guys i'm having martin in the break in the set so i've got a lot of news to share with you all today first a very tragic update on the bangladesh garment factory collapse the last time i covered this the death toll hovered around three hundred people but something and countless more bodies have been pulled out of the rubble and just today the death toll climbed above six hundred fifty and it's now thought to be the worst garment factory accident ever the rescue workers have managed to save two thousand four hundred of the garment boys trapped and the debris authorities still don't know how many additional bodies remain engineer of the building has been arrested along with eight others for criminal negligence in the investigation but that's not good enough we do use this event as the impetus for better labor standards worldwide to prevent this from ever happening again and now i'd like to turn to google the internet company has recently made a historic statement changing its palestine a home page label from palestinian territories

summit what is what's prompting the change in attitude toward these countries really economics and really and truly it's not really a change in attitude is just a different approach in attitude because the united states and europe have always really relied on the global south for their economic base so it just is how we talk about immigrants and how immigrants and their cheap labor really contributes to the american economy is the same way when we broaden that out to an international perspective and right now obama he said a little bit of a pig so i think a lot of people remember in his first campaign where he talked about changing nafta in order to put jobs back in the rust belt here in the united states now and my guess is a lot of that is a lot of corporate interests that are funding his campaign they're really pushing him on this free trade policy and they're pushing him and now spinning it to say that americans can get jobs as a result of that particularly we're looking at natural gas so the united states is experiencing a natural gas boom and an oil boom and they're looking at these countries which are

buying more american products my aunt was actually in town this weekend from panama and she's complaining about the prices of everything going up so that tells you about the u.s. influence that is growing in the region. and you know bolivia kick you know the usa i. wail of course staunchly against us imperialism and court is saying if you want to build a base in my country let me build one in miami i mean are other south american countries and central american countries taking as a stern approach against this kind of new wave i mean they know they see they know that it's mostly corporate what's the message that they're trying to send is happening in the regions it's not happening as much in central america central america has really traditionally been more conservative than south america for i think in. proximity for instance in the fact that the drug trade is really the closest in central america the united states really has a lot of a stronghold so you'll see a more right wing influence and that really came to

a head in two thousand and nine when we saw a coup in honduras it was the first coup in latin america in twenty five years so this was extremely important to show that that backlash of anyone in central america who tried to ally themselves with chavez and the more socialist movements in south america that they wouldn't take it we even saw a coup in south america in pair of why well that's also disputed i should say it's officially an impeachment but many people are saying that it was a coup because the president he was again he was adopted more of kind of this socialist rhetoric and there's always going to be that push and pull you know whether the united states is there militarily were always there ideologically right well put in especially seeing you know how on earth is really a secluded now murder capital of the world really tragic. and you talk about the move away from traditional polish politicians in these regions with some of the first indigenous presidents in the region venezuela. as being the region's first

indigenous president there what effect is that symbolism alone having on the politics of the countries in the region well it definitely empowers people from the poorer classes that empowers people of color who are indigenous and of african descent. when we look at the interesting thing about him pushing out usa ideas that this is not the first time that he kicked out a u.s. funded organization in two thousand and eight he actually ousted the d.a. so the drug enforcement agency and he is a former cop which means that he was a coca grower so he used to grow the plant that is used to make cocaine so those are some of the real reasons that we're seeing a lot of tensions and you even see mexican president calderon who said that he wants the united states to explore all options in order to curb the drug trade so right now unfortunately the united states is focused on the supply as opposed to the demand we are one of the most greedy in terms of consuming drugs in the world and you know simple economics tells you that if you cut down the demand the supply

will shrink but we've not done that our whole policy is to go after in latin america in particular to go after that supply to spray fields with poisonous chemicals that are even affecting children such that people are having birth defects you know asthma except that's been our policy so that's why you're seeing presidents like it will morales who are more on that left side really pushing back against the united states because they've experienced first hand what kind of conditionality is come with a lot of the drug war i mean well that would take away the millions hundreds of millions of dollars from these banks that are laundering drug money legally through the fight of course we're not going to see that and do you know not all of the countries are prospering in south america obviously it's a huge region but some are i mean what are countries one of these countries done to be regarded now as the new global economic power players now kind of you know a lot of them the brics nation etc but now with the brics you know brazil being the first be in the brics you're really seeing

a large export economy and they're actually benefiting from attracting europeans in particular and north americans to their countries to come in and work so one of the reasons you saw the european union really cozying up to latin america is. christine this phenomenon where the remittances flows the money sent abroad are not coming from europe to the global south they're going in reverse they're coming from the global south up to the north so you're seeing in particular a lot of portuguese in the diaspora that are sending money back home and you're seeing that because of the huge economic crisis that's happening in europe all the austerity cuts people are going overseas and even taking jobs from people in the global south because they have more education and they may speak more languages different skill sets so they're going overseas to boost their own economies which is something that obama may be taking a little bit of a page from all thank you so much brown global threat of global for breaking it down more. if you like you see so far check this out on roulette hulu dot com in

fourth one nine hundred seventy this past weekend marked the forty third anniversary of this dark chapter in american history more national guard troops shot sixty seven bullets in just thirteen seconds killing for an armed college students at the time kent state became a substantial turning point in the antiwar build up against the vietnam war now for the last forty three years the government's narrative has remained they have been it was a tragic and unfortunate accident a recent forensic evidence suggests that something far more sinister really happened that day it can state it's been presented by an organization called the kent state truth tribunals whose petition to relaunch an investigation of the incident was just accepted by the u.n. human rights council here to talk about the case and the new investigation is laurel krauss the co-founder of the kent state trees tribe you know whose sister was among the protesters tragically killed that day laurel thanks so much for taking the time. it's my honor to be here so what is. the forensic evidence that

the united states at that time and president nixon announced it they were going to be having to cambodia they were announcing the cambodian invasion on april thirtieth one thousand nine hundred seventy the fact remains and it was actually it's documented that the united states was bombing cambodia and laos for a solid year before that this announcement was planned it's it's our feeling that when the announcement was was made he also planned domestic battles against the students which they considered new laughs from the huston report if it gets really deep it involves cointelpro which is part of the f.b.i. and i feel the department of defense because they're truly the only organization that benefited from the killing of anti-war protesters it's our feeling that it's it's actually an international human right for people to protest and when the state

government for some reason it was focused on stopping student protest they would stop they crossed the line and then immediately they covered it up they they actually cut the phone lines they had the campus shut down the entire summer they just write all the weapons associated with the zero ohio national guard that meant that they actually destroyed or shipped or or got rid of twelve thousand pieces of evidence you know actually the winds and associated weapons of the ohio national guard sending them to nato new evidence just popped up the other day with a document that actually. was filed by the department of justice your own investigation fingering terry norman the agent provocateur or the person that is the kent state sniper if this was actually filed by people that witnessed him turning over his gun where there's tons of photographic evidence about that and he

turned over his gun to the police and he said he had to shoot it and now they deny that he did it or that he's a person of interest by the way this weekend the kent state university opened up their new visitor center on this topic there's no mention of sniper there's no mention of new evidence except for one little piece and there's no evidence that this was about anti-war and that my sister allison. that she died for peace and she's been censored and and stifled ever since the story of kent state has never seen the light of day well as storable revisionism at its finest we see that the bush library time and time again and of course with this new penn state memorial or whatever is being built and we're still sane dissent being crushed with these less than lethal rounds you know as it's advanced over a generation since can state who has been facilitating the cover up i know they said obama had refused to see the evidence but since can stay i mean obviously

there's been an effort to reopen the investigation who has been covering this up. well it's a moving target and that's how it works and that's why they're successful you know they basically just a day they say one thing and then they say the opposite of that one thing every time it's been tried in a court case it had to be tried on civil rights my sister's civil rights come on now i mean did she get murdered by civil rights no. he was murdered by the state and they have everything to lose because they were sloppy they were arrogant and they have censored everything the reality is truth always emerges it's coming up now it has a force of its own and we're happy to see that truth is coming out and maybe justice will be done soon well it's all right i don't really care it's ironic that they said that the civil rights case of course certainly on her and she was just

practicing our civil rights the first amendment and she was murdered for it and i wanted to really quickly get to this new investigation that's been initiated what is going on with it it's an amazing advancement in the cause and also what would justice look like for you and your family for the death of your sister. well. there's been no redress accountability or apology for can state in fact this in the shins since day one every. one associated with kent state that the witness is and participants anyone that was harmed by it was chased down by j. edgar hoover's f.b.i. for at least ten years following they indicted twenty five people that can twenty five basically none of this shows up at this visitor center so it shows us that they continue to office kate they continue to try to sell this cover up that is you know lame and untrue and holds no truth. basically

this weekend was the big roll out for the visitor center oliver stone actually did an amazing presentation of the truth as he sees it and he pointed to terry norman as well as the efforts to contain this and i believe he said the legacy of kent state is blood. and so what's happening with the investigation that the u.n. has accepted to hear. oh yes that's our goal is in february we submitted it. we submitted questions to the united nations human rights committee and they accepted our submission it's now posted at the new and h r c website where along with organizations like amnesty international and the a.c.l.u. and many other human rights groups basically every five years every participating nation needed nations must go before the human rights committee we've submitted our questions they are there and we hope that the questions will be asked october

chemical nerve gas sarin and as an alternative to both narratives just today the independent international commission of inquiry on syria issued a press release saying it had not reached conclusive evidence of which party is responsible. here's the deal just don't believe everything you see and hear because there's a lot more going on behind the scenes take a look at the u.s. covert intelligence operations being done on the ground there you see the u.s. has been supplying syria's rebel forces some of which are filled with al qaeda with the legal arms so to fight the war on terror the u.s. government has chosen to align itself with the same terrorist organization it's fighting across the rest of the world. you know what they say one government's terrorist is another government's freedom fighter which is especially ironic considering the news that happened over the weekend the syrian capital damascus was rocked by two israeli air strikes in which the israeli government alleges were
