watching r.t. coming to live from moscow a reminder of the top stories at least twelve people most of them foreigners have been killed in a suicide bomb blast in kabul and afghan insurgent group has claimed responsibility for the attack saying it was a response to the u.s. made movie mocking as long. until a few were it continues to spill into the streets of stanza thousands of lebanese have been protesting in beirut it's exactly a week after anti-american anger started sweeping the muslim world. and new york
2:31 am
city police crackdown on occupy wall street anniversary celebrations pushing shoving out forcibly arresting nearly two hundred activists. the u.s. and britain are leading the largest ever a military exercises off iranian coast as israel and iran trade threats of war. and now we hear from a former u.s. governor at an ex wrestler that's hoping to run for the white house and twenty sixteen jasim and tourist speaks to an associate about the impact of occupy wall street and explains why he thinks the american electoral system is out of date and unfair. sitting down with jesse ventura former governor of minnesota a former navy seal former professional wrestler oxer and bestselling author it's very nice to see you back in our new york studios great to be here now jesse you recently announced that you are considering participating in the presidential race
2:32 am
in the year twenty sixteen as an independent candidate because of course you believe that the two party system was crippled and corrupt so why what better timing than now why not do it this time around well because it would take too long you have to build for this she the difficult thing if i if i do it i will be with no party it will be just. running for president if i do it well that requires me to get go out get ballot access in all fifty states you can't do that overnight and it costs a lot of money that's why i've made the statement it will return require a grassroots movement of people in every state to go out and do what it takes to fulfill to get me ballot access so that i can be on the ballot and then there's a second requirement i have to be guaranteed i've got to be in the debates because if you're not in the debate you can't win and i do not run for political office just to make
2:33 am
a statement when i run i run to win now your new book of course democrats and very bluntly focus is on the parties being gang like. fighting for power just for the sake of having power and you talk a lot about the need to eradicate corporations from politics and my question to you i guess is how can this realistically be done in a country where this has been the system for ever and you yourself compare politicians to you know possibly wearing now scar racing since because they have so much support from corporations who are going to first nascar racing suits like if you look at jimmie johnson the great race he's got patches all over the tells who is sponsors are well if we require them to wear that then we. voters will know who owns them there's so much corruption it won't take long it just recently happened before it was against the law for a corporation to contribute to a political party until the supreme court of our land made that what i call disastrous ruling where they said
2:34 am
a corporation has the same rights as an individual and that money is free speech while i'm waiting for the next guy to rob the bank and use that as his defense so that just recently happened what we need to do is reverse that we have to overturn the supreme court's ruling on those two issues and there is a movement to do that the only way it can be done is to amend the constitution to specifically state corporations do not have the same rights as individuals and money is not free speech not to me is one of the curious details about corporations in power is that we're seeing the same companies investing in both parties and some people say it's a win win situation for them but in reality others say well listen actually this is a lot more like betting on both red and black in roulette because you know either way you lose so what's the point what if you don't lose because one of them is going to be the president and now you loan money that you invested in the other
2:35 am
that's nothing did you know what we pointed out in the book in the book these major corporations spend more money on lobbyists than what they pay in taxes and that's a fact they spend more on lobbyists than what they pay in taxes let me repeat that you don't find that astounding and why would they do that so they don't have to pay taxes and so i mean like g.e. two years ago they made fourteen billion dollars not only did they not pay taxes they got subsidies from the government. what do you think about the election campaign this time around i mean obviously critics are calling it a reality show we're seeing obama and romney just do you think there's ever really been a bigger disconnect between what we're seeing in the debate in the debates and in the campaign and. what real americans are actually in need of right now i think what you're seeing is finally rising up to the level of professional wrestling and
2:36 am
i see rising up to it. because in pro wrestling in front of the cameras we all hate each other behind the scenes it's a business. and that's the same way it is for them it's a sham in front of the cameras in the public they hate each other and they're on different sides of the fences behind the scenes they're going out to dinner together they're ensuring that there are two party dictatorship maintains its power there's no difference between these two don't kid yourself now this september marks one year anniversary of the occupy wall street movement which you support the ideas of what role do you think if any will this movement have played in the united states in the long run do you think in a decade from now people will look back and say this really was a movement that changed the national dialogue. because they've disappeared temporarily they need to come back where are they they need to continue they need
2:37 am
to keep the fight up now they've disappeared a decade from now no one's going to remember the occupy wall street movement not unless it's victorious or does something it hasn't done that yet how can a movement like that with one having to do by changing the country they need to continue to stay at the parks they need to continue to get arrested they need to continue to be vigilant how do you think we stop the vietnam war and to me the turning point of the vietnam war many people say it was the sixty eight ted offensive that was huge but i don't believe that was the real turning point for america i believe the turning point of the vietnam war was when the four students were killed at camp state because all of a sudden the public the general public went back and said wait a minute we're even killing people in our own country now because of this war i hate to say it but it's going to require something of that magnitude for the wall
2:38 am
street movement to truly have an impact and get to the psyche. of mainstream america i would ask about the way the us treats elections abroad while actually really drowning an electoral process flaws here at home why this double standard. there's always a double standard there was a double standard on the wall street protests while we're gives you pepper spraying him and running him off with dogs were heralding the protests over in the middle east all homo hint this lovely go go go were like cheerleaders over there while up there seen time here we're squashing down our own protesters at the height of hypoxia. elections the same way we want to bring democracy all over the world and we don't even have it here anymore because the two gangs pick your president mitt romney was picked four years ago you know how i know that he wasn't
2:39 am
picked at the convention they knew four years ago you know i know that because when obama won right after obama won you started seeing these mass advertisements on t.v. about mormons do you recall those where they'd show a person who was a fire member of teacher and they'd show all these attributes of how wonderful they were and member the person would look at the camera in the end and say and i'm a mormon well they were preparing us for you think considering they say started preparing for years ago he's going to be the next us president no i am why so much effort for somebody because he's the republicans. may man he's the one on the pedestal right now john mccain was four years ago. george w. bush was the eight years prior to that you know if i'm interesting about the republican convention they did mention one word about bush and cheney how do you ignore a president vice president who a mere three and a half years ago served for eight years it's like oh boy you know why they don't
2:40 am
want to identify with the true culprits who killed our economy very selling the. people now saying we're going to fix the economy this is the same party that ruined it after all from zero zero to zero six bush not only was in the white house he had a republican house and a republican senate so he had one for you want to do to rubber stamp the republicans caused this economy to fail barack obama heritage you're obviously an advocate for eradicating the institution of the electoral college loan it states rights because every vote has to count this is a system that's not applied anywhere else in the world not applied to any other election in the united states or in that moment for doug or of telling how could this be done easily or a requirement in chairs between democrats republicans they're obviously not interested in changing that system the people want to sit around it the people after the mandal there are a lot of things that people demand that they don't know well they have to be
2:41 am
persistent and truly demanded they have to threaten to vote amano office you've got to threaten if you don't change the electoral college you won't reset new next year that's the only way they respond it's the threat that they could lose their using the american people could really get worked up enough about the electoral college when they have their for all these other things going on hold to deal with difficult but you know the electoral college was good when they put it in you know why. you had to travel by horseback to washington that's why it was there it's the only election like that in this country i've been a mayor you were the most votes wins governor congress senate just see the syrian crisis the conflict has been gripping really the world for over a year and a half now what kind of role if any should the united states be playing in this in this whole conflict and if you were president what would you do knowing that it's their business what about the whole idea of the united states trying to help out the syrian people who have the right to stand up against their government so there
2:42 am
could be syrian people so as u.s. president you would have all of that it's not my business and if they don't. they get no foreign aid. i did nor them if they don't wipe me i don't hang out with people who don't like me who made the world's policeman in fact i'd pick a step farther if i were president of every every foreign military base the united states has would be closed to bring our men and women home we have the technology to do with our military we can destroy anyone in the world at any moment what do we need bases in occupy i mean we've got multiple bases in japan korea and germany haven't those wars been over for sixty years why are we there do you think the same rules apply to no matter what kind of geopolitical interests the united states has with a country in crisis doesn't apply to every country do not get involved in their will
2:43 am
or no i would get involved with another country's affairs only or fat countries specifically. please come and help us i want to ask you about julian assange do you think it's been way overblown by the united states and the west and the whole story of his attempts political asylum to ecuador how do you what's your take on this whole case. my take is that i want to know what they know and i have every right to know what my government does you want to know why whose money did they use my taxes as a taxpayer i have every right to know what they're spending it on every right you think you'll find out oh absolutely not. unless i become president. all right jesse ventura thank you so much for being with us thank you appreciate it's always a pleasure.

as israel and iran trade threats of war. but we have lines here in our team sports next with. hello there thanks for watching and here's what's coming up over the next few minutes basement bottles producer get back to record breaking three wins on a gold packed night in the russian premier league. missings in the face funny side might make it without you standing axel but still for their opening group game in the champions league. and surprised. both enjoy big wins to go join the k h l. but first the football where there's been plenty of drama in the russian prime a league is both inclusive yet both came back from a goal down to grab a late three two victories to move away from the foot of the table first of all
2:47 am
three points as they rallied at home to struggling vulgar the put them side open from the penalty spot on the strike at half time from the p.f. but. levelled straight off to the interval and he crossed from india maxime off setting out one up and getting smashed in. free cake to put the visitors in front after sixty five minutes however their joy was short lived as p.f. swiftly politely came from the spot people by the game guessed the right direction but it was unstoppable and in the last minute to go back home what proved to be an cars winner the home side stay nine folder a second boston. walgreens c.v.s. or ben did a three game losing run with the last minute when it was though via alexander will be our new karelia won the lot before getting blasted in an equaliser. then look then took the lead on the hour thanks to. bob you penalty it's seven minutes to go
2:48 am
numb out your turn them of businesses level and didn't stop each time the cruelty and snatch that we now see clearly i tend. to think. and i were in english castle came from behind twice to salvage a draw at everton late in baines scored early on for the home side substitute demba equalise just after half time haven't thought they'd done enough when victor anichebe netted two minutes from the end but found another equaliser at the death to draw leaves everton in seventh place and newcastle are eleven. now the group stages of the champions league get underway later on cheese day and russian champions any trouble to spanish side malaga with that their new signing still the belgian midfielder suffered a hamstring injury in training he joined for a fave more than fifty million dollars early this month along with striker holt who will feature tonight group c. is tough though apart from malaga so need also face seven time when his ac milan and anderlecht and the same page as big side know they need to refine their form
2:49 am
quickly after losing to their last three matches in the russian primarily. i think everybody in the team make the best to win. the games. now we have this opportunity to play. this game with some time to rest and to make some recovery training and like i said before this. is the perfect game to prove ourselves that we have the capacity to play these games malaga meanwhile hope to continue their good run their unbeaten in the league after four games and that's despite selling key plays in the summer like santi cazorla to arsenal forward you have a savvy owner says three points the saving is a priority so we all know the importance of winning the first match in the champions league well playing at home against this team we all know what it means to us and also to the people who have big hopes the team elsewhere real madrid
2:50 am
coach jason reno says his side can win this season's champions league they reached the semifinals last time around and welcome english champions manchester city at the reale though have started their domestic season well winning only once and for outings and are arguably the toughest group which also includes german champions breashears dortmund and i.x. but that doesn't worry the marine. we want to win we can win we are contenders and we've got man city in the group of. good teams that. have bigger rival. for us so for me years ago but that's. the question that you have to put this to roberto and we're going to and so is the answer well roberte a man cheney says striker where it could return to action tonight he's back from injury and was among the players that had
2:51 am
a little walk around the pitch after arriving in the spanish capital on monday also there was damage silver is just signed a new five year deal at the club and has warned his side will need to be at their best. it is clear that when everything goes well they are much more confident things work out better for them and they do things that are actually possible to achieve but it is more difficult for them when they have this doubt which can be a double edged word because the beast real madrid carry on so it can wake up any moment they have a great team with great players elsewhere french champions montpellier for their group and have dropped russian midfielder under to sharpen from their eighteen man squad is replaced by the rb while vito mannone will deputise in goal for the chairs and say he will go in go once again and the gunners are on a high after their six one thrashing of southampton while their opponents have won just one in five games and could come up against former shrike it leaves you to him
2:52 am
move to the emirates in the summer. it's too strange to me but it's a good thing i didn't have time to say goodbye to the montpellier crowd it will be very emotional for me i spent two very nice seasons there that will always be grouped in my memory we'll see how it goes and i have to put all the emotions and soon to inter to be behind me for ninety minutes and do my job which is to win the match. and french runners up parry sanjay manner also an action they're making their first appearance in the champions league for eight years and host an army. which also includes the numbers to grab and port au p.s.g. spend two hundred million dollars on new plays in the close season so we can strike is that the hell of it is the biggest name to write an ac milan along with defending silva he set to make his debut tonight after covering from an injury but despite the huge spending spree coach carlo ancelotti isn't making predictions. are going to react to go forward. what we're going to do in this competition we have to
2:53 am
play this group are going to be a tough team with experience. we hope to to move on of the next purple bitter because luke. in this moment nobody can say what we're going to do now let's move to ice hockey because there's been a change at the top of the k h l table checks idea of an ivy league is after death for no win over better race although they are level on points with nothing hit me. three two in overtime action from that game here the host twice came from behind and constantine pushed hard right. here to send the game into the extra fray check forward. grab the all important gulf in f.t. meet two minutes in. while twice for which bars are up the third following a five nil drubbing of avant garde away from home siberia and axing letters of back

to brace he opened midway through the first period and completed the ride in the dying seconds. and finally russia's n.b.a. stars are enjoying the last few weeks of their break before heading back to north america for the preseason so paul fleet managed to catch up with on that occurred he was looking forward to joining his new club the minnesota timberwolves. in the end it wasn't a difficult decision for carolyn to return to be n.b.a. even though he was offered a lucrative contract to remain in russia. but the lure of the biggest basketball league in the world proved too good for eight hundred forty seven to turn down but i'm very happy you know that your back to the states. not because of the you know. stuff except basketball you know of course basketball's biggest biggest cause. highest level of i think guys i still feel that i'm ready to wear the highest well i want to be. it's been a busy summer for the russian as he was heavily involved at this summer's olympics
2:55 am
in london. he helped his country to win bronze in eighty forty seven says this is one of the best achievements of his basketball career so far as the highest achievement go ahead. you know i get a good olympic medal you know it's a huge huge dollar that we we've made you know we really put ourselves in the bird very high position very very has delivered with this issue however when he's not been on the basketball court andres been doing what he loves been spending time helping out children the thirty one year old has his own charity called carolyn kids which has been running since two thousand and three and he donated all the money he earned from a stint in russia to help those in need which involves ford also has three children of his own and says it's great to be back home but his being with his family is the most important thing i mean you know we really love it here in moscow it's all you know it's it's a city where i was growing and you know i have a lot of friends here but i think we are where people of the world will who travel
2:56 am
so much we don't really care where we are at so i think it's more straight. you know your family when you can prove you a better way. that's why we don't really care where we are getting younger will soon open a new chapter in his basketball career when minnesota start their pre-season games in early october however the russian is just as committed off the basketball court to assisting his charity as he is on the hardwood richard cole fleet antti moscow that's all we've got time for for the moment so we've got more they want to us time next that it's the well. you know sometimes you see a story and it seems so you think you understand it and then you glimpse something else and you hear or see some other part of it and realize everything you thought you knew you don't know i'm tom harvey welcome to the big picture.
