best way to the heart of. explosions and street fights are reported here with anti-government rioters shooting at police and blocking traffic the death toll from the recent violence reaches at least eighty with hundreds more injured. radicals who refused to leave the streets despite the deal signed between the president and the opposition on a number of concessions polluting early elections and a major overhaul of power rafa say the only accept his resignation. that's as western powers seem to be ignoring a vast arsenal now in the hands of the protesters in washington slap a large part of the blame on the government.
9:01 am
as it is r.t. international would be twenty four hours a day live from our studio center here in moscow and we start with the latest news from ukraine where a peace deal has been signed between the president and the opposition its terms include an early presidential election in december and follows the rest which is engulf the country however radical anti-government rioters are refusing to wait that long now there have been reports coming in from kiev of shooting and explosions being heard in the city center rioters are said to be attacking police forces guarding the governmental area hundreds of camouflaged clad mask wearing use armed with clubs have moved to block traffic in one of the city's major streets and here you can see what the city looks like after days of deadly rioting. well at least eighty lives have been lost so far since the unrest started on tuesday and that's just the official figure the opposition claims the number of casualties is
9:02 am
much higher i witness reports and numerous videos show dozens of bodies lying openly in the streets covered only by thin blankets a number of those injured is in the hundreds. has more on the president's move to reconciliation and the reaction of the radical opposition. well this is so far the biggest concession coming from the president he says that he will initiate early presidential ballots also he says that the country will return to the constitution of two thousand and four providing that more authority will be given to the parliament and also he says that he will now initiate the procedure of forming a coalition government which will obviously contain many politicians from the opposition side definitely this is a big concession but as far as we can hear from the independence square the protesters are not ready to take on these conditions they have and they have only one demand after which they would be able to hold some kind of peace talks that is the immediate resignation off at present and also they have been saying some of
9:03 am
them have been saying that he needs to go on trial so their mood is pretty much defined as ever we also have information from the interior ministry a little earlier that some of the protesters have broken the cease fire and fired live rounds at the police nads next to the parliament building also they have been reports of several attempts to storm the parliament although all these attacks have been reportedly repelled so despite what the president believes to be an attempt to find a peaceful solution to impose some sort of truce this does not look like a truce at all in fact we've been there before last night on wednesday the opposition the government has to agree on the troops but on thursday morning we all know what happened the one of the oldest hotels in the central part of kiev turned into a real fortress with lots of fire with lots of live shots being fired all around it we were caught in the middle of this crossfire something i will tell you in my report. truce it did not seem like
9:04 am
that at all in the early hours of thursday morning despite a ceasefire agreed during the night by politicians right wing rioters made it clear they will not listen to anyone and will not lay down their arms what we have now is that you have a radical alamance that we have a ready column. militant there which is somehow here and driven by especially as we see using snipers and so on and which is not controlled neither by the the opposition there by the west directly so everything went out of control beyond opposition as it is now they want they want to take power from a democratically elected government and for a new foreign ministers to not be condemning what we have seen this week in kiev is absolutely appalling it's intolerable kiev was consumed as the raging ground and police trying to hold them back exchanged our crew even got caught in the middle of
9:05 am
it at one point so this is our day started in kiev or we're trying to do a live shot for one of our live positions we're getting ready when somebody fired a sniper shot from the window breaking the glass and hitting the wall you can see for yourself this is definite suggesting a live round was fired here and later in one of the rooms of aa we found this a seven sixty two bullet for some time the hotel located next to independence square became a fortress under siege windows and walls were riddled with bullet holes and snipers from the protest movement occupy the top floor while the lobby was turned into something else altogether and this is not your typical hotel lobby now its reception desk is a makeshift hospital where the injured and the dead have been brought here all throughout the day i'll ask one of the doctors what exactly had to deal with here during the day your game is going to put out this gym with you we just don't get it we've dealt with a lot of wounded people mostly gunshot wounds many of them died snipers were

operating a shoot to kill policy. when the sun set on after another day of bitter violence more dead and injured littered the streets and the truce lay in tatters radicals continue to demand a revolution and fight to the end and which is for. now nowhere in sight. so alexy is there in kiev keeping an eye on the latest developments in the crisis ridden ukraine if you want to be updated on the story you can follow him on his twitter feed where he's posting the most up to date news from independence square well the ukrainian parliament is possible resolution that would see anti-terrorist operations put on hold and government forces withdrawn from kiev more than a dozen policemen have been captured by rioters and you can see them here being escorted to one of the protests headquarters where so far sixteen officers have been killed and more than a hundred injured r.t. spoke to a former member of the armed response unit of london's metropolitan police force
9:07 am
and he gave us his view on the actions of both the rioters and the authorities in kiev what we're seeing is a situation that from moved from from protests and conflict into really of with turned or a lot of commentator into the revolution so i think it's gone beyond that you know if the police were not of in this situation now then i think we would be coming militarized anyone so we are not talking about the usual policing of protests but we're talking of something a much higher level so i think it's probably unavoidable it's gone beyond that point on both sides this is because i struggle between greater forces of minorities are on the street there are great political issues here there are wider implications concerning the democracy and of. on our website r.t. dot com we've been following the dramatic change in kiev the landscape there wants picturesque independence square is shown in contrast to what it looks like now a wasteland cluttered with de bruyne rubble as people pick their way through raging
9:08 am
fires and the people most suffering from the unrest of those who attempt to protest peacefully so says derek munro from the foreign policy in focus think tank. it is very troubling specific from a political standpoint were the courage to different factions which are probably the most aggressive in an overall fraidy are really beyond any control the only control of the people who are really protesting peacefully also beyond control the major league of opposition parties so it's basically a state of flux of words individual party or faction where it's where there is a. where that might be their own interests their own mission control and research really are doing whatever they feel it's necessary for them to achieve their own goals which are at this point i'm not sure what the goals where you are because it seems to be changed from hour to hour minute to minute well from kiev chaos quickly spread to western ukraine
9:09 am
a region traditionally critical of the government the city of revolvers being left virtually without a police force most offices including many high ranking ones have actually moved to kiev and join the anti-government protests on independence square but at the moment it's impossible to even call the police report a crime involved little surprise in the hundreds of forums battens and other raw to military equipment have been looted from a local base there and given away to antigovernment relatives and throughout the west of the country radicals have been using guns homemade bombs and improvise weapons to take over government offices well such behavior has been causing outrage amid some in the east of the country this part of ukraine is traditionally more pro russian and has greater support for president in a cave which and his government and locals have been organizing against anti-government rot as we've been emerging here too is where the radicals have blocked the city hall and the police headquarters government offices were also surrounded in one of the east biggest cities. petrofsky but people's militia squads
9:10 am
have been joining forces with the police and they seem determined to fight off the spreading radical threat. this idea originated in the minds of our petri it's when there is a difficult situation where nationalist contagion spreads across ukraine when we capture one region after another when they attack ordinary citizens people organize unite and create a structure of self-defense while in the past week rioters in the capital have managed to heavily armed themselves getting a molotov cocktail in the ukrainian city doesn't seem to be all that difficult with the weapon becoming a popular choice homemade catapults and bowser adding to a mediæval appearance to the bloodshed there and rioters got their hands on more than firearms as well with snipers keeping the center of the city in their sights and forcing up the death toll but all of this evidence of violence
9:11 am
by the rioters is not enough to sway western politicians the u.s. state department is placing all responsibility on the authorities imposing travel bans sanctions on some officials now this follows similar statements from high ranking e.u. officials and they claim it's peaceful protesters who have been taking a battering from the government and urging those in power to take action and curb the violence russia's foreign minister said the west has added its fuel to the conflict often encouraging extremists in the streets while director of the antiwar coalition brian becker believes that western countries support rioters with a clear political goal in mind. the united states and the e.u. the nato powers have been using all kinds of pressure on the ukraine government with the effort to bring the ukraine into the e.u. which means to bring it into nato right on russia's border and in november what they did is they gave an ultimatum to the ukraine government you either make
9:12 am
a decision now be with russia or be with the e.u. no other choice then they outlined the plan which was to impose extreme austerity measures on the ukrainian people as part of the admission policy to get into the e.u. then of course they helped castigate or create these protests and now as the protesters are using extreme violence as the government is using violence and as the government is trying to maintain order the u.s. in the e.u. saying now we will impose sanctions for the use of violence so this is a full court press this is pressure what's the real purpose i think it's to break up the ukrainian government with the hopefully we can in their government toppling their government and getting a government that will take the country into the e.u. into the western sphere of influence and this has to be seen by russia as a great threat scenes of a war zone blazing barricades people on fire as well as dead and wounded being carried away from the streets over an r.t. dot com you'll find some of the. apocalyptic images from kiev that have made
9:13 am
headlines around the world. well they do stay with us for more news and those developments there in kiev we'll of course keep you up to date and hopefully i'll be talking to our correspondent live there in the city center after a short break. good laboratory mccurdy was able to build a most sophisticated robot which fortunately doesn't give a darn about anything mission to teach me creation why it should care about humans in the world this is why you should care only.

choose your language. make it with. the consensus. choose the opinions that invigorating. choose the stories that impact your life choose. to. returning to our top story here an international of a peace deal signed in ukraine between the government and the opposition well let's go live now to. use that in the city center this is very recent news
9:15 am
how has this peace deal news being taken there amongst the protests as in the streets of kiev. well they don't seem to be particularly happy with this the fact that the opposition and the president have signed this deal what we keep hearing from this stage over here at the independence square is that they want the immediate resignation of the president and some are even saying that the president must go on trial for everything which has been happening in the ukrainian capital in the past several months they laid the blame directly on the country's president would like to remind that the deal which the opposition and the president has just managed to sign is essentially the largest concessions coming from the authorities towards the opposition which include early presidential ballots which include a return to the two thousand and four constitution which essentially gives more power to the parliament than the president has as well as many other concessions but the date of the early election has not yet been set and this is probably
9:16 am
causing the biggest concern because the rumor is there that the early election could be held in december twenty fourth which is just a month earlier than they were supposed to be held anyway in january twenty fifteen and this is something which the protesting people here at the my down at the independence square up with see clearly unhappy with and also the biggest intrigue right now is whether the so-called right wing sect the hardcore core of the hard core part of the protests the guys who are essential on the front line shooting at the policemen and driving this whole haven here whether they will accept this deal because from what we've been hearing from the movement's lead me to you know to show over the past several days that they will not accept any kind of peace treaties with the government and the opposition furthering the concerns that they are no longer controlled by the opposition that they are on their own and they are being please clear statements coming from them that they wanted the revolution to continue until the very end essentially this doesn't look like a truce at the moment because as we remember
9:17 am
a truce was reached on wednesday night and on thursday morning if again turned to hell seeing the worst violence ever since this. out of the broadest of probably ever since ukraine became a sovereign state so it's early to say whether this whole thing will come to an end and whether people from the independence square will actually go home having reached what they have achieved. and actually get she thanks very much indeed for that update with the news that a peace deal has indeed been signed between the president and the opposition and well protesters have been found guilty of inciting mass armrests in moscow and assaulting police during riots back in twenty twelve the defendants refute the charges and a crowd of their supporters has formed outside the courthouse. reports in what the judge had to say the court found eight people guilty of inciting mass riots and using force against the law enforcers the prosecution had been asking for between five to six years in prison while all of the suspects pleaded not guilty the
9:18 am
defense was actually saying that the protests could not be classified as mass riots however some of the convicted were actually videotaped while fighting with the police and throwing rocks at them and just to remind you that the big demonstration to place on the sixth of may two thousand and twelve when hasn't of people took into the streets protesting against the violations in the parliamentary elections and the protest that was authorized and peaceful initially turned into violent clashes with police dozens of people were injured over four hundred people would be tamed and the criminal case was opened and twenty nine people were charged now eight of the suspects were released in december as part of a wide misty as they didn't use any force against the police and the three other people that have been amnesty only this week the case has really resonated

across russia a crowd of supporters was gathered on friday in front of the board but the courts and the judge said they will continue reading the verdict on monday at ten thirty. well most three quarters of a million houses in the u.k. are standing empty and this at a time when as a serious shortage of residential buildings. went to one of london's most prestigious streets that's become a symbol for britain's bricks and mortar crisis. the bishops avenue in north london is one of the most expensive streets in europe it's been home to saudi royalty film stars and media tycoon use this mansion is on the market for sixty five million pounds but some of the other properties here tell a different story an investigation by the guardian newspaper has revealed that large swathes of the most expensive part of the street have fallen into disrepair because no one is living in them that's about three hundred fifty million pounds

worth of property boarded up and standing vacant but even as they stand derelict these houses are getting more expensive a former pakistani minister bought this house back in two thousand and seven for twelve million pounds it's now back on the market and expected to sell for thirty million pounds and it's a wreck there's nothing wrong with the road it is quite normal to have. maybe table twenty percent of the properties as we call it in the state of flux bishops avenue is after all an iconic road which is one of the best known names in the world and therefore it protects your investment it's a status symbol so for most people coming into this country and for local bars bishops ticks a lot of books but away from the leafy avenue the u.k.

a quarter of the population is made up of immigrants from e.u. countries that is a lot of people and the swiss are worried that the increased foreigners will also mean increased crime rent prices burd the state and erode traditional local culture as modern immigration almost always does this was populations democratic choice to restrict immigration is now actually being blasted by the e.u. brass what threats to cancel bilateral agreements how dare you have a different version of democracy than we in the you have switzerland how dare you i don't think this event will have much effect on the e.u. bureaucratic machine nothing could make them change their hyper liberal minds but i think the swiss anti immigration referendum will have a huge effect on local populations of countries like germany and the u.k. which are seeing horrible effects of open borders and growing anti e.u. sentiment as i speak i don't like to make predictions by i think a lot of disenfranchised people across the e.u. are going to become quite jealous of the swiss move and demand the same type of changes at home but that's just my opinion.
