group of us from socially. it was a competition with skills to check our skills and. skills and personal qualities and they learned plenty of things that should be of great help for the sochi games but has. no problem. with. stand we saw that. we saw the competition with their. dance floor. by twenty feet seen there could be up to twenty five thousand volunteers ready to join them in sochi so we'll see just people the organizers want . to see the kind of. your country

and their presence in the last. always so ready to go. and there's no shortage of applicants wanting to prove themselves especially here in the host city . now looking off for all the visitors to sochi twenty fourteen is obviously going to be a massive job but that doesn't mean that everybody makes the cut i'm going to meet one man who thinks he's got what it takes. i mean you say you're ready for this yeah excellent nineteen year old flood is a student at sochi university and understandably he's nervous about the recruitment process my time come along with these questions finally today. i don't know what to expect so what sort of things do you think they're looking for maybe they will ask some questions about my previous ones your experience all something like details of my private life i really don't know what islam. settle down for his interview the head recruiter showed me around to university was one of

just twenty six higher education facilities in russia picked as a recruitment center for more than one hundred fifty choices. many of their interviews are done over the internet but those who do come in for a face to face may just have a little less saw it. on the seventh of february twenty twelve two years to the day before the start of the twenty fourteen olympics will at this volunteer heart and krasnaya polyana. each aspiring volunteer is asked to touch the heart to symbolize that all of the volunteer dreams will come true. and that means that the shore one hundred percent to become volunteers of the twenty fourteen olympics don't touch itself. you know you're a volunteer. feeling the love that i gave. around half an hour later it was finished and in confident mood. my previous experience in the ring my previous experience team building things like that. so i had. a

little experience so there was no problems in. this questions so confident then yes i'm confident that there will be wearing our volunteers. so it's my dream it's going to take a while to fill all the available spots but those who are hoping to be selected a really getting into the spirit of things the olympic volunteer movement in sochi isn't just about the olympic games many of the people here want to serve their community and leave a lasting legacy and i'm here to see. what they're up to. in the sort of high school a group of young people are preparing for a generations for peace conference. set up by prince faisal of jordan intern international organization dedicated to developing youth leaders and peace building is being run by philip and pavel book putting together a whole days. some activities. everyone's must before trump's initial press

conference where the organizers are hoping to get the g.s.t. message across to the media. here just for them to teach people skillful conflict of these buildings they need to know the dialect is the key to respond. to what generations because teach them with these guys will still be working during the olympics was to some of the stuff that called some of them who will yes. and once the local press is rolled in pastor outlined his ideas for the next few days. good. morning. sheets if you look at those pics because it was. the following morning we were split up into three groups and it was time for a few bonding sessions with my new team mates.

centers this is a jump the focus is strongly on space it wasn't long before we were moving around. so little bit says the key to victory in this case was. that in the russian sphere. once we don't have a chance to get to know each other i wanted to find out what people were hoping to take away from the camp i think a lot of rounds and i also try. to think that it actually you see with an option that's one skill yeah of course first of all skills. selfish. to be in or to help other people i'm so looking to eventually lead conference's if there are. actually what interested me in the mission of jen. narration for peace. through sport and sport activities and working with people mostly with. children.
1:38 am
promoting tolerance is one of the central ideas behind generations for peace and many of the group exercises focus on conflict resolution by the end of the week my team will be making a thirty minute presentation showing how they feel can best be achieved. i think even if it's hopeful to move most of the front of the. house to the complete them say what machines were raised to where the major problems that they. are. there are a number of seminars and question and answer sessions but there's also plenty going on outside the classroom. this is the generations for peace main goal to develop peace sustainable peace and tolerance through sports so all the delegates need support programs to be taught. they will work with children after the camp
1:39 am
so now they will have an example. for children that they will implement off in the camp so this is extremely important and they can be many more universal sports. on their watch that. he seems like you know what he's doing. but with the generations of pismo so being policy told him we were playing an appropriate game and philip and pavel household series of activities lined up for us on. this friday so you want. if you have. no you need to ask the person there's no sleep so i say yes sir if you

have seen about someone as my space or yeah ok are experts stood up but it's the bottom english should be pretty good at giving the ball away. and the focus here is on getting everyone involved trolls and competition. as the main goal of our. programs is still. the communication and will connect people is a charge that on the one team a decent of him on the mix of teams and all the wanting coming it's just so be destroyed by this between two teams and so is the stereotypes that football can play on the two teams again that's how it has been along the fascinating day of the g.s.t. campaign going to wait to see what else we're going to tackle. this

learn new techniques focused on peace building and making their hometown a better place some of the participants immutable interior but others like the old times and already making a difference. in addition to my regular work i'm also engaged in volunteer activity or being at those volunteer activity is basically focused on old people and children and that's our target. our volunteers take care of people who can't leave home for one reason are the other maybe they're sick or something like that for example. when we help them well go to the shop or just help out around the house or oneself obama guy and. so i met up with a moment of the home visits. and see that it's so different but were true is a place we come to go through friends made fun of

is exactly the sort of thing that generations for peace is trying to encourage us of course they're always looking for support back at camp the delegates were learning how to ask for backing. so this is kareena presenting a pitch as to why some local leaders should join generations for peace and now she's trying to convince the audience here. public speaking is another skill that's developed on the forums encourage the participants to face their fears. i was on the recent. large it's not large but. but practice makes perfect and the exercises give everyone's confidence of boost and there are plenty of games to break up the day. celebration. this is. a work. in the future all the volunteers will lead activity groups from local

a full everyone gets the chance to show exactly what they've learnt presentation and conflict resolution. and three days for the whole world. that's so radical still. aside from conflict resolution we also saw presentations on creating sports programs for children of negotiation. each group used different techniques to get their points across with question and answer sessions powerpoint slide shows and plenty of games. clearly put a lot of effort in and it was well appreciated and when the camp during two clues remained was to say a few. i didn't really know first of all what to expect when i came here but i think thanks to patches fantastic organization and your amazing enthusiasm i've seen a lot of people who obviously really want to make a difference to the community and it's been fantastic for me to be

a part of it. but i certainly wasn't the only one who had a memorable experience. i think the most. the most valuable thing that practice and knowledge to build. a ship. and update it. implemented all my knowledge and in practice unfortunately i think we did a lot of work we our presentation our projects and our duty to create some physical activity and now i know how to do it and how did the false feel about everything. myself why a little bit because this. teaching huge group of people with only to train. it was a great challenge but i think we have done our best and. the program is well done
1:53 am
and there was just enough time to create. strong memories will become find a place to store. people like these so choose future it's a limpet movement seem in very safe. it was almost time for me to head home to moscow but i was going to have one last chance to watch the volunteers put the new knowledge into practice. like all the many better things to do on a sunny summers day them to come out and play with your friends but not every parent has the time to spare to supervise them and that is where people like the next year come in. every sunday they run an open play session for local children of all ages and as you can see it's pretty popular. don't school russian style go a bit of a problem here and are the biggest small kids and i was i need to lay my inevitable

. before. i can tell you no by attention to. my bowling and children the most robust legal bit of this class. nasty has been working with them for more than a year and eventually wants to do it full time. for being a volunteer it's a very important occupation like many responsibilities of cutting people isn't really easy easy easy might think i'm starting to be a social worker and very glad to help people i really love children i'm looking forward to having my own family day and well just keep on doing this kind of work. and the kids aside me hoping she does something this is the russian version of the quote going landfall. is the. measure of course a problem when you try to do

a live show but all these children get the jones come and play it safe place for all of them given their parents already know where they are not what makes the world by the phone much because. the session goes on for several hours even if they're a want to bumps and bruises at the end everyone has a great time. but it's not all fun and games it's very educational so. i can swim so you can swim. my name at least. you. know what. all those people feel. safe by everybody safe by the way that they come around the safety. i think. with english conversations like that to enjoy how could i not feel at home with the olympics coming up i spent a good chunk of the summer seeing what was going on in and around sochi but meeting the volunteers and working with g.f.p.
1:56 am
had been the best part of all i really only an experience. i met so many highly motivated young people in the last few days it's been quite humbling to be part of it the volunteers who really do want to make a better place and that means even though the winter games are still a way away the olympic spirit is definitely alive and well.
