so it's a russian passenger jet carrying over one hundred sixty people involved in a mid-air incident over syria allegedly escaping rocket fire. while in damascus itself serious problems to survive on a par apparent assassination attackers a car bomb explodes near a school in kindergarten killing ten people. speculation emerges that one of the boston bombing suspects could be trained in georgia as the country's prime minister admits there may have been militant camps on this soil. and the russian couple desperate for the return of their baby son after he seized the u.s. social services to talk to us about their family battle that's ongoing.
3:01 pm
how live from eleven pm here it's cover now in with the top news stories for you this could have your company well first off just heard the russian passenger jets been involved in an incident in the skies above syria it's a maneuver around what may have been rocket fire it was a north wind airlines airbus a three twenty that was returning to russia from the egyptian resort city of sharm el sheikh at the time our reporter who has been watching developments to see this story's been coming in over the last couple of hours tell us a bit more about what we know about what happened to the plane hi there well of course a lot of conflicting information but here's what we know so far about the situation as you mentioned it was a norway and airbus a three twenty we know that it had landed safely in its destined destination which is the city of cazan in one of the russian republics that was leaving the resort city in egypt as you have mentioned. and what we know
3:02 pm
from officials so far here in russia is that the jet faced some sort of danger but it's quite unclear at the moment exactly what that was as you had mentioned there have been some conflicting reports about potential missiles but that is not something that we've been able to confirm whatsoever at the moment all we can say is there was some sort of an incident and according to russian officials the pilots themselves had reported seeing some sort of potential military action that they felt could be a danger to the plane and they reportedly took a base of actions but again this is not been confirmed as of now what we do know is that there's at least one hundred fifty seven passengers on board everyone has landed safely so far as i mentioned in cars on the former russian republic there's no one it's quite unclear at the moment who or what may have caused this so-called dangerous incident again a lot of misinformation out there on the internet out there on twitter but we do know that russian officials have said that they're going to investigate this issue
3:03 pm
and try to get to the bottom of it we have to keep in mind of course that over the past more than two years now syria has faced rather dire state of civil war where the embattled government of president bashar al assad has been growing fighting a growing insurgency various groups of rebels who have been rebelling against the government it's been a serious state of civil war with that has claimed more than seventy thousand lives and of course heavy weapons on the ground both within of course the military of president bashar al assad and also with the rebels there have been some reports of anti aircraft weapons in the hands of the air the rebels but again it is far too soon to speculate how that may tie if it does it all in a probably doesn't with what's going on this evening so what we can of course so far is that the passengers do seem to be safe and we will of course keep you updated on all the latest as the details come in. from french remote. right in damascus itself syria's prime minister's survived of bomb blast targeting
3:04 pm
his convoy it's thought ten people died and thirteen others were wounded in that explosion which had been a busy district his local correspondent. with the latest from the capital about it . the blast took place today in nine o'clock admitted the prime minister's convoy in. which they see it was a bomb that was dashed b.m.w. a black that was two days ago. we had to come for usually goes from his house to his office usually to convoy from different foods every day but this time he. was this way and intentionally. placed. that took place near. the school and thanks god this happened when this children went inside so one only two of them were injured. and stick and it's way it's very close to what's usually shepparton most of which is it but. usually
3:05 pm
doesn't ask this. how they usually do that bombing. of the last twenty four hours no dunny makea from the syrian youth movement in the u.k. don't evening to you like start of the news begetting the last couple of hours i know you're up to speed with your. playing potential instant the plane what do you think. well this is very interesting to see if i don't really think the syrian government would attack a russian plane to have excellent relations so that the most which could have happened was rebel fire from missiles which could have been given by regional countries. i guess that's the crucial thing. it's very hard to define whether it's intentional by accident but it probably would be intentional forces would fire a missile at an airplane a civilian aircraft without it being done intentionally this history of rebels using. missiles to fire against civilian aircraft especially in the south of syria
3:06 pm
so we can essentially you know the reprehensible act which probably would have been committed by rebel forces and should gain condemnation from all the states after it is clear who actually committed this part but it does show the. these are not the liberal forces which the west wanted to arm in the first place and the fact that they would even consider to attack russian airplanes shows the level of the level of our barbarism and the fact that they do not really have any any conventional. forces as the syrian army do and the fact that it was a russian passenger plane on the way back from a holiday resort the fact that it was russia not any other country could be read anything into that of course here russia is a very ardent ally of the syrian government that acts in a strategic russia is clearly a target of russian officials russian aircraft they are a target by the so-called free syrian army the rebel forces which would see any russian equipment or any russian airplanes as a potential target in this geostrategic war so it is very conceivable that the rebel forces would attack
3:07 pm
a russian aircraft they would have to be do it before the russian is not a very big ally of the rebel forces as as this very obvious rebel forces biggest allies or western country are regional countries because russia supports a political solution in this era cross' they would be a target for rebel groups or for any russian civilians or any russian. specialists inside of syria including airplanes and it's all really early days or so we keep stressing this but then if any of this was to be proved to be proved that an airliner was in fact being targeted which we don't know what the ramifications potentially be. well the ramifications would be monumental first of all the western countries would have to reconsider any form of support for these rebel rebel groups or movements especially due to the presence of islamist groups the alliance between al nusra front and al-qaeda the fact that these groups would attack a civilian aircraft really shows these are the groups that the west wants so there is an act very big a quandary which the west face that kind of paralyzed in fear with these rebel groups if this was an attack on an american plane or british playing of course the
3:08 pm
media would be up in a frenzy so we have to kind of play a game of role reversal here if this was an aircraft carrier belonging to a western country and was attacked by the rebel forces we would we would see wide scale kind of condemnation by western countries for these so-called rebels majority of them are islam and so the fact that it is a russian plane and there is a wall geostrategic inadvertent war between the west and russia over syria would make this very reprehensible from the from the point of view of western countries they can no longer support groups which are part civilian aircraft and this is not just on a humanitarian level but a political level also done it before you go it's got thirty seconds want to ask you about that bomb in damascus targeting the prime minister this bomb went off near a school near a kindergarten what does it say about maybe the tactics of the rebels here. of course this is a sign of great desperately they would not use car bombs and suicide bombers and attack resort to any areas killing one bodyguard possibly today if there were more
3:09 pm
desperate in a military sense there is a changing balance of powers on the ground the rebels are losing ground also the so-called free syrian army has disintegrated to an extent the majority of all md groups inside of syria now the islamist who have the most backing the most financed the most power and they are committing the reprehensible terrorist activities which are occurring as the massacres on a day to day basis to attack a prime minister who is not necessarily involved in the security apparatus all the so-called military crackdown he's a civilian here who his main aim is to give provide services to the syrian people at a time of economic hardship so the fact that he would be a target. a rebel group shows that these groups especially attacking all sorts of government officials attacking anyone who does not agree with their so-called uprising and attacking anyone who doesn't agree with their criminality down in the country the manifestation of the lever of barbarism betrayed by these armed groups we appreciate your thoughts along half a minute but thank you thank you for being on the program tonight much appreciate danny makki there for money very much in youth movement u.k. and just like you know as well western intentions in syria come up in today's cross talk with people of well it's on air bit later this hour in fact they ask what's
3:10 pm
behind president obama's red line in the syrian conflict and could nato countries break the civil war deadlock just a couple of questions will be under the microscope. so surely now they're putting more questions than answers as the boston bombing investigation continues with one suspect dead you're the one in custody an online of media frenzy is in overdrive and speculations rife among the theories is that the older brother tommy. was killed by police after being captured it's an allegation shared by the suspect's mother to start doing consistencies and police reports and footage from the moment another suspicion triggered online disputes is that the whole thing was staged to allegedly backed up by pictures of the blast
3:11 pm
revelations all submerging as well that size of his body in a culture. as speculation continues regarding where exactly the elder brother to meddle on saturday night became so interested in radical islam in russia's north caucasus during his six month visit or in the united states where he lived for over a decade if possible a third country being involved is now circulating in the media and that third country is george out which time or allegedly managed to visit during his trip to russia back in two thousand and twelve now this theory is fueled by the latest revelations coming from georgian prime minister really he believes that the previous government led by president mikhail saakashvili before he dissolved some of his powers was involved in recruiting and training a group of chechens and that these camps were later set up to send trained
3:12 pm
militants to russia's volatile north caucasus to further destabilize the situation there now and stay venue believes that there are strong suspicions that the authority has worked closely with terror. this is a. book of sorts and so it is possible that terrorists had been trained in georgia but the investigation is under way let's wait for its results we will get a lot of new information maybe even some shocking findings there are suspicions that their thirty's worked with terrorists and militants if this information is confirmed this will be shocking some say that the investigation will hurt the country's image but the country's emerge will only be hurt if somebody else conducts the investigation so far it remains unclear whether this ricin news has sufficient grounds on the one hand it could just be the latest twist in the ongoing political rivalry between two political factions in the country president
3:13 pm
saakashvili and the new government led by prime minister when you should really on the other hand it is really well known that georgia wasn't ready on friendly terms with russia after sacrifice really came to power so there could be some real grounds for this speculation so now investigators must establish whether there is a new frontier opened up in the terror trail and whether this takes the boston bombing choir you know new direction. and u.s. investigators are also convinced such an attack could not have been carried out without special training a list of suspects keeps growing as the investigation continues if you want to keep track of it as well it's on our web site r.t. dot com.

millions of dollars packed it displaces in plastic shopping bags that's what it's claimed the afghan president's been receiving for a decade from the u.s. it's known as ghost or secret money used to buy influence for the cia i mean cars a himself he has confirmed that his office has been receiving money from the u.s. intelligence but calls it a small about in quotes let's get some thoughts now from a political analyst and former afghan m.p. died sultanzoy hello there thanks the u.s. has been pouring said the millions upon millions of dollars into afghanistan for years openly yet they've decided it's not enough they're doing it covertly as well you surprise and while they hope it again well actually it will not be surprising that usually the money that mr karzai also admitted that was the receiver there he was receiving of not only from the united states but he also
3:15 pm
said he was receiving it from iran and he alluded to this in a very sort of very aloof way and he did not elaborate on it then but now we understand that this money has been going there but the question should be that what does this money buy unfortunately is going to argue has any of it go ahead. of course he doesn't have when you are when you are not accountable or whatever happens to that money is your money so you can do things with it you can save it and you can buy dangerous things with it and this is what has been happening in what has been bought has been. at least he has not bought good things for the united states who was paying for this he had the he has he has used it in the in the wrong way i'm sure other ways it's what should have produced more more much better results and more a better done for the united states and that has not been the case for the monies
3:16 pm
is is lost for a lost cause i think yeah i mean doesn't seem to border the any particular favor between him and the u.s. and he's been criticized criticized him a lot as the for night raids and civilian deaths so the p.r. aspect of it as far as america's concerned hasn't worked well i think not only that is not has not worked but also the money that has fallen it's with this money that has found its way into the pockets of warlords and drug lords and of a notorious people in this country has not and will not be. leaving a good impression in the eyes and hearts of the afghan people and that is what the united states should measure the value of the money with why aren't they they know that this is not new news that you're saying to be there i knew it you knew it surely they know it to. well naturally i'm sure the united states with all its apparatus and this country it knows what is going on i hope they know
3:17 pm
what is going on with the people of this country the people are distancing themselves from this government this leadership and their benefactors and their sponsors so not only the united states but the entire europeans and other countries who have been close to mr karzai and who are being considered friends and sponsors of mr karzai they're all. far away from the people of afghanistan and afghans are alienated by a of from them what is it said mr karzai that he's taken this money he believes it dizzied to be all above board and correct yes do you think in your estimation. in a country that all europeans are emphasizing the rule of law transparency and a war against corruption this is not a good example so whether whether he admits it or not whether he talks about it or not anything is not accountable you cannot should think for it you cannot have any paper trace for it is not something that we should be promoting and pushing for in

about international airport in the very heart of moscow. the u.k. could be looking to restore its permanent military presence in the gulf are gaining a seaman's east of cities that was given up several decades ago that's the conclusion to date from a report by defense think tank with close ties to the armed forces is a london correspondent. received is the world renowned defense credited with really influence in government defense policy so these
3:20 pm
recommendations to be taken lightly the paper today talks about the fact that it might be britain might be considering stepping up its military presence in the gulf states especially next year after they pull out from afghanistan now that would be quite a departure from forty years ago when they actually shut down a string of defense bases in the gulf states and they say that might be wise considering that the rest taking place in the arab states at the moment they might want to preempt trouble if they're based in the gulf states at the moment on the other hand there is of course the problem of some of the human rights records of some of the countries that they might be dealing with that might not be too good for britain's image and of course talking about returning to the middle east in terms of military presence might force some observers to talk about every time to.
3:21 pm
return to imperial powers and imperial aspirations so to talk about britain's presence in the gulf states. i'm joined in the studio by chris bambery he's a political analyst chris the recent paper says that increased military presence in the god of would be justified considering the instability that we're witnessing at the moment in the region what do you think was the british military presence in the gulf can only instability rather be stabilized what is the instability in the gulf states the moment internally to the gulf states what we're talking about is a democracy movements we've seen. elsewhere is a pretty good interview against a democracy movement to money human rights and some to other nation nor i think the real and she wouldn't talk which ability to run and what we're seeing at the moment so i think it's because of so from sanctions against iran. and caused by in america uses is also an american word in order to build a gaijin in the persian gulf which is deliberately aimed as part of attempt to
3:22 pm
build put pressure on the iranian regime what about the question of money we know that britain is very strapped for cash the arab states are swimming in it if you've got a cash cow why not now well david cameron and they're all farmers have been milking the big breaking ball around ribbon potential asking for money and selling anything they can return for that's actually a very close ties between the united arab emirates and some forty million tonnes of building went once was a trade between the two qatar is the biggest supplier of britain of that shore gas and i think they'd be keen and developing not to ease a dependence on russia because of tension between britain and russia as well but i think we have got to put it in the context of this is a return to us of an imperial policy which has been spearheaded by the united states with britain trillion behind and therefore decision to increase any military presence in the gulf as it was instability chris bambery thanks very much for your comments in december the u.k. chief of defense staff said that after afghanistan will become the u.k.'s main
3:23 pm
military effort and it looks like mr paul is proving the theory correct especially if according to the view see they could be a lot of money to be made in the gulf states for the british government. or the boys with me but over here on the washington's diligently weaving some more web regulation to we're talking about that on our website if the government gets its way internet providers could be threatened with severe and compounding fines if they refuse calls to wiretap their calls want to check it out said r t dot com also two reporting that the saatchi spirit is being taken into space you can learn russian cosmonauts are planning to stage a war with the olympic torch on the international space station.

the russian couple are battling the us courts right now for the return of their five month old son the baby was seized last week by child protective services after his parents denied him heart surgery while waiting for a doctor's second opinion alex and nick lie have told r.t. shawn thomas about their current plight we been shocked when they walked in the door and just they all of them in saying it's just let us see your son if he's ok and i said i'm holding him in my arms he is so ok you can take a look and they're saying give me your child and that's when they took away no paper not so ever they've been providing and they just walked off the door was any reason given behind the nine eleven call from the hospital after you took your own child to another hospital or second to opinion i mean have they given you any reason whatsoever. they say that his and them
3:25 pm
urgency that he's almost dying needs medical treatment and that he needs that needs to get back to the hospital immediately. or do you believe this. no he was fine he was laughing he was eating he was a normal child a normal baby to go home and he was released from the from the other hospital that we took him to the doctor released to be do a statement so the parents are basically good to go home with their baby in the baby's safe in their arms. very interesting now taking a step back facebook and social networks they are a way for you to get support and you said facebook shut down a page that you set up to get support for your case did they give you any reason why they closed down this page no i think it has everything to do with the government we got a lot of support we got a lot of prayers
3:26 pm
a lot of people who were there you know just praying for us and all all site in the first facebook page a blog called facebook basically my sister in law called facebook no answer every question as she was asking them there was no answer coming back we open a second facebook page for support same thing happened again your child hasn't been a lot of home in four days what's going through your mind it kills me i don't have my baby of me at nighttime i just visiting him like been visiting him three times say for an hour and you're leaving at seven o'clock of again hard going home your baby's not know if you know you're just feeling empty there's missing something in your and we're just waiting for tomorrow stay just to you know like coming in this court hearing good news taking your baby going home or going to a different hospital and you can live or they will russia's child rights some bushman says he's close the cases across it he's going to provide support to the purred so if he talked to a lawyer in the u.s.
3:27 pm
who believes the government those going to head start of the family. they were provided with medical evidence that said the baby was fine to be taken home and despite the state decided to. manufacture an excuse to take this baby away i think what it comes down to is the parents didn't. appreciate the opinions of the doctor in the hospital and in my opinion what they did was that the initial physician and he decided to make a call to child protective services and say that there is a child who has an imminent danger of death what he didn't know at the time was that they've gone to a second hospital and it's different doctor said it's not an issue history says that c.p.s. will win this case at the initial spot. judge judges will tend to err on the side of caution i am told that when all of the evidence is put forth and the facts are
