a point office and this is allegedly because they were complaining that the demonstrations in pakistan until now have not been receiving enough media attention this is one of those clashes in pakistan over the weekend that happened in the cities of pitch a laugh as well as in karachi we saw protesters marching holding up banners and mourning for the american ambassador to be expelled and for a boycott on american goods and services now also there has been clashes in the afghan capital of kabul where we've seen more than eight thousand protesters six fired two cars as well as story to contain is american military installations on monday when i was also turned on lebanon in light of a televised address the. and i believe it has something in the smile that not his money has called for static protests often on this week starting monday evening in the southern suburbs of beirut he says that this is the worst insult to islam that
9:04 am
he has put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the united states also in lebanon on the foreign minister there his morning one emergency meeting of the arab league to discuss this is not the united states has been standing additional security it's been sending the weeds to beef up security in various cities around the region and this is only inflaming tensions on the ground that many people i'm talking to asking the question whether or not the united states is not benefiting from this line that says it now has the excuse to same so the suits on the ground given time of the situation is harmful the moment although tensions on buying time he said he can feel the visit steamy tends to the possibility that any kind of fine and pretty rough any time. he's fall asleep reporting there and as the u.s. beefs up its military presence in the region some believe actually the demonstrations could be benefiting washington but also so he wants some a gyptian so telling us he's fall asleep here on a twitter she's also reporting on the because we know nonsense approach of egyptian

police to protesters and how matters are just getting worse all that and more on her twitter feed find paula right there the bottom of your screen paula underscore . what i speaking about america's forces build up in protest stricken regions of foreign affairs editor of the chronicles magazine sort of just sort of go for it says it will only lead to ruin. it only means that the u.s. is getting deeper and deeper into a potential quagmire if they had any sense in foggy bottom inside the beltway that they would be disengaging and not extending their engage what do you do with these forces do you intervene against the libyan authorities that you helped usher in last year against gadhafi do you intervene against the egyptian muslim brotherhood that you aided and abetted and put the pressure on the gyptian generals to cede power no it's absurd but of course the u.s.
9:06 am
policy in the region has been absurd in the russian for a long time the us state department and the policymaking community in washington were blinded by their own ideological blinkers far from bringing western style democracy human rights and all things bright and beautiful i don't think it requires a degree in tomic physics to grasp the reality of the in the world democratization means islam is ation. well with riots violence and protest swirling the white house has had a cyber war and its damage control efforts google and its you tube web site have declined to take the controversial video down despite u.s. government pleas and as a guy nature to come explains that decision is in keeping with washington stance from not so long ago c.n.n. film may not have been the only reason behind the mass rage in the muslim world but it did provide the spark that lit the power to care. for.
9:07 am
the obama administration began their damage control efforts by bashing the film this video is disgusting and reprehensible but the same time maintaining that internet freedom cannot be curtailed we do not stop individual citizens from expressing their views no matter how distasteful they may be when the rage against the u.s. bred like wildfire with people in different countries storming u.s. embassies. the white house asked you tube to quote review the video to see if it was in compliance with their terms of use end of quote the company determined that the video was within guidelines but they did block it in a number of countries including libya egypt pakistan india and indonesia but i
9:08 am
don't think there's much that they can do about the fact that these social network tools are no employer in a situation where the effect is clearly going to be to mobilize anti american sentiment about america and american activity in the wake of the arab spring the obama administration has been advertising the internet as a great tool to bring about change the policy involved spending millions of dollars to train activists in the muslim world on how to take advantage of the internet. we want to keep the internet open for the protestor using social media to organize a march in egypt the college student emailing her family photos of her semester abroad the lawyer in vietnam blogging to expose corruption but nowhere on hillary clinton's plans was there a person with a film mocking the prophet muhammad or thousands of angry people venting their rage over american policy towards the muslim world it seems
9:09 am
a very work in the state department hoped would further the arab spring has now backfired the fact of the matter is that the air net as wonderful as it is is also full of junk which means anything in offensive text an offensive film can potentially provoke mass rage in different parts of the world many now see that the internet alone can bring change and sometimes it can be the fastest way to spread violence and chaos in washington i'm going to check on. well many are wondering just who is responsible for stirring up the muslim world. to that's one of the issues we discuss with a former extremist and now on the trail against radical islam the interview and also interview with a tough economy that is coming up next hour here on artsy. all
9:10 am
right all right i'll turn in ten minutes past the hour here in moscow this is artsy the sexual assault case against whistleblower julian a songe in sweden shows no signs on reveling one crucial piece of evidence brought forward by one of the accusers produced no forensic results let's talk to our party boy standing by along with more details polly it's good to see you so what exactly do the swedish investigators find or indeed what exactly did they not find. yes well swedish investigators have handed julian assange as lawyers one hundred page report which outlines the basis of why he's wanted for questioning over in sweden the alleged sexual assault of two women back in august two thousand and ten now the report reveals that this. is that there was absolutely no
9:11 am
d.n.a. belonging to julian assange found on one of the condoms provided by one of the two women that accuse julian assange of sexual assault back in august two thousand and ten to be in the songes lawyers of course say that's because the condom submitted could have been fake not the two labs that found this rather found a lack of d.n.a. evidence belonging to julian assange john these condoms did say that they found traces of his d.n.a. on another condom submitted by the second woman that accused julian assange of sexual assault however the report says that this woman accuses julian assange of molesting her by refusing. to wear a condom so it's turning into a rather confusing situation where a lot of evidence hanging on for lack of evidence hanging on this particular condom
9:12 am
now judy and assigned himself has always maintained that he's happy to face questioning by this leadership for a tease if they want to question him over in london however he's not received any guarantees from the swedish authorities that they wouldn't extradite him to the u.s. on trumped up charges that he says are politically motivated. as this continues. inside the ecuadorian embassy british authorities saying they won't let him get to his asylum as a political asylum in ecuador so it just keeps on going paula boy scuse me in london thanks so much for coming on. but i still ahead for you this hour here on r.t. is just one step from hero outcast a survivor of the london july seventh terror attack once praised as an icon of british courage now faces deportation left in limbo by the u.k.'s much criticized

immigration agency. well it is exactly one year now since the occupy wall street movement kicked off in new york's zuccotti park protesting against corporate greed spread across the u.s. and abroad despite a traditionally heavy handed response from police and now the occupiers want to regain new momentum with mass rallies on the anniversary of the movement. of the epicenter in new york joins us now live good to see you again have the anniversary rallies already started i spoke to an hour ago certainly seemed that the riot police were certainly there. that's right where you mentioned was you caught a park when introducing this story i'm actually standing in zuccotti park right now this is where the occupy wall street movement began just a year ago with hundreds of activists camped out here waging a fight against economic inequality of corporate influence on u.s. politics and we saw that over
9:14 am
a matter of weeks thousands of americans in new york city and throughout the country join this movement now it's been a year and don hundreds of activists and their supporters are downtown in lower manhattan holding rallies throughout throughout this part of the city wall street as it is known what kind of a factor will this state of demonstrations have on the u.s. political system and the u.s. presidential election now to talk about that i am joined by pulitzer prize winning journalist author and activist chris hedges thank you for joining thank you so what kind of effect do you think this resurgence or celebration of the occupy movement will actually have on the u.s. to some profound i think the occupy movement was a seismic shift not only in terms of the discourse but in terms of identifying the centers of power and how to respond to them i think we have to look at occupy as a tactic in the same way that the freedom rides in the civil rights movement were
9:15 am
attacked that. it is always the ruling class that determines the parameters of resistance to revolt and because the ruling class has responded exclusively in the language of force by trying to eradicate a race these encampments rather than respond rationally as the new york times columnist paul krugman constantly talks about rationally would mean addressing the grievances and injustices that pushed people into these encampments that have brought people out into the streets today and they're not going away indeed things are getting worse hundreds of thousands of americans have lost their unemployment benefits. there's been no attempt by the ruling elite to address the chronic under employment and unemployment student debt which is breaking the backs of college graduates who cannot get jobs or certainly jobs where they can sustain themselves. health care system that is imploding this political paralysis is very dangerous because in an avid of lima beans a backlash in america the backlash could be
9:16 am
a right wing backlash as well we're not guaranteed that our i'm a nonviolent or that it will remain inclusive in a way that the occupy movement has met and speaking of the ruling elite high the us presidential election is in seven weeks according to recent reports at least one hundred sixty four million dollars has been spent by wall street donating to the stop political press attention a lot of campaigns on this is exactly what the movement is fighting against god the financial industry having such an influence over us politics what kind of influence do you think this movement can have in this window of time seven weeks could it really make a change in this window of time it may make a signal change i think over the long term it will especially as conditions deteriorate for the average american the working class and increasingly the middle class what we have cemented into place is a system of legalized bribery public elected officials are an absence of corporate
9:17 am
employees the judiciary is largely not completely having just sort of the present alignment wholly owned subsidiary of a corporate state and. i think that the. you know the flagrant sort of corruption. the ability of this small rapacious class of corporate oligarchy to write the laws write the legislation create a two tiered system where there are one set of rules for us and another set of rules for them. this ultimately is going to implode when how long it will take i've covered movements around the world as a foreign correspondent for the new york times you can tell there are a mysterious force but the fact that the ruling elite has chosen not to respond at all or at least to respond exclusively in the language of force means that this story is far from over and the response here in new york has been a happy candidate one i need as we're talking right now like your helicopters
9:18 am
circle right for i had there are hundreds of these officers out here lots of them dressed in riot gear zuccotti park is empty but as far as i know activists are demonstrating throughout lower manhattan what is here and for today well the plan was to rather than gather in one large group gather in a series of small groups and attempt to march on wall street. yeah i mean look the ruling elite is nervous and i was standing i've been here since six this morning and you saw all these bankers when it came time for work coming out of the subways and none were dressed in suits because they were scared they were scared to walk through the crowd and be identified as part of that speculative class which is not only trashed the american economy trashed the global economy looted the u.s. treasury and is essentially as a so a parasitic force so look you know the one thousand seven hundred sixty five stand back rebellion was the precursor to seven hundred seventy six the one nine hundred
9:19 am
five rebellion in russia was the precursor to nine hundred seventeen it takes that long but what we have on leisure what occupy unleashed a year ago i believe. ultimately spells the end of the corporate state and we're going to leave it right there chris hedges thank you very much for joining us i appreciate it and dive for our viewers we will be down here all day covering this occupy movement as an event the banks on hold so stay tuned to our team and we will be here in the next hour bringing you the latest oh very good of course one more in a live in new york thank you. but we'll have plenty more on the one year anniversary as she was saying marina just a moment ago the occupy wall street story going on throughout the day here and he also online and off dot com that will be including interviews with the activists and ultimately all of those involved in the movement. what began on wall street spread worldwide. was the ninety nine percent
9:20 am
versus the one percent with all the money. they. are they getting in quality into the economy. more recession ahead can we afford not to mention. the occupy movement. on our team. fido five twenty pm here in moscow this is a t. and anti japanese protests have swept china as a volatile dispute over who owns a series of islands escalates the fallout over the archipelago dispute has been a widening between tokyo and beijing since japan decided to bypass china and buy the territories from private investors and this comes as washington and tokyo agreed to put a second anti missile defense system in japan claiming it will be focusing on deterring north korean aggression but james corbett the editor of the colbert report website who lives in japan things the system will be deployed for all the wrong reasons. there's going to have to be some sort of dialogue and one certainly
9:21 am
hopes that it will come quicker because the demonstrations are starting to get out of it into china and some real damage is being done of course not only to to japanese interests but even to owners of japanese restaurants or people who drive japanese cars in china are now being attacked in these protests and as a result we're starting to see the mirror opposite here in japan and obviously not rioting or anything of that sort but there is an increase in the rate we nationalist riding around with their loudspeakers with their n.t. chinese slogans and cetera so it's definitely creating increased tensions and the only way out of this is for some sort of diplomatic breakthrough and it doesn't look like the two parties are really willing to come to the table at this point to the idea that this new expand radar is going to be really aimed at north korea not china is that is about as silly as saying that the. the missile defense shield going up in europe is not aimed at russia i think we all know that it is expressed at beijing and beijing this intercontinental ballistic missile capabilities which
9:22 am
are only increasing as they continue to spend more and more on their military capabilities so it's definitely going to have an effect in ratcheting up tensions even further i will see daniel soon with the business of one celebrated as an icon of bravery after surviving the seven seven london bombings as they are facing deportation from the u.k. immigration authorities say a second citizenship in australia could be enough to see him kicked out artist laura smith investigates. in the days after the seven seven terrorist attack in london john tulloh bloodied face was a familiar sight in newspapers and on t.v. screens sitting opposite mohammad sidique khan when he detonated his deadly bomb he credits his suitcase with saving his life seven years on tulloch a university professor is back on the front page but this time because he's been threatened with deportation and extremely helpful and. immigration officer heathrow

terminal so if you try for another six months our antenna will be up. thinking that you might be trying to get around the immigration acts and whatever we decide that time if you try to third time. we'll put you on the plane born in india to a serving british officer came home to britain aged three and was educated here graduating from cambridge university after he got his doctorate he went to australia where he'd been offered a job he had no idea that taking australian citizenship would jeopardize his british passport there's no better place to check than in your own passport and the cover of the passport it says i have a right to your nationality not so according to the u.k. borders agency and tulloch whose father served his country and his grandfather and great grandfather also worked for the empire in india is it what he calls looking
9:24 am
at an ethnic situation we've done so much for britain and the world to serve in the face is an understatement my brothers here all my cousins are here so you know it's it's. it's frustrating i find it very insulting to my family and very disheartening. it's another twist in the case much maligned immigration laws under which someone like professor tulloch if that risk but other much less avery characters are allowed to stay in fact commentators say if tulloch had been a perpetrator of a terrorist attack rather than a victim he might have a better chance of living here harris meant free be seen several people convicted terrorists including somebody he was convicted of providing a safe house for the twenty one seven bombers. allowed to stay in this country because deporting them were violating human rights it's quite clear that the
9:25 am
immigration system is is so. it against people who actually you know contribute usefully to this country and and works in favor of useless parasites like this my toilet is in limbo the borders agency says it will help him resolve his predicament but he'll have to jump through hoops to stay in the country his family has called home since the fourteenth century the great irony is that so many times i saw my and picture in the papers now on television after seven seven it said words next to it like british pluck british resistance british spirit but this is my home and this is my place and i certainly want to be able to come in and out as any other british citizen is able to do. so now though tarlac can't leave for fear he won't be able to return. ati card. and christmas time when i see there's
