cameron who spent most of last year cheering on islamist rebels in syria has now taken the line that islamist rebels in mali are the biggest dangers to the world and we must intervene that britain must help france regardless of the consequences to britain and i think it's a very misguided policy unfortunately the political elite in britain seem to be all behind his policy which is very disturbing but i think the public speaking for the public i think we're very concerned about what's going on basic back to twenty eleven it was david cameron and william hague people like this who were the loudest most aggressive cheerleaders for the deposing of colonel gadhafi who was the biggest who work against al-qaeda in northern africa and now the very same people cameron in the hague are the ones saying we've got to get it in involved in the mali operation to to to put down al qaeda groups there and so there's a real inconsistency here real hypocrisy you know why is fighting out here africa is is that the biggest cause why did we play such an active role in toppling the one leader in northern africa who actually was it was

country is in the throes of the final stages of collapse collapse under it under the weight of its own corruption collapse under the weight of its own incompetence so it's a major development it's important to remember that these demonstrations may not leave immediately to change or immediate collapse the fall of the government itself but the process has a started it's a failed democratic system it's a small clique of elite politicians who are intermarried interrelated to each other through family marriages and so forth and they're divided in the using different parties to sort of divide the cake and of course indulge in massive corruption i think in the in the seventy year history of modern pakistan we've seen the most corrupt government ever in this short history of. government slogans are driven by the discontent over corruption and a flawed electoral system included calls for

12:14 pm
live from moscow this is r.t. glad to have you back with us israel will elected parliament in two days time and prime minister benjamin netanyahu is predicted to come out on top yet many israelis today don't think that he is being radical enough policia reports why many of netanyahu is right wing allies are changing their minds. he's the surprise success story in campaign one tween millionaire who says a palestinian state would be suicide for israel naftali bennett used to work for prime minister netanyahu but now he's working at taking supporters away from him like this man who used to be a diehard supporter of netanyahu so he could party until these elections rolled around the likud is. a bus full of right wing members of knesset with
12:15 pm
a left wing person driving the bus. as far as being i mean. yes even though i am opposed to it. i would say most members of the likud obviously women is for it the irony is that while the world sees netanyahu as a right wing leader at home he's losing face among supporters for not being focused enough this is part of the right wing campaign he's up against there are some things we all know one never happen in the sopranos will never return for another season ramiele climbs a line with a marker on our pro and a peace agreement with the palestinians will not happen promises like this have put bennett's jewish home party in food position it's poised to take more than twelve percent of parliamentary seats analysts say netanyahu while still expected to serve another term is running scared he's up his rhetoric i say in the most clear of
12:16 pm
terms the western wall is not occupied territory i don't care what the un says we will build in jerusalem because it's our right not on your hands we could list has grown even more right wing with radicals like this woman high up in the pecking order. but the likud retain a party is a party with values the state of israel is a state of the jews whose eternal capital. but what will be the implications of such rhetoric after the elections many israelis are asking themselves about the day after will netanyahu become more rightwing and risk drawing israel into conflicts with its neighbors or will he back down and risk losing face among his supporters. is hoping for the latter that netanyahu will listen to world opinion and reach a compromise with the palestinians he knows all too well what the current cycle of violence can bring speakers daughter was killed in a suicide bombing seventeen years ago. that we don't have unfortunately in the

center and the left. leader who is significantly charismatic to lead this country and give its people hope the left is also divided but i do think netanyahu will find a way to compromise because of world pressure but that compromise won't come easy enough to the bennett solution to the israeli palestinian conflict is to annex most of the west bank while allowing palestinians limited self rule in the wrist and while that might not seem a plausible idea to most of the international community it's exactly what his constituency wants to hear a fact natanya who is acutely aware of policy r.t. tel aviv. and r.t. will be closely following the election on the twenty second of january giving you in-depth coverage. how will change with to run develop rule sets over the expansion isolate can there be peace with gaza what's next in relations with america will letting you know who survive his snap election on january twenty second. israel

decides what arts are. still to come in the program lucky to be alive a man survives falling from a moving train half naked in the middle of a siberian forest at minus forty degrees celsius find out more in just a couple minutes right here on our team. barack obama is now officially beginning his second presidential term having just taken the oath of office at the white house within the past few minutes on monday he's expected to paint the prospects for the next four years and pledge to deliver on some promises he's so far failed to keep let's now get reaction from james lark the former head of america's libertarian party mr lark thank you very much for being with us now obama has of course made progress in the last four years he's pulled the us out of recession and ended the war in iraq among other things what do you expect for the
12:19 pm
next four years. first of all i'm not sure that we should give president obama credit for united states. i think we would have seen the united states coming out of our economic situation regardless of what president obama in terms of his efforts the stimulus indeed i suspect that in some ways the efforts by the obama administration actually slowed down the american that. my guess my guess is that mr obama will continue to pursue his a program of expanding government with its domestic policies certainly we'll see how obamacare actually works minute state governments are now involved in trying to determine whether or not they will set up health care exchanges i suspect will continue to see the obama administration involvement more and more in the offing with respect to foreign policy there are a few hopeful signs of the nomination of
12:20 pm
a goal as the i think that this has some of us because some her ego was not as much of a supporter of the united states involvement in the middle as other people so i think that there is a possibility that this is far less american involvement in the middle east but given the extent to which the obama administration still seems to be wedded to a program and drones the hour it has the various laws specifically the issue of being able to target and assassinate people sensibly around the world including the fears americans i'm not particularly sanguine about the prospects or move forward toward the united states being a country which basically respects international police and also its largest respects liberties of our own people now you just mentioned the continuation of the
12:21 pm
use. of drones on foreign policy specifically obama has been expanding deadly drone strikes in several countries while standing by the policy of targeted killing of terror suspects none of these methods are legal as far as international laws are concerned but does that actually worry us politicians or even the public for that matter unfortunately it doesn't seem to worry many of the politicians in washington and there are some people who have expressed their concerns about it the nomination of mr brennan and inspections this is something of great concern to many people. unfortunately partly many of my fellow americans don't seem to care about american junction of course overseas we are still many we are in the middle of the war on terrorism and unfortunately despite the fact that many of us for example in the libertarian party are trying to make our noses and where we just don't seem to be
12:22 pm
getting a lot of slack. now if you go back obama's recently extended the military's authority to detain terror suspects without charge or trial are americans ok with this bush era policy and that it's still in effect really. actually i don't think most americans are hate with it but generating the solar or the opposition to them to halt these programs is there a very difficult most people are simply too busy living their lives basically raising their families their jobs generating the sort of illegal opposition it's like to stop this program requires an enormous amount of effort and there are many issues about which people are concerned civil liberties in the united states again increased involvement of the american some of them so there are many issues with which libertarians would certainly take issue with the obama administration and
12:23 pm
generating the sort of broad based office system is just very very difficult and finally washington has threatened iran has called for regime change in syria and is now rallying its forces in asia right on china's doorstep what's your assessment on whether obama's going to be making the world anything for in the next four years unfortunately i don't think he's going to be making the world safer course it's possible predicting the future is very very difficult or perhaps we will see within the united states we will see an increased statement on the american people that the president needs to sensibly quit trying to threaten replying to impose america's vision on the rest of the world again whether or not we can generate or whether it will response i don't know all right appreciate the thoughts live from the u.s. that's james lark former head of the lip libertarian party being with us here on r.t. now catching of the train took a bizarre twist in rural russia this week
12:24 pm
a man who survived after falling out of a carriage barely dressed for a night in a freezing siberian forest in winter earlier artie's tom barton shared with me how the man managed to make it out of the woods alive. if we picture the scene we've got forty two year old valarie malkoff a lorry driver in this train clickety clack ing its way through the forests in the a more region in russia's far east at night he decides to go for a cigarette but nothing special so he goes to the vestibule at the end of the carriage smokes his cigarette and then as he stays went to open the door to go back to his carriage except it was the wrong door and he falls out the back of the train so he rapidly realizes that he is not just running to catch up with the train but for his very life we managed to talk to him earlier he was a little bit embarrassed about the whole thing when i fell out i only had parents
12:25 pm
slippers and t. shirt i ran for seven kilometers i didn't curse minitab and i just saw the train was gone so i came quickly to my senses and started running so that i didn't freeze i ran on the railway track for about twenty or thirty minutes when i go to the nearest station their eyes popped out after they saw a man with almost no clothes on women there quickly gave me tea and reported what just happened i didn't tell this to anybody my wife found out about the incident only after a journalist called her i would imagine that the phone call he had with his wife after she had found help not from him but from journalists was possibly a little bit strained luckily he's ok no injuries no hypothermia he's back at work there will be an investigation into perhaps the whether the train guard had forgotten to lock the back door of the train which as we can see was a probably quite a big oversight if it turns out that that was what happened it's also possibly one factor that made him run
12:26 pm
a bit faster was that we've recently reported on or in the far eastern siberia there's been quite a lot of problems with packs of ravenous wolves being there so i imagine he if he had that in mind if you knew about that possibly something to spur him on a bit faster. and we're just a couple minutes away from our special report the give special insight into a bloody rivalry between america's two most criminal gang stay with r.t. for that. you know sometimes you see
12:27 pm
a story and it seems so you think you understand it and then you glimpse something else you hear or see some other part of it and realized everything you thought you knew you don't know i'm tom harpur welcome to the big picture. the news that secret laboratory to mccurry was able to build a new its most sophisticated robot which will unfortunately doesn't give a dollar amount anything tunes mission to teach music creation why it should care about humans and we're going this is why you should care only on the dog.

please. please. please please please. feel. my little brother walk out the door to school six in the morning and get him is going to school so you've got that what's up a signal in his world be up that are in a morning just know i'm saying to do something like that. we've been burying i want to offer a while comrades and we don't shoot outs at the funeral when another one of our way
12:29 pm
gets killed at the funeral and then. sold as we live amongst each other there might be one street it might be one gas station this service to with three different gangs well when i get to the gas station i have to find out what are your intentions with me while i'm pumping gas so i cannot turn my back and allow you to shoot me or hit me in the back of it to look you in your eyes and see your intentions and when i look you in your eyes i'm looking to see if you all would feel well and i'm a wolf then we need to come to some sort of agreement so we can both get out of here peacefully. and if your porch up i'm happy to let me go and get my guestbook up i appreciate you being here but i was in the communities talking to guys in the game seeing lots of content with that so many of these particularly the younger guys had never seen the pacific ocean in a gang infested community there are situations where people will not.
