we're not going to quit we will not stop until it is done what is more precious music more moving. will call for an unimpeded international investigation after a malaysian airlines passenger jet crashes in eastern ukraine killing all two hundred ninety eight. relatives of the victims overwhelmed with grief. and loss of more than one hundred fifty of its citizens and the boeing seven seven seven came down. to kiev and the government forces are accusing each other of bringing down the plane you're an aussie international we take a closer look at the blame game that's well on the way.

headlines live from moscow it's the international with me rule thank you for joining us today. deborah and corpses scattered across an area covering fifteen kilometers and the aftermath of a malaysia airlines passenger plane crash in eastern ukraine this was on thursday all two hundred ninety eight people on board were killed fewer than half of the victims have been recovered so far witnesses spoke of seeing bodies falling from the sky. i saw a piece of the plane fall about four hundred meters from my apartment when i went to check it out i saw scattered bodies from a distance it looked like debris was falling but as it turned out it was people falling out of the aircraft you know it was terrible what i saw first i saw the smoke and fire going the firemen started to put out the flame and. there were

children too there were bodies to see here and there now the plane on route from amsterdam to kuala lumpur was actually flying over the part of eastern ukraine where kiev officials are continuing their very heavy military crackdown against anti-government forces and the plane disappeared from radar shortly before entering russian space ukraine's president accused antigovernment fighters of downing the plane with a rocket calling it a terrorist attack but militia groups are saying they don't have that kind of access to weapons needed to do that kind of strike now the nationalities of the majority of people on board crashed a malaysian airliner have now been identified more than half of them one hundred fifty four what dutch another thirty eight victims were malaysian including the fifteen crewmembers also on the plane were nine britons four germans three filipinos and one canadian. some of the latest pictures

coming from kuala lumpur as families have gathered in the country's main airport shortly after they found out exactly what happened and many became angry demanding to see the passenger manifest desperate for news of their loved ones. so the worst hit has been the netherlands which has lost one hundred and fifty four of its citizens relatives now want to know exactly what's happened and reporting from the point of departure at the airport in amsterdam as artie's party boy. relatives and friends would have gone to bed last night hoping that everything that took place yesterday was just a dreadful nightmare but holland has woken up this morning to nothing short of a national tragedy as you said the majority of the passengers on that flight were dutch nationals and that flight took off from here where i am in amsterdam steeple airport before it crashed in ukraine and the scenes we saw here yesterday absolute devastation of the devastated passengers relatives just trying
5:04 am
to obtain information about what had happened to their loved ones and the grief and the shock of coming to terms with their losses it was just unbelievable we also know that a number of the passengers were headed to melbourne for an international aid conference with a sense of shock last night but this morning the country has woken up to the tragedy and the reality of that very high death toll from holland. and from our sister network the spanish correspondent francisco at the scene of the crash in the early hours of the. in these kilometers that is is that you can see several pieces of the aircraft the antique here said that they don't have the capability to shoot an aircraft who is in a distance of ten thousand meters. of play in an investigation
5:05 am
it's a situation that is very important and has important political connotations because here in the last days there was a big combat between the militia and think here and there or granny and forces. data from flight tracking service flight radar twenty four suggests the plane deviated from its usual route and factor compared to the course of other planes have taken over ukraine in recent days or this one over here the red one we're talking about m.h. seventeen it goes much further to the south originally near the volatile eastern regions so ultimately that the malaysian plane actually reached going over the most volatile area and it's not known exactly why now some observers say the complexity of the conflict in eastern ukraine will make the investigation into the tragedy even more difficult because the opinion of every asian security expert

julian. what i can't understand is why malays you know ways allowed their seven cents to fly through what is a combat zone and it's flying its normal height round about thirty two thousand feet and the normal speeds now there are several theories but it would probably be a big misawa that she brought it down if it was a missile it looks judging by that it was actually hit by a missile but we con confirm this it would have to be a large miss my understanding is that ukraine government has large missiles but the rebels only have x. which is a missile fired off the shoulder so they might have been what they would call a lucky shot and they might have seen a bleed a big black line in the sky thinking it was a transport aircraft a military transport that is possible but i would have thought that the ground troops ground forces would have actually had radios and they would actually have a fair indication that it was a commercial airliner above them it's either

a horrible mistake or a catastrophic mistake or somebody clearly wanted to take that aircraft out and keeping us updated from the russia ukraine border as our correspondent everyone going to go well at this point it does seem that there is information coming in that the self-defense forces from this upper claimed donetsk people's republic of that are also working on the scene of facts where some of the first ones to be at the site of the crash there are reports coming in saying that they have recovered a second black box now exactly where those boxes are heading from there on is not yet clear there have been there has been information that the self defense forces wanted to transfer them to moscow for investigation so however we do know that there have been increasing calls coming in from e.u. officials from the secretary general of nato calling for an international investigation into this horrific tragedy and we also know that always c.e.o. observers are said to be heading to the site of the crash so perhaps the recovery
5:08 am
of the black boxes is something that will take us one step closer to finding out their reasons and the actual causes of this disaster. and sort of from the interstate every action committee says that an international commission must now be allowed to get in there and investigate. understanding the difficulty of the situation in the area of the incident we consider it necessary to create an international investigation commission which could be established under the authority of the international civil aviation organization and to pass on to it all the flight recorders souls in the pool to go. in the meantime as a told ukraine it must thoroughly investigate the crash and mr putin saying that it must be an international and totally transparent investigation i talked about it earlier with edward cullen. the kremlin spokesman dmitri of tell the british newspaper the guardian that it's stupid to presume that russia is culpable and the
5:09 am
president vladimir putin has said that ukraine has to bear responsibility for this tragedy it happened over ukrainian territory and if there was pace in eastern ukraine then this would never have happened now this is what the president had to say earlier. we have to do everything in our capability to make sure in a picture of what happened when i meet hardly known to people in our country as well as the people of ukraine and the whole world what happened is completely unacceptable and no one has the right to walk away with me give you the conclusion of what happened if. i want to point out that this tragedy wouldn't have happened if there was peace on the ukrainian land at least if the fighting hadn't had resumed in the south east without any doubt the state on whose territory this happened must stand responsible for this horrible tragedy the kremlin has said that it won't make any further statements until more details are known about what
5:10 am
exactly happened. so one after another major air carriers are diverting their planes around ukrainian airspace among them our air france. many others are europe's transport agency euro control has advised all e.u. carriers to avoid ukraine's aspace more now with peter all over from berlin we heard a short statement from german chancellor angela merkel in which she said she was shocked and expressed her condolences to the families of those who have been killed who are expecting a further statement from her in a few hours time that go into a little bit more depth we've heard from a colleague there probably boyko in in amsterdam the dutch prime minister has also been expressing his condolences the u.k. where nine people it seems were on that flight nine u.k. citizens david cameron the prime minister there held a meeting with senior government officials to decide what the next step would be
5:11 am
what they actually knew about what had happened and then the united kingdom went to the united nations and asked for a special set a special session of the security council now that session will take place in new york later on friday but what we are seeing though is an outpouring of condolence and grief here in europe as all car is just about have said that they're going to try and employed all of ukrainian airspace. control who are the european body that monitor air traffic control and give guidelines and traffic control of rule eastern ukraine though an absolute no go area until we find out anything more about what's happened with this terrible tragedy that's touched lives across europe and u.s. intelligence officials claiming the plane was downed by a surface to air missile but have not specifically blamed either side of the american vice president joe biden said a team of specialists will be sent to assist ukrainian authorities with the
5:12 am
investigation a guy nature can with more details now from washington. u.s. officials believe it was a surface to air missile that shot down the malaysian plane over ukraine the u.s. is not pointing the blame finger just yet president obama spoke with the ukrainian leader. we can be sure that the blame game in the coming days and weeks is going to be vicious there are questions as to who had the capability to do this the ukrainian military certainly has the capability a launch like that would require a team of specialists as we hear from many experts and there is another question why was this malaysian airliner flying over the conflict zone we know that u.s. airlines had been avoiding the area for some time precisely because it was deemed unsafe what kind of instructions did this plane we see from the ukrainian air traffic control what exactly was happening inside the cockpit just moments before the tragedy hopefully we'll get more answers when investigators get hold of the black box of course one of the main questions at this point is who is going to
5:13 am
investigate this the u.n. secretary general spoke out calling for an international investigation one of the concerns moving forward is that the investigation could eventually be politicized the blame game is full on in the media even before any facts have been established . from a pilot traffic controller desmond ross told me there are still some gray areas in the story being presented by the mainstream media. the first one is the cockpit voice recorder which records the last two hours of all communications and all conversations in the cockpit so that that two hours leading up to the final moments should give us a fairly good indication of what was going on and that made them tell us that this knew nothing about it whatsoever that it just happened frankly there's a couple of things that are kind of curious about the images that i've been seeing on television when the aircraft was feared it would be pressurized more or less a mediately if there was a large hole blown in the fuselage aurukun factors that have been
5:14 am
a sudden decompression of that nature would have been quite a glamorous for people who had very few seconds of consciousness and before the car started and it would fall on obviously great distance to the ground and so interesting it that they might be quite intact one would expect that might be showing some signs of damage you know the other thing that i found really interesting it is the collection of our sports that are being shown on television which will appear to be very treanor and almost brand new. and they've been collected obviously very quickly you know or composites of compute cases perhaps so there are some interesting aspects to the whole thing we were going to come out of the investigation is conducted professionally and probably. some of the accusations against antigovernment fighters are based on a single tweet which was reportedly posted and then did lead from the social media account of the dawn yet to the people's republic the tweet was allegedly of both from anti government forces that they had taken possession of an advanced surface to air missile system capable of bringing down the plane however in an interview to
5:15 am
the ukrainian media kiev the prosecutor general actually denied that weapons had fallen into the hands of militants and other allegation coming from ukrainian officials is based around what they say is an intercepted phone call between antigovernment fighters in it they purportedly admit to shooting down the plane. now if indeed this passenger jet was shot down there are a few weapons in the region that are able to do that and one possible example is the book surface to air missile system several former soviet countries use the weapon including ukraine it has the ability to intercept up to twenty four targets at the same time with a distance of up to forty five kilometers an altitude of twenty five kilometers in fact its missiles travel up to twelve hundred meters per second as yet there's no confirmation this missile system was the cause of the crash. we spoke to an expert chris yates soever he believes that this almost certainly was indeed that
5:16 am
of a missile strike. there are total sorry. that would indicates whether this is a missile strike or otherwise. that will be presence on the remnants of the fuselage if when a proper analysis is done of the lines a jolly good safety record would be the the acro for that was all for three triple seven. often described as a war of course of the skies. opened earlier this year with the law also delays in m.h. three seven zero the line a serious safety related incident for some considerable number of years so there's nothing to spring springs to mind mind that could indicate that this was a save the related. it had to be. probably
5:17 am
a missile strike let's take a look at the chronology of the events here on r.t. international at twelve fifteen pm local time the plane left amsterdam for kuala lumpur at four twenty one pm ukrainian time all radio and radar contact with the flight was lost within the hour and forces arrived at the crash site after a thorough sweep of the wreckage they found no survivors by seven pm both kiev and anti government troops had denied shooting down the plane instead pinned the blame on each other three hours later the opposition said it had her cup with the plane's flight recorders and would hand them over for investigation as leading malaysian airlines now to notify hundreds of grief stricken relatives international investigators haven't arrived at the crash site yet but the ukrainian authorities and some western media have been very quick to blame anti kiev fighters

correspondent marina porter takes us through some of the well what's probably possibly wild speculation in the media. a shocking tragedy claiming the lives of nearly three hundred victims before any investigation even begins the lack of credible facts has it prevented many in the west from jumping to conclusions according to the sun newspaper the russian president is personally responsible for downing the malaysia airlines plane in ukraine and accusation some u.s. officials are doing their best to feel if it is a result of either separatist or russian actions mistakenly believing there was a ukrainian war plane i think there's going to be able to pay and there should be there does seem to be growing awareness that it probably had to be russian surgeons know how we determine that will require some forensics but then if there is
5:19 am
evidence pointing in that direction the equipment had to come from russia either the missile came from it's a missile that came from russia or it was from the separatists and it's a buccal style vessel i mean this came from russia russia has their fingerprints all over it either way why stop it fingers according to the daily mail russia's hands are soaked in blood some journalists conveniently camouflaged their blame with a question mark headline after headline asking if russia is to blame very few bothering to enquire about ukraine's possible role in the plane crash the new york times on the other hand reported ukraine's accusations leaving no room in this article for russia's position the us nato and russia have all called for an investigation to be launched to establish the facts many media outlets have already created their narrative even if it means bypassing the truth during a port ny r.t.
5:20 am
new york. we spoke to charlie mcgrath the founder of wide awake news he believes the western media has a very quickly chosen a scapegoat in light of the fact that didn't only three hundred people just died i hate to jump into bashing but since you asked the question i will this is a western backed regime inside a key appear chico is absolutely put there by the united states by the e.u. by the international monetary fund they say you know like i said the ukraine is not in the forefront of the people's mind in the west it's going to be now and when i was monitoring coverage on this earlier today they give you two options for what is happening inside ukraine it's either russia's fault or pro russian separatists fault you know they're forgetting the fact that ukraine right now the ukrainian government is showing civilians is showing in urban areas and hundreds and hundreds of civilians have already been killed and killed at the hands of the ukrainian government so you know the fact that the media is not reporting the truth on the
5:21 am
ground is not surprising at all because this is the western media who is toeing the western propaganda line or ukraine's army does have some history of shooting down civilian planes within a culture but now looking back at a fatalist state during military exercises in two thousand and one. the case has bit of similarities to the incident indeed it happened thirteen years ago two thousand and one and two were a russian plane was carrying sixty six passengers as well as twelve crew members and was flying from tel of based in israel to novosibirsk now somewhere at about the black sea it happened the russian ground control center reported that it lost contact with the chance the plane disappeared from the reader and very shortly after it was revealed that the plane went down into the sea of course of the investigation was launched and there were conflicting reports and i do remember
5:22 am
there was one when the pilots the median plane that was flying above pretty much the same area as he actually saw the russian jad before crashing into the sea in his so how the jet exploded it's the number one reason behind the incident was a possible terrorist attack that's what the investigators first thought but then it turned out that the crash happened due to ukrainian a missile that broad down the plane and that happened accidentally during military exercises military drills happening at the same time in a while basically this seems area now i have to mention that the ukrainian military forces really deny it quite heated to the that they were at fault however international. investigation was carried out in international society acknowledged that was the fact that there was a ukrainian ukrainian missed that brought down that russian plane and that happened

back in two thousand and one. website has gathered information on all the previous cases where civilian aircraft were taken all by weapons you have to walk people called to see where and when they happened. all of us the top story for you today here on r.t. international israel expanding its ground invasion in gaza and one of its soldiers has been killed the first israeli military death in this part of the campaign which began late on thursday and the offensive has also led to palestinian casualties we have some video for you here. that. i voted for you know very well the brotherhood.
5:24 am
look at. these images right here showing the bodies of three children who were reportedly hit by artillery fire and they were among more than twenty palestinians who have died since this ground offensive began early friday there were heavy bombardments across gaza with locals reporting tanks crossing the border is ready warplanes have also reportedly hit a building housing several media organizations rockets are still being fired by by militants into israel and television says its ground troops are trying to destroy tunnels being used by hamas to infiltrate the country more now with reporter harry fear. we understand that one of the primary objectives of the operation is to destroy the tunnel infrastructure which is used by the fighters here israel sees this as a counterterrorism operation i spoke to one of the hamas. spokespersons and they said that israel's operation will automatically result in
5:25 am
a large number of civilian casualties and he described israel's intent towards gaza as deliberately going after gaza's civilian population it's not clear at the moment exactly to what scale this ground invasion or incursion is going to materialize but we do know that there have been incursions into the northern area of the strip specifically at least at the beit hanoun area we've also received unconfirmed reports that as a result of those incursions there have been specific casualties as a result of those ground troops moving in the israeli operation followed days of shellings in gaza with hamas also launching rockets in return overall nearly two hundred sixty palestinians have been killed most of them civilians including dozens of children and there was a short humanitarian truce on thursday that the exchange of fire resumed as soon as it ended. there's

a plenty more about gaza over on our web site. www dot com. welcome to you live from moscow this is r.t. international let's bring you back to our top story here the breaking news as it has been all morning there and corpses scattered across an area covering fifteen kilometers the aftermath of a malaysia airlines passenger plane crash in eastern ukraine on thursday all two hundred ninety eight people on board were killed fewer than half of the victims have been recovered so far witnesses spoke of seeing bodies raining from the sky. i saw a piece of the plane fall about four hundred meters from my apartment when i went to check it out i saw scattered bodies from a distance it looked like debris was falling but as it turned out it was people falling out of the aircraft. it was terrible what i saw at first i saw smoke and fire and when the firemen started to put out the flames. there were children too

there were bodies to see here and there now the plane was on route from amsterdam to kuala lumpur in fact it was actually flying over the part of eastern ukraine where kiev continues with its officials to have its very heavy clampdown on anti government forces the plane then disappeared from radar shortly before entering russian airspace ukraine's president accused antigovernment fighters of downing the plane with a rocket calling it a terrorist attack the militia groups say they don't have access to those kinds of weapons that could take out a plane about kind of altitude of the nationalities of most of those on board have now been identified more than one half of one hundred seventy three of them to be exact what dutch and other forty four victims of malaysian including the fifteen crewmembers also on the plane were twenty seven australians twelve indonesians nine britons four germans four belgians as well as other nationalities twenty eight more victims are still being identified. these are some of the latest pictures are
