studios this morning our top story at least twenty syrian security officers have reportedly been killed in twin bombings in the country south the latest violence comes as the opposition's meeting in cata an attempt to consolidate their alliance against damascus middle east correspondent paula slee as the latest. now what we understand is that there was an apparent double suicide attack according to activists on the ground the blast went off near a branch of the country's military intelligence in daraa that the explosions were followed by clashes between regime forces and rebels now targets and security institutions have become quite commonplace recently in syria earlier this week there was an attack in the problems of how men are kind of a critter claimed responsibility for that attack dozens of a seven euless that were killed while this violence is happening in syria the syrian opposition is meeting quite far away in the qatari capital of doha now there are deciding their fate this essentially is a meeting that has been called because many of the international backers of the

syrian opposition particularly the united states are unhappy with the deep divisions within the syrian opposition and at this stage it seems as if those divisions are going to prevent the syrian opposition from coming forward with any kind of a viable new opposition body the whole idea of these this meeting in doha was essentially to establish some kind of group within the syrian opposition in exile that would have more direct links with the opposition with inside the country that would be able to distribute aid and funding that the group is being accused of not being representative enough this despite the fact that the main opposition by the the syrian national council just yesterday friday did elect a new head there also critics who complain that the new legislative body being put forward is not representative enough or does not have enough women in it so he does not have enough minorities the syrian army which is the main armed opposition group in the country meanwhile has threatened the syrian president bashar assad that he'll follow the fate of the former libyan leader moammar gadhafi versus as assad
4:03 pm
said in an exclusive interview to our t.v. that he has no plans to leave office the state media department head said that assad is doomed take a listen. do you want. no he said he would not leave syria we know this very well because he will not be able to leave syria he and his people will not manage to leave the country for free syrian army will not let him do this you will not get out of syria alive you'll be lucky if you're not the same fate as now. so what we're witnessing is an increase on the ground in terms of the violence inside syria while the syrian opposition really struggling to try and form or united church group to try and deal with the situation. the opposition local coordination committees based in syria have announced that they're withdrawing from the s.n.c. which operates in exile the president of the arab lawyers association says the western backed efforts to create a revolution in syria from outside have failed. yes and see the only
4:04 pm
credibility it had was with the western powers we all remember when the us forced many countries to attend a meeting in turkey to recognize this as the legitimate representative of syria which was part of the political gimmick that the us and the western powers nato france britain there were following because what they wanted is the changer for e.g. but this is a unique case whereby there is a true revolution within syria but those who are recognized by the us and others have absolutely nothing to do with it and so most of them have never been there and most of them have been out of the country for tens of years and the us knew that and the west knew that but they were still nevertheless recognized as the representative of the people now they have come to realize that actually the region is going on in syria there is the i mean there is the people who are revolting in
4:05 pm
syria and they have no links with the external. people who are claiming to represent them so i don't think they credibility before i don't think they would have credibility at the present moment because this is an effort to create a group of you know of a visionary body the west created this something. they call the present that. should watch out a full exclusive interview with the syrian president's failed online to any time with r.t. dot com. the whole issue is not about. leaving it's a bold contribute thief or not so with a bin that we've been fighting us here i think for the president to stay or to leave is a popular issue it's not personal issue and the only way to define death. through the ballot box thought you thought about what we hear about what we get through that box and that box with any president because they all leave russia our allies

sided and hearty exclusive friday through sunday on r.t. and r.t. dot com. the rags defense minister has denied the country's cancelled a major arms deal with russia four billion dollars sales been put under review by baghdad amid concerns of internal corruption thomas as the details. certainly it has been a very curious and confusing as information and details have been coming out about this story throughout the day regarding the arms deal in the cancellation of this arms deal now r.t. has spoken with the iraqi prime minister's media adviser who says that there is an investigation into this deal regarding concerns of corruption on the iraqi side of things now this deal is on hold pending the results of that investigation now the timing of all of all of this is extremely curious as well considering this deal was just announced in early october which the deal itself is about four
4:07 pm
point two billion u.s. dollars which would make a russia the number two arms dealer behind the united states it is specifically geared towards air defense systems attack helicopters and missiles and it gives you a little bit of a look into the internal politics of iraq they're in a very vulnerable situation they are neighbors. and they've been looking to the united states for support they've been looking to iran for support as well as russia for support so kind of trying to play all sides of the deck if you will to gain some support in fact. he has said in the past that he doesn't want to be one countries when it comes to an arms monopoly which is one reason why he went to. the united states has raised some speculation that the united states might be losing some influence in the country and also some speculation that the united states itself may have put some pressure behind iran to cancel this deal now when it comes
4:08 pm
to this particular deal iraq has said that they are not canceling it at this moment in time things are just on hold until they can review this investigation pending the results at that time they say that they are going to be sending a new delegation to russia to review the deal pasta. he resigned the deal saying that some of the original negotiators on the iraqi side may have been the sources of this corruption which started this whole conflict in the first place government business consultant crystal horsfall says the complications of the deal or a sign of pressure from washington if this deal head gone through that would have meant for the iraqi people it kind of you know starting a balanced situation of the evening with east and west so to say and that would be healthy for the iraqi people because this is in line with their geographical very simple geographical situation now putting this deal under pressure you know that
4:09 pm
means that the u.s. are insisting on a monopole in the region it is it is very clear you know it is not mr maliki was calling the shots in the iraqi policies that is the u.s. right now and that they are not able you know to allow a little competition just a little you that is a very sad story for for washington and it doesn't bear good signs for the future. the government of bahrain calls on a new force to crackdown on those seeking reform for bahrain m.p. explains how the king of the country deals with those who dare to speak out against the government soft break. recently protests and demonstrations of any kind were banned until further notice
4:10 pm
and buck rein a curfew as in you can't go out of your home when the government doesn't want you to has already been in effect in the country since two thousand and eleven many of the protests which are now totally forbidden were related to members of the public demanding the release of political prisoners four people were also recently arrested for insulting the king over twitter wow a middle eastern country that has totally shut down any form of protest and hud's you down if you tweet about the leadership so it's pretty undemocratic to me and that nato is already fueling up ready to take action some freedom into warmer eight well not really if nato really cared about spreading democracy you'd think they'd be more consistent with their targets but that's just my opinion. you know sometimes you see a story and it seems so you think you understand it and then you glimpse something else you hear or see some other part of it and realize everything you thought you

one of the stars of the u.s. military general david petraeus has quit as cia chief citing poor judgment that led to an extramarital affair it's a rapid fall from grace for the man who was the u.s. army standard bearer in afghanistan and iraq you know to be in charge of the cia for just over a year the f.b.i. has reportedly found he was having an affair with this well grapher paula broadwell which raised concerns of the safety of the president as a file e-mail that focused on the author and journalist cora maxwell believes a major clash at the very top is behind the resignation saying it is about the need for a doctor to use of freestyles ignition is not as simple as that it appears to be in my personal opinion the differences between america so it will end militant if you do shit over the war in afghanistan or it will be general venturers and president obama if you were critical factors are going to already began to turn saw narwhal
4:14 pm
people bomb are ready to election he wants to extend her into a complete withdrawal of need to forces from afghanistan and to mature all of what is due to his policy to end the war and grab it such a manner i don't think she wanted our poor long president of american forces in afghanistan saw president obama has removed one doctor mean you're obstacle for him . to end the war in afghanistan. washington said it was first permanent military base in poland units stationed on the sole of its nato ally will help maintain aircraft unprepared joint drills now plans for the place were announced by barack obama during his visit to warsaw poland on wanted america to deploy fighter jets on its soil it's also been one of the most active proponents of the controversial european missile defense system which is to be deployed in the country's north russia's main street staunchly against the plans from the start saying they pose a threat to its national security and civil rights was brought back it told me
4:15 pm
thinks the moose short to raise tensions between moscow and washington. the agreement with the polish government to station u.s. military personnel there and going ahead with the creation of a missile defense shield which cannot be perceived in any other way by the russian government as a threat as a direct threat against russia also partly just to solidify and incorporate poland into an american influence on russia's border i think this says a lot about the obama administration playing the game of the military industrial complex which has a lot to gain economically and politically in terms of its own positioning in american politics by creating a new kind of cold war atmosphere with russia and that's what the missile defense shield is all about in addition to being very good for business they've spent one hundred billion dollars so far on missile defense shield. there's a bomber sets his eyes on europe people back in the us wonder if there is a change coming to their land too. i didn't vote i didn't really care why not.

i didn't even know like what anybody's data are just not something they just the idea is going to flow. with a tight race and six billion dollars of campaigning americans wondering if it was all worth it what shall i report from new york later in the program. bahrain's deployed paramilitary forces against protesters as a fresh wave vent to government rallies at the capital the troops were sent to back up police in an attempt to quell the rising political violence the latest series of protests began on friday after security forces tear gassed thousands of shia worshipers trying to reach a mosque for prayers a sixteen year old boy was killed in a traffic incident during the club but there was renewed violence at his funeral on saturday public gatherings are banned last week in a bid to end almost two years of progress from demonstrations crackdowns also see the citizenship revoked to thirty protests is one such activist explained why it. we had very strong position against corruption against. the

not yet clear why it came off the tracks the last railway tragedy in iran was eight years ago when a freight train carrying fuel and fertilizer exploded after the railing killing over two hundred eighty people. so four more years the white house for us president barack obama but the tight race an expensive elections left some voters less than satisfied artillery half a mistakes a political pulse check and a big gap at all take a look. the u.s. presidential election is finally over now what this week let's talk about that did you vote are you happy with the outcome yes i mean what do you expect to change in the next four years. i guess i was. expecting for you me because. i was going to choose i didn't vote i didn't really care why not i don't even know why quote anybody stood for just not something that
4:20 pm
interests me i just go with the flow so you don't think it affects your everyday life oh it sure does. i'm sure it does but do i have much control over it and it really feel that but voting is the only way that you can control i still and feel like i had that much control no i didn't why not i was torn between the two. in my own interest but there were more than two running you could have voted for someone else. there were more the people that were running for the presidency and you didn't even know it the parties are too strong and they're entrenched and i don't think. that what about if we start really trying to separate money from politics or put solutions like that on the table. we'll have the right to vote. the people out do you think though there might be room for a third party come two thousand and sixteen. well whatever i. hope and they can do
4:21 pm
something but it's you know it's a tough road to go you know what's it going to take for the american people to wake up and realize there's more than two parties. i'm not sure i sometimes think we put a lot of pressure on the president and a lot of the change has to come from with us as well you know we can't rely on him one hundred percent you know you got to you got to get up in the morning and you've got to work for your country yourself you can't rely on one man to do it all for you oh i. i think the only people in this country that have ever really been able to make a difference usually end up dead. that is so sad sad but true but. do you think it'll ever changes. i would hope it would i don't know what the catalyst for that would be but so you think you can be a catalyst don't you think that people can demand more and make a change. i'd like to think that so do you think that we can make people more aware in these four years that we have until the next election i think so how do we do that. that's a good question we're doing it right now we are whether or not you expect anything
4:22 pm
to change in the u.s. the bottom line is real change is probably not going to start with the president in visioning it it's going to start with the people demanding it. it's a lot versus hollywood says his tax attack on the wealthiest french citizens take a star on the legendary film father and your argument is rumored to be making a dust for his cash now he's not the only one either fleeing from for reporting about online plus too fat to be killed an american death row inmate tries to avoid lethal injection on account of his weight and the stories that are to go. here after a short break laura mr explores why dozens of companies in recent years neglected to give investors a heads up about their impending bankruptcy follow why. really shortly tonight.

in the march undergone these men and women a walking one of the longest believe the loneliest road in the world they reenacting the march into exile many. by thousands of czarist russia. if i was here three hundred years ago i may have disappeared my local lord i may have deserted from the army or a variety of other crimes the result was the same what my fellow prisoners around me i've got a long and very cold walk ahead into exile in siberia yet it took them years to get their summers and winters entire years a lot of people died on the way this group in the western siberian region of alms discovered they're living on the only surviving stretch of the original nine thousand kilometers of the siberian exiles track that's had no modern changes made

to it yevgeny discovered that he's descended from some of these exiles and decided to build a museum telling a story he and his re-enact is now receiving to us from all over the world to show them what it was like for these bloody good earnest it's scary to put the shackles on of course but it's interesting if we don't remember our history we will have no future. it's a monument to one of the restructures cruelest chapters. the city serves as the capital of anticommunist white russian leader admiral culture shock in the civil war from one thousand nine hundred to nine hundred nineteen whilst in residence he lived here though the study of the man like the maintenance of this building has remained a taboo right up until the present day or we still receive hate mail saying that he hanged a lot of people and was famous for severe punishment it's all true but it was a time of civil war both sides were monstrously cruel it is sadly the theme of

gold silver is here to weigh in and cvo was out with a view of what a plunge would mean as far as a recession and unemployment goes and it's not about what the demographic that wakes up and says this is going to. holy demographic that realizes they have no savings this is according to michael owen he'll tell us all about it let's get to today's capital account. all right let's talk about the fiscal cliff because how can you avoid it the impact
4:28 pm
from going over it would be a recession in the u.s. economy next year and an increase in the jobless rate to nine point one percent by the end of two thousand and thirteen at seven point nine percent now and a deal to avert this would mean a deficit five hundred three billion dollars higher than it would otherwise have been in fiscal year two thousand and thirteen now this is all according to a new congressional budget office report the c b o is a supposedly nonpartisan research arm for congress keep in mind these are the folks that a few months ago said growth will average four point three percent from two thousand and fourteen through two thousand and seventeen rate the u.s. hasn't seen for more than a decade but who knows pigs can fly maybe they'll fly off the fiscal cliff we don't know but the political rhetoric has started flying back and forth that's for sure house speaker john boehner today said this we're spending a trillion dollars more than what we take. you can't continue to do this. this is year two the twenty four of your demographic bubble. that was
4:29 pm
a wonder anyone could see it coming. baby boomers won't be returned every day. a demographic bubble now of course boehner is using this argument to talk about reforming entitlements but actually our guest counts as group as part of the demographic that wakes up and says oh holy i have no savings what to do well joining me from our l.a. studios mike malone to tell us he is founder of gold silver dot com author of the book the guide to investing in gold and silver part of the rich dad poor dad series and he's always someone that we hear a capital account in our viewers love to hear from so thanks so much for being on the show this friday thank you lauren and how are you doing now i actually can't hear a word that you just said but i can get that fixed and i think you just said thank you but now that the elections are over it is all about the fiscal.
