thanks for staying with us quarter past the hour germany registered the euro groans highest growth rate this quarter as exports pump money back into the economy there's artie's peter all over reports the good official news will be cold comfort to one in every six germans in danger of being dragged into poverty. business is booming in germany but under the surface there's a surprising number of people failing to get anything from it but one supports fiercest we still have six million people on long term unemployment benefits that means almost one in ten households live on welfare and in fact figures from the german office of national statistics and eurostar to show that just over sixteen percent of germans are at risk of falling into poverty compare that to the situation in france the czech republic or the netherlands and you see that more people can potentially slip through the safety net in europe's economic powerhouse
12:16 pm
this is seeing more and more germans turning to charities for help this food distribution center in berlin is one of many all around the country that helps to feed around one point six million germans every single month and if you look at the type of things that they're sorting out if the distribution it's fruit it's a batch to both it's the type of things that people need to have in their diets but that some in germany just can't afford. food you mention so many people try and deal with their poverty but it one point they realise they just can't take it anymore and they come to us it's a difficult step but it becomes the only solution. one woman who gave me the name and who didn't want to be identified told me how grateful she is for the help the food bank provides. i have everything here eggs even fish bread the little things make a big difference the money i get from the state goes to keep the power on at most i

have one hundred fifty euros a month i'm very happy to have this because of this i can buy clothes and live. some of those receiving handouts accuse germany's politicians of caring more for wider europe and the german people event demanded up the part of europe that we help you. why don't you help us we have hungry kids but the government says we should help immigrants to move them we have to close the open to all charity organizers say that they've seen a change in the demographic of those coming to them for help it took a mention so it's called we've noticed an increase of older people which is unbelievable for us traditionally old people in germany wouldn't ask for free food and now they have no internal so we see more people whose need has become stronger and change. whilst it is true that as a nation germany led the euro crisis better than most is a fine line between boom and bust the people in the biggest economy peter all of

want to convict us other than that we're arabs to them and that's the pure racism and big policy of this country that used to form even six other arabs were found guilty of attempted to murder in a ton santa and his radio jewish terrorist who took aim at them. it's a conviction that is hard to comprehend very hard that the innocent and victim is even put on trial let alone convicted on a ship it was here back in august two thousand and five that saddam and his way the soldier who deserted the army used his military issued rifle to fire at our passengers on a bus he killed four and wounded seventeen before being attacked by the crowd they grabbed him while he was being handcuffed by police he never made it off the bus and those who were sentenced for his death i think he's more to it than north from the israelis using acts of power to educate us so that if such attacks happen again no one will dare to do anything i compared unstudied similar cases to this one in

court where iris from israel committed acts against jews and they were killed by james for taking the law into their hands the jews were never convicted and no charges were brought against them it's clear there is a double standard in the justice courts a case in point. and he's ready jew who shot and killed an arab terrorist after he murdered his shiva students while they were studying in jerusalem in two thousand and eight i shot him with two bullets in the head he spun around and he was teetering and then the guy with the m. sixteen who is hiding behind a side door finished the deal we kept shooting at him until we emptied our magazines and that was them yet them this is they didn't even open an investigation file against that doing one of the police didn't even ask him didn't even check of the air was dead or not the scales of justice amin to balance in this scale. for we seem to feel killing a jewish terrorist in this scale doing praised for killing an arab terrorist

there and happy valentine's day my boom busters here's what's coming up on the show . now the potential comcast time warner merger would create an enormous company with extensive control over television content and internet service this is a good thing we look at the details of the deal coming right up plus we have the one meal me mr peter schiff live on today's show the money manager author and financial pundit is giving us his thoughts on the u.s. economy wage growth euro zone and pretty much everything else for that matter you will want to miss that either and finally it's friday which means it's viewer feedback day here on boom bust harrison i address your questions comments concerns that i have on the shelf now let's get to.
12:26 pm
our big story today comcast is gobbling up its main competitor time warner cable now the forty five billion dollars deal gives comcast the potential to completely reinvent the media landscape by wiping out its major rival comcast would have thirty three million cable subscribers and almost more importantly just as many broadband users giving it. away when it comes to setting market prices negotiating licensing fees and deciding what shows you can watch now the major implications will surely invite public scrutiny by regulators but with comcast huge lobbying presence in washington many experts believe it's unlikely that the merger will be judged anti-competitive remember the comcast and n.b.c. universal marriage back in two thousand and eleven well made. your protest pretty much they pretty much went unnoticed following that deal so might happen again now
12:27 pm
this deal will give comcast such a dominant position in the internet and television broadcast world that some are crying monopoly the deal is expected to close at the end of the year that is unless we see apple t.v. but that. our next guest is a very popular one and it's no secret investor and financial commentator peter schiff thinks that the u.s. dollar is going to fall off a cliff and he also thinks interest rates are going to skyrocket peter schiff joins us now via skype from west port connecticut peter first in front of us thanks for joining us and now the last time we spoke you saw bond yields going higher especially in view of the fed's tapering but since that time there's been data out
12:28 pm
of the u.s. that's been well weak do you still feel of bearish about the u.s. government right now how do you feel to talk to well absolutely and you know when i talk about interest rates skyrocketing that's what's going to happen after the dollar collapses but before the dollar collapses the fed is going to print dollars to buy bonds to prevent interest rates from rising now the reason that interest rates have fallen somewhat on the long bond over the past few months is because a lot of bad economic data has now come to the surface i was expecting all of this bad data because i was saying for months and months as the fed first started talking about tapering that if they ever actually did it they would have to undo it because the minute they tapered the markets would start to go down stock market real estate market the economy would start slipping back into recession and the fed would be forced to have to embarrass tingly reverse their position which is what
12:29 pm
they're going to do but i think the bond market is now getting ready for the fed to at least take a climb out on the taper and ultimately i think they're going to ramp it back up again and be doing more than eighty five billion a month now since we. it's growth it's been poor during this recovery what can be done to get wages up in your opinion well first we need a real recession that is the problem that in till we clear out the damage that has been caused by all the mal investment all the misallocations or resources that have happened as a result of our monetary policy in till that happens we're never going to have a real recovery that's going to produce real wealth and higher wages so as long as the fed is blowing bubbles real wages are going to keep falling and the average american is going to keep seeing his standard of living diminished as a few people benefit from all the cheap money flowing from the fed well i guess the follow up to that would then be is wage growth something that public policy makers should concern themselves with at all well wages will grow as
12:30 pm
a natural brive pop byproduct of a free market when you have capitalism and you have businesses investing their profits and you become more efficient you have greater economies of scale real wages are going to go up as consumer prices come down and your standard of living rises the government interferes with that process by creating inflation and by undermining productivity with regulations and taxes so if you want a vibrant economy if you want to see we real wages growing the government to get out of the way ok but you know how full they pay down debt but without wage growth do you think that household debt is going to become a problem again well i don't think households have pay down debt i think they're drowning in debt but mortgage debt is still there the credit card debt is still there the student loan debt is still there the auto loans are still there we have record amounts of debt and it's not only individuals it's corporations people like to talk about the cash that corporations have.
