doesn't do one of the fears is that it would take away all the park land that's not really true because people want to live near a park and so they're willing to pay extra for that so that just becomes more viable and. but it does break up the monopolies on the hoarding them and all of these little for example mcdonald's that has one story properties and basically pays very little property tax or or parking lots of it as we have a lot of in new york where we used to. pay one tenth the property tax of the building next door to them and i've seen actual examples of this land ownership is a concept that's so ingrained in us society since its inception but imagine how do you expect to convince property owners to give up their land. i don't i mean they would have full legal ownership of the land we have no interest in doing anything about we want people to have full legal ownership and we're only talking about economic rights and and we say that the property tax which first of all is to taxes it's a tax on buildings and a tax on land we want to make it only

a tax on land and we want to collect that for the public good but we're not interested in taking over people's land or making it. public land because if we do that and people won't have any incentive to improve it anyway so we want people to own land and have full rights to it. but we feel that the. the value of the way and should be determined by the market and the value should go back to the public purse ok well you know you can take i just wanted to say that one one argument against the philosophy that i was reading online is that let's say a kind of value of the land the term and by that determines the price the rent would go down on pieces of land that let's say corporations own that they're just polluting incessantly on that land i mean what incentive do they have to not pollute if that's what i make the larger value the last. part of what modern. georgism incorporates is what's called the big ovary in taxes which are

a great point first and foremost the espionage act has to be repealed because it's been abused repeatedly by the government to silence people like edward snowden and online activists so that should be step one the whistleblower protection act if it's anything like obama's proposed reforms of the n.s.a. and our intelligence gathering operations it's not all that substantive you know those reforms that he announced were not really reforms great you're going from three hops to two hops that still means that we now have guilt by association in america where if a friend of a friend is doing something suspicious that opens you up to warrantless scrutiny that's not what our country was founded upon those are ideals that are practiced in places like north korea where if you have a family member who knows somebody who knows somebody then you could be in deep trouble that's not supposed to be a part of the american way of life right. good point david and it's amazing that people say well this is been going on for decades the government spying on each other all the time they always have it's like dilma rousseff isn't spying on every
