it's a back to the revolution in egypt after the army moved in and toppled the country's president after just a year mohamed morsi is under arrest along with other members of the muslim brotherhood. described as a coup has been hailed by. islamist protesters in cairo's tahrir square but. the deposed leader claimed up to fourteen lives. in the capital. while receiving reports that security officials say that the deposed president morsi and his entire presidential team are being held at a minute intelligence facility this does follow a statement that was when least from most he's office in which he said that he

considered this image to arrest warrants have been issued for some we hunted members of the muslim brotherhood the head of the backwards political party justin's and freedom has already been a wasted as has the deputy chief of the brotherhood all of this coming as al-jazeera was egypt chambord cost has been taken off if now those offices here in cairo earlier raided at least five members of staff were wasted all media outlets associated with the muslim brotherhood have gone black or have been closed down and by the military the on the is making its advances from off the streets of cairo the situation here is extremely fluid as you can well imagine we are also hearing from egypt should security officials that there are at least fifty tanks that have been deployed to the border with missiles of the situation one a town not only inside egypt but also on the borders all of this comes as the american president barack obama remarks to what is happening here in
1:03 am
a written statement he also did and with view of the implications of military intervention on a u.s. aid upon the saying that he is deeply concerned about what is happening here and at the same time a swift which turned to a democratically elected civilian government obama has always said though that he prefers a foreign policy of consultation and not intervention but he is oskin for a measured approach in terms of how to deal with the situation here america has ordered the evacuation of its embassy it has also issued a travel advisory and it is urged the army not to carry out any kind of property attacks at the same time amnesty international has pulled off the prices and the revenge attacks and as you hear behind me the mood remains one of jubilance all of this however against a backdrop of a deeply divided and dangerous egypt. our correspondent paula slayer and to risk where we spoke to former u.s. diplomat john graham he believes that egypt's future is up in the air and deep
1:04 am
divisions within society could just see this second revolution caused the nation to crumble but we did that security official say that. we're coming to you live from moscow this is our tea with me rory sue show you what do you think is next for egypt we always love it when you get involved with our stories here on the program let's see how we're doing now for the vote from our t dot com up for this hour we're asking you off to now two years the second time in two years that well the army the military has taken control of that all of the rear square in the egyptian capital let's see how the voting stacking up for this hour the vast majority fifty seven percent saying well the army will try to administer the country until there's a chance for fresh elections to be held though about a quarter well they're less optimistic saying that coming to an agreement is unlikely and the country will only descend into the turmoil some of you think that the army will continue to hold on to power that's fifteen percent of all voters
1:05 am
from dot com though two percent now are saying this hour that morsi in the muslim brotherhood is battered but not broken and could at some point make a comeback and you can share your views in the comments section if you disagree with any of these options just go to dot com. now when it comes to whether you form a comic agency chief and a nobel laureate mohamed el baradei he appears to be at the political forefront and now the rule of the muslim brotherhood is being brought to an end researcher and writer soraya seven poor alric believes that his candidacy is being actively promoted by the u.s. and that's not a good sign. americans invest a lot of money overseas house south american. president then over president mubarak was dying of cancer and there was even a new york times article in two thousand and seven talking about who would be his replacement and two thousand and eight and there are young egyptians come to
1:06 am
america go to the state department and he took the time and lisa rice and others to learn how to use modern technology to start an uprising in egypt so this uprising from the very start was aided by the united states and one of the favorite horses in the race has been and continues to be mohamed el baradei and he's the one who actually met with the military to remove morsi it but i think it's bad for any country when somebody is help from the outside from forces without to help bring that person into power then that person will automatically turn into a puppet their concern will not be what is good for the country they're concerned is their ambition and that is always dangerous whether they're moderate or fundamentalists it doesn't matter it should be an egyptian decision but i want to get a chance to speak to the former u.s.
1:07 am
diplomat john graham and believe that egypt's future is up in the air and deep divisions within society could just see the revolution caused the nation to crumble . question now is whether it works he's supporters even though the army seems to have cast their hand. will start a civil war that would be in many ways going up against the army so fewer hours a few more days should be clear but right now it's total chaos and there's more players as well and you see all the mubarak supporters you know regime they're sort of in the background but they're waiting opportunistically for for a moment. then to gain something of a say you've got. the christians the cops who are not anti muslim but nonetheless they're not muslim as either so you've got a lot of different players. on the on the on the secular side you have not one party or two perhaps a dozen or maybe fifteen different parties none of whom agree totally with each
1:08 am
other so you that's where the chaos comes from. if you can is there anything want to you can always just check it out live on our website the live updates on how the egyptian coup started and proceeded at all if you don't call no more images and analysis from the iconic sorious square all lined up for you there right now. for the meantime france has become the first of four european states to apologize for denying is space to a jet carrying the bolivian president but that's done little to temper the latin american fury with leaders equating the act to a kidnapping of the president's plane was forced to land and reportedly searched over rumors that whistleblower edward snowden was on board a british theatre go via from the spanish channel has the latest from bolivia. they're definitely not happy with the situation of president havel moralising vienna and what happened during the last day believe he is actually sure that the u.s. is behind all the splotch believe is saying that now european countries are being
1:09 am
like us colonies instead of latin america you know which was a continent with many colonies for centuries so now they're saying all these colonies moved to europe now of vice president an acting president garcia so you don't believe you can see there's the situation of violation of international law as well alos as well as the president's rights and now he also mentioned the have you an accommodation which very clearly states that it's not possible actually to do everything in doubt was dawney of these cases because all presidents in the world have even unity meaning that you know it wasn't possible to stop if you want to block at the axis of the presidential plane into airspace of all these for your can counter just some people actually to go to swim on streets many of them when there is straight to the french embassy here in the possibility of yeah and they
1:10 am
were yelling and they were burning french flags they that me running after you believe your government already said that you're planning on denouncing the situation to the u.n. mission is specifically to the office of the united nations high commissioner for human rights also a law a group of lawmakers here in believe yes they are proposing a bill urging the expulsion of employees representing the three countries that's friends of the portugal a lot of pain though the united states has admitted that it has contacted a range of nations potting on them the dangers of allowing edward snowden to pos through a goal and attorney and author he says the u.s. actions so clearly where its priorities lie. despite the fact that the united states basically is demeaning those european nations and violating their own rights and treating them as second class citizens at the same time they do
1:11 am
share these collective military and economic interests and so i think that a lot of the response mainly from some of these european countries heads of states condemning these actions of the united states and calling for further investigation was mainly merely to satisfy their their constituents and their people and it's not something that they're really going to follow up and we see that played out in the case of a more dialysis airplane i mean these same european countries that were just criticizing the united states for this espionage program they were willing to act on u.s. instructions to violate the rights of this latin american leader so i think we see clearly there the double standard and hypocrisy in what is being said virtually out of the governments of the european union and what actually they're doing in reality and in reality they are just going along with the us agenda. unprecedented in deception has drawn to shoot criticism from the global media especially on the social networks only of my colleague bill dog reaction. and off of caution.
1:12 am
the state department said they wouldn't comment on it but they did the closest thing they they did to do to comment saying is that saying that. there is no reaction so far or any kind of understanding of how the obama administration would react if snowden left the moscow airport is a little bit embarrassing though isn't it if the u.s. did ask for that plane to be diverted because they suspected snowden was on board and he clearly wasn't going to be questions asked why because many people don't think they asked for it that they demanded it let's not forget that just on monday there was this revelation that the u.s. was spying on their number one ally europe but now we're not hearing anything about that it's almost to the right and. more are being. shown that europeans perspective it's a bit ironic isn't it bring about all the anger the e.u. has over the u.s. over its allegations of spying if it was the case they were helping the u.s. out and closed their respects to that jet that they're helping in effect snowden to
1:13 am
because of the u.s. it doesn't make sense of it well i think. it makes perfect sense from one point to that makes perfect sense if you're willing to believe that. there's a group of people operating behind the scenes who are who are putting political pressure on people that's not in the public eye. and it's the kind of pressure. blowers tend to expose in fact and it's very much the kind of political tactics that snowden's exit exposes the n.s.a. what sort of political pressure we're talking about with the u.s. because of course there's all this talk about the trade free trade agreement sure sure well i think as far as what kind of direct pressure has been put on anybody. we're in the realm of speculation it's very hard to say however we can look closely at how the europeans have reacted and look at let's say some of the righteous indignation that's come out of the european side i think francois hollande has probably led the european indignation despite the clear claims that from the bolivian side that the french were complicit in at least complicit in refusing.
1:14 am
well it's going. to pass which. is in a sticky position because he's trying to play politics as the moment his cabinet has been weakened by some revelations and he's and he's on the back foot as far as this e.u. u.s. trade deal is concerned we might come back to that one as well where i was and i think indignation is putting it very strongly i mean yes i want spoke out about it so that was just monday it's wednesday and now everyone's kind of really quiet there's lots of confusion like you said bill no one's really denying or claiming anything happened today what we do know is that a president of the sovereign country was held in an airport for more than fourteen hours and his plane was searched that's a violation of international law why is no one talking about this a key takeaway for me is that while. this guy's meeting in moscow when there was a lot of speculation around whether whether snowden was going to be snuck onto an
1:15 am
airplane or not the fact is that morale is left moscow without snowden nevertheless somebody believed snowden was on that plane and why and who believed it why did they believe us and does that suggest that nobody has a visual fix on edward snowden in moscow right now or at least the people who are trying to catch him and could he be on a plane to parents instead. good point well we shall see because the mystery continues brings us all back to the beginning where snowden has had great well no doubt we'll be talking about this for a few more days yet for you very much indeed. and he said that he thank you very much for that discussion here. thank you for joining us here on out see you this morning it's now quarter past nine here now the u.s. president barack obama has long claimed attacked drones school in their accuracy an expert on the plane so said they killed ten times more civilians than that of fighter jets and more on those figures just a bit later for you in the program. so
1:16 am
basically when the saudis or the iraqis will do that. when they provide for their own that the same d.n.a. that cousins if you share a language to share with a faith who share a culture and tradition now what you're saying is that because you are an arab because you are a muslim you for some reason have the same right to protecting the syrian people but to me it sounds just as you know condescending as the bushes claim. you know supposedly kyra responsibility it.
1:17 am
could have you with us here and it's here this morning on research show you in moscow american drone strikes could be responsible for ten times more civilian deaths than conventional weapons according to one u.s. expert but president barack obama who's taken the deadly technology. still maintains the more accurate than fighter jets. as well as the story from washington . well it's no secret that drones are becoming the military's aircraft of choice we've been told they're more efficient and precise than fighter jets but a recent study says otherwise the study was conducted by larry lewis
1:18 am
a research scientist for the center of naval analysis lewis took a close look at the number of air strikes in afghanistan during mid two thousand and ten and two thousand and eleven he got the figures using classified military information and what he found was that drone strikes were ten times more deadly to civilians than traditional manned aircraft now these findings seem to be at odds with what we've heard from government leaders back in may president obama touted the benefits of drone warfare as i've already said even small special operations. enormous risks conventional or poem missiles are for less precise than brooch. and there are likely to cause more civilian casualties and more local leverage. other high level government leaders have claimed the benefits of drones long before president obama addressed the issue of civilian casualties in drone warfare here's john brennan back in april of two thousand and twelve at the
1:19 am
time he was an assistant to the president for national security and counterterrorism we conduct targeted strikes because they are necessary to mitigate actual ongoing threat to stop plots prevent future attacks and to save american lives but quantifiable data are proving this has been scarce due to the secrecy of the drone program exact figures of drone strikes were not disclosed in the latest study because that information is classified but it calls into question just how much more precise drones really are compared to man their planes the researchers that conducted this study have an idea they told the guardian quote these findings show us that it's not about the technology it's about how the technology is used drone darn magically better at avoiding civilians than fighter jets when pilots flying jets were given clear directives in training on civilian protection they
1:20 am
were able to lower civilian casualty rates also important to note the latest study only takes into account civilian deaths in afghanistan and places like yemen and pakistan it's harder to obtain figures on the number of deaths because the only way to get data is from the drones themselves so as the drone debate comes into that the national spotlight this study points out that the benefits of drone technology and training of drone pilots should be included in that debate in washington lives of all our. or no the alternative cyber currency bitcoin is inspiring some serious financial players to open it up to the world of big investment or the wing call voss twins known for suing facebook founder mark zuckerberg for allegedly stealing the social network idea planning to float a coin trust let's get more details now katie pilbeam bitcoins trusts real currencies it's all a bit confusing to me with complex math is definitely

a see if i can clarify just now. so big coin repairs a parallel trying to cash system and an alternative to traditional choruses has had its fair share of controversies this is introduction four years ago and it's now being backed by the infamous facebook suing twins tyler and cameron winklevoss if the proposal for a big coin toss fund is given the go ahead by the securities and exchange commission the twins will contribute their own ten million dollars worth of big coins into the trust in exchange for shares in the virtual currency because it was created in two thousand and nine by an anonymous web developer and can be exchanged for other currencies and used to pay for goods and services but it doesn't exist in physical form now the big coin is seen by its users as an alternative to traditional currencies especially during the euro zone sovereign debt crisis as more people began distrusting the central banks but leverage

a coin has been linked to money laundering and accusations of drug smuggling which is made the value of the big point extremely volatile since the start of the year rising from thirteen dollars in january to a peak of two hundred sixty six dollars in april and right now it's at around ninety dollars now their release is also tightly controlled may be king essential banking systems control over the minting of money which means there can only ever be twenty one million created on right now there's around eleven million is circulation this factor has led to some. to speculate that their value may rise. the facebook feud between the winco vos twins and mars like a protected in the twenty to movie the social network and eventually resulted in a sixty five million dollars settlement so i wonder if they'll be updating their faces with their corny venture i think not. multi million us are like cash injection except to make pacing money into big point even easier opening up to more

a sign of where the society is going the u.s. government though isn't too happy with the coins popularity it recently shut down our virtual exchange system for the currency claiming it was a money laundering platform i think we've had one hundred years now of what the u.s. government can do when it gets to manipulate a currency and a lot of people are kind of tired of that and they want to expose experiment in a space where you can't manipulate a currency just what would that even mean for money and i think that's why a lot of people are really interested in the space growing enthusiasm for an invisible currency presented to rival the printed greenback marina porton i.r.t. new york or just a moment our program well it's a part. as a personal lives in russia i get asked very often why automatic console fat well

big problems really have simple solutions you can run around and exercise as much as you like but if you're being pumped full of these chemicals that are illegal in much of the world well your chances of fitting into that bathing suit are ironically slim but that's just my opinion. hello and welcome to all the parties and take it off to the war in iraq it is difficult to find a single analyst in the middle east who would. argue that it was a worthwhile undertaking most commentators are much more blunt calling it a war of oppression or even a genocide of the iraqi people is the same community that condemned the use of force for political goals in the case of bush and blair appears quite accepting of

violence of the method of regime change in syria and to school in boston the west for ruining your right ultimately advocating a similar approach in syria to discuss that i'm now joined by to critique president of the cordoba foundation mr l. to create i really appreciate your being here now my first question may sound provocative but i find much of the pro-democracy and anti assad rhetoric really similar to what we heard from george w. bush about a decade ago people like yourself who at least at some point or in support of armed rebellion argue that since assad is a dictator or syria would be a better place without human therefore all the measures to get rid of him are somehow justified even if it is a war and to me that is the very aston's of the bush's case to launch a war in iraq there are some stark differences.
