a spokesperson for one of the opposition groups well do you believe the opposition could possibly consolidate what the main what the. before i answer this question let me ask you is there a need for such consolidation we are moving towards a pluralistic democratic society would you like the opposition to become more of a unilateral regime. should it become similar to the present regime which is unilateral in political terms i actually asked myself this question and i think the opposition should cool war tonight their stance at the most but there is no need for institutional consolidation the opposition should try to come up with a common agenda and the problem is that a part of the syrian opposition still has the mindset of a commanding party and this is dominated serious political landscape for the last few decades. i think that only over time can this kind of mentality be abandoned

from this perspective of this is we believe the recent conference in cairo was illegitimate for a number of reasons first it did not include the true national opposition and more importantly the popular protest movement who did not attend this meeting a popular protest movement the number one factor in syrian politics today and it does not recognize political parties as such parties have little to no influence on the popular movement and maybe with that in mind how can we recognize the conference as legitimate when it does not represent the popular movement along with a significant share of the opposition and secondly the kind of conference or what had been convened at the initiative of mr now. secretary general of the arab league but the league itself has been compromised acting as a warring party in syrian infighting syrian patriots have lost faith in the arab league's impartiality and we regard it as a western policy tool used against syria with the west a sort to interfere in syria's domestic affairs or willing to go as far as
