i'm natasha sweets and you're watching r.t. america we begin with some breaking news out of brussels belgium the site of an explosion at that city's central train station and we have some images right here you can see the train station and neighboring historic buildings were evacuated this as police shot at a man who appeared to be wearing a belt with an explosive device artie's dubinsky brings us the details from paris france well we've just been made aware that the spokes person have said that there was an accident at the central station in brussels and that there was an explosion around a person and that person has been neutralized that's the official line coming from officials in brussels right now but what we do know in the last hour or so there was panic at the station when people heard what they sounded like either explosion or gunfire going off in the central station in brussels that led to many people trying to flee the scene immediately and of course officials and so. and police who

are naturally on the ground as there's been a high state of terror alerts across parts of europe evacuated parts of that central station and the area outside the station immediately now what we understand is there have been some pictures coming out from inside the station they're not verified but they do seem to show a small explosion which then matches up with what the official line is that they was a small explosion around a person now we understand that the person was wearing an explosive belt again that's not been confirmed by officials but if you take what they say in the official statement and what we've been hearing from my when this reports that sounds like that is true that a person was wearing an explosive belt that belt was let off and that set off panic now the police say they've neutralized that person and there was nobody else injured in this incident but what you know this comes at as i said a heightened terror alert across many parts of europe including here in france where just yesterday there was an incident on the sean sillies a when a man with

a car with explosives rammed in to police and those explosives went off on the bottom of the seans elisei which is a massive tourist hot spot here in france but back to brussels i mean the city itself was no stranger to terrorist incidents just a year ago in march two thousand and sixteen thirty two civilians were killed in a series of coordinated terror attacks that were later claimed by isis those attacks took place on a metro station and at brussels airport as i said thirty two civilians who were killed as well as three people. treated that terror attack that there hasn't been any official line yet as to whether this is being treated as a terrorist incident you would suspect that it would be given the evidence and the information that's coming out about that attack but where at the moment yet to get that official line from the police authorities in brussels the course they are investigating this incident in. in which one person was neutralized off the water

officials have described as an explosion going off around an individual brussel central station about an hour ago i did time when the station was packed with commuters and tourists on a very hot summer evening in brussels the pentagon says a u.s. fighter jet has downed an armed drone belonging to pro syrian government forces in southern syria u.s. military claimed that you a display of hostile intent and that the coalition didn't seek a fight with pro assad forces but it will defend itself r.t. is a jackal and has the details of the incident u.s. fighter jet has shot down an iranian made pro syrian regime drone in southern syria at approximately twelve thirty am local time now i'll tell him for is a town on the syrian border where u.s. troops are in fact training syrian rebels the statement claims the drone displayed hostile intent and advanced on coalition forces this is in fact the third procedure

forces in the region and to discuss the heightening tension in syria's airspace and the situation on the ground we are joined now by former pentagon official michael maloof and a former cia officer ray mcgovern thank you gentlemen for joining us and mike i like to start with you you know we know the u.s. has shot down the second iranian made armed drone within the past twelve days what signal is the u.s. trying to send here well it's it's technically trying to send a signal that it's not going to allow forces namely iran to come into a certain area in the southern part of syria. first of all united states was never invited there into syria secondly it's. we're putting in more and. declaring for ourselves the confliction zones which nobody agrees with and it's leading to increased tensions and i think what it's paving the way for and

twenty two thousand and three in two thousand and thirteen as part of its most recent total diet study now these include foods like fruit juices cookies and vegetable products for babies and that's in comparison to fourteen percent of other food samples that were collected that have lead in them as well so now the environmental defense fund is looking into exactly why this is the case now they say that soil and drinking water is often a source of lead but because these products for babies contain more lead than other products they believe that this might be coming from the manufacturing level so that's something that they're looking into and in fact that you d.f. says quote the fact that fifty five percent of baby food apple juice samples have to technical levels of lead compared to twenty five percent for regular apple juices deserves more examination so they're going to be looking into that they have filed a freedom of information act request to try and get the f.d.a. to tell them which brands of baby food have these high lead levels in them natasha

eight million u.s. citizens which is roughly sixty one percent of the country's population and it included home addresses birth dates phone numbers political preferences and even voter opinions on major issues like gun control or abortion the leak came from this company deep rooted analytics which was among the several digital analytics companies hired by the g.o.p. during the election season it prides itself on its website for being the most experienced group of targeteers in republican politics offering media analytics services to corporations lobbying groups and g.o.p. political campaigns while the deep rooted analytics comes from the ownership over the league data the info in it came from a number of other companies hired by the r n c the ever present g.o.p. contractor the data trust the cog brothers americans for prosperity the cantor group and american crossroads the super pac founded by the former white house strategist karl rove it's still not entirely clear as to how exactly this much data ended up on a publicly accessible cloud drive but deeper than i don't let it found that alex

getting there started to close enough for to have the right temperature is to possibly have earth like conditions interesting and so won't life on other planets has not yet been discovered you say that the building blocks of life have been found in some cases so what does that mean to you. right it's it just very recently the cassini space to pollute shooting about sixty miles an hour from one of saturn's moons and so all of this and found not only did it consist of ninety percent of water but also had compounds like methane and hydrogen some of the basic building blocks of life so that's very exciting because these plumes were able cannock activity underneath these frozen sea setting up the possibility of extreme life near one of these bill carrick the russians are happening because the water there is locally warmer similarly the hubble space telescope sauce similar plumes on a europa one of jupiter's moons so the idea that some of the building blocks of life

are right in our own backyard sense is good i think you know increases the chances that we have intelligent life elsewhere in this universe fascinating and the and so we hear the terms earth like. or similar to earth are used in the media but i mean it can be misleading because we've never discovered any planet like earth so how similar are they really. right so when we see similar it means like similar in size similar in mass and similar in temperature surface temperature or atmospheric temperature because you know they're orbiting their star at the appropriate distance where the temperatures could be kind of like you so that's very tantalizing because it sets up the condition if there are a building blocks of life you know it's seemingly fairly common wi fi meant our own backyard then you know its sense of the possibility of life elsewhere you know in this universe wow and so the exoplanets that have been discovered so far are

me who worked in the news business for the. entire eight years of obama's presidency was not a very wise observation at all when obama started bombing libya americans had no idea because the media basically just ignored it when he dropped a punch of drones on civilians in other countries the media was moment when he made countless weapons deals with the saudis the media covered him doing cute sell the stick videos or him hanging out with b.s.a. and jay z. are going on a late night show again i mean come on i'm sorry mr axelrod but having watched every day of the media's coverage of obama's presidency at my job i have to say that calling obama completely under siege by the media doesn't seem terribly why or accurate at all.
