast and furious j.p. morgan chase bowing down and kissing jamie dimon speed of course planned parenthood i haven't seen any high profile hearings on climate change have there been any at all no you haven't missed them it would be there's been really only one hearing congressional hearing on climate change this year and i think about eight democratic senators showed up for that hearing and only one republican and it's no coincidence that that was lisa murkowski. it's from a coastal state of alaska right and what happened here and what scientists went out and really begged congress to pay more attention to this issue to pay more attention to funding studies about how sea level rise will impact the east and west

coast the united states how little impact our daily lives you know if you look at new york city it has seventeen power plants within the city limits and ten of those are in flood zones. and how many of those well presumably all of them would be out of commission if they got flooded or any of those nukes you know i don't know the numbers but if you look at japan i don't want to play that game yeah but really we're we are playing the game you know the one problem is that scientists like to look at the low emissions scenario and the high emissions scenario it's time to throw out that low emissions scenario we're past that in the the first circuit court the d.c. circuit court just ruled unanimously in this one of those circles serve of the federal courts has ruled unanimously at the d.p.a. does have the power to regulate greenhouse gases this is good news absolutely you know i heard it called the second most important decision on climate change after the supreme court which did give the authority to regulate carbon emissions under public health under the clean air act and you know the justices said today that you

know every time that you want to create a new science law you don't have to prove the existence of the atom climate change is reality so where does this go from here. going to be where did we on the board with regulating carbon emissions from existing power plants that's why seeing a lot of old dirty coal fired power plant shut down e.p.a. has got some room to regulate new power plants and we'll have to see how far they go with those regulations i think it'll depend a lot on the elections this november but will congress acts will the the world act you know i'm not optimistic these days canada even with all that coal tar sands stuff right there that it will give praise to states you know states across the country are our think they've actually reduce carbon emissions absolutely if you look at the cost of building a giant new coal or gas or nuclear power plant versus the. doing targeted at local solar and wind it's getting more and more costly at the very quickly is there anything going on in the c quest ration area stashing away carbon is there anything going on with dragons unicorns and leprechauns because if there i think it just

doesn't exist you know billions of dollars been poured into this and the last chance to save clean coal i think was the climate bill ironically enough which contained huge giveaways to invest in clean coal that money's gone thanks so much for being with us tonight appreciate it. the writing is on the wall and it's clear our planet and our species are in danger unfortunately the oil barons continue to pay republicans in congress to plug their ears and close their eyes go down and and the republicans are faithfully doing what their masters tell them to do. in screwing news with lawsuits lawsuits piling up at elections officials refusing to obey his orders florida governor rick scott is continuing his illegal voting purge of thousands of eligible floridian voters at the same time he's been hitting the airwaves trying to persuade the media floridians and all of america that is lawsuit against the federal government is not serious and just a poll and not just

a political stunt or that is serious has been governor scott argued during a recent interview on c.n.n. that the federal government and the department of homeland security have purposely refused to give florida access to a national immigrant database. our secretary of state's office has been working with homeland security for months asking for this database so we can do it right when they do they were for whatever reason didn't give it to us we tried but apparently governor scott why to all of us new information suggests that he and his state officials were well aware of the fact that they couldn't have access to the federal immigration database and knew the reasoning behind it joining me now to discuss more about the situation in florida is brad friedman founder and editor of the brad blog brad blog brad welcome. good to see you thanks for joining us from our l.a. studios there is there any legitimacy behind scott's governor scott's lawsuit against the federal government. no there isn't and in the lawsuit itself it appears

that they're trying to deceive the courts what governor scott knows and he's been on a p.r. blitz on c.n.n. and on fox and on n.p.r. what governor scott knows is that his state conceded back in october of two thousand and twenty for two thousand and eleven that they did not have the type of information needed to access this federal database they conceded that we found that in a special report that we did yesterday with my colleague ernest canning at brad blog dot com we found the e-mails where the assistant general counsel at the florida department of state concedes to the d.h.s.s. that yet we can't do this we can't give you these unique identifiers these immigration numbers naturalization certificate numbers and so forth that are needed to access this federal database so when governor scott goes on t.v. and says we have no idea we've done the right thing for the past year the obama

administration is holding us up he knows he is not telling the truth they are purposely trying to deceive the media the public and possibly even the court system how long do you think it's going to be before the media catches on to this and starts pushing back and saying wait a minute governor scott that's a lie. you know it won't take them very long if they just go to brad blog read the e-mails that we have we received via public records request but they don't seem to do that they seem to be listening to governor scott and secretary of state ken detzner and not bothering to look at the actual documentation even you know they can even look at florida's court case against the department of homeland security they included the e-mails in that court case but they didn't bother to mention them in the actual body of the case they're actually trying to deceive the courts and the public and i would suggest this is about the long game you know tom

that the republicans they play a long game here they put these ideas in place they're now suggesting that this is you know. attorney general eric holder trying to help non-citizens vote in order to steal the election for barack obama whatever they do now they're going to keep doing for the next few months maybe even years to change the laws and they'll put these myths in place unless the media comes out and bust them for what is an obvious lie is is there any evidence that that you know in the i mean you've been analyzing e-mails and looking at the evidence here. that the hallway rick famous paul why rick. dictum that you know as the our leverage in the elections goes down it goes up as the voters voting populace goes down you know that this is a concerted effort to just reduce simply reduce the number of voters particularly

democratic category general category voters. but there is no question that that that's what this is about even the former republican secretary of state refused to carry out this purge for exactly that reason he knew that there was that tens of thousands of people on that list that were perfectly legal voters you know that were citizens either born here naturally or or became naturalized citizens he knew that he wouldn't carry that out then the new republican secretary of state appointed by rick scott came in earlier this year and said you know i don't care that the list is inaccurate let's start purging voters and let them fight let them claw their way back on to the voting rules that's what they were doing and so this this whole business about a federal law immigration database is really a bunch of smoke and mirrors they're hoping that they knock a lot of legitimate voters voters who tend to vote democratic off of the voting rolls period yeah hey it worked for him in florida in two thousand and sixty
