a does seem like it's over is the best information we have at this point it's very sketchy information coming back here to washington. sketchy indeed well we now know that thirty nine year old t.s.a. officer geraldo was killed in friday's tragedy and two other agents were wounded the shooter has also been identified as. twenty three year old paul c n c right now he's alive and under heavy sedation at a los angeles hospital however we've also learned in the aftermath of the shooting that the t.s.a. union is calling for more armed guards at every airport checkpoint. yes more guards and more guns look this country has already spent millions of taxpayer dollars to put the t.s.a. in place giving them the authority to invade every element of our privacy throwing more money and more weapons into an already bloated on accountable government department is never the answer.

i have briefly touched upon the shady tactics used by the governments to foment public support for war one such program by the us was put in place during the cold war called operation gladio the aim of which was to have paramilitary organizations stay behind in the eastern bloc to continue the stabilization of regional powers and although the program was finally acknowledged in two thousand and six and is said to be long over some allege that it never really ended instead this clandestine operation simply morphed to fit the needs of the war on terror or to help me break down this very important and convoluted subject as james corbett independent journalist and host of the corporate pork thanks for coming on james. thank you for having me so what did all parisian gladio consist of and how far reaching was the program. well you were recently on the program talking about the

top five conspiracies that turned out to be true and i think operation gladio has to rank up there among them gladio is the code name for a clandestine operation that as you indicate was set up by nato in conjunction with the cia in the wake of world war two as the cold war started to develop and the official cover of this program was that it was designed as a stay behind program to fund to train equip supply and otherwise facilitate groups to be ready in the case of a soviet invasion of europe and if that were to happen basically these groups would be able to resist the soviet occupation forces while nato prepared some sort of military response that was at least the official cover for what was happening but ultimately what what resulted from this was over the course of the five decades of the cold war these these funds and the arms and equipment were going to paramilitary groups and ultra nationalist groups that were basically against

hardline anti communists and this resulted in a number of different operations events and outrages that ultimately were blamed on communists as a way of trying to basically. cripple the political left in europe during that period and perhaps the best known of those outrages in atrocities was the one thousand nine hundred bologna a bombing which killed eighty five people and wounded two hundred more that was again directly linked to this operation gladio it was eventually exposed in the ninety's early one nine hundred ninety s. in the italian parliament and eventually that resulted in an outcry that that was supposedly going to kick off the european parliamentary investigation that never actually occurred but we've been led to believe in a lot of the english language media and in the western world that this was specifically focused on europe and it specifically started and ended with the cold war but in fact as more information continues to come. out about it we start to see

that in fact the field of operations of operation gladio really is global and it continues to this current day let's talk about that transition i mean very shocking i didn't even really understand the extent of operation gladio until i was watching your series i recommend everyone to check that out really thorough seriousness and basically outline everything that operation was as you said i mean it's a decades long operation that consisted of false flag terror attacks death the funding of all trying to nationalize groups to foment terrorism let's talk about the transition into gladio being said that there is evidence showing that this is actually still happening today and it's actually morphed into something else so what is that and what evidence is there to back that up. well as as you say i had a video series that i conducted earlier this year with f.b.i. whistleblower sibel edmonds and as people may or may not know she's been referred to as the most gagged woman in the united states by the a.c.l.u. and other organizations for having the state secrets privilege applied to her case to classify all sorts of information about what she was working on at her time in

the f.b.i. in the translation department of the washington field office and basically the information that she had indicated that there was a change that occurred in this operation gladio that occurred in the mid one nine hundred ninety s. and she was specifically focused on the turkish field of operations and this is this is again documented on the record a little known and little talked about in the western media but turkey was in fact one of the first places where operation gladio eventuated and was in fact one of the central places as end geostrategic window to bridge the so-called bridge between europe and the middle east it's always had a geo strategic location and as such was one of the jewels in the crown of the operation gladio program but in the mid one nine hundred ninety s. operation gladio started to shift from that funding of paramilitaries and ultra nationalist groups in turkey specifically towards the an operation more like what we saw in afghanistan. in one thousand nine hundred eighty s. where the u.s.

specifically was funding and helping in training and arming the mujahedeen in their fight against the soviets in afghanistan and this was this became the model for what's what's known as gladio be gladio be is the term that admins indicates is the actual f.b.i. file that they have on this and the information on this in the f.b.i. but there is a different name for the whatever office in the pentagon actually works with nato on this operation that's still classified we don't know that but we do know that it's referred to as gladio b. by the f.b.i. and basically this is the cooperation of nato and u.s. including high ranking u.s. state department officials and others with islamic terrorists basically in the perpetuation of the strategy of tension which can be used as a type of weapon against specifically in central asia and the balkans and central asia in the caucasus region which is an exceptionally important part of the global

chessboard as being new brzezinski talks about and in fact in his one thousand nine hundred seven book the grand chessboard he identified central asia as the absolute key for anyone who wants to have world dominance in this day and age needs to control central asia and that's where we find a lot of these operations now are being based with u.s. and nato officials cooperating with islamic terrorists in order to foment a type of destabilization that is aimed ultimately against rivals russia and china right very fascinating and i remember in the video series you're talking about right before nine eleven i think one thousand nine hundred seventy two thousand and one i mean we're talking about al-zawahiri alleged top al-qaeda officials being flown out fostered by nato propagated by nato and also the cia and covert forces in the area you said that this is actually going on still to this day what are they doing and explain really how this manifested into her pet. and what we're seeing

play off across that region of well right now well you're exactly right about that and again this comes directly from subelements who was was working directly with the information from the f.b.i. that that i mean al-zawahiri was meeting with top level u.s. officials in baquba there by asian in one thousand nine hundred seven to two thousand and one in that range and this is important because for people who don't know. i mean al-zawahiri was of course osama bin laden's right hand man and is now the nominal head of al qaeda itself so the fact that he had such high level contacts for so many years with the in the heart of the u.s. state department and with high ranking officials is an exceptionally big story obvious for obvious reasons and and the fact that this is still ongoing i think is is certainly viewable in the context of what's happening in that central asia caucasus region with with countries of such importance geo strategically like as are by asia and in kurdistan into gee could stand which are in that caspian sea

basin and that corridor where a lot of the pipelines for those oil resources are being hardwired right now and i want to have cameras there all really very quickly james we have about a minute left but of course about talks about drug running in this operation as well from that the heroin from afghanistan but really quickly i mean why haven't more of these allegations been covered in even independent media james. unfortunately there is the total wall of silence on this and part of the reason i think in the independent media hasn't picked up on it is because there is so much to talk about and there are so many connections that a lot of people just simply haven't even heard about before so it is an area of the globe that a lot of people aren't familiar with and it takes a lot of coaching to get people familiar with some of the players and names and dates so just that's one of the reasons why it hasn't been featured in the independent media and obviously the mainstream media unfortunately as we know is controlled on these types of subjects and won't go near this type of. buster

valid and removed her from the case so what does this mean for the future of stop and frisk going to and why police are racist surveillance techniques and i answer that question i was joined earlier by wreckers university professor deepa kumar who writes extensively about race issues i started by asking her whether she thinks larger forces were played behind a recent ruling. i think this was basically the establishment trying to push back against a judge did the right thing i mean she took the facts into consideration which it is and you know these facts are well known that supposed a full black and latino young man are just disproportionately targeted by stop and frisk and to look that over ninety percent of people who are targeted are in fact innocent they don't even have small quantities of marijuana on them and so what she did is she said look this is a violation of law. amendments rights which use the ability for americans to not be

searched unless there is reasonable grounds and so she came out with what i thought was the right thing to do it of course the establishment doesn't like that and wants to push back against this in the inside reassigned the case to another judge and of course new york's mayor all candidate bill de blasio is expected to win today as promised to dismantle stop and frisk however given the recent only new thing that he'll even have the power to do so. it's hard to say it really i mean you know there are ways in which if politicians want to they can take the lead in actually stopping laws like this but i'm really not holding my breath on this because you know bill de blasio used to be an aide to bill clinton back when he was president and as we know clinton actually introduced the army was crime barry expanded the uses for which the death penalty can be heard when the first things he did is flew back to i can sort of recite over the execution of the mentally retarded black man so i'm not so sure even though the blasio has actually run

a really good camp being a ground stop and frisk which is a wonderful shift from the previous democratic mayoral candidates will you know frankly alienated like in the teano vote in new york he has actually run a refreshing campaign around speaking out a round stop and frisk but i'm not holding my breath that he's actually going to dismantle the program good point it could be just and their rhetoric just to get votes there a lot take a look at the. opponent the campaign ad for new york republican mayoral candidate show a lot of. feel the blogs yours recklessly dangerous agenda on crime take us back to. build the plants and take. our it so as not specifically referencing stop and frisk but it's pretty clear that the ad the looting the practice how does this type of

fear mongering play into the larger problem here. right i mean let's be clear activists people from the a.c.l.u. and all sorts of people you know last year in june over ten thousand new yorkers actually held a silent march against op interest and they have put centrally in this issue the idea of racism and how the n.y.p.d. systematically uses races and just very quickly know when this. during the trial two n.y.p.d. police officers who were whistleblowers brought recordings even where they sure that their supervisors for instance this one officer in the bronx actually was told that he's not targeting enough of the right people at the right time and the right place that's right this is recorded and when asked who that is he says you know all black kids ages fourteen to twenty twenty one so we know that reese ism is based central to the way in which stop and frisk is carried out and part of what joe has

done is to push back against bill de blasio sort of opposition to stop and frisk by this kind of fear mongering this is not the first time we've seen this kind of ad this this is a long strategy that used to be referred to as the southern strategy that the republicans developed in the post civil rights era when you could no longer be you know sort of believed racist against african-americans and so being tough on crime became a real in which to appeal to white voters in the south to say look you know your rights will be guaranteed and these black people particularly black men will be locked up and put away and that's what you see in this ad really you know there isn't a black figure as such but there's a sort of apocalyptic sense of this is what will happen we'll go back to the battle days where african-americans were actually political agents fighting for their rights and so forth right and you know of course it's not just institutionalized racism it's also the spine we know that the n.y.p.d.

actually reached over their jurisdiction and spying on muslim communities in new jersey this summer the a.c.l.u. sued the n.y.p.d. over its spying program but the city says the program doesn't even exist i mean if the n.y.p.d. won't even it to this program existing how can we expect real reform to come out of this lawsuit. absolutely you know the reason why we know they've exists out there is because the associated press actually did some really good investigative reporting and broke the story back in two. thousand and eleven two thousand and twelve about what they call what the n.y.p.d. quality human matching program where they systematically targeted not just in mosques community centers bookstores sharp's any place that you know muslim americans might be including campuses my campus address those university yale university and so on student groups of these campuses to collect information from them so we know for a fact that this has been happening and right now there is that lawsuit as you

mentioned that was brought out by the e.c.l. uli and why c.l.u. and another group and it's all fascinating to see the defense that the n.y.p.d. is putting up against this kind of systematic racial profiling if you read their briefs what they're seeing is that a violent act committed by. anywhere in the world and keep in mind there are one point five billion muslims around the world is grounds enough for them to racially profile or religiously profile muslims in new york city so let me repeat that. it's because it almost on the show there does a very pitting go ahead. this is their legal defense that an act of violence this could be a cruel jest in pakistan or in egypt or in syria a demonstration there or stay where there's some violence that happening gives the n.y.p.d. grounds to surveil muslim americans and to collect their political views because

you know the logic of this is that somehow muslims are like the borat they have a hive mind talladega and what somebody does you know halfway around the world gets transmitted and this is nothing if not the very definition of racism of course every generation has the stereotypical enemy figure. how do you think we could break the cycle of an told. and that's repeated in every. well we have to have first and foremost historical memory that is we have to understand that if a country no matter what country wants to go out to war it has to target not only the people out there who are seen as threats to us but the supporters of representatives of those people in this country so during the second world war for instance japanese americans particularly are the incident in pearl harbor japanese

the japanese not only become an international enemy in the context of the second world war but japanese americans get targeted right here in the united states over one hundred thousand are put into concentration camps and by the way i'm up vast majority of them were american citizens now of course you know an apology was issued under the reagan administration saying that this was wrong this was racial profiling and so on but it's interesting that it's only in the lead eighty's after japan has you know pretty much been subsumed under the u.s. umbrella in that region and no longer poses any kind of threat but an apology can be issued and it's not a principled and theresa stand because at the same time that this apologies issued chinese are being presented as an enemy as a and as a threat in fact the neoconservatives have you know been since the one nine hundred ninety s. talking about the rise of china and the rhetoric that accompanies it is a very racist sort of anti chinese rhetoric so i think the way to combat this is to
