a russian passenger jet overshoots of the runway at a moscow airport breaks into pieces and careens into a busy highway the investigation into the cause of the tragedy which left four members of the crew dead is underway. witnesses to the incident are driving along moscow's major highway were shot we hear from the passers by who became the first rescuers on the scene. last dialogue or help the un arab league's a peace envoy during a meeting with the russian foreign minister warns that the syrian rebels refusal to compromise could lead to further outbreaks of violence in the country.

and live from moscow this is r.t. certainly glad to have you with us. four people have been killed after a passenger plane crashed onto one of moscow's main highway the jet broke into three parts and the right wing caught fire after overshooting the runway if you know by our port on board there were only eight crew members of four survived but are in serious condition with head injuries are t. is more of an ocean has the latest full people have died three man the captain the flight engineer and the second pilot and one woman twenty eight year old. been all clearly severely injured all of them have been young people as far as we know the oldest one has been just thirty two years old and all of them have been flight attendants and now their true being treated at different hospitals here in
7:02 pm
moscow and we're hearing from the doctors who have been taken care of them for these latest hours and to all of them are in a very serious condition and the condition of one of them is set to be very critical but the air to pollute to all four airliner flying from the czech republic to moscow care reared off the runway at new cover airport while lending and then crashed into one of the city's busiest highways caves highway and then broke into three parts and almost immediately caught on fire at the ross three main causes that are considered. to be the reason all of these tragedy and they are weather conditions. of pilot error and technical failure but i have to say that both the captain and the second pilot have been very experienced passionless with the fifteen thousand for the captain and ten thousands of flight hours for the
7:03 pm
second pilot sully every asian expres saying that one of the reasons why it all went wrong could be the fact that the airplane that is designed to carry at least two hundred people has been almost empty and it's very hard they say it's even harder to land. an empty plane than to land a full plane. now it's not difficult to imagine the shock of those who were driving along the major highway close to moscow when a passenger jet with a capacity of two hundred plowed into the side of the road the very first images of the crash appeared on social networks within minutes including this video posted on the internet shot from outside a car passing by the scene of the crash many of those driving by stops to give aid to the injured are waiting with and then before the emergency services to arrive i would guess. was one of those helping at the scene. i saw one woman
7:04 pm
we kind of denied it was the flight attendant christina she said that the plane overshot the runway but they weren't carrying any passengers and then there is another survivor flight attendant that the rescue unit came very surprised but the ambulance couldn't get through because of the traffic so we gave the injured flight attendant first aid so best knowledge called her mother to tell her she's ok strapped home and language and clever you could find and even found a con to take her to hospital. the plane crashed right next to a busy highway yet there were no deaths of motorists driving by mark weiss a retired american airlines captain and a member of the civil aviation team at the spectrum group says the experience to crew might have prevented a major tragedy. in a very prejudiced way because i'm a pilot and have more than twenty years for airline flying i want to say that it was probably some situational awareness that the pilots had that they saw what was
7:05 pm
happening to the aircraft and did their best either through most of the rudder pedals at this team's time using the engines to help also turn the airplane more thrust on one side and less on the other will also help turn the airplane so you want a cigarette or member of these things happen in such a short period of time that taking a look at what's happening and how to try and control over a secure ship takes a lot of skill it's not something you practice in a simulator going off the end of a runway so the experience and the combine to prevent a more catastrophic situation from occurring until now the tuple of two of four has had a little history of accidents shocking reports on this particular model of airliner and the company that owns it. this is the first incident involving the triple of two or four blind where people died so the first fatal incident involving the
7:06 pm
spline only once only on one occasion the triple of two or four has been actual incident two years ago and had a crash landing nobody was killed only a few were minor injuries were reported back then so this is the first time something like this happened it is generally considered considered to be a very reliable plane that carries more than two hundred passengers very widely used for charity flights of russian tourists all major holiday destinations the company itself is a charter company called the red wings it's owned by alexander the liberty of russian billionaire who is a very prominent figure and he's been trying to run for mayor of office several years ago he also owns several british newspapers. including the evening standard so generally it's been a very good company i've used them couple of times and you know i've never thought they would actually have an incidence something like that and their safety record speaks for itself of course a small blessing it was that there were no passengers on board of the plane which
7:07 pm
can carry more than two hundred that's amid a busy holiday season aviation safety expert david lear mt explains why the jet was almost empty. the clue is with the fact that this is a chance or airline it does a lot of charter work and therefore it had a task a chartered toss to carry people out to the czech republic but it didn't have a cost to bring bring them back until probably a later date meanwhile i suspect the airline needed its aircraft back at base to do other work so i think you'll find out find that this was what in the trade is called up positioning flight it was positioning the empty aircraft back to its base on the runways long enough the weather wasn't particularly a problem there was some very light snow at the time but you know for anybody who operates in the moscow airport at this time of the year that shouldn't be a problem. of course it does reduce the occasion on the runway the braking efficiency of the airplane but the pilots of course have to and you know it's their
7:08 pm
job to make allowances and if braking action is not very good it when an aircraft goes over the end of the runway like this it's almost always because the aircraft for some reason landed too fast which would be a case of misjudgment unless there was a technical reason and we haven't heard any invention yet or that the true again a misjudgment issue landed too far down the runway and therefore couldn't stop by the end of it. the international peace envoy for syria says there are only two directions for the conflict a political process or hell and russia's foreign minister at a meeting with locked are brahimi in moscow said the syrian opposition's refusal to talk with the government only paves the way for further bloodshed artie's you've got a piece going off has been following the talks. the biggest stumbling block in the syrian conflict right now is that the opposition is rejecting any compromise saying
7:09 pm
strictly that president assad has to go while assad himself says he's not going anywhere he's protecting his country and moscow says nobody's able to persuade him to change his mind and neither side is willing to put its weapons down if. you know the only alternative is. clearly had on a political process then we have all of us to work says listening for the political process mr brahimi added that this should be a syrian allowed political process which should be based on the agreements reached by wolf hours in geneva and they include forming a transitional government which could include all sides of the conflict but the opposition is not only unwilling to negotiate with the syrian authorities it's now rejecting direct talks with moscow which has been trying to be a mediator and we've heard from the leader of the recently established opposition for lucian who demanded moscow to apologize for what he said was support for
7:10 pm
president assad. and i understand that mr had tb is probably not very experienced in politics if he's looking to be a serious politician it is in his interest to hear our position from us and not from the media that sometimes distorts information so i'll repeat we're ready to talk to all opposition forces but we start from the premise that they should not only think about their own ambitions but also the fate of the syrian people and if they think that russia could play a role in the country's tragedy they should meet our representatives without preconditions official notice meanwhile the violence is continuing to escalate in syria there have been more terrorist attacks the rebels have been also attacking states military air strips of wild government troops have been responding with more shelling. syrian political activist dollar says in order for rebels to prove they represent their country the national coalition must agree to hold talks when the

opposition opposition the coalition now the national coalition rejects the russian offer and the progress made by the right here me this again raises a skepticism around their real intention to proceed with a peaceful solution to the crisis in syria the syrian coalition now has decision from me probably an executive and important decision to make whether they want to proceed and join the talks abides by the geneva communique or still get stuck really down with the islamist governments that are supporting them and for them really for them to prove their credibility in syria and for them to prove that they represent a fragment of the syrian opposition or from the syrian population they have to get to get on board now is the turn comes to the united states to apply pressure on on
