a gold watch some players might say that i think differently i think for me what really inspired me early on was the responsibility probably also the equipment as a little kid i thought it was just amazing looking interesting looking and heavy heavy but still there's something about it the mask in the gloves and pads and that was all the little bit of the quarterback or the pitcher which was the pitcher the catch of acquitting baseboards close i think it's a unique position because you're on a team it's a team sport but it seemed time you're by yourself for the most part of the game you do your own thing you focus on the old game and the all the minutes yet you do it so it's a different approach i think is specially mentally than if you compared to the defensemen forward the rangers the entire nine years old the rangers they draft you they did. around seventh round who yeah oh it was

a late one. and my brother he went in the third round for dallas and i was a forward right it was a forward he's still playing but. i thought i would end up in dallas in the sixth round the because we talked to them about maybe going there if i was still around but they didn't pay me and then in the south them went to new york and what do you think though about coming to new york the most famous city. i think my last year played in sweden this is all four or five people kept telling me i think new york will fit you you will like it and it's a good challenge for you i wasn't sure what they were talking about but my first year in new york i kind of understood where we were coming from and. i loved it you know the day one they were going to say she intrigued me so well in the city it's just exciting to be there it's definitely challenging sometimes but. if you love to compete and know the new yorker knows the sports they do and even they would have

played in times if they booed you deserve to be right in the well the first time i watched the rangers game they booed off the entire team after the game that was my first moment watching raider oculus like wow this is this can be a scary place but at the same time. you know when you do well i don't think there's a better place to play some of these over to have done well in new york. i think it's a lot tougher to come in as a big name for me personally i came in as a nobody you know i had some some good years in sweden but coming to new york nobody really knew who we were kind of like which was so i just had to start from the beginning again when did you know you were good. good question i don't know iran honda thirteen fourteen fifteen there a lot of people say you have talent but you know it's a long way to go. but. i always tell dreaming that you know one day my

play for the national team or for my team in sweden from london it's called that was my biggest dream and then you still play with i play there before i came to new york and my brothers back there playing now but you don't go by them played in mono no now it's only in new york full time you play for the national team i do. most in the olympics world championships usually we're we're in the playoffs still with the rangers so it's hard to leave and then play three hundred but that's that's a really proud moment when when you go out and play for you doesn't every award possible that didn't get as a goal be and how do you want to stay with the rangers for a. the reverend i believe does yeah and last year you know i resigned with the team and it was a big priority for me and i spent nine years there and to get it chance now to to play your entire career for one team that was important to me and i'm happy that

you know they believe in me presided i definitely even down in america where they knew even though they show up every game and arranges every seat is taken at every ranger game it's always been that way the range is always so out it's still the fourth sport in america right best football baseball football does that bother you at all or is that the way it is because in europe as not true right all in all if you just accept that and it's obviously different when you go to canada and play it that we're hockey is everything but playing in new york i think it's the perfect mix of being in the spotlight but then get a break from it and a lot of it because you know it's not the biggest sport but also because in new york or so when i think's going on so you can you're in there for a little bit and then you kind of disappear and live a pretty normal life which is nice taking the final with the king as the rangers finally get to the finals had a great and you had a great while i thought to give what do you miss because that would if you get said goal one second bill but yeah here we had two two second overtime games here in

l.a. . you know it's tough when the season ends and and. you go from a high pressure situation and so much adrenaline to nothing did a lot in a way that i do think was a look in the game you need like it's a fast game and you need luck in every game i think and sometimes you have it sometimes you don't buy a lot of times you're in it but it misses by an inch yeah and you know you will always talk but you have to earn it by making good decisions and and work hard and i thought they play really well the kings stay there are a great team and we fought until the end there but with a little bit more of luck i think it could have been a difference here is no question the hardest part is the pressure right or do you put that away. for a goalie i would say so yes it's how you think it's how you handle expectations from yourself from your teammates and especially the fans and the entire organization so that's why when you play in big games the pressure adds up and i

think the difference between doing well and not doing well is how you manage that are farmed out stuff or or not. they're fun you know it's a challenge to fit it to to go up against the best players because a lot of times they send out the best player on the team and as a goalie you have a big say in you're going to win or lose so. you have an affinity for the soccer goalie has got a bigger net bigger now a few shots still i was watching the world cup a lot in the. five to ten shots a game it was all pros judd's or break a record yeah that's right you play in new york with another great athlete derek jeter you know and i don't know no. but obviously coming to new york and and see him you know how he interacts with the good other people and the way he's been putting up his numbers i mean it's so impressive to see whether sport you plays

tennis right polo tennis yeah you're good. at the passer you compared to but. i can play all but you blew imagine ro sometimes yeah he's good is pushing me pretty good there is a person off season and i just see him up his tennis facility out and. they're in new york but he's a fun character you know is he's a riot so what took you to the world of fashion when you were in fashion when you were a kid we're going to kid it was the choppers now are not at all and i don't know i think between sixteen and twenty two. a time where i tried a lot of different things a lot of different looks and made a lot of mistakes but you try to learn from that i guess and then. coming to new york obviously it's it's one of the best places to be when it comes to fashion and to to see different styles what is where because you obviously have sweat out of

the old i don't know if we do though i mean it's a pretty funny it's a look it's all luck yeah and. i'm a pretty consistent with the way i dress i would say some people maybe like it some people don't care if you like now you're wearing a slim yeah i was i lived off you're aware european cuts very nice and a lot of european brands i get i took some heat early on nine years ago when i came to the league i remember guys were asking about my suits and my ties if they were too tight too skinny but. i think the last five six years that been changing a little bit this is sort of a look you have today well the. yeah while i dress in a suit a lot we have to wear sue and we travel to games we're on the road there were no tie though when we just travel by going to the game we have to wear ties as well so

five days a week we're in a suit for pretty comfortable wearing one let's see another one. of the yeah here there's a lot more rock n roll in all of music i play guitar so a par one part of me loves being dressed up you know take cedar or soup but there's a part of me that more of a rock n roll guy you have your own clothing line. we're doing like a fanbase clothing line right now it's called crown collection and raise money for charity who are heirs of more and more rock n roll. full confortable of that as well so i kind of go a little mix there does your wife affect what you wear. she can comment on it she doesn't time what to wear but when i'm done you know before we walk out the door she might say maybe skip that score freeze up with you. and not often know but she's a great person when it comes to gifts she always buys great gifts and she has

a good could have for that you either think you wearing braces maybe yet not maybe the other they're never in are they in are they out they were definitely in couple of years ago definitely you know the hipsters were wearing them i want them but the vibe that is here always in that it's realm but i mean that's your look but that was i greeted this look you did for television and you've been very consistent with it is that important consistency call you inconsistent i think when it comes to fashion it's not important no it's about wearing what you feel like and just feel good about it you have to feel good in it right for me yes you know i. walk into a game for example if i if i were a suit i feel good and you know it. i just like showing up to the game and that's when the rangers go on a trip less than you might have a six game road trip possible west coast trip you and you take

a competition for us so that's some tough battles when we're grew up but it's it's been good for us you live in new york you live in sweden yes but you are close we are i mean growing up we did everything together we really did and. you know talking about being jealous or we always inspired to each other to work hard and growing up with the other one had more success you know it inspired the other guy to work harder and we played on the same team for like i said sixteen years and we were tracked to do the same kind of girl. like the same kind of foods yeah i mean up to fifteen sixteen we were were like one person almost and it was like the same stuff did the same same stuff every day so after that we got more are we all change. oh we're going to play a little game we're going to have hundred put on headphones so you can hear just put on you listen to some music and i'm going to as joel some questions and see if

you can come up comparable answers joel what was an incident or situation got you both in trouble as kids are teenagers. well and in happen we're often but one thing we started started a small fire. when we go up it wasn't in the house outside the house it was under control after half an hour or so nothing happened but i remember our parents were really upset about it what do you think en regle say this is greatest hockey achievement. probably the best known troll for his. in playing so well on the whole season and win the trophy for the best goal it's your shrimp and who is my ca you one hundred i would say ham i'm very. organized at all and. on time all the time is

the league back home in sweden for londo that's one team that's what you said right that you know either that i said the world championships for things we don't but it's a championship at its core who they were joe the memory. i can that so many. sticks out we went down to the gotham bergen. shootout in our favorite arena and got it right yeah all we watched for the first time in that same time we went to got them within who was quicker researches on the ice you would have. would say him. you're right on that what was the worst why did you ever play games with girls like that is really a good date and he'd go we hated it when people didn't recognize us you know we

were like one person until sixteen it was like joel and hundred joiner itself during practice and tricking people was not really fun for us it was almost like the opposite we wanted that to to see who was who so your parents always tell who who is. not always. a lot always a always dressed in blue and jaws and red like early on the first years can the garden what's this tell me about the one cause foundation yeah i started my own foundation last year i've been working with the garden of dreams foundations for i think nine years now and i felt like there's more to do and i also want to reach people back home as we did and so i saw an opportunity to start my own foundation and. i think my focus is wellness and and education most of for kids so i think being in our position where we can reach out to so many people and

we don't have to do damage work you know with with our names and and the people that we know in the business we are. i think we have a great opportunity to try to make a difference that you like working with kids i do and it's fun for different reasons you know it's fun to just meet them and interact with them and see their reactions but it also gives you perspective on a lot of things that i do and you know i put so much focus into hockey and it's a lot of pressure and then you go and spend an afternoon with a bunch of kids that might be struggling with the illness or something and it just makes you realize that it's just a game and there's more things to in life and so it helps me for sure we have some social media questions john hausen facebook we will wear the puck right behind your skate in game four of the finals now and i was actually screaming at the ruff to blow the whistle i was really upset he didn't blow the whistle and then. and. i

the conference final probably playing at yankee stadium twice although some going till the other leg outdoor hockey it's such a great experience and for years you know we were talking about maybe we had an option to play new york in this year we played twice yankee stadium and stuff and memory of life so i really enjoyed it you hear the crowd you do sometimes you take it in sometimes you try to block it at the pens that this scream now little game of you only knew remember the first girl you kissed. i do it was her name sarah all you know it was probably six seven at a nearby house school that was probably school the. superpower you'd like to have fly pre-game ritual manny you do. a lot of stuff you want to before
