on our breaking news this hour. the syrian plane intercepted on route from moscow was carrying russian made munitions but the departure airport in the russian capital insists there was no illegal cargo on board. with the guns of. those on board the plane see they were threatened and humiliated by turkish authorities. in other news a yemeni security official working for the u.s. embassy is assassinated in the capital in the latest incident signaling al qaeda is on the rise in the region. and. unemployment
1:01 pm
mounting nationwide desperation to another downgrade. live from moscow this is our. moscow time this thursday night very good to have you with us with the breaking news of turkey tonight saying these syria bound passenger plane that was forced to land in turkey last night was carrying russian made munitions the moscow airport though that dispatched the flight insists there was no illegal cargo on board sixteen fighter jets anyway intercepted the flight on its way from moscow to damascus which was carrying thirty seven people at the time let's get up to speed with these latest developments. covering it for us tom what exactly did the turkish prime minister have to say.
1:02 pm
well turkish prime minister tayyip erdogan sais that military equipment and ammunition found in the plane originated in a russian institution and was on its way towards the syrian defense ministry that contradicts the earlier statement by russia saying that none of the equipment on board originated in russia that's the statement that he gave at a press conference however moscow does say that the documentation was checked in moscow and was found to be all legal there most of the first time of course russia has come under scrutiny for its links with damascus is it. it's not russia has come under under scrutiny for its links with the syrian government during the uprising moscow is pains to point out though that all of its arms contracts with syria are longstanding ones that meet legal international norms and
1:03 pm
that it supplies defensive weapons that are not for use against civilians it is still not quite clear what was inside those crates that were taken off this syrian airliner whether in fact some turkish government reports suggest that it was radio equipment or perhaps components for missiles or perhaps something else entirely it's also not clear who was responsible for that cargo. more details be coming out over the following hours what we do know is that the passengers on board that flight were terrified according to some reports we've got by seeing those of fighter jets reportedly fighting of flying very close to their windows there what they've been saying today they've been talking to. us there have been complaints first of all from the syrian government who complained bitterly that turkey acted too aggressively the turkish. ministry does say though that they did warn the pilot
1:04 pm
not to enter their airspace and he he ignored those warnings the passengers inside the plane and also the crew once it was forced to land in ankara say that turkish security forces entered the plane coughed the crew and began their search and talking to one flight engineer aboard the syrian airliner r.t. heard how in his view the turkish authorities acted with excessive force. official authority has told us they wanted to take all the boxes out when this we said that that was not a problem we just needed to see a warrant they said no first we will unload the boxes align says that we needed to see a warrant they left and came back in an hour with ten armed soldiers they pointed their guns at the time got those put us on the ground then they drove us back to the plane into vehicles. and. the plane was kept on the
1:05 pm
ground for eight hours after that minus these boxes with this contentious material it was released and then made its onward journey to damascus all of this feeds into a very tense situation between syria and turkey and increases the risk of war between the two countries after last week's exchanges of artillery fire over the border. in flames for much more for more details as the same show more becoming over the course of the coming hours and we got some sort of political analyst eric draitser he told us he believes it's no coincidence that the incident with a passenger jet comes amid the ongoing international rift over syria. the demonization of the russia with regard to the weapons sales is something that's been going on now for months will remember back to secretary of state clinton and her laughable accusations against the russian government that they were instigating
1:06 pm
a civil war by simply delivering what had already been contracted to the syrian government but as i mentioned already to demonize russia is to lend credence to the side that is in favor of intervention remember that the vetoes that russia and china put forward in the security council were not simply vetoes against what the united states wants it was an attempt to prevent war and there's no way to get around that unless you can drum up some kind of an international incident that would look like put in an elaborate had egg on their face. the inception the syrian plane by texas authorities is a signal that nato countries are ready for open military confrontation with damascus that's the view of u.s. based until war activists and journalists don't do bomb under international law this is an act of war and that turkey would be emboldened to commit this act makes me very nervous about what's going to happen going forward this is crazy i have no idea what the thinking is behind this other than to try to intimidate everyone
1:07 pm
involved on the other side of this nato would venture in syria that either back off or we're going to take it to the max i think that's the signal of washington is trying to send because turkey isn't doing this without an ok from washington and it's frightening that that's actually how aggressively they're playing at this point especially you know couple weeks before an election usually they try to keep this stuff toned down before an election and see a win for after the election so i hope something works isn't coming after november sixth. well as a say we'll have more developments with the syrian passenger plane as we get them and we'll get live analysis for you to a promise that in the coming hours now as the border tension between turkey and syria reaches a worrying pick there we're asking for your thoughts tonight on what you think do you think ankara will send troops into its neighbors territories verging that way cast your vote at r.t. dot com let's know what you think. well things are far from karma also in the middle east to sadly in yemen a security official at the u.s.
1:08 pm
embassy there also coordinated anti terror work with yemeni authorities been shot dead washington is increasingly acknowledging the rise of terror and a lack of security in the region ridiculous because got that for r.t. . security official who was on his way to work to the u.s. embassy was shot dead in a drive by incident now the yemeni officials are saying that this particular incident has the fingerprints of al qaida all over it now many may seem to ask why it is that al qaeda still seem to be so powerful even after the death of its leader osama bin laden back in two thousand and eleven a lot of very small terrorist organizations which existed in knowledge just in the middle east but also of course in pakistan and afghanistan in the northern african region the so-called islamic magreb all of these organizations are now trying to latch on to all and they want to be filled with this large very well known terrorist organization and they are continuing their operations on the ground in these countries in a very vast area just recently u.s.
1:09 pm
military official who was working as the head of the military security team in libya has said that. unfortunately is alive and well and very much kicking in the country and he did say that unfortunately after the depreciation of qaddafi things have just gotten worse now a lot of analysts are saying that this seems to be the habit that united states has gotten into they are aligning themselves with the rebel fighters in various countries which are trying to depose all of these so-called dictatorships this was the case in libya of course this was the case unfortunately a lot of times the u.s. seems to disregard any voices of concern that a lot of these rebel fighters who are fighting against the regime actually are fighting alongside with al qaida members unfortunately once the u.s. does not. officials disregard these warnings they find themselves in hot water like they did in libya where u.s.
1:10 pm
ambassador was killed in what is now confirmed as an attack specifically on a u.s. officials. were sort of discussed at the u.s. congressional hearing from security the mission highly another quit the retired officer told us the wall congressman look for weak spots to go to america missions in the middle east the failing to get to the root of the problem. this is a political carnival this is represented trying to make political points now they're trying to get hillary clinton for a lack of understanding what security is and that's not where they should try to. get the request because the word she and others in libya the problem here is not getting to the bottom of the thing the bottom of the thing is the same congressman ok they are the they forgot their constitutional duty in and so before we went to war in libya the congressional vote they ducked that
1:11 pm
and the result is the people like hillary clinton and others think they can fix things armors over a country. next almost junk that's the grim verdict on spain's credit rating coming from the influential agency standard and poor's in the latest blow to the cash strapped economy s. and p. downgraded madrid's that score by two notches citing several reasons why spain's unemployment has more than doubled in recent years the debt keeps piling up but outputs for sending the country from eight to eighteen place in the global rankings now would trade recently announced a slew of new cuts and tax hikes in a bid to try to cut the deficit spanish journalist miguel at home or rather told us during years of economic woes he's been failing to watch for an effective remedy to madrid. the problem is political is not it's not the economy of course the economy doesn't look very good but the problem in europe is the european union doesn't work as a natural political union. v.c.s.
1:12 pm
the patches that the european union can offer instead all for well doing some soul searching and trying to think how to make these mechanism work and i buy a mechanism i mean the european union we behave as different countries which yes of course we are part of the same currency. but dr saul we look for ourselves and i think it's not where can they are not offering real solutions just well remedies to to kick the can down the road as they say. the stereo t. is now a dirty word among britain's leaders even though the terminology is changing the no paid for mistake in full swing the best known everyone is convinced is working we're about that later plus. report back that wants to pick out exxon mobil from the super giant where one boiled project and potentially offer the place to russian a company that's another story.
1:13 pm
if you're passing through rushes to veer region you really can walk on the wild side. thousands of kilometers of unspoilt countryside make up an area where it's still possible to live off the land and enterprising locals so the fruits of the forest by the side of nearly every road such spectacular scenery makes it a paradise for fisherman and provides a business opportunity for hunters. you know he has been hunting for more than thirty years and works for a company providing expeditions for tourists this season ducks are on the menu. for two things a successful duck under. a bubble silence which means that i'm going to be very quiet i'm not going to write in the. office.
1:14 pm
but when you've been in the business as long as he has the birds don't stand much chance. there are defined hunting seasons in russia but lax enforcement means many animals are killed out of the allotted times which can leave young animals orphaned and unable to survive but environmentalists are fighting back the heart of just u.s. forest provides a sanctuary for the most famous beast in russia it's home to a group who rescue often bear cubs and raise them when they're old enough to fend for themselves the cubs a target taken to a remote location and released back into the wild but it's not just bears who find a haven here this is wolf island here wolf pups have been captured by hunters or bought from zoos have a second chance at life and conservationists have a unique opportunity to observe them these walls are all around four months old and they'll stay in this area for up to three years then most will go back to the wild
1:15 pm
for good just viewing them from the car was an experience in itself but then after a bit of a bumpy ride came an opportunity i just couldn't pass up. and this is what i was hoping for when i heard i was coming to a place called wolf i had a chance to get close and personal with the locals and it's these guys are going to act as pasta parents for the next generation will come here. using the old awards as surrogate parents has already proved a successful technique. every i place infant wolves with one year old wolf cubs whose parental instinct is totally shaped and they take them as their own cubs it's an important part of the world's development and a major factor in the success of a project which has seen more than twenty generations of cubs grow up here it's going to continue to take time and money to rehabilitate the wolf's reputation in russia but the keepers here hope their research and dedication mean that wolf

island remains a place where visitors can truly understand the call of the wild. british prime minister insists he'll hold firm on further austerity and there's bad news for anyone expecting him to loosen up in the near future to the i.m.f. so warning that the u.k. will miss its deficit targets this year nigel farage leader of the u.k. independence party told us david cameron policies are not bringing any meaningful change though to the recession ravaged economy. you know when david cameron talks about austerity what he fails to tell you is that we continue every year to run a massive budget deficit and by the end of his five years as prime minister but
1:17 pm
national debt in the u.k. will increase by fifty percent so i think we're having an entirely false debate david cameron is calling the british public into thinking that he's actually really cutting back at the levels of debt in our country and it's not true i think that the david cameron and george osborne combination. put together a coalition telling us they were going to deal with debt in this country they have absolutely failed to do so but haven't dealt with the deficit they haven't got growth coming back into the british economy i don't think the thing is a dramatic failure unless things turn around that i think the conservative party is in for a really terrible result in twenty fifteen at the next general election. well news in brief us joe drone strikes in northwest pakistan of killed at least ten suspected militants four missiles were fired in a compound in an area bordering afghanistan the attack comes days after a massive protest against american drone strikes in pakistan some estimates say the strategy is responsible for hundreds of civilian deaths. over

a thousand troops and thirty nine ships have taken part in japan's try and you will fleet review destroyers vessels and submarines learned to see. through the air you can see there japan's military is one of the largest and best equipped in the world but its role was constitutionally limited at the end of the second world war tokyo is currently embroiled in a standoff with beijing and taiwan over disputed mineral rich islands in the east china sea which they all claim. the race to the white house seems to be driving a deep a wedge between america and israel these days over iran's nuclear ambitions president obama's now using all his influence to try to rein in israel's increasingly aggressive stance towards to rand paul asli our middle east correspondent reports on how wide the divisions become. over the years israeli niger's have been very careful in expressing their stance towards american politics until now with us election is less than a month away israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu has made no bones about who
1:19 pm
he favors and it is not iraq obama that was basically. pushing obama in the united states around. pushing that not that forcing america to do anything that america doesn't want to do but forcing america to accept to shut up in the face of netanyahu is what netanyahu would job obviously does not like and netanyahu has done that as well to do that because you knows that there is such that the republicans are totally behind him netanyahu has had very public spats with the obama administration the most recent of which was sparked by his demand that the u.s. sit out the red lines for iran which if crossed would bring military action so far washington's refused prompting a tongue lashing from netanyahu. who. was. on the. wrong foot is already whining.
1:20 pm
at a recent united nations session netanyahu went further he produced the now famous bomb diagram while drawing a great line. never again strength not of her a g.'s his outburst appears in an anti obama advertisement that will be broadcast on u.s. networks paid all my an organization called secure america now what it's come down to now in america is if american politician criticizes israel that translates into support for couric or terrorism traditionally israeli leaders have relied on broad bipartisan support in the united states but netanyahu has had a rocky relationship with the bomber from the start and is ready to take sides with the prime minister he is a republican and he's aboard the. and soul netanyahu also seems convinced republican contender mitt romney will take a hard line on iran but netanyahu is perceived strategy looks risky to israelis who
1:21 pm
fear they were alliance with the u.s. could be in trouble if the incumbent wins especially when it comes to recognizing a palestinian state i think it will come back through the u.n. if the vote on the recall commission i think the reverse which the american river will be there will not work against it as they worked last year. the result will be you really think. so they show that israelis are more worried about losing this strategic alliance with the united states then they are of war with iran however few observers believe there is a real threat of u.s. israeli relations becoming seriously damaged but it is highly likely that the obama netanyahu relationship will become even more strained should both leaders be reelected. to business it's twenty one and a half minutes past nine in the sea dimitri their evening radio reports suggesting today that a. mobile out of a key all feel. now so i was talking about the huge the gigantic west current one

project and apparently exxon mobile is to be replaced with a russian company indeed well the company has infuriated baghdad by signing deals with the northern kurdish region iraq is reportedly considering russia's lukoil and gas from nafta both of them already involved in the country but the russian companies declined to comment. capital outflow from russia could reach eighty four billion dollars this year same as two thousand and eleven according to the deputy minister of economic development since two thousand eight hundred two almost three hundred sixty billion dollars which is equal to the g.d.p. of the united arab emirates and the u.s. labor department has once again surprised investors with the jobless claims dropping by thirty thousand last week they announced. and at the lowest since two thousand and eight last week the unemployment rate which is a sticking point in the presidential debate dropped to seven point eight percent and this has had a big effect on the market supporting them today despite

reported and did you have a new conversation with mr karzai. no luck on that one but we did take him to task on the bear stearns acquisition and the civil fraud suit we'll show you what he said later in the show let's get to today's capital account. in the most grey and an inspiring of context out of burgeoning e.u. bureaucracy our next guest has managed to amass a highlight reel second to none turning his european parliamentary position into a bully pulpit for a growing movement of euro skeptics take a look. you are all in denial by any objective measure the euro is
1:29 pm
a failure just who the hell do you think you people are you are very very dangerous people indeed your obsession with creating this euro state means that you're happy to destroy democracy so what are you saying that this isn't quite as bad as the u.s.s.r. had totally underestimated the complete fanaticism mr barroso of you your college your commissioners and the european central bank yes it will mean you lose your job mr brightside but apart from that apart from that why can't we do things as mature democracies yes i want you sacked mr shields as well i want you all fired you have the charisma of a damn rag on the appearance of a low grade bank clock and the question that i want to ask. the question that i want to ask that we're all going to ask is who are you. oh now everyone knows. that video went viral and everyone knows.
